If you're a regular listener to my show, then you know by now that I'm always excited to introduce you to intriguing creatives who are making a positive impact in their fields of expertise. Today, I'm especially excited for this conversation as in some ways I feel like this particular guest and I have been doppelganger's in both experiences and creative choices. She also happens to share one of my core beliefs that it's never too late to pursue one's dreams. Now a full time voice and on-camera actor as well as a voice over coach, Jennifer “Jenn” Sims, was deep into her career as the Director of Broadcast at one of L.A.'s top ad agencies, she worked on 100s of commercials with talent agents and casting directors and listened to thousands of voice actor's auditions. She also directed voice actors, including Emmy and Oscar winners; such as Donald Sutherland as the voice for a national healthcare campaign and produced network promos starring the incomparable voice legend, Don LaFontaine, to name a just few. As glamorous as the world of advertising appears to be in the content it creates, it can also be, as Jenn says, very toxic, and her work environment was becoming increasingly so, prompting Jenn to reflect on what she really wanted to do when she began her career in the first place; that of being an actress; as she spent years honing her quirky sense of humor while studying comedy and improv at The Upright Citizen's Brigade, The Groundlings, (which landed her on-camera commercials for Uber, Snapchat and WebMD) and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles. It was during a recording session, that Jenn realized her passion for acting was undiminished and made the decision to quit her job to pursue a full time career in voice over! However, in Jenns own words, she was “older” than most people who pursue full time acting. And for anyone who is familiar with how youth oriented show business is; especially in Los Angeles, it wasn't exactly a text-book recipe for success. Leaving that coveted Director of Broadcast position was a huge risk but one she was willing to take, and so Jenn took that leap. About Jenn Jenn is a graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in NYC and is certified by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. Growing up with depression and anxiety, Jenn has seen the effects firsthand of what sugar can do to your physical and mental well-being. After healing herself of gastritis in her mid 20's and learning how to manage her own addiction, Jenn built a woman run company that teaches other busy female professionals how to kick and manage their sugar addiction without being on a diet or denying themselves of things they love. Jenn's zone of genius is simplifying the complex and clarifying all the dietary confusion out there while teaching women how to live a life they love waking up to! She is also the founder of Unleash Your Inner Boss, a certified coach program for women who saw such amazing results after learning the Sugar Freedom Method that they too want to teach the Method. Share your journey with sugar and health. Jenn firmly believes that sugar is addictive, and we need to break the addiction in order to stop the cycle of addiction you need to understand what is driving it. Throughout the day we are being chased by something we are not addressing, and at night when we stop, it hits us and we turn to sugar to mediate the feelings. Working with sensitive women Jenn uses her power to simplify, and helps them find out what it is they are running from and therefore help them heal and remove the need for the sugar crutch. Why is sugar bad for us? Jenn worked through her own health issues and found that sugar was the main driver. It causes inflammation, destroys our gut microbiome and is the driver for the mid life weight gain that many of us suffer from. She is quick to point out that it isn't a case of never having sugar, but about being aware of why you are reaching for sugar. Once you know why, then you can decide if you really want it, and then, most importantly, enjoy it if you choose to eat (or drink) it. What do you mean by name your strengths, how does this help? In Episode 165 I talk about swapping the jobs you hate with someone for whom it brings them joy and, in Woman Unleashed, Jenn also encourages you to understand and play to your strengths. This can be a difficult task for some, but we all do have strengths and she shares small tasks to help you connect with your inner self and realise what your true strengths are. Give us two simple tips for quitting sugar. Jenn works with busy professional women and she understands that we need short actionable steps to help us unleash our potential: Eat when you are hungry - make sure you have foods readily available to you so that when you are hungry, even if you are busy, you are able to eat - listen to the podcast for some of Jenn's ideas for healthy meals on the go. 1 Day Experiment - everyone can quit sugar, alcohol, caffeine....whatever it is that you are trying to stop....for just one day. So make it a one day experiment that you keep repeating until it becomes a new habit. This epitomises Jenn's no nonsense but simple approach to life. Her strength is to be able to simplify - in a world where there is so much noise and confusion this is a strength we all can benefit from. So, hello beautiful humans. What is Sh!t You Don't Want to Talk About ? And that means I am reading this off the website cuz I worked really, really hard up for this. So this is what I'm reading together. We turn Sh!t You Don't Want to Talk About into Shit2TalkAbout. We stand to use the privilege we inherited to break the bullshit society has created to limit those who don't fit into a preconceived. We have witnessed discrimination and systemic issues. We stand to give a platform for those who have been silenced. We stand to bring clarity to topics that scare us. We use our curiosity to lean into discomfort, bring light to the darkness of shame that so many of us hide behind. We create a space for each human to show up as they are. We embrace that. Your story is your story, and my story is my story. We create boundaries. Take risk. Forgive ourselves, forgive others. Live with gratitude and choose to live outside our comfort zone. We all have trauma, but we, we work together. We can be the best versions of ourselves. We vow to be kind to you, to hear you, to see you to be present. For I finally read it. Yay. Expression will be like, Well, cool, Like that tells us a lot. But Jenn, why are you doing this? So yes, again, reading off the website because it has my bio of, um, Jenn has a story of her own as a child. She suffered solitary confinement, physical abuse, mental abuse, sexual abuse, rape, divorce, abortion, cutting in suicide. Her turbulent background has forged a path to help those who are suffering ignored and silenced. Sh!t You Don't Want to Talk About is a place people can come to find hope and healing, to know they're not alone, and finally be heard. Clearly, Jenns been through plenty of shit. Most people don't even want to acknowledge, let alone talk about. She thought she'd been dealt with her [00:03:00] past, but brain surgery in November, 2020 unleashed a tsunami of memories that couldn't be. Working through trauma, depression, anxiety, bipolar type to you and adhd will be a lifelong journey. Will be a lifelong journey. Jenn strives to break the stigma of Sh!t You Don't Want to Talk About and turn it into Shit2TalkAbout. Yay. Done with tablet. Yes. . I know there haven't been many episodes. Oh gosh. And since June, and this is coming out on November or, Yeah, so four months. Uh, couple things happened is I realized how difficult it is to do this project by. A lot of it has to do with, I no longer have a marketing team that I'm working with. It has a lot to do with the fact that I started a different show. Um, it's very weird to me because [00:04:00] they, these two shows are very, um, symbiotic. I'm not sure what the word is, but where they work together in unison. The new show is called Teach Gentech and it's where I have people come onto the show and teach me all about all this tech stuff and it's so intriguing and tech really helps create human connection. And at the same time, I started that show. Not having a marketing team or a team in general for Sh!t You Don't Want to Talk About , it became very, very overwhelming. The podcast, I like to call it, I have a podcast and then I have a stream. So the podcast was, is very, very emotional. It can be very traumatic. It is very, Emotionally draining and invigorating at the same time, and I have a very, very difficult time going and listening to something and being like, This is [00:05:00] the title of it, or this is the description of it when it comes to these. Difficult conversations where with Teach Gentech, it's a very logical conversation. It is black and white. It is, you know, I'm gonna be talking about computer things and computer people will understand it, and non-computer people will ask me none computery questions about it, where there's. It's like the podcast is like all the shit in between. And while I've been on break, I guess you could say, uh, of Sh!t You Don't Want to Talk About . I started a. Twitter space, uh, which is, um, about mental health and neurodiversity in tech for those who have never, um, who don't use the Twitters or been on a Twitter space. It's basically a chat room where [00:06:00] only x amount of people can, uh, be on stage to talk and everyone else has to listen. So it, it really is like an audio version of being on stage and. I've been able to help grow a community there. And so the podcast has still been living, and yet it's not because I have episodes to post yet, I've been, But Jenn, all of the social media and the titles and everything, what are you doing? And I've gotten so overwhelmed that I'm just like, I'll just do the stuff I know I'm doing and that is why the podcast has been on pause for so long. The reason I'm wanting to share an update now after it's been four months is it has been two years since my craniotomy. Which for those who don't know a craniotomy is brain surgery. I [00:07:00] had multiple or oid cys on my brain. I still do. They're kind of like, you can think of them as like little balls of fluid. And in 2020, November, 2020. My surgeon, I like to say he created a river in my brain. So my cyst was a lake and there's where bla brain fluid naturally is, I consider the ocean. And my surgeon created a scar tunnel, and that's what I call a river. And that happened two years ago, which led up to me starting the podcast in November, 2021, which that's been a year. Little over a year because I'm meant to have this go out last week, but I got sick so it's coming out this week instead. And there's been a lot of learning and changes and growth and life that has just come up, [00:08:00] uh, in the fact of almost the until June of. 22. It was a lot of like helping my father-in-law out. It was a lot of finding my own voice. It was, I had surgery that year. I've been looking for a job. It's been like all these little things that, this passion project of mine, I'm just like, Oh, I can't do it. And a lot of it was because it felt like I didn't have the support, even though people were wondering where it was. It was like, I didn. I wasn't asking for the help that I needed in my little love box. A lot of it had to do with because I didn't know what help to ask for. It's the social media. It's the podcast going out. It's paying attention to numbers and YouTube and Patreon and gear, and. [00:09:00] It just got also overwhelming that I am finally saying my favorite thing to say, which is, Fuck it. Uh, I don't care if there's social media for it. We're just gonna be putting out the podcast. And if you're on Twitter, you might get an alert that it came out because these stories are worth being told. And if others are out there and want to share it, it at least is there and eventually one day. I will get to a place where I can focus on social media as well. We being me, being all the listeners, being those who have been a guest on the show, we could really, really use your help. You can contribute and Patreon, you can also contribute on our PayPal. It's definitely something. If you have spare time and you like social media, you know, come be our social media person. Uh, if you want to get access to the podcast a little early [00:10:00] and write up descriptions and title the episode, let me know. It's something that I also am totally open to a cohost or somebody else doing the behind the scenes. Like this isn't just my journey. Yes, this is right now I'm doing. Mostly solo, yet I'm not doing it for myself. I want others to have access and hear these stories that are being silenced, so that way we are. We're not just stuck in our little bubbles. We, we have access to those who don't look like us or may not be like us, that have, don't have stories like us, because our shame tells us there's no one going through this like we are. Yet. Our stories show that there are, whether or not we're the same color, size, shape, sex, gender, whatever you [00:11:00] wanna call it. We all have dealt with that shame in some part, and that's when I'm asking for support, is to help share those stories. Not to specifically help me, but help the podcast. Two ways to get in touch with the podcast is on all social medias. It is shit, the number two. Talk about and it is that way because we need to all work on changing things from Sh!t You Don't Want to Talk About into Shit2TalkAbout. And we are that on LinkedIn, Twitter, not Twitch, cuz it doesn't have a twist. Um, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, it's, we're on all the platforms. Twitch, but you know, if we ever wanna do some live stuff, hit me up. Let's do it. And we can be on Twitch too.[00:12:00]

Intro: Minutes 0 to 7:45 We'll have more episode out next week and will be off two weeks for the holidays. We talk about the awards schedule early next year. I went to a tanning bed to help with my mood. Chandra says walking helps with that. Royal: Minutes 7:45 to 23:00 A few weeks ago, The CEO of Prince Charles' foundation, Michael Fawcett resigned following stories over the summer about how Charles traded titles and British citizenships to wealthy donors. Charles knew about all these schemes and he was the one giving the titles and meeting with these people. One of the more damning stories was about Saudi businessman Mahfouz Marei Mubarak bin Mahfouz. Mafouz was given a CBE by Charles in 2016. It says in Mahfouz's wiki that the CBE ceremony was private and wasn't published in the Court Circular! There was a story in The Times about Prince Harry meeting with this same Saudi businessman, Mafouz in 2013, for a £50,000 donation to Sentable. Harry issued a statement that he cut this man off in 2015. Chandra thinks that Charles put out this story about Harry as a distraction. In response to Harry's statement there were multiple sourced stories claiming that Prince Charles is so upset at Harry. A story from Richard Kay in the Daily Mail compared Harry to Diana. We got yet another version of the three-year-old “Meghan made Kate cry” at a bridesmaids fitting story. This story first came out in late 2018. We heard it was about the bridesmaids' dresses, then it was about the bridesmaids' tights. This time it's about Kate confronting Meghan about her treatment of staff. This story does not make Kate look good so we wonder why they're revisiting it with yet another explanation. Meghan talked about this on Oprah and said Kate made her cry and Kate brought her flowers afterwards. Follow up stories claimed Meghan slammed the door in Kate's face. I play a segment from Zoom where Zakia and Michelle talk about this. There's never been any evidence or details about Meghan allegedly bullying staff. Khloe Kardashian: Minutes 23:00 to 31:30 Tristan Thompson has cheated on Khloe Kardashian so many times and she's taken him back and sworn he's changed. They were together earlier this year and broke up in June. It's just coming out now that Tristan got another woman pregnant in March, a personal trainer named Maralee Nichols. That woman has filed a paternity suit against Tristan and there's a text message from him in that filing where he says he's only going to give her $75,000 and that if she is after child support she'll get nothing. Chandra reminds me that this wasn't the first time Tristan cheated on Khloe this year and that Khloe contacted the side chick. I remember a story from 2013 when Khloe stalked and confronted one of Lamar Odom's mistresses. In response to the pregnancy news we got all these overwrought sourced quotes from Khloe saying she thought he would change, that she is upset, etc. Khloe also tweeted that she's “barely in my own body right now.” We wonder why Khloe is still centering herself in this story when she and Tristan broke up in June. Comments of the Week: Minutes 31:30 to end Chandra's comments of the week are from Jenns and A.Key on the post about the Prime Minister of Finland partying until 4am. My comment of the week is from Bettyrose on the post about Sharon Gless saying she regrets gaining weight for a role. Thanks for listening bitches!

This week's 30 Rock gets us back on storylines as we're reminded Avery and Jack are having a baby and Avery sets some boundaries for Liz and Jack. Which. unfortunately, is bad timing for Liz as her dad is in town on a Gentleman's Intermission, and she doesn't have her mentor to give her any assistance. Elsewhere, when Kenneth learns about NBC's obituary series, he shows it to Tracy who thinks he's going to be remembered for being a buffon and sets out to change his public perception. And when Jenns learns her obituary doesn't even exist, sets out to create it and make it memorable. Intro: Minutes 0 to 8 I’ve been watching the new season of The Great British Baking Show with my mom, which Chandra loves too. Chandra is watching the docuseries Country Music on PBS by Ken Burns. We talk about Johnny Cash being a huge celebrity and friends with Bob Dylan and what a great show this is. We’re both hopeful after news of an impeachment inquiry, which is putting Chandra in a good mood. I don’t think he’ll be impeached but that it might mean we’re spared four more years. Emmys: Minutes 8 to 11:30 I have trouble falling asleep after big awards ceremonies. Chandra can fall asleep without a problem except on Oscars night. Big winners at the Emmys this year were Fleabag, which Hecate watched but didn’t love, Chernobyl and Game of Thrones. I watched Chernobyl and wish some of the actors would have won instead of the writers. Chandra avoided it because of what a downer it was. Game of Thrones won because it was their last season. Peter Dinklage won despite his character’s lousy story arc. Royals: Minutes 11:30 to 23 We got to see Baby Archie who is huge and looks “scooped out of his daddy’s ass,” as Chandra puts it. Archie is adorable and looks like he’s got a lot of personality. Meghan has been wearing simple, uncontroversial outfits on this African tour. I’ve liked her looks and think she’s trying to keep the focus on her visits. Chandra wishes Meghan hadn’t repeated so many looks from her last tour, especially since she wore a $13,000 dress to a wedding in Rome. She talks about the controversy over Meghan’s hair being half covered, but still hanging out during her visit to a mosque. I thought that was deliberate so she wasn’t criticized for trying too hard. Neither of us liked her dress at that visit, which was baggy and olive-colored. We both liked her black Everlane jumpsuit and her Martin Grant maxi dress. Minute 18: Princess Beatrice got engaged to a guy named Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi . Her ring is pretty but understated. It’s a similar design to Meghan’s ring. We agree that it’s not worth the £300,000 that The Sun says it’s worth. Chandra wonders how much of a blue blood Edoardo is and calls him “trash adjacent,” which is definitely true now. Demi Moore: Minutes 23 to 28 Demi Moore said in her new book that she had threesomes with Ashton Kutcher, that they left her feeling ashamed, and that Ashton Kutcher cheated on her during their marriage. We’ve know Ashton is a cheater for years because two different mistresses came out, on the record, to gossip outlets at the time. Chandra reminded me of that time that Scott Eastwood said his girlfriend cheated on him with Ashton, when Ashton was married. Ashton’s response to Demi’s book was petty and lame but we had to logout of Twitter to see it because he blocked both of us years ago. Chandra talks about her tweet on Emmy’s night calling out Tim Allen for being a Maga, which went viral and drew the attention of the Maga loonies. By saying Ashton is an a-hole we’re not saying Demi is a saint. Brad Pitt: Minutes 28 to 31 Brad Pitt is covering US Magazine with the news that he has a new girlfriend, a 50-year-old jewelry designer and holistic healer named Sat Hari Khalsa. We think it’s cool that she’s age-appropriate for Brad, who is 55. Chandra mentioned the news that Sat Hari was allegedly a sober companion to the Red Hot Chili Peppers, which may explain how she met Brad. I found the website for her jewelry line and the pieces are Indian-influenced and crazy expensive. I ask Chandra if Brad is both leaking the news that he’s with this woman and then denying it. She said she thinks that’s the case, because he did that with Neri Oxman. User Questions: Minutes 31 to 34:30 Maggie asked us in a text if we have any LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian news which didn’t make the site. They did contact us and I got a lawyer involved as I explain. My decision about that matter was based on LeAnn naming Celebitchy in a lawsuit against another blogger who had recorded a phone call with LeAnn and posted it. That lawsuit was dismissed. We haven’t heard about LeAnn in a while but assume that Eddie is cheating on her because that’s who he is. I thank LaUnica Angelina and Lila who both gave us nice feedback! Comments of the Week: Minutes 34:30 to 38 My comments of the week are from Luna and Original LaLa about Hillary Clinton’s awesome new look and the impeachment party dress code. Chandra’s comments of the week are from Jenns and Diana on the post about Jennifer Lopez’s shady 1998 interview. Thanks for listening bitches! Our number to text or leave a message is 434-218-3219.

Dr. Jenn Chrisman is a licensed clinical psychologist, speaker, master coach, host of the newly top rated Love Your Truth podcast, and forthcoming author who is committed to guiding people into their highest potential through inspiring radical self-reflection and offering practical direction. She knew early on that she wanted to help others live better lives. With her formative years colored by obstacles and hardships she learned to draw from the power of resilience at a very young age. The experiences of her life have left her with a profound capacity for empathy and understanding, as well as a passion for helping others advocate for their own lives. This, coupled with an innate inclination towards being a seeker, naturally led her to the field of Psychology, ultimately receiving a doctorate in Clinical Psychology. While her doctoral education and formal training has provided her with valuable knowledge about different theories, interventions, and mental health, it is her life experiences and intuitive nature that makes her truly special at what she does and capable of guiding others on their own paths. Her quest to find meaning and purpose in her own life has led her to whole-heartedly believe in the healing power of compassion, tolerance, and human connection. After building, and out-growing, a successful private practice in Los Angeles, Dr. Jenn Chrisman began coaching other therapists and healing professionals on how to grow and market a heart-centered business. With the success of her online business, A Perfect Practice, she found herself with a gnawing sense of dissatisfaction, and she again was forced to go deeper and explore what more her soul’s journey was calling for. While Dr. Jenn Chrisman excelled at teaching and inspiring others in business, her heart craved more soulful work, returning to her roots and expanding on what she does best, connecting, she launched her podcast, Love Your Truth, in November 2018 and it quickly climbed the iTunes top 100 chart in self-help. Guests of her show frequently comment on how skilled she is at asking the questions that lead to deeply impactful and unique interviews. She is known for asking the question behind the question. In addition to hosting the Love Your Truth podcast, she also runs a personal mastery online course 3 times a year, works privately with clients, is finishing her book due out in March 2019, and is planning her first retreat in October of 2019. And finally, Dr. Jenn Chrisman is a mother, which has significantly shaped her perception of self, others, and the world. As she is on a lifelong journey of self-discovery, she was profoundly impacted by the transition into motherhood. She has come to believe that we all come into this world with a great capacity for being loved and loving in return; there is no greater reminder fo the pureness of the human spirit than looking into the eyes of a child. Jenn wants women to embrace and love every aspect of themselves. She defines acceptance as moving to a place of neutrality and allowing yourself to accept that things are the way they are and not necessarily preference. Jenn explains her signature "passengers on the bus" analogy. The bus analogy encourages one to look at his or her past and see what areas are still hanging around and taking over the present. Jenn explains how being willing is vital to health: being willing to change, being willing to accept positive things, or being willing to love yourself! Perfectionism is your own super imposed prison- unknown Taking the upgrade for Jenn means being conscious and making the choice of who you want to be. One of the most pivotal upgrades that Jen has made in her life was joining an Elite Mastermind Group last year. Jenn is currently reading Happy Pocket Full Of Money by David Cameron Gikandi One thing that Jenn can’t live without is soul cycle. A favorite snack of Jenns is sliced apples sprinkled with lemon and cinnamon, sometimes paired with almonds or almond butter! I had the pleasure of talking with someone that I've been following for a while, Jenn Herman, from Jenn's Trends. We discussed ways to get the most out of Instagram with tips, and more. Jenn Herman has a unique perspective on business and success on social media, which earned her the prestige of being on the list of Top 10 Social Media Blogs three years in a row: 2014, 2015, and 2016. She is also the author of The Ultimate Beginner's Guide to Instagram and Stop Guessing. Right now, 65% of the world's top brands use Instagram and Jenn says the number continues to grow. There are 200 million monthly active users on Instagram, 70% of which log in daily. This is a huge base of people for marketers to reach. No matter who your target audience is, some of them will use the platform. You'll hear why you can reach people more clearly through Instagram than you can with any other platform. As a marketer, you should aim to create original images for Instagram. There are many different ways to incorporate your products and services into an image to make it look more native and get better engagement. Jenn WW shares her love for tracking money and budgeting, food prepping for the week on Sundays, and foam rolling to reduce chronic pain. Not surprisingly, Jenn O has her own set of micro-habits. Gratitude journaling, taking time in the morning to enjoy tea and read tarot, and going outside to get some fresh air and sunshine (especially before the cold weather sets in!) are the little habits that make her day that much better. And together, the Jenns sing the praises of a shared micro-habit: going to bed early. While it sometimes means early evenings, it also means waking early and feeling focused and productive. #worthit We hope this episode gives you some ideas for easy-to-implement habits that can make a big difference. Or even better, you can give yourself credit for something you’re already doing! We’d love to hear about your micro-habits over in our Facebook group, “Making Life Work” or tag us on any of our social media handles and let us know what little things make a big difference in your life.
