Hi everyone! On this new TALK MUSIC episode, we're going to do something I haven't done yet: go deep into the harder-edged genre of Metal and Hard Rock. My guest is MICHEL LANGEVIN, the founder/drummer extraordinaire of French-Canadian progressive sci-fi metal act, VOIVOD, who counts DAVE GROHL as a fan, has toured with RUSH, been featured on OZZFEST and once included ex-METALLICA bassist JASON NEWSTEAD in their lineup. VOIVOD is a band I respect immensely and hold in very high regard, and I was thrilled to be associated with them in the 90's when I released two of their albums, NEGATRON and PHOBOS, on my Hypnotic Label worldwide. They are revered around the world by everyone who loves unique and distinctive harder-edged music, and they just celebrated 40 years of recording and performing! I go deep on their amazing career arc starting from their very beginnings in Quebec and progressing across their 16 studio albums! I loved my chat with Michel and I'm excited for everyone to hear it. Enjoy!
In this episode Toby sits down with Phil Rind of Sacred Reich! They chat about his early life, moving from Brooklyn to Phoenix, early years in different bands, Jason Newstead being instrumental to getting the band out there, writing new music, buddhism and spirituality, veganism and his wife and family. This week special guest host Brad Blazeck joins Clint to break down the 72S Rob Trujillo interview conducted by Steffan Chirazi. In this candid interview Rob breaks down how he stayed positive and creative during lockdown, how his intentionally botched attempt at an acoustic version of "The Day That Never Comes" kickstarted the 72 Seasons sessions, working remotely with Greg Fidelman, how Lars and Kirk still surprise him, riding the magic carpet with James Hetfield and how Metallica is a band always striving to be better. Also discussed in this episode:- bagpipes in Metallica- Megadave turns a new leaf?- Lulu as Metallica's best record- Guy Fieri and the post office- being a true- St. Anger as a return to form- the genius of Inamorata- Peace Sells, but who's Brian?- Hot Summer Nights guy- Brad eats raw flour- the opposite of trues- differences between Jason and Rob- Rob's secret sauce in Metallica- more Jason Newstead speculation- Kirk's role in Metallica- Lars as a visionary- working with your kids- St. Anger thoughts- 72 Seasons vs. HardwiredClint Wells - Going Supernova (Out Now!)Merch store HERE!If you think Metal Up Your Podcast has value, please consider taking a brief moment to leave a positive review and subscribe on iTunes here:https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/metal-up-your-podcast-all-things-metallica/id1187775077You can further support the show by becoming a patron. Staind has a new record dropping this fall, and Mike Mushok was nice enough to hope on Zoom and tell me about it. Well, he told me what he could....you'll have to watch the interview to know what I mean. Mike talks about the connection Staind and Godsmack have had for decades, as they get set to tour this summer. He talks about the first national show they actually played here in Detroit opening up for a local music legend. We talk about the upcoming album, their first in 12 years. "Confessions of the Fallen" drops in late summer/early fall. Mike didn't have a specific date yet. He explained how the main lyric writer is singer, Aaron Lewis and that he doesn't even know what the lyrics are until far into the process. He told me about creating riffs and how he stores them in an 'ideas folder'. As far as the record "I'm really happy with the way it turned out". He said it's a diverse album with more of an electric element to the new music. We talked about making videos, dropping more new songs before the record comes out and more. He also told me his thoughts on Aaron Lewis solo stuff. "I think whatever Aaron does is really good." He said that he had always hoped the band would get back together, but there just wasn't a plan. We discussed his thoughts when the band shut down, playing with Jason Newstead and Saint Asonia filling the void. He said he wanted to write with other singers, which turned into Saint Asonia. We talked about touring in 2021 in the midst of the pandemic. Find out why he says he looks back on the lockdown sort of fondly. Always great to talk with Mike.... -Meltdown-
We're back! Manny and I discuss bands known for drinking, songs about drinking, but most importantly, songs that MAKE us want to drink! We also discuss Jason Newstead, old guard bands, Dave Mustaine, and overplayed songs on the radio. Songs credited in intro: WASP- Blind in Texas Korpiklaani- Vodka Hamatom- It's Raining Beer

Australian raised Toby Rand, is a Los Angeles based singer/songwriter and recording artist. Toby currently sings for the band Radio XX. RAND starred as a lead, in the hit “Broadway” musical ROCKTOPIA. Rocktopia toured the USA extensively during 2020. Rand co-founded new band ASHENMOON with Garry Beers (INXS) and Jimmy Khoury (Beth Hart). Their music derives from electronic pop of INXS fused with anthemic classic rock n roll. AshenMoon's debut record release is due early 2020. Rand's primary artistry is his solo project Toby Rand and The FutureKind. This music is a blend of raw, gut-wrenching vocals with anthemic sonics, live instrumentation and beautiful strings of the Hamburg (Germany) symphony orchestra. In 2006, RAND became household name for his appearance on the CBS TV show Rockstar: Supernova with Tommy Lee, Jason Newstead, Gilby Clarke and Dave Navarro. The show was seen by over 20million viewers each week and ended with RAND as runner-up and signed record deal. As a result, RAND has a rich musical background and extensive touring experience across the globe with his (award-winning) band, JUKE KARTEL. Juke Kartel had numerous songs on charts around the world and tours with SLASH, Rockstar Supernova, Nickelback, Linkin Park, OZZY Osborne and many more. His voice and music are heard frequently in film and television. RAND is also involved in philanthropy. He uses his writing to support international Breast Cancer Research, the youth of Los Angeles, and his children's animation projects, ‘Pom Pom Crew' and ‘Eco Giraffe' Co-writing music with Philippa Pomeranz for said animations, Rand is inspired by encouraging children to live with love, positivity, social and environmental awareness. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/dadcastco/support

This week we dig up an old series for the 5th installment of, “Degrees Of Separation…” where we discuss the more obscure side projects and solo releases from some not-so-obscure artists. Continuing a discussion that began a few weeks ago that has since percolated into a flurry of InObscuria social media debates, we bring to you, IRON MAIDEN versus JUDAS PRIEST! Who's metal side projects will reign supreme??? New to InObscuria? It's all about excavating obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal from one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. While we may be talking about bands that you know intimately in this episode, perhaps you are not aware of the depth of side projects they have had over their long careers. Our hope is that we turn you on to something new and that we resolve the age-old question: MAIDEN or PRIEST???Songs this week include:Bruce Dickinson – “Accident Of Birth” from Accident Of Birth (1997)Fight – “Life In Black” from War Of Words (1993) British Lion – “Elysium” from The Burning (2020)Glenn Tipton – “Baptizm Of Fire” from Baptizm Of Fire (1997)Smith / Kotzen – “Running” from Smith / Kotzen (2021)KK's Priest – “Raise Your Fists” from Sermons Of The Sinner (2021)Who Cares? – “Out Of My Mind” from Out Of My Mind (2011)Racer X – “Into The Night” from Extreme Volume [Live] (1988)Halford – “The One You Love To Hate” from Resurrection (2000)Please subscribe everywhere that you listen to podcasts!Visit us: https://inobscuria.com/https://www.facebook.com/InObscuriahttps://twitter.com/inobscuriahttps://www.instagram.com/inobscuria/Buy cool stuff with our logo on it!: https://www.redbubble.com/people/InObscuria?asc=uIf you'd like to check out Kevin's band THE SWEAR, take a listen on all streaming services or pick up a digital copy of their latest release here: https://theswear.bandcamp.com/If you want to hear Robert and Kevin's band from the late 90s – early 00s BIG JACK PNEUMATIC, check it out here: https://bigjackpnuematic.bandcamp.com/Check out Robert's amazing fire sculptures and metal workings here: http://flamewerx.com/
After a long hiatus, NoFriender returns with a new edition of the Thrash Metal Show Podcast. He was kind enough to let me know "It's about Cliff Burton" but too lazy to write a show description so here I am doing it for him. Cliff Burton was a founding member of Metallica who was tragically killed in a tour bus accident in 1986. Instrumental to early sound of Metallica he was replaced by Jason Newstead whom Metallica completely cut his bass out of his first album with them.

Neil Fallon of the mighty Clutch guests this week on your favorite metal podcast! In our interview with the singer, we talk in-depth about the 25 years of the band's history, how it might have just been a nice accident that they have lasted this long, the progression of their music through their career, his side projects Dunsmuir, The Bakerton Group, and The Company Band, dealing with the ever changing landscape of the music business as a band and, more recently, as the owner of the label Weathermaker Music, what the plan looks like for the next 25 years, and what you do when Lemmy gives you advice. Neil also tells us about the Clutch song they played every night for several years but now don't... and gives us details about his house! We also discuss when musicians need to stop. Is there an age limit to the metal? Should bands who cannot do it anymore just finally give up and go home, or is there still a place in metal for the old guard? Vince's editorial about Jason Newstead sparked the discussion about a musician's ability to make good music, be it with a distortion pedal or an acoustic guitar, after his or her prime. Once you are on the treadmill of the industry, do you have to keep running? Can you get off gracefully? How should a musician gauge when their time has passed? And who are we to judge???
Not Necessarily Music News, with David Fairhead and Heather Taddy, but definitely some music updates, critiques and weird video reviews on DIE ANTWOORD, PRODIGY, Europe, and a Jason Newstead update. Heinz Ward a Zombie? AND music by Pittsburgh's own punk band, THE CHEATS!
Lets keep the good times rolling. Johan Tony Adam and Jason talk about Metallica, Jason Newstead, and more. We listen in studio to Warhedd demos, and the doom soundtrack as well as talking great bands, and greater times
