For as long as Jeffrey Morgan can remember, he's lived in survival mode. His earliest memories are dominated by family violence, gambling, and alcoholism - so at just 12 years old, Jeff decided he'd be safer on the streets than under his own roof. What followed were years of having to fend for himself, and although he never wanted to hurt anyone, crime became a 'habit' for Jeff and his crew. At 37 years old, sitting in a jail cell, Jeff decided that he'd had enough. He transformed his life, and today is serving his community through his mindset coaching and leadership programs. In this episode, he shares his inspiring life story. Growing up on the block, Jeffrey Morgan grew up with a mother with an alcohol addiction and abusive father forcing him to run away from home at the age of 12.Sleeping on one mattress between 13 other indigenous children and Adolescents, amongst syringes, bottles, living off MacDonald 3 times a day with no role models to support his development.Despite early success in the junior ranks for the South Sydney Rabbitohs, Jeff found himself turning to a life of crime. In the area of town Jeff grew up, a criminal record and time in incarceration was seen as a badge of honour - and more often not the norm for many indigenous growing up on the block.Jeff turned to petty crime at the age of 14, and it wasn't long after that his crimes escalated to break and enters and bank robberies. Jeff was know by many in incarceration for his prowess as a talented get away driver and he established himself as a career criminal as an elite bank robber. This was an identity that Jeffrey would eventually shake, doing a complete 180 with his life. Removing his associations in crime and setting up a 7 figure mindset coaching business helping corporate team and professional athletes to elevate their career, performance and life. This man's story is truly inspiring. I have a new Residency! I'm down at Buzzards Point, the new sparkling development wedged between the Wharf and Navy Yard — this is The Point DC. For the next month, the good people of Fish & Fire Group, aka Greg Casten, are hosting Industry Night in their pretty fabulous property. And I am grateful and excited! So, if you don't know, the Point is the Winner of the Restaurant Development & Design Magazine Award for "Best Restaurant Design," The Point has a glorious outdoor patio ideally situated where the Potomac and Anacostia Rivers join — talk about picturesque and panoramic views. But just because the views are fab — what about the food — right? The Point features a 12-foot wood-infused grill and a dedicated raw bar/sushi bar, so yes, locally sourced oysters are shucked to order. The man, the myth, the legend — Greg Casten — the owner of the Point pops in for a little how do you do. You pay attention to my insta feed, you know I have been out and about: -Caruso's at Pike & Rose - Matt Adler does it again -Dear Sushi in the Love Makoto - Oh Ma Kase -Chefs For Equlaity - Another blowout event -Daru -Maketto As a regular listener of this show, you know I love to travel. Love it. But making all the decisions is a little overwhelming! When I was a less seasoned traveler, I had done all this research and made all these reservations — it was so stressful — and when I arrived at our hotel, the concierge, Franco, greeted us, sat us down, and asked what our plans were. I took out my book, and he looked at me and said — may I help you here? I was like, PLEASE. He tore through our itinerary, took places out, added places in, and streamlined our trip. It was fantastic! He then let us in on a little secret: whenever you travel and wherever you travel, stay at a hotel that values the concierge's expertise. And since that moment, when selecting a hotel to stay in, I do just that, which got me thinking. I've been in the hospitality business for over 30 years, and I have worked with some of the best in our region. The concierge can really provide you with a stellar trip if you know how to WORK with them wisely. So today's class is a concierge 101 In with me today are two very visible concierges in the DC Area: Leslie Valtin, Lead Concierge from the St. Regis & Jeffrey Morgan, Chef Concierge Conrad — we all go way back. Both Jeff and Leslie took different paths to become the experts that they are today, but here is what they both have in common — They are generous souls, thoughtful problem solvers, and convey hospitality in all that they do. They are both past presidents of the WACA and members of Les Clefs d'Or — let's get an education. Quotes "We crafted this restaurant with a powerful message in mind: strength. Despite its previous emptiness, it now stands as a symbol of our unwavering determination and unwavering resilience.”- Greg Casten "Javier believed in my potential, seeing my means, personality, and chef industry connections. This is a "Just The Facts" episode. It's a shortened version of this week's more detailed full episode, which is also available on our feed. When he was 12, Jeffrey Morgan ran away from his country NSW home to Redfern to stay with his mum. He thought his dad was being too strict and he wanted more freedom. This was the time in Redfern when the inner-city suburb was the centre of Aboriginal life and activism and it was a tough place.Jeffrey spent a lot of time on the streets, getting involved in minor offences a s a means of survival – namely stealing food to eat - but eventually this escalated to stealing cars and then, robbing banks. He started cycling through maximum security prisons which added up to 18 years of his life. He was always into fitness and taking care of his health.During his last stint in prison, Jeffrey had one of those moments where he knew he had to change. And he did it through education and peer support and keeping fit and healthy. And he did it through education and peer support and keeping fit and healthy. This week on The Get Down we follow on with the path of redemption and selfless acts of reimbursing the community at large. Beats chops it up with the super inspirational and dare I say charismatic, Jeffrey Morgan. Jeffrey spent his early years growing up in the tough and infamous suburb of Redfern, Sydney and through a desire to merely survive, soon found himself engaging in some serious criminal behaviour resulting in some pretty heavy prison sentences. To say he has turned his life around would be an immense understatement. Jeffrey is living proof that with hard work and determination, ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!I really enjoyed this yarn and left feeling very inspired. Thanks Jeffrey for your time and knowledge.I appreciate you!Beats.*SHOW LINKS*Jeffrey Morgan Cut The Bullshit Programhttps://jeffreymorgan.com.au/product/cut-the-bullshit-program/Unstoppable Leadershiphttps://attivo.eventsair.com/2022-unstoppable-leadership-conference/register/Site/RegisterBeats Dry July Donationshttps://www.dryjuly.com/users/beats-adroitLIFELINE AUSTRALIA - 131114The Get Down Beat produced by PTTCwww.linktr.ee/poundtothecredit_officialThe Get Down Logo designed by Ben Tan from @Graphic_tragic(C) Insurgence Productions - All rights reserved. 2022

Jeffrey Morgan grew up in Redfern and from his start in petty crime, he soon found himself moving into more serious offences like bank robbery and other armed holdups. Jeffrey Morgan is a respected health & wellness coach in Sydney, Australia. Known for his popular mental health & performance workshops, Jeff takes great pride in offering his unique perspective & sharing lessons learned to empower those who cross his path. Though not all lessons are learned in a class room or on the gym floor. Jeff received his education on Everleigh Street, Redfern. A life unlike anything you can imagine, that existed within its own bubble & more often than not, all roads lead to Rome: or in this case, a concrete prison cell. Jeffrey's journey begun at the ripe age of 12 years old, breaking & entering a school canteen was an act of survival for he & his brother. But red frogs don't feed you for long & soon enough, their targets become a whole lot bigger. Bank robbery was the final straw & before long, he was behind bars serving a 15 year sentence. Sometimes we find hope in the most unlikely places & in this episode, Jeff describes the watershed moment that changed his life, the inmate who became his mentor & the redemption story that truly turned the tide. It is incredible to see how Jeff has changed his life & the work he does to help others from heading down the path he once did. A proud indigenous man doing a whole lot of good in the world, this made for one hell of a conversation. Jeffrey Morgan - Rock Critic Confidential... with TRE´s Giles Brown
Jeffrey Morgan is a Canadian writer and photographer who is best known for being the authorized biographer of both Alice Cooper and Iggy Pop and The Stooges. He is also the writer of the graphic novel The Brides of Mister X and Other Stories[4] which Rolling Stone called "one of the 50 best non-superhero graphic novels". In 2021, New Haven published Morgan's autobiography Rock Critic Confidential as a hardcover coffee table book containing over fifty years of Morgan's writing and photography
Creem magazine writer Jeffrey Morgan returns to the show this week to unveil his very unusual NSTS skin vibration playlist. When I express my lack of understanding in his choices, Jeffrey uses the movie "The Man Who Fell To Earth" to explain. And it does make sense. Jeffrey and I also discuss his Van Halen Diver Down record review for Creem, with began with a warning that it was "an exceptionally vicious kick in the teeth to Van Halen fans everywhere". The band was not at all pleased about the scathing review, and Jeffrey contends that as a result, Van Halen recorded a much better follow-up with 1984. Can he prove it? Listen and find out. Morgan's playlist: Lou Reed - Metal Machine Music A1 Lou Reed - Metal Machine Music A2 Neil Young - Arc Lou Reed - Metal Machine Music A3 Lou Reed - Metal Machine Music A4
Remember Creem magazine? Remember Lester Bangs? This week's NSTS guest, author and rock critic Jeffrey Morgan, worked for both of them. His new book, Rock Critic Confidential, opens with the original handwritten letter Morgan received from Lester Bangs, on Creem letterhead, inviting him to write album reviews for the magazine in 1974. Rock Critic Confidential is a fantastic read done in the style of a magazine, and includes all of the greatest moments of Morgan's writing and photography career. In Part One of my discussion with him, we talk book highlights - Morgan's chat with KISS from 1974 when they played a Toronto strip club, the time he administered a Rorschach inkblot test to Gary Numan, his three-hour lunch with Lou Reed, and chats with Ted Nugent, Alice Cooper, Stan Lee, and more.

Right now, there are thousands of people who need a heart transplant, yet there are not nearly enough organs available to meet that need. Additionally, those who do receive a donor heart run the risk of rejection and must on lifelong immunosuppressants, which consequently makes them more susceptible to infection. As Dr. Jeffrey Morgan, M.D., says, with the methods we have in place today, heart transplant recipients are essentially trading one disease for another. Dr. Morgan is the Chief Medical Officer at BIOLIFE4D, a biotech company that is developing a bioartificial heart, which would increase availability of hearts for transplantation and eliminate the risk of rejection, as the heart would be generated from the patient's own cells. Press play to hear more. Be sure to visit the BIOLIFE4D website at https://biolife4d.com.
