Hello Hot Dogs! I've waited for this day for over 14 years: mix #100 is live. When I released my first mix in 2010, I titled it [001] instead of [01]. Using three digits was aspirational, a quiet promise to myself that I might one day reach triple digits. These mixes trace the narrative of my adult life. They've been the thread connecting me with so many of you—some I'll never meet, others who've become close friends (and even roommates—hi Dan, hi James). Back when I released my first mix in 2010, we were still buying mix CDs for our cars. Soundcloud was just emerging, and I committed to monthly releases to this new platform. I may be overreaching here, but I can't remember any other DJs presenting conceptual mixes, monthly, as packaged works of art: a conceptual title, description, and artwork. That consistency and novelty helped build a following outside of my local scene, and when my 2012 Robot Heart recording came out, things really took off internationally. By 2015, the momentum led me to leave my software engineering job for full-time DJing—largely thanks to these Soundcloud mixes. I was purely a DJ then with a nascent Manjumasi label formed with Mark Slee, not releasing my first original track “Peculiar Colors” until 2017. The landscape in 2024 looks different. As Soundcloud rotted to hell and Spotify rose, the value of mixes has sharply declined. With thousands released daily, they've become ubiquitous. The career path for electronic artists now revolves around original productions and social media presence. This industry evolution pushed me toward producing my own music, opening up new creative paths I'm grateful for. The social media aspect has felt natural, as it's been an integral part of my project from the start. These last few years, the touring schedule, studio time, and home life as a husband and father slowed me down from my monthly cadence, but each mix still feels like a deep-rooted part of my message to the world, (mostly) through other people's music. Mix [100] was recorded September 7, 2024, at Public Works in San Francisco, the city that "raised me" as a club kid, where I first learned to DJ. This 5-hour set marked my last show in North America before taking an indefinite mental health break from touring. Playing this set was emotional, to the point of tears in the DJ booth, with support pouring in from both new listeners and those who've been there since the beginning. I couldn't think of a better way to reach 100. I've also created http://www.atish100.com to house all my mixes and their 1,400+ tracklists in one place, which I'll keep updating as new mixes go up on Soundcloud and YouTube. This mix marks a meaningful milestone for me. Thank you for making this journey possible. You, and the 1400+ artists and labels I referenced helped create a life I never imagined.

dattrax: HiYaAAA Fellow Underground House Heads!! Welcome to the place where House Music lives.Thank you for taking a listen to one of our mixes. We hope that you like it and if you do, then pls check out some of the others. Over 145 mixes from 45mins to over 4hrs for some. Sooooooooo many house tracks that are gems that you've NEVER heard before.House is so unique, if you haven't heard it, then it's 'new' to you. So many of the good tracks out there are timeless. It's so different than popular music that is time specific. How have you been? How is your main work? Profession? Business? Side hustle? How is your physical and mental health? How are your relationships? Are you pursuing your passions or curiosities? I wish all the best to you and what you choose to do with your life.I just live my life the best that I can have to deal with tons of challenges just like you, and let out any negativity and positivity into my mixes (so that I don't let it out on people), either LIVE in front of a dancing crowd or when crafting these specific mixes. It's therapy to let out all that's pent up. Hopefully, something beautiful comes out of that expression. Listening to, buying, mixing, dancing, and talking to people who love house music makes me happier.I make these mixes for myself and my best friend, Jimmy. Then if anyone else enjoys them, then that's an added bonus. Let us know if our mixes make you smile or have improved your day. House Music is the answer to many woes and blues. The official spring day was Mon, Mar 20, 2023, however, for Toronto, Ontario, Canada, it's just starting to be above zero degrees Celsius recently. So happy about the extra sunshine. It'll help everyone better their moods and power them with much-needed vitamin D.If you're ever visiting Toronto, then two things to keep in mind -ONE: there are freaking incredible restaurants of every cuisine on every corner that you can possibly imagine, so don't travel while holding any dieting resolutions &TWO: June to August is the best weather, around 20 - 28 degrees Celsius. There might have a bunch of days above 30 in August and a few below 20 in June. Any other time, it's shit. However, May and Sept are cool and sweet, but not vacationing weather. AVOID the harsh weather from mid-Nov till mid-Apr. LMAO. (This two-minute skit from comedian, Jim Carrey is funny about our weather).Recorded in Toronto, Ontario, Canada:Decided to make a mix at my pal Stephen's place, so just set up my DJ controller and laptop on his kitchen counter. Wanted to hang out in private with my friend and my doggie, Tommy, and let just loose, mix these new tracks, dance a little, and experience these new tracks LOUD on his fantastic speaker system.---------------Reach out to us and comment if you've enjoyed our mixes.Just Google 'dattrax' and find all places online that we've been a part of.Please share with your family, friends, co-workers, and acquaintances who could use a dose of musical candy.Isn't music such a great escape?---------------DJ Bookings for Canada, the US, or Global: dattrax@gmail.com---------------Any support would be appreciated if you'd like to donate or support our music addiction. Our premiere for today, the remix of the title track by Haider Uppal and Timo Chinala, brings dubby, ‘b-side' vibes to the release. Happy to share one of my most requested sets from my archive. This is back from 2018 on the Big Imagination 747 airplane at Burning Man. This was a set the ended up with quite a bit of drama, but overall it was a really special sunrise B2B with my brother-from-another-mother, Mark Slee. Always feels natural and easy playing with him. As a note, the public version on soundcloud is a snippet of the entire recording. If you'd like to hear the whole thing, it's available to my Patreon subscribers at https://www.patreon.com/atishmusic. Hope you enjoy! Big thanks to my Patreon supporters, VIP tier and above:

In this episode of Luminous Arts, I talk with Mark Slee, the creator of LX Studio, the software behind the Tree of Tenere. He's an accomplished producer and light artist who runs an art gallery out of San Francisco.  We're both quarantined in separate corners of the world due to the Coronavirus, with Mark in Montreal and me in the British Virgin Islands.  Fortunately, remote podcasting is a thing and our connection was solid, so hopefully, it'll sound pretty good.     We talk about the role of art in different parts of the world, how he became involved with Symmetry Labs, how he developed his software and other things.  I've been looking forward to talking with Mark for a long time as he's a prolific artist in the Bay Area community and light art scene.  He's a cool guy, and it's a great conversation.  I really think you'll dig it.   Originally Published - April 1, 2020 This episode of the Podcast is with Gabriel Dunne, an interactive multimedia artist and code wizard who's been a staple of the Bay Area new-media arts scene for more than a decade. He's one of the original members of the OOOShiny list, a gathering place and discussion forum for some of the most prolific new-media artists worldwide. This group is actually how I tapped into our community here in the Bay and it's one of my favorite resources to find people doing interesting things with technology. We have a really good conversation and dive deep into some of the social issues affecting the Bay Area arts community. We talk about how the scene has evolved and changed over the decade-plus he's been involved in creating art here and how his career as an artist has evolved. This is a great episode, one of my favorites thus far, and I really think you'll enjoy listening to it.   Links & Social Media Portfolio LX Studio Twitter Facebook Soundcloud

Release number fifteen on San Francisco's @Manjumasi revisits the Atish + Friends EP, with a diverse collection of remixes from a serious roster of producers. Leading the charge is Berlin's Andre Lodemann, who delivers an interpretation of Atish and Mark Slee's “Chameleon” in his classic style, combining intricate percussion and steadily building interwoven synth lines. With its deep pulsing bass texture, the result is a complex and heady track with a crescendo of energy. Next up is Nick Warren and Nicolas Rada, a powerhouse production duo whose version of “Chameleon” is a deep and chuggy journey through the track's landscapes, slightly slowed down to really let the textures shine. The third remix on the package sees Brooklyn-based Brian Cid return to the label with a deep and driving interpretation of Atish and Tim Engelhardt's “Bullfrog,” employing a hypnotic hang-drum riff to work in unison with the original's stabby synth lines. Closing out the package are two versions of Atish and Bengal's “Tortoise.” DoubtingThomas strips the lush track down to its bare elements, letting each element shine in a more minimal version well-suited for the quirky late-night dancefloors or the afterhours. Finally, label A&R rep Naveen G kicks up the energy and turns in a stormer, with hints of progressive energy, an insistent bassline and trippy psychedelic arpeggios. https://soundcloud.com/lodemann https://www.facebook.com/andrelodemann https://soundcloud.com/djnickwarren https://www.facebook.com/NickWarrenDJ https://soundcloud.com/nicolasrada https://www.facebook.com/djnicolasrada https://soundcloud.com/briancid https://www.facebook.com/briancidmusic https://soundcloud.com/doubtingthomas https://www.facebook.com/ARdoubtingthomas https://soundcloud.com/naveen-g https://www.facebook.com/djnaveeng https://soundcloud.com/atish https://www.facebook.com/atishmusic https://soundcloud.com/timengelhardt https://www.facebook.com/tim.engelhardt.artist https://soundcloud.com/mcslee https://www.facebook.com/marksleemusic https://soundcloud.com/bengalsf https://www.facebook.com/bengalsf

Pre-order NOW on Beatport: bit.ly/atishEP2 Lucky number thirteen on San Francisco's @Manjumasi comes from label co-founder Atish. Following hot on the heels of last year's solo debut "Peculiar Colors," Atish returns to the label in fine form with a trio of collaborations. Each named after an amphibian or reptilian creature, the three tracks showcase Atish's musical range. First up is Bullfrog, produced together with fast-rising German talent @timengelhardt. A chunky percussive bass groove drifts over liquid smooth lily-pads, laying a foundation for the quirky, croaking synth riff that makes the track's heady hook. Second on the package is Chameleon, a collaboration with label co-founder @mcslee. This one is a driving melodic groover that oscillates between musical colors, with a light floating pad melody and slip-sliding glissando synth playing counterpoint to edgy stabs. Rounding out the package is Tortoise, a team effort with SF talent @bengalsf. Like the animal, this tune is slow-moving and wise, demonstrating strength through patience in the form of a groove that gently meanders and builds with rich detail. - Connect with atish - @atish facebook.com/atishmusic instagram.com/atishmusic - Manjumasi - @Manjumasi facebook.com/manjumasimusic instagram.com/manjumasi

Episode 210: Noah Kagan - How To Start A Business Noah Kagan was the #30 employee at Facebook (started there in 2005), and the #4 employee at Mint.com.  He came up with the idea of real-time updates and executed with one engineer (Mark Slee) at Facebook.  He is now the Chief Sumo at Sumo.com (A domain in which he paid $1.5m to own.  We discussed why on this episode). This episode is different than most in that it was more conversational, and less interview.  There was real-time coaching, and off the cuff conversation about how I should progress The Learning Leader.  If you are uncomfortable with creative use of the English Language (re: use of curse words), then skip this episode.  If not, I think you'll really like it. Todays feature is the Sazerac, homegrown in New Orleans and one of America’s earliest cocktails. It’s also the favorite Whiskey Cocktail of Mark Slee, also American and based in the wonderful city of San Francisco. His interpretation of the Sazerac is deep, smooth, sweet but twisted and spicy at the same time. Mark lives in San Francisco and did what the majority of us dreams of: he quit his corporate life to focus on his passion, music. Definitely the right decision, as today Mark is label owner (Manjumasi Music, together with his best friend Atish), producer and a passionate DJ. Mark’s releases are published on imprimts such as LIsted, Citifox, Proton and many more. His sets have taken him far and wide, playing for audiences from Cape Town to Playa del Carmen, from Robot Heart to the Cityfox series in NYC. We feel honored to have him behind the Schirmchendrink bar where he goes the extra-mile for the next hour. Enjoy ! Cheers! Mark Slee > https://soundcloud.com/mcslee Airpusher collective> https://soundcloud.com/airpusher 8dayFb> www.facebook.com/8daymtl 8day Collective > @8day-montreal Hailing from San Francisco, Mark Slee is known to wear many creative hats. But two of his all-time favorite fashions are that of DJ and producer. Since co-founding House-Heads in 2008, a collective combining forward-thinking music with a quirky underground vibe, he has gone on to join the Listed Bookings roster and host the monthly mix show Heron Sound on Proton Radio. He is also one half of Manju Masi, a collaboration with long-time partner in crime Atish. Over the course of an obsession with dance music now more than 15 years strong, Slee has evolved a style of deep house that reflects a unique personality, balancing intricate grooves, dreamy textures, and playful whimsical bounce. Blending his technical side with intuition and introspection, he takes an approach that tickles both mind and soul. Slee's sets have taken him far and wide, playing for audiences from Cape Town to Playa del Carmen, from Robot Heart to the Cityfox series in NYC. On the home front, his penchant for diverse and well-crafted warmup sets sees him regularly playing SF's top clubs, opening for DJs like Danny Tenaglia, Danny Howells, Lee Burridge, Guy Gerber, Mathew Dekay, Vincenzo, Andre Lodemann, and Hector. Rounding things out are his original productions and remixes, released on Cityfox, Tenampa, 5 and Dime, and Looq. Noah is a UC Berkeley graduate with degrees in Business and Economics and began his career at Intel as a marketing analyst in 2004.   In late 2005, Kagan joined Facebook as employee #30, where he served as product manager for eight months. During his time, he is credited with pioneering the Facebook status update and its mobile application with Mark Slee. After leaving Facebook, he then became Mint software employee #4 as the director of marketing in December 2006. At Mint, Kagan developed the initial marketing strategy for the launch of the website which now has over 7 million users.   After Mint, in June 2007, Kagan founded his first major company, KickFlip, a payment company for social games. Kickflip was the #1 Facebook app company of its time and would eventually become Gambit, which served over 40 million users, had $18 million in revenue, and was the #2 payments company for Facebook games.   In March 2010 Kagan founded AppSumo, a daily deals website for digitally distributed goods. He started the company after seeing there were no product bundle or daily deal sites for the growing web applications category. The core vision was to help solve distribution for startups and eventually all digital goods. The website was originally created in one weekend using an outsourced team from Pakistan for $60. Kagan said he created the company after seeing opportunity to combine the popular daily deals model with the growing web applications field. Kagan described it as a solution for distribution problems faced by startups.   In contrast to deal sites such as (Groupon and LivingSocial), AppSumo deals exclusively with digitally distributed goods. Initially, the deals offered were for digital tools and software. The deals then transitioned primarily to learning based products, teaching customers skills such as programming languages, project management, and hiring practices.   Today, the website has over 700,000 active subscribers and is particularly popular among the startup community.   You can learn more about Noah at http://okdork.com/
