In the time since we recorded the interview, they've come out with a new album, and with several new music videos, including for the track Love, shot with no cuts…just “mirrors, robotics, and a whole lot of planning.” Enjoy! *** Not many bands hire Russian pilots to film a Zero-G video on their cosmonaut training plane, known as the “vomit comet”. But those are the kinds of extremes that OK Go will go to in the pursuit of creativity. Tim Nordwind and Damian Kulash, the band's founders, met at camp as pre-teens in search of a fellow creative nerd, and founded the band in 1998. Over the past 25 years, they've created 3 Grammy-nominated music videos, and won Best Music Video for Here It Goes Again. From the perfectly timed explosions filmed in slow-motion for their song The One Moment, to the immensely elaborate Rube Goldberg contraption they created for This Too Shall Pass, OK Go is almost like a performance-art troupe that just happens to be a fantastic rock band. In this episode on the creative process, we talk to Tim and Damian about how they come up with ideas, the macro and micro elements of their creativity, and achieving the impossible. *** Premium Episodes on Design Better This ad-supported episode is available to everyone. Christian Zyp interviews Rob Grant (writer/director) about his feature THIS TOO SHALL PASS. See the Alberta Premiere of the film at the Calgary Underground Film Festival on Saturday April 26th, 2025 @ 6:30 pm at the Globe Cinema. Rob Grant will be in attendance, plus local cast & crew for a Q&A after the screening.THIS TOO SHALL PASS focuses on sheltered 16-year-old Simon Benson, desperate for autonomy from his strict Mormon upbringing. So, he rebels by skipping town with friends for a weekend in Canada. Going into his senior year, Simon feels the cultural uncertainty of the year 1987. To add to his anxiety, his family is one of very few Mormon families in Syracuse, NY – suffocating him with strict rules. But Simon leads a double life. Away from his family, Simon is a lover of rock music who smokes the occasional joint. When a girl from school implies that she'd like to see him in Ottawa, Simon steals his father's church money and convinces his best friends – Tim, Chris, James, and John – to ditch their camping plans, and take a trip to Canada. Shot in Calgary, CUFF alum Rob Grant's (CUFF 2019 Audience Award Winner HARPOON) latest feature is a coming-of-age story about ever-escalating circumstances that force evaluations on one's perceived beliefs.

Omoluabi Podcast | Season 7 Episode 2A Proverb on Hope and PatienceProverb:Ó pẹ́ títí aboyún, oṣù mẹ́sàn-án. (Translation: "The longest respite for the pregnant woman is nine months.")Key Takeaway:This episode delves into an African proverb about pregnancy, using it as a lens to explore biblical themes ofhope, patience, andperseverance during challenging times. The proverb emphasises thatwaiting periods, like pregnancy, have definite endpoints, bringing into perspective the popular saying,"This Too Shall Pass."Although pregnancy might seem like a pause from regular life, it brings its own unique challenges while leading to a transformative new beginning. Through this metaphor, we draw powerful parallels between pregnancy and other life challenges, demonstrating thatevery difficult season eventually concludes, ushering in either relief or new obstacles to overcome. By weaving together these themes with biblical teachings on faith and endurance, the episode encourages listeners to maintain hope during trials, trust in God's guidance, and stay focused on positive outcomes even when facing significant hardships.Scriptural References:Romans 5:5 – Hope that does not disappointPsalm 79:9 – Asking for God's help2 Corinthians 4:17-18 – Temporary struggles vs. Eternal gloryJames 1:2-4 – Joy in trials and developing patience

When things are good remember: It won't always be this way.  Enjoy every great moment” Today's healing meditation will explore living in the present moment….and being ok with the transient nature of life. The impermanence of life….the struggles…..and the strength within you to overcome any obstacle…everything is temporary…... Let's center..calling your Spirit, Guides and Masters to surround you in healing for the highest and greatest good ... .place any intentions you may have in your heart…..and so it is and so be it.  Find yourself in a comfortable relaxed position……. If you feel more relaxed lying down do so…close down your eyes… Place a hand on your heart…….say silently……this too shall pass 3x…….feeling your heart accept this mantra…..inhale and exhale..deeply…..PAUSE Feel the relaxation in your face and forehead….relax your brow…..another deep breath in and exhale……. Notice the softening of your chest……be gentle with yourself…relaxing and letting go…… Your mind is accustomed to worrying…. use these words as an anchor to settle it down…..PAUSE Understand that just as the clouds drift across the sky……so too will your challenges pass…. Visualize yourself as the sky itself—unchanging and vast……..while the challenges are merely temporary phenomena………Repeat the mantra again….."This too shall pass," feeling it's comforting reassurance………PAUSE Feel your shoulders melt away from your ears……and down your back………PAUSE You have been carrying the weight of worry on your shoulders……it is time to place it down……PAUSE Keep coming back to the breath…..your body is more relaxed now……. Now….go behind your physical eyes….to your inner eyes……and begin to visualize yourself on a path……… The path is clear as you look down… see your feet beneath you…….you are walking forward….PAUSE The forest is supporting you….. nourishing you and giving you strength….. The trees around you emanate a special energy…….you can feel it….in your being…. They give you clarity…and strength….. filling your entire being with optimism and faith in the future……….PAUSE You feel so good ... .so cohesive and at peace……. You hear in the echoes of the whispering trees once again “This too shall pass”...... You are comforted by the words………. Settle in now….and allow yourself to go deeper…….. The music will play…..I will bring you back soon……..LONG PAUSE Slowly return…….returning slowly….take full breaths in and out…… Welcome back to your surroundings……… Carry the wisdom of "This Too Shall Pass" with you……. embracing each moment with grace and resilience…….PAUSE Gently….slowly open your eyes……returning to the present moment with a renewed sense of peace and clarity……. When the mind wavers remember “This too shall pass”.... Healing Blessings~ Namaste

What does parenthood look like without the traditional authoritative fear often emphasized in our culture? Join us on "This Too Shall Pass" as we explore the raw and honest journey of single motherhood within the black community. From the cultural nuances of enjoying an espresso martini to the laughter-filled yet revealing conversations it sparks, we share personal stories that highlight the struggles and triumphs of parenting five children solo. Carla and Paola join me as we shift the conversation to my apprehensions about re-entering the dating scene, navigating the murky waters of online dating, and exploring the hesitant yet hopeful forays into platforms like Hinge.   Our conversation takes a deeper turn as we discuss the importance of co-parenting, personal growth, and the unique challenges of raising children, particularly boys. We reflect on the influence of upbringing on love languages and the struggle to foster independence and responsibility in our kids while maintaining love and support. Personal anecdotes reveal the pressures of being the eldest sibling and balancing household chores, emphasizing the need for positive and respectful parent-child relationships. Through it all, we navigate the societal and familial expectations that shape our parenting journey, striving for a balance that allows our children to flourish.     Follow Ariel: Instagram: @‌the_arielb TikTok: @‌the_arielb Website: This Too Shall Pass Podcast ‌ Watch Full Video On YouTube ‌ Email your letters/advice questions to thearielbpod@gmail.com or call 321-300-6082  Join the email list HERE and don't miss an episode or Exclusive merch drop This podcast is produced and edited by Idea to Launch Productions

S3E2 – 4th Quarter 2023 Economic Review

Join Dave and Nick as they review 2023's fourth-quarter economy and give a current market update. We do this once a quarter to go through and see what happened last quarter and talk about what that potentially means for the future. Watch on YouTube HERE How Did We Do the 4th Quarter? The fourth quarter was pretty darn good. The Wall Street Journal called it The Everything Rally in late December. Every subclass of stocks was positive, and every bond category in the U.S. was positive. It was quite the fourth quarter. It's a good time to be a financial advisor. People think we look really smart in the fourth quarter, even though we did absolutely nothing. This is especially amazing when you consider where we came from and what people thought was going to happen last year. The forecasts for 2023 were so gloomy. It was really hard to be positive about anything last January, and that's just not how it played out. This just underlines that you can't predict with any reliability. We are measuring a good market return instead of the recession that was expected. It looks like the Fed may have pulled off the soft landing scenario, which is where they were able to raise interest rates drastically and bring inflation down drastically, and yet still we have strong economic numbers in terms of unemployment and consumer spending. "This Too Shall Pass" We use this phrase a lot when the markets are down, but it also is important to remember when the economy and the markets are good. One of the things we love to do on these market updates is give three positive signals and three reasons for concern. The Positives It was a very strong year for investor returns, even with all of the noise. If we look at the numbers for 2023, there were zero recessions in 2023, despite all the talking heads on Wall Street saying we would have one. Inflation fell from 9% in the Fall of 2022 to 3.1% by November of 2023. The Fed's target is 2%. But definitely, the trend was better than expected and in the right direction. One of the biggest outcomes of all this is now there is income and fixed income again. Just getting back to a normal relationship between cash and bonds and stocks, the interest component of bonds is an important part of that. The closer you get to retirement, the more you want to be a little bit more conservative, which means you're holding more bonds. And now it will pay you, which is extremely beneficial when you put together portfolios. Either way, holding bonds is a positive component of portfolios. The Concerns Large company stocks have been driven by an exceedingly small number of participants. We're calling them the Magnificent Seven now. Apple in 2023 was up 48.9%, Microsoft 58%, Alphabet Google 58.3%,  Amazon 80.9%,  Meta 194%, and Tesla 101%. Your money doubled in Tesla stock last year. The average stock in the S&P 500 didn't do a heck of a lot last year while these seven companies drove the markets. What's the problem there? A rally based on a narrow handful of companies all pretty much playing in the same industry is potentially fragile. So, to feel good about it, we want to see a broad rally where all of the stocks are up a little bit instead of a few stocks up in a huge way. It's just a little bit magnified right now. Anything that can go up 200% in a year can also go back down at a staggeringly fast pace. So when you think about something scary like that, it's good to think about balanced investments. If the soft landing scenario plays out, we don't have a serious recession, we have a slowdown. Another potential outcome of this is we see those seven stocks run in place for a little while, while the rest of the market perks up. And so we can get to the point where this is a healthy rally. This doesn't necessarily mean a bad outcome, it's just something to be concerned about as a potential problem. 2. We've seen a lot of geopolitical risk over the last 12 months.

Show notes and transcript: https://designbetterpodcast.com/p/ok-go Not many bands hire Russian pilots to film a Zero-G video on their cosmonaut training plane, known as the “vomit comet”. But those are the kinds of extremes that OK Go will go to in the pursuit of creativity. Tim Nordwind and Damien Kulash, the band's founders, met at camp as pre-teens in search of a fellow creative nerd, and founded the band in 1998. [libsyn_podcast id=28126607] PLEASE SUPPORT OUR SPONSORS YOU CAN WATCH ALL THE PODCAST EPISODES ON YOUTUBE - How to Keep Moving Forward Anna shares a wise reminder that applies to most things, including fitness and health: This Too Shall Pass. (2:00) Vinnie discusses a recent consult with “Judy” and what things were happening that have stalled her weight loss. (2:30) He doesn't like the word “plateau,” because your body is always doing something. What it does depends on whether you are doing negative or positive things. So you need to keep moving forward! Anna brings up Bulgarian Split Squats and they discuss how to improve them. (6:00) She also brings up other fitness challenges that are happening, especially during menopause. Vinnie still works out to failure and loves the calm feeling it brings. They chat about sleep, too; as a result, they talk about how magnesium helps. (12:30) Sugar Feeds Cancer Getting calories on people when they are dealing with cancer or similar things is difficult. (14:00) Often people just need to keep their weight on when their appetite is gone. Vinnie is dealing with 3-4 people right now who are fighting cancer; he shares his personal advice—but reminds us he is not a doctor. He describes his own experience during cancer regarding appetite and food. He recommends staying away from sugars because sugar and other carbs feed cancer. (19:30) However, if a person is struggling to eat during chemo, they need to keep weight on and they should eat what they can. Because at that point, their body needs something to have energy to fight. He also recommends desiccated liver capsules; but only the fatty kind. He makes other recommendations with protein, too. Anna reads a label sent in by listener Kristy Smith; the label is from Nestle Health Science. (23:30) As you can guess, it's pretty much an abomination. It's a mix of bad ingredients with added vitamins and amino acids; however, the added supplements are less than two percent of the ingredients! (27:00) Cancer grows out of damaged cells; when mitochondria get damaged, cancer grows from that. (28:00) After the ad for Villa Cappelli, the best olive oil on the planet, they switch to football talk. (40:50) This leads to a chat about the late Jimmy Buffett and his legacy on the planet. (43:00) Anna shares her two cover options for her upcoming Low-Carb Italian Cookbook. (44:30) Don't forget to check out Anna's , too! Plenty of people have heard (or caught themselves reciting) the little mantra "This too shall pass," and it's easy to think it's a quote from the Bible.  The truth is a bit more complicated than that, and while a well-known fable connects that slogan with King Solomon, it's not actually contained as a phrase in the Scriptures.  On the other hand, there is a chorus of voices in the Scriptures who would nod in agreement to the sentiment.  From the skeptical philosopher's voice in the book of Qoheleth (Ecclesiastes) reminding us that "all is vapor/breath," to the reminders of Jesus that our treasures and wealth in this life will not last, to the reminders of the New Testament about a hope beyond the passing sufferings of this life which will not win the day, we hear voices in the Scriptures that advise us both to savor the good in the present moment rather than taking it for granted, and to trust with perseverance that the pain of the present will not last forever.  Check out a new conversation with pastors Erica, Sarah, and Steve here on this week's episode of Crazy Faith Talk!

Recent tapes of Senator Lindsay Graham talking to New York Times reporter Jonathan Martin on the afternoon of Jan. 6th, 2021 have now been released. It reaffirms what many Republicans were thinking that day about the riot that Donald Trump had just unleashed upon the US Capitol. And expressed hope that the new Democratic President, Joe Biden, could lower the temperature and bring the country together. But as Martin and his Times colleague Alex Burns document in their new book, This Too Shall Pass, that sentiment amongst most GOP lawmakers, Graham prominent among them, didn't last long. And Graham's prognosis that the trauma of Jan. 6th would lead to great national unity couldn't have been more wrong.
