Guest Bio: Jami Nato is a blogger, Instagram influencer, and serial entrepreneur. She mentors thousands of leaders by running an essential oils business and a local coffee shop. She has four non-Catholic kids who attend Catholic school, one irritatingly athletic husband, two unkempt dogs, and a pet turtle she is constantly trying to bring back to the pond. She juggles this circus in the best-kept secret of the Midwest where people genuinely do care about your aunt's hip surgery: Kansas City, Missouri. Show Summary: Have you ever felt closer to God after a season of suffering? When Jami Nato found out her husband was having an affair, it felt like her world imploded. Through the trials and tribulations of that season, she found that her relationship with God was growing stronger. Join hosts Elisa Morgan and Eryn Eddy Adkins as they learn how Jami walked through that season of her life with God by her side during this God Hears Her conversation. Notes and Quotes: “What God did in my heart was supernatural. I felt God's nearness so close, which I think that only suffering can do for you.” —Jami Nato “Forgiveness isn't a one-time thing. [The situation] would chase you, it would taunt you, and you had to turn around and say, ‘No more. I've already forgiven you.'” —Jami Nato “If God carried me this far, and showed me what He needed to show me in the perfect timing, He would do it again. He would take care of me.” —Jami Nato “When the gospel gets so deep into your roots, that is the fruit that you produce.” —Jami Nato “Not until I experienced suffering did the gospel become real to me. "God is just as much with us in the hard times or good times as He is in the in-between times. The awkward space. So, for those who are in that awkward gray space, you don't need to rush out of this: God is with you. For the deep thinkers wrestling through bewildering circumstances that don't quite make sense: God is with you. For those who wonder about the future and are eager to see what God does through all this monotony: God is with you."Leave a comment for Jami: https://incourage.me/?p=236639--You're just a few questions away from your 2024 Word of the Year. Christmas doesn't arrive on our terms. Whether we are ready for a party or not, the holiday is still here. It's okay to be sad (and if you are, it's okay to give yourself permission to be sad.) It's also okay to have grief and joy at the same time or on different days. There is no right way to feel this Christmas. Our guest for this episode, Jami Nato, knows a few things about grief during the holidays. Her life as she knew it fell apart nearly a decade ago - right between Thanksgiving and New Year's. For years to follow she couldn't figure out why she wasn't better able to welcome the holiday season. She needed to give herself permission to grieve. From infidelity to addiction to that missing person at the table, we cover how heartbreak can feel acute this time of year. And yet....we also know the very holiday we are celebrating right now is our reminder that God comes near to us because he loves us. He doesn't come because we have put together lives, just the opposite, he comes because we need him. If you are feeling low today, or you love someone who is, this is a great listen to remind us all that God loves the sinners - that's all of us - and he is with us no matter what. Jami Nato opens up about healing through infidelity after discovering that her husband had engaged in multiple affairs as a Christian. She discusses the important realizations that she had as she began to heal - like divorcing herself from the outcome and not putting any blame on herself for her husband's decisions. In today's conversation with Lindsey Maestas, Jami directly addresses the moments where she realized her marriage was broken and how her perspective of control and of God helped her to come to a place of forgiveness and understanding. "Being weak feels like a bad thing, but goodness has it made me run to God and beg for His wisdom. Being weak has also helped me remember I belong with Him even when I don't feel like I belong in my new environment. I am weak, and He will be my strength! Hey friends! Welcome to Girls' Night! I'm so excited about today's episode. Today we're talking about how our past experiences can point us to our purpose for the future! To talk us through this, I invited my new friend, Jami Nato, on the show. Jami is a writer, serial entrepreneur, and an instagram influencer who loves keeping it real. A few months ago, I received her book in the mail called, This Must Be the Place: Following the Breadcrumbs of Your Past to Discover Your Purpose Today, and I knew I needed to have her on to talk about this with us! In this episode, Jami shares the story of discovering her unique identity by drawing on her past experiences and why she truly believes that God can use every part of our story, even the messy parts. Embracing her new identity has given her the freedom to step into her gifts and live a more joyful and purpose-filled life, and she's telling us how we can do the same. I left our conversation feeling so inspired and encouraged and I know you will too! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Tracy and Rachel are so grateful to welcome counselor and co-founder of Victus Counseling and Nutrition Services Faith Carlson to the show for a sensitive and nuanced conversation centered around eating disorder recovery. Faith compassionately provides framework and illustrations to better comprehend the impact and prevalence of eating disorders, including a broader understanding of the spectrum of behaviors and their place in overall mental health and wellness. In addition to her local work, Faith also consistently advocates on a national level to remove barriers to care, while emphasizing that hope and healing are always possible. Faith and Rachel explore ways to support loved ones facing this journey and the importance of simply believing their lived experiences, even if those experiences can be difficult to understand; Tracy and Faith discuss the power of language surrounding food and movement, particularly as it pertains to children and parenting. Everyone celebrates the power of a great partner and why we all need a handler at one time or another. "God isn't interested in our productivity, but in our wellbeing. I found myself having compassion for the peonies and their big move, not bitterness that they didn't make enough flowers for me. I pruned and fed them, and let them just be. It made me wonder how attentive God is to us, how He isn't interested in our productivity, but in our wellbeing. How He stands in the hot sun, with the sheers and the nutrients, and compassionately understands why we just can't be so useful and bloomy all the time. If I am like this over flowers, what is God like over me?"Leave a comment for Jami: https://incourage.me/?p=234105--Plan out your next year of Bible studies with the (in)courage Create in Me a Heart of study collection! Our last episode of Season Two! We made it! Again! And oh, man, do we have the best season ender for you. My guest is Jami Nato, and I want to assure you that she makes me snort-laugh. You know that really undignified laughter that makes you feel like you never actually left junior high but are still that awkward kid in braces and Aqua Net? Snort laughter in braces? That's what I do with Jami Nato, AND I also learn a lot about redemption and forgiveness and how to be the person God hand-made me to be. I think you're going to love this episode with author, Midwesterner, and fellow child of the 80's, Jami Nato. Jami Nato is a serial entrepreneur and leader of a multi-million dollar business built on faith, community, authenticity, and courage. Navigating life with her wonderful husband of 14 years and 4 unruly children is her greatest love and challenge. She's passionate about not doing laundry, hoarding socks, loves using humor, writing and honesty to convey the truth of the gospel. Sharing her own personal over comings with well-timed, awkward humor helps her and her audience navigate through tough topics. While she continually plans for the future, she recognizes God's role as The Ultimate Curator of her life. Find her online at JamiNato.com and on Instagram @jaminato. "God waits for you today. I believed for a long time that God must be mad at me for sinning, not staying on the right track, and bad behaviors. And maybe you're wondering the same thing? But we know from Scripture that God isn't like that towards us. He can not possibly be mad at us for our lostness. In fact, He patiently waits at the gate, scanning the pasture in anticipation that we will get tired of our pig trough and come back. And then He throws a celebration!"Leave a comment for Jami: https://incourage.me/?p=232101--Encourage all the moms in your life with heartfelt messages of God's love! Hi friends! We are continuing our Characters of Christmas series with my guest Jami Nato. Jami was on The Happy Hour back in 2016. We re-aired that episode in 2021 during our Flashback Friday podcast series, and now Jami is back with us to talk all about Mary, the mother of Jesus. Maybe December is a hard month for you or maybe 2022 has been a particularly challenging year for you. I want to encourage you to lean into this last month of the year standing on something that is unshakeable: Jesus Christ. On today's episode, Jami and I talk about how Mary's character points us to Jesus, and Jami tells us what she observes about the character of God through Mary's role in His birth. Jami talked about how God built a community for Mary because He knew she would be afraid, and how even during His death, He provided for Mary. The beautiful thing is that Jesus is doing the same thing for us today. He knows that we are afraid of certain things, so He creates community for us. Then, with the Holy Spirit living inside of us as believers, He still guides us and gives us provision. That is the hope that you can stand on in this season. I hope you were encouraged during this episode and that you walk away from listening knowing that even during the hard days, you can still have joy, hope and peace through Jesus Christ. "I miss not being anxious about relational stress. I scrolled through nasty comments and messages about our neighborhood, our race, our demographic, all the unimportant and untrue things being assumed as fact on a post that was meant to stir up kindness, I realized I had to decide how I wanted to treat this dumpster fire. I could defend myself and add fuel to the blaze. Or I could take a beat and let my pause extinguish the flames." The true remedy for our shame is God's love. "I am stupid and a bad kid you don't want," the note from my eleven-year-old said in sloppy handwriting. Don't we do this with God? Don't we struggle with the same shame when coming to Him — or when deciding not to come to Him — because we think He'll reject us based on our performance, on being able to control our emotions and actions just so? We loved Jami's tender story of an interaction with her daughter that teaches us all about God's enduring love for us. Know that when we feel alone in our hurt — even from those we have championed for years — Jesus understands. We've all heard the phrase “forgive and forget”. It's a nice principle, right? When we wrong someone and seek forgiveness, we would also really like it if that person completely forgot about the offense. But when we turn the situation around, we're not so sure. Especially if it's a deep wound and we feel all the things, extending forgiveness is hard. Forgetting the offense entirely seems to be near impossible. So in this episode, we explore this idea of forgiving and forgetting. In the Bible, we read verses that say God will be merciful and “remember their sins no more”. What do we make of this, especially since we also know that God knows all things? We talked about why we should forgive in a previous episode, but today, we want to explore this idea of forgiving and forgetting. We talk about if it's even possible to truly forgive and forget. And is it wise to forgive and forget? Is this something Scripture calls us to? Does God actually forget when He forgives? That's the bottomline: we want to forgive as Jesus forgives. He is our model! Jesus is our model for forgiveness. (7:42) When God forgives us our sins, does He forget them? (8:53) How can we forgive and continue to walk forward in that forgiveness? (16:03) Jesus is our model: He is committed to those He forgives. (18:58) How do we remain committed to those we've forgiven? (23:10) Caveat: we need wisdom! Abusive and/or toxic relationships are real. (25:27) We have certain “covenant relationships” where forgiveness is vital. (30:58) How do we do “not call the offense to mind” when the sin is painful? (35:11) How many times should we forgive? (44:04) This feels impossible. How do we do any of this? (49:37) Resources mentioned in this episode: The Theology Handbook by The Daily Grace Co. In this episode of the podcast, I'm diving deep into purity culture with Jami Nato. She has an amazing story full of hurt, redemption, and God's goodness on display. This week, I am talking with the hilarious Kansas City native, mom, and self-proclaimed serial entrepreneur, Jami Nato. She's here talking candidly about pushing through the ups and downs of marriage and business ownership while working alongside your spouse.
In this episode, Sharon is joined by friend and successful entrepreneur, Jami Nato, to discuss the story behind Miranda v Arizona. We've all heard the line “You have the right to remain silent” but most don't know the fascinating tale of Ernesto “Ernie” Miranda and how his smalltown trial led to one of the most iconic Supreme Court cases in American history. Sharon and Jami share their thoughts about why the trial of an undoubtedly guilty man was appealed by the Court and how it reflects the Court's emphasis on upholding constitutional rights. Sharon explains why sometimes the Supreme Court doesn't necessarily focus on “putting the bad guys away” but instead strives to uphold and reestablish constitutional principles. What do you want your kids to say about your parenting? What legacy do you want to leave behind? Parenting can be a beautiful journey that leaves a lasting impact on generations. Parenting is also challenging and requires you to be courageous enough to dig deep, ask questions, and have those hard conversations at every stage of the journey. But if you approach parenting humanly and with compassion, you can create empathetic, generous humans that will change the world. In today's episode, I am talking with Jami Nato, mama of 4, wife, and serial entrepreneur whose light shines bright with her humor and wisdom. Jami and I are chatting all about parenthood and how to approach it with more gentleness, more grace, and more self-awareness so that we raise a new generation of compassionate humans. During our conversation, Jami gives insight on the different seasons of parenthood, how to let go of parental shame, why radical honesty is so important as we raise empathetic children, the benefits of gentle parenting, plus the number one best thing you can do as a parent. Welcome to Flashback Friday! A new series where we bring back some of our favorite Happy Hour episodes from the past, invite the guest back on, and catch up on what's happened since we last chatted! Today's flashback guest is Jami Nato, whose show originally aired in January of 2016! In her episode, Jami dove into an extramarital affair that rocked her world 7 years ago and how it deeply changed her perspective on suffering and God's love for her. Today's show starts off with Jami looking back on the last 5 years and all that's changed and grown. In the midst of something so difficult, Jami has consistently modeled the love of Jesus and the Gospel. I love when she says “Don't underestimate the change that God can bring about in your heart.” All these years later, there is still so much to learn from Jami and I know you will walk away encouraged by her words, both past and present. This episode will make you laugh so hard. I promise. Honestly, this episode was made for that reason, and that reason alone, for you to crack a smile. We talk about the woes of Coronavirus - woes like zoom mishaps, wearing the same outfit for too many consecutive days, homeschool delights and jumping on a trampoline problems. At one point Jami coins a new phrase, "dumpster fire" and you may never see yourself another way. Excellent self-care, friends. Because if self-care is laughter than this episode is yours! Enjoy!
The next Equipped speaker I want you to meet is Jami Nato. Jami's story and message have it all—infidelity, loving the Lord, learning how to use pain to grow closer to God, using your unique talents and gifts and key tools in your business and more. You don't want to miss this episode where we talk about all these and you don't want to miss Jami's main stage speech at the Equipped Conference. Want to meet Jami and all the other amazing speakers? My guest for The Happy Hour # 200 is my all-time favorite guest on The Happy Hour, my husband Aaron Ivey. Friends, I cannot believe that The Happy Hour is celebrating its 200th episode!!! I want to thank each and every one of you for listening, sharing the show, joining us in Book Club or Happy Hour Live, and supporting If You Only Knew. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I'm honored and humbled to be able to share so many women's stories. These stories made us laugh and cry -- sometimes at the same time! -- and have encouraged, inspired, and most importantly pointed us to the Gospel. On today's show Aaron and I share some favorite moments from The Happy Hour. We hear a little bit from twelve different episodes and we get to talk about everything from the single life, married life, kids, how men and women look at approval, diversity, creativity, and more. I would have loved to share clips from every single episode, but if you want to catch up on any shows you missed, maybe a Happy Hour podcast binge is in order! Thank you again to each and everyone of you for listening, sharing your stories, giving feedback, and building this community. I truly thank you from the bottom of my heart and here's to the next 200 shows! {You can listen to the show HERE, and make sure you never miss a Happy Hour!
