The Birth Pangs Intensify Tom Donnan pt 1 I have guests come on this program all of the time. I do between 3 and 5 and sometimes 6 interviews each week. I've noticed recently that many guests are discussing the end time, the Book of Revelation and / or things happening in this world. There is a Spiritual awakening happening in the Body of Christ right now – that the Day of the Lord is at hand. For some, they deny such things. They blame it all on “Climate Change.” Or, Russia and China. Some blame still blame Donald Trump. But for believers, true believers, they don't blame anyone but the devil. Praise God. I'm telling people, almost on a daily basis, that NONE of these things worry me. Not one. Not inflation. Not COVID. Not wars. Not crime in the streets. Why? Because I see prophecy coming to pass right before my eyes. And I know how it all turns out. Yes, I'm not going to lie. It does “concern” me. But my hope rests, completely, in Jesus. Amen Our good friend, Tom Donnan, is back today to discuss more things that deal with all of these same issues. The Lord shares these things with Tom through dreams and visions and he is back today to share some recent things the Lord has shown to him. And how they are coming to pass, not at some point in the future – but right now, every single night – on television. Praise God. That is some pretty intense things that are happening or soon to happen. Again, just like Jesus said they would be happening immediately prior to His return. We hardly ever have a session like this when we do not talk about earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and things like that. Have you recently seen what was happening in the Azores Islands? 27000 quakes in a day in the Azores Island chain as they get ready for an eruption. https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=mN2_kYDPMvo (Azores volcanic island prepares for disaster after thousands of small earthquakes - YouTube) END PART ONE I recently seen news reports about new lockdowns in China. In fact, it's been widely reported that China is telling their citizens “shut up and stop complaining” or face arrests.  That sounds like a wonderful place to live, doesn't it? Food Riots around the world. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOTh6jiRNxU (Riots break out in China as starving residents revolt against ‘Zero COVID' lockdown - YouTube) Record breaking start to the Tornado season.  It seems each year, there are more and more tornadoes than the previous year. As I referenced in the opening, it's being blamed on “Climate Change” rather than prophecy. Have you seen anything that relates to the increased intensity of weather phenomenon? https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=ATkmJxqG9Ss (Record setting number of U.S. tornadoes in March 2022 - YouTube) Tornados, for the most part, are isolated points of destruction. Hitting one spot; then jumping to another. I came across a video stating the USA is having a record number of tornado's this season, 218 so far as of this first week in April. Combined this to the earthquake dream shows an increased destruction to people's lives. 4-9-22. Tornado's Dream I keep having dreams with tornados in them. This morning I had one. It started, I was headed east on 95th near Kedzie. I first saw small debris in the sky swirling around. Then I saw the mild tornado still in the atmosphere. It had clipped a tall structure. I watched as the tornado roped out and drifted down to 99th street. I drove into a parking structure on 95th for protection and to see it. Again I saw it, however it was right above me, very close, spinning slowly. I looked up as in a daze. Next, I look into becoming a volunteer at Christ Hospital. I mingled with the workers, talk and ask questions. Several seem interested in me. I talk with the staff, interact with them, because I worked there for 25 years they were open to me. I was on a tour in the hospital, they brought us into a storeroom/...

MSU African American and African Studies “unicorns” drive Black futures beyond survival into wellness

AAAS at MSU was initially founded as a PhD granting program in 2002. On July 1, 2019, AAAS became a department. In Spring 2020, MSU appointed Brown the inaugural chair.“We insist that Black studies uncovers and creates technologies of living for Black people and Black futures,” says Brown. “And when we say Black people, we mean all Black people. And when we say Black futures, we mean beyond survival into wellness. We are continuing to build and expand with the addition of new faculty hires and new courses.”Brown says that students can major in African American and African Studies at MSU. And she describes how the department is evolving. The department is getting exciting new physical space in Kedzie in time for fall semester that will include wellness and social rooms.“That was a resounding message that I heard from the students is that they want opportunities to be together, certainly for our triple AAAS majors, but for all students who feel connected to our curriculum and are excited about the vision in Black feminisms, Black genders, and Black sexualities studies.”Brown talks about the accomplished and passionate additions to the department's faculty. Dill talks about her background and what attracted her to AAAS at MSU.“What attracted me to AAAS was the centering, the unapologetic centering of Black feminisms, which is unique and rare and nuanced, particularly in Black studies, but also across disciplines in the academy,” says Dill. “It was this calling and shouting out that Black feminisms are the center. It's not an elective, it's not an afterthought; it's the center for everything they do. And so, much like I've lived my life and grounded my scholarship in that, that attracted me.“I sometimes describe myself as a unicorn. Having this horn sticking out, this mythical character. But I specifically came here to AAAS because I realized that there were other unicorns. There was a whole department of unicorns, knocking through doors with our magic horn. But also landing safely and sometimes softly here at MSU that is welcoming us. Being here is not the disruption. We're realizing that the other dreams that we have and are still manifesting might be the disruption.“I am focused on Black girl wellness. I'm trained in public health, so a lot of my public health training has been thinking about not just illness and not just disease, but wellness, thriving, and resilience. And I love that part of AAAS's mission and vision of beyond survival into wellness. I'm excited here at AAAS to think even more broadly around wellness.”Dill talks about how poetry goes hand in hand with her scholarly work and how it perhaps even informs it.“I've been a poet longer than I've been a scholar. I've been writing poetry since I was in elementary school. I developed more of my poetic techniques as a high school student, using it as my own coping mechanism, running to my journals, but also running to Black poets either on my mom's bookshelf or in the bookstores that I found in my community who were sometimes reflecting my life, sometimes imagining lives that I hadn't even imagined, but also running to the pin to get out some things that I couldn't always articulate in words or out loud.”Dill shares her poem Testimony and talks about some of her responsibilities in AAAS. She also describes the importance of mindfulness and meditation. Brown describes the “creative intention” that permeates AAAS and shares the poem Study by Yolanda Sealey-Ruiz.“We have a tremendous amount of gratitude for our MSU colleagues for being there and welcoming us at every step of the way,” Brown says. “They have served on committees and shared their generosity and ideas. It has made a world of difference in terms of us being able to do our best work. We are indebted to the sacrifice and receive well the responsibility to carry forward the dreams of generations, and we are acting with great hope and with great enthusiasm for the generations yet to come. So, to the alumni, please keep sending students to us. We look forward to actively working and building with you all. And to all those administrators who are noticing what we're doing, who are creating the space and providing the resources for us to do our best work, we are in partnership, and I like to think we are just getting started.”MSU Today airs Saturdays at 5 p.m. and Sundays at 5 a.m. on WKAR News/Talk and Sundays at 8 p.m. on 760 WJR. This must be one of the most diverse blocks in the city. To my left, a renovated three-story brick apartment building housing a hair salon in its storefront. Next to it, a vacant lot is fenced off. Across the street, a small mom-and-pop Mexican restaurant sits next to a car repair shop, which sits next to a Walgreens. My destination was on the other side of a vacant lot next to a hair salon. It is a nondescript two-story brick office building and blends in perfectly with the surroundings.I'm running a few minutes late, so the sound of music was already coming from the auditorium as I walked through the fiberglass doors and up the stairwell to the second floor. Later on, a speaker came to the podium on the front stage and gave a presentation about the good work this organization was doing in the surrounding neighborhoods through their food pantry. The speaker noted that this partnership - between members of two different immigrant groups residing in Albany Park - was doing such a good job of providing “food for all” that the neighborhood's alderman highlighted the work of the food pantry in the ward's monthly newsletter. As I joined the audience in applause, I felt a deep sense of pride. It wasn't a sense of pride that came from accomplishment. I did not do any work related to this food pantry. I did not donate money or goods to this effort. I did not even know the pantry existed until five minutes ago. My sense of pride did not come from a shared experience with the audience members assembled in this space. I did not know anyone here. I had not participated in the life of this community. I don't even live on this side of town. And yet, the strong sense of pride that welled up within me came from a sense that these were my people, a sense shared by many Americans when they are surrounded by a critical mass of people whose ethnic ancestry traces back to the same country or region as their own.The journey continues in the Albany Park neighborhood on the north side, at the corner of Kedzie Avenue and Montrose.Intro Theme Music: Victory Lap by QSTN ft. On this morning in Logan Square, the main boulevard is busy with joggers, parents pushing strollers, and double-parked cars in front of two large Catholic churches. An upbeat gospel song plays softly over the loudspeakers as people enter the auditorium in groups of 2-4. Everyone seems like they have known each other for a while. They are comfortable with each other, and are in the middle of extended conversations as the event begins.A six-person band led the audience in a song with the chorus, “A mighty fortress is our God” as the main speaker came to the front stage and offered this commentary to the audience.“Back then, 400 years ago, when the [song's] author wrote these lyrics, a town or village without a mighty fortress was in big trouble. And today, without a strong fortress, you and I are in big trouble.”The band then led the audience in another song, and about 10 people formed a line along the base of the stage and invited audience members to come forward if they wanted someone to pray with them.As some people in the audience walked up to the front stage, one or two members of this 10-person team prayed with them. Some of these prayer sessions lasted for several minutes, yet the members of the 10-person team seemed okay with taking the time, no one seemed to be in a rush.I watched as each person who walked up to the front concluded their prayer session by raising their head, smiling at their prayer partners, and embracing them in a heartfelt hug.I was moved by watching similar scenes unfold at the front stage, for what seemed like 10 minutes I wonder what it must have meant to the audience members who participated to begin their week this way.I was reminded of the times when I've seen people in parks, malls, and busy streets holding signs that say FREE HUGS. We know that so many people in our country suffer from a lack of love. What could happen if more people found places and spaces where they could get a prayer and a hug? What could happen if more people found places and spaces where they were free to unburden themselves and share their concerns with someone who was willing to listen...and not judge? The journey continues on the northwest side, at the corner of Kedzie Blvd. and Albany.Intro Theme Music: Victory Lap by QSTN ft. Listen Inside - Daily book previews from Readers in the Know by Simon Denman

Synopsis These are linked stories, in the spirit of Ray Bradbury's Dandelion Wine. They are about a sixteen-year old girl, Kedzie Greer, who was raised in a utopian community and leaves home to make her way in a dystopian society. The year is 2199; the place, the Reunited States. In these stories, technology coexists with a haunted world. There are witches and robots, ghosts and e-beasts, a mystical lake and a human warehouse. Excerpt In the end, it was the town gates that got to Kedzie. The gates were symbols of the caged feeling that was driving her crazy, and the fact that they had stood for hundreds of years was particularly maddening. Except for the summer tourists who came to gawk at what they called its quaintness, no one new ever showed up in Stillwater. Everybody who was already there knew everybody else who was already there. She could not walk past those heavy ironwork gates without wanting to shake them and cry out. The vigilbots that manned the gates were polite and amiable. They said hello and wished you Godspeed. Although in 2199 vigilbots could be legally programmed to kill, the worst the Stillwater bots could do was surround people and deliver mild, persistent electric shocks. This, too, exasperated Kedzie. Why bother having a defense if it did not actually defend you? Kedzie had ridden her bicycle over every street in Stillwater. She had been inside most of the houses. She had been to every community celebration: Christmas, Yule, Thanksgiving, Halloween, the first day of spring, summer, fall, winter. She had been to every picnic, done every volunteer job. Every step she took, she had taken before. All the shopkeepers said, “Hi, Kedzie,” when she entered. Kind Mr. Glimm always gave her a piece of candy, not caring to notice that she was an adult of sixteen. In the Reunited States in 2199, sixteen-year-olds were economically accountable for themselves. They had no legal right to be supported by anyone. Kedzie was so well-loved that it never occurred to her that one of the consequences of turning sixteen was that her parents could force her out. All she knew was that if she wanted to leave, her parents had no legal power to make her stay. Kedzie’s parents, Julia Margoles and Adele Freyer, practiced white witchcraft. As faithfully as any believers of old, they celebrated the Sabbats, they prayed to the God and Goddess. They did no harm to any creature on Earth. Kedzie had heard them say many times that they lived in harmony with “the great round”—the turning earth and the tenets of their faith. It was fortunate that they never pressured Kedzie to adopt their beliefs, because she did not believe in anything they said or did. The idea of devoting her life to benign witchcraft—home, community, nature, and smiling—made her itch and toss restlessly in bed. She did not see what was so great about those elaborate stories her parents called spells: Now walk into the forest. In a clearing, you will see a golden well with a bucket suspended from a rope. Lower the bucket into the well. All her parents’ incantations sounded like that. “We live in a false bubble,” she said to her parents. “Stillwater is unreal.” Her mother Julia said that Stillwater was the real world. “Outside is the place of unreality,” she said. “It is not easy to live as we do,” her mother Adele said. “We have to choose to do right every day of our lives, and it can be very, very tiresome. We do not alway
