During the ebb and flow of life we experience many seasons. As a woman there are seasonsAs a mother there are seasonsandAs a business owner there are seasons. There are also so many parallels amongst them. In this episode with my guest Shanda Wallace of The Harbor Salon in Los Angeles, California we discuss this and so much more! Shanda shares what it was like starting in the beauty industry at a young age, evolving into an educator, starting a family as a stylist and why she trusts her intuition and discernment when moving forward. In this episode we also discuss how going back to work after having children can be scary, because now we have a "new job" (raising our baby) that requires so much from us. You're going to love what Shanda has to say about this and how she maneuvered through these challenges 4 times! As someone who has dealt with migraines for most of my life, stress management has always been a critical component of managing my migraines. But like most people with multiple kids, a demanding career or business, and a plethora of tugging priorities, managing stress can be extremely difficult. Additionally, to help manage my migraines, I turned to the field of Chiropractic. Chiropractic care can often be misunderstood. To explain what Chiropractic care is and isn't, my guest this week is Dr. JR Muldoon, a Chiropractic Neurologist and owner of NeuroLogic Chiropractic Center. In our conversation, we discuss how JR chose to focus on the niche field of neurology within the Chiropractic space, making him a leader within the field and how that translates into better care for his patients. JR talks about the changes he has seen in his patients, both mentally and physically, due to the impacts of COVID-19. Please enjoy my conversation with Nick Raich. Scripture Readings: http://www.usccb.org/bible/readings/032920.cfm Summary: Lesson #5 from Jesus comes today: The destination of our Earthly pilgrimage is resurrection and eternal life in Heaven. It can be very easy to lose sight of our hoped-for destination. When we lose sight or forget about it, that’s when we can make wrong decisions. That’s when we are tempted to choose false things, to settle for things that are less than Heaven. Each year, our Lenten Pilgrimage comes along to help us turn back to God and set our sights anew on our hoped-for destination of resurrection and eternal life with God in Heaven.
The Gospel reading for the Fifth Sunday of Lent is another familiar and favorite story. Jesus raises his good friend, Lazarus, from the grave. Fr. Philip Smith and Donna Couch reflect on the deep feelings Jesus exhibits as he bursts into tears as he draws close to where they have laid Lazarus. We are given another glimpse of Jesus who shares in our humanity in all ways except for sin. As we consider our own lives, what is dead in us that needs to be resurrected?
In today’s episode, Rhonda and Lori have a deep life chat with Darlene Fast. Darlene describes herself as a true introvert, in this candid conversation she goes deep about her own anxiety, raising 2 special needs kids, battling depression including postpartum depression all while pressing into her relationship with Jesus for hope and strength. She offers many incredible words of wisdom, clothed in humility, joyful laughter and heartfelt tears. If you have ever had to deal with a life circumstance that you never imagined, this is a conversation you want to hear.

In this episode, Patrick welcomes Dylan Volk. After years of what his parents called “the diagnosis of the month club,” Dylan was diagnosed with High Functioning Autism at the age of eight. Life has been a minefield of obstacles for Dylan. When he was little, he struggled with learning the rules and following directions that did not make sense to him. As he got older, he was challenged, especially socially, by a world that seemed extremely confusing to him, with a disability that to most was invisible. Even today, Dylan works hard to figure out what he needs to do in order to get through each day as a 27-year-old adult with autism in our fast-paced and often unforgiving society. Dylan graduated from Sedgefield High School in 2010 and is currently pursuing his goal of making it in the entertainment industry. He has a YouTube channel under his stage name “Real Dielawn” where viewers are treated on a daily basis to a look inside his one-of-a-kind mind. Dylan has also been a regular on SiriusXM's “Dirty Pop Live” hosted by Lance Bass, heard formerly on OutQ Channel 106 and RadioAndy Channel 102. He has hosted his own radio show, “Ridin with Dielawn” which aired Saturday nights in Portland, Maine on WLOB 100.5-FM and via his podcast. Dylan has been enjoying his experiences speaking about his life and the book he wrote with his father. His presentations to thousands of people from coast to coast have been overwhelmingly well-received. He hopes his work helping his father write Chasing the Rabbit: A Dad's Life Raising a Son on the Autism Spectrum and his new book, Bad Choices Make Good Stories: My Life with Autism, will help families as they navigate through the difficulties of living life on the spectrum. He currently resides in Los Angeles, CA. Find Dylan here: https://dylandielawnvolk.com/ Stay tuned for more amazing guests and content. Patrick

Kara and her husband Ashley care for Grayson, along with their two younger children, dealing with everything that life throws at them.I wanted to chat to Kara about her journey as a mum to a disabled son with special needs - how it has affected her, how she dealt with the emotional side of being told her son had brain damage and a genetic condition, how it affects her relationship with Ashley but also the dynamics of raising their two younger children too.Kara blogs at Innocent Charms Chats and you can follow her on Instagram - plus her second account all about Grayson - Raising A Superhero - is here.Music: Epidemic Sound See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

In this episode, Dr. K. interviews Derek Volk. Derek is a businessman, Autism advocate, volunteer, philanthropist, softball coach, and author, who resides in Maine with his family. Derek published Chasing the Rabbit: A Dad’s Life Raising a Son on the Spectrum, and shares his personal experiences raising a son who is on the Autism spectrum. Both Derek, and his son, Dylan, write about the challenges, triumphs and coping strategies from the early days to the adolescent years, to life in the “real world” when Dylan is a young adult. Their book showcases the unique relationship between a father and his son, who has spent his entire life "chasing the rabbit".
Derek Volk is a Maine businessman, volunteer, philanthropist, softball coach and President of Volk packaging corporation. He chats with Lee about running the family business and shares the story behind the unexpected success of Chasing the Rabbit, his book about a dad's life raising his son on the spectrum.
Derek Volk is president of Volk Packaging Corporation, a Biddeford-based maker of custom packaging. He's also the author of 'Chasing the Rabbit - a Dad's Life Raising a Son on the Spectrum', about raising a child with autism. This episode was a lot of fun to do, with a discussion of both business in Maine and adapting the workplace to the needs of employees. Derek and the entire company have remained leaders in this area and are to be commended for it. Of note is that Derek's son Dielawn Volk is now offering autism coaching services. This is a brand new, and I think very innovative service. It's suitable for both prospective employees or for prospective employers. An initial 1/2 hour consult is free. Mr. Money Mustache shares exactly how he manages to raise his family on under $27,000 per year. This is Part 3 of 3. Episode 95: My Deprived Life: Raising a Family on Under $27,000 Per Year - Part 3 by Mr. Money Mustache (Overspending). Mr. Money Mustache is a thirty-something retiree who now writes about how we can all live a frugal, yet awesome, life of leisure. He and his wife studied engineering and computer science in Canada, then worked in standard tech-industry cubicle jobs in various locations throughout the late '90s and early 2000s. Then they retired from real work way back in 2005 in order to start a family. This was achieved not through luck or amazing skill, but simply by living a lifestyle about 50% less expensive than most of their peers and investing the surplus in very boring conservative Vanguard index funds and a rental house or two. O'Connor, and Ruth Nolan will read from their included pieces in No Place for a Puritan, a new anthology of California desert literature, edited by Nolan.
