This episode takes us deep into the mountains of Central Idaho with show host Sam, and friends Galen, Chris and Ben. Earlier in 2024 this crew packed in 25 miles on horseback for what would turn out to be an epic and extreme backcountry experience! Challenged by difficult access and extreme terrain, this crew overcame many challenges during a week in the "steep and deep" country. This podcast comes directly from Elk Camp, recorded around the fire on the last evening in the mountains. The men reflect on the week, the highs and the lows, their appreciation for the pack animals, and above all the highlight of the trip when they called in a bull on day 5, playing him into archery range and the successful moments that followed! This is an experience these men will never forget, and we are happy to have you all join them! Picture this: a serene waterfall cascading over rocks, a herd of buffalo roaming freely, and the profound beauty settling in the simple acts of giving without expectation. That's where Harmony begins our journey in this conversation, using these powerful symbols to set the stage for a deep exploration of connection, identity, and reciprocity. Join our online community here to discuss this episode with us and so much more!Harmony Cronin, our animalistic friend, shares her profound insights on death, gifts, and the metamorphosis of life reincarnate that bestows upon us Earth's gift of animacy. We explore how the internet can bridge geographical gaps while also destroying the very essence of life. We navigate the knots of virtual communication, the discomfort of seeing oneself on screen, and the surprisingly beautiful connections forged through something as simple as a cold email. As we venture further, we tackle the intricate dance of personal identity in the digital age. The anxiety of condensing multifaceted lives into bios, the disconnection it reveals, and the ancient wisdom that we've strayed from. We confront the societal expectations that force us into boxes, contrasting them with more holistic, kincentric views of identity. We also discuss how courses like Sacred Ecoliteracy can help us break free from these constraints and reconnect with our surroundings in a meaningful way.Our conversation takes a profound turn as we reconnect with animals and nature, emphasizing respect, humility, and the deep-seated animism within us. We contemplate our perpetual indebtedness (a gift of debt) to the natural world, the philosophical recognition of animism. The episode wraps up with reflections on simplicity, ancestral wisdom, and cultivating a responsible, appreciative way of living in harmony with all life. From the Buffalo Bridge project and cross-cultural connections to the importance of recreating ceremonies and honoring lost cultural legacies, this episode is a heartfelt invitation to embrace interconnectedness in every aspect of our lives.Key takeaways:The concept of animism challenges the dominant worldview that separates humans from the rest of the natural world.Embracing animism can be a transformative experience that deepens our connection to earth: we are in and of her circle. The death process is metamorphosis. Reconciling with the death that feeds us is essential for the true integration of life.Acknowledging and caring for all beings, including animals and plants, is crucial for a sustainable and inclusive way of living.Dismantling colonial mindsets is crucial for developing a more holistic and reciprocal relationship with the natural world.Participating in sacred and ceremonial practices and living in alignment with one's purpose brings a sense of wholeness and wellness.Harmony Cronin is an Animistic Apocalyptic Viking Warrior princess dedicated to keeping Ancestral Traditions alive. These are interesting times, people. And if you are planning your hunting camp this year, you've got to think about camp security. I'm talking about who is watching your camp when you're not there? More and more transients and drifters are living in the woods, in Washington and Oregon and Texas and New Mexico, and they want your generator to sell at the pawn shop and they'll take your truck and your guns. Sometimes at the point of a gun. Don't believe me? Well, let me tell you a story, the way I heard it from a state trooper. And then get serious about your camp security this year. It's November and the whitetail deer rut is on across much of North America. People all over the deer hunting world are gathering together in tents, campers, tar paper shacks and cabins to share time together. Hunting is the purpose, but the camp and it's atmosphere is what most of them long for throughout the other 51 weeks of the year. Hunting and fishing camps are places that men, women and children get to share in the outdoor experience. There is definitely a call to God's Great Outdoors for millions of people each year and relations are built and strengthened over the years. Today's guest has been a friend with our host for several years and the two have been blessed to share time in hunting camps together. On today's show, we'll share some current hunts and some good memories. Light a fire in the fireplace, grab a cup of coffee or cocoa and join Dean as he shares some time around the table at a Michigan hunting camp!

Linda Powell is no stranger to those who hunt and shoot. In the outdoor world she has made a definitive "mark"! It's been my pleasure and honor to have known "Ms. Linda" for a goodly number of years and during that time calling her a dear friend even though for several years we worked for competitive gun companies. For the past several years Linda has been deeply involved with Mossberg and their PR, Media and Marketing. She is a serious hunter and outdoors person with a tremendous amount of experience. Even though she did not start out as a hunter, she has now hunted throughout the world. Linda too was instrumental in my hunting with Mossberg Patriot rifles. I recently was able to catch with my friend while sharing a black bear hunting camp with her and a few other friends. I know you will enjoy and appreciate her insight and some of her experiences which we addressed within this episode. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Ever since I can remember, my Dad and our friend Rich Meyer have spent time hunting together every year at some sort of hunting camp. I was lucky to have many great hunting mentors as a kid and along with my grandpas and dad I was also greatly influenced by the guys at camp. Before I was old enough to tag along with my dad and his friends, I couldn't wait for him to come home and tell me the stories of everything that happened on their trip. Eventually when I was 12 years old, I started tagging along with them on their annual deer and turkey hunting trips and couldn't wait for the next one. Over the years I learned a ton from those guys and I'll never forget the memories we made. In this episode, Doug, Rich, and I talk about some of our best stories from the days that we spent at camp and some of the things we learned hunting together. Daniel Schmidt from Deer & Deer Hunting joined Jared and Jeremy for the 45th episode of the HUNTR Podcast. With the start of November, the guys were wanting to get the scope on D&DH's rut predictions. The guys would go on to talk about the social stress that deer encounter; whether that is from a large number of does or bucks. It's November, which mean gun season will be starting up, the guys discussed camp traditions that revolve around gun seasons.
This week on the Missouri Woods & Water Podcast, Nate and Micah get to talk with Kyle Hankins of The Bootheel Hunting Camp Podcast. Kyle first talks about a recent upland bird hunt he got to go on in South Dakota at the national grasslands. He gets into all the fun stories from his trip that didn't go exactly how they had planned. Then, we get into deer season and the transition from early season tactics to pre-rut and rut tactics and how Kyle goes about making decisions on each hunt. We also go down some rabbit holes on things like how using cell cams have changed some of the ways we have hunted this year, how camera information can be deceiving, how he approaches scent control, using milkweed to check wind and different apps we use for wind and conditions, entry and exit routes, using lights walking in in the mornings, and more. Make sure to go and check out The Bootheel Hunting Camp Podcast on any podcasting platform. Thanks for listening! Missouri Woods & Water is Powered by Simplecast

Kody & Trent from Born & Raised Outdoors join us to discuss the different styles and approaches of camping for elk hunts. We discuss the pros and cons of hunting from a roadside base camp, packing in for a backcountry spike camp, or hunting with camp on our back for a bivy-style hunt. As we discuss in the show, there is no one "right" way to approach an elk hunt. Rather, you should understand the pros and cons of each style, and understand when and where each approach makes the most sense for your goals. This week on the HowToBBQRight Podcast, we talk about Malcom’s Cajun Turkey Club recipe (2:48), where to find a good turkey breast (4:53), how to cook spicy candy bacon (8:30) and some other delicious ideas Malcom has for this sandwich (15:14). Then we talk about Hunting Camp Recipes and Malcom’s go-to deer stew recipe (22:43), Christmas Tree Cakes (26:00) and the weird things we eat with our chili (27:39). Then we talk about a true hunting camp delicacy – fried deer tenderloin (36:36), sausage and biscuits (45:35) and how Malcom makes his deer camp jerky (49:52).
The ladies open up the show complaining about Fall (not sorry). Andrea Smith talks about her trip to Hyndman PA where Dave is apparently quite the go getter and helpful around the hunting camp. He is referred to as the "sink bitch." Also, can someone explain hunting fashion? Do you want to be seen or not? Andrea Speck talks about taking her daughter to a music festival over the weekend and the main band didn't show up. However, in true Andrea fashion she made friends with several of the bands and the lead singer from the band Patent Pending recorded a birthday video to Katelynn. The ladies discussed at what age would you allow your teen to go to a concert without parental supervision. A fan favorite - news stories out of Florida! The ladies read an online post, "11 Signs You're Personality is Intimidating." Luckily, we celebrate bold women! A recent news article came out questioning whether Emergency Room are an ideal place for a woman in the event of a miscarriage. Also, a discussion about grieving after a miscarriage. While recording our good friend Jeremy Crouse text us hopefully new legislation about putting more mental health resources in our school system.

We're pumped that you're listening to the Southern Ground Hunting Podcast. This is normally the part of the write up where we would tell you about something really strategic that we learned about hunting southern whitetails. However, that's not the case with this one. In this episode we're just hanging out at deer camp with our friends from The Southern Outdoorsmen. We talk about the challenges that we faced during the week on some very highly pressured public land, and some of our plans to work around all of the pressure. Other than that, it's just a bunch of worn out hunting buddies shooting the bull, swapping hunting stories, & telling a bunch of lies. We've got a lot of great video content coming down the pipe so make sure you're subscribed to the Sportsmen's Nation channel on YouTube to keep up with it. Topics Discussed: High Pressure Public Land Mike's side gig as a stripper Tyler has a weak stomach Jacob & Parker start the “Pocket Deer Club” Swamp Buck Bedding Applications: Life is better when you have hunting buddies. As I grew up reading Bowhunting magazines and finding idols amongst the photos, one hunter always caught my attention. Darryl Bulger is a surfboard shaper by profession, excellent 3D Archer and a Bowhunter who has walked the walk. Putting nerves aside, Darryl shares incredible stories of his early days of bowhunting and some from more recent times. I really hope you enjoy the story telling in this episode as much as I did. One day I hope we can share a Hunting Camp and create a few more. Throw Darryl a msg on Facebook and tell him about the podcast. I’m sure he would appreciate it. What happens when Navy Seal Commander Rorke Denver comes face to face with Air Force POL specialist John Burns. Just kidding, John is with Wyoming Arms. We were told we could get a tax break if we had a SEAL on our Podcast so here he is the token SEAL.. Seriously, Rorke Denver, real deal seal Commander and even played one on TV in the movie Act of Valor. We are also joined by Nephi Cole and John Burns from Wyoming Arms on this Cow Elk hunting extravaganza. Of course, we are still in Wyoming. True identities have been changed to protect the innocent so enjoy the new call signs, I hope they stick. And by the way, Nephi is still here and won’t leave, guess we need to claim him on our taxes too, definitely a dependent! God Bless America!
The show begins with an unboxing or two. Tom ask about the PB and J assembly. Tom wants to know more about Van Damme movies of note. Strange food related questions dominate the early part of the recording. Listener Bruce Canopy seems to be stalking the aficionados. Carmine provides a number of diverse topics with pet peeves creating some digressions. Mike Black asks particularly dark questions. Never be well around Brandon. There's never enough time for adolescent miscreant topics but a model railroading question takes some priority. Dave Smith has a particularly violent question. Tom's questions go very quickly leaving a series of Vegas related topics from Brandon.
