On this episode we hear from Khun Yuwadee. She wanted to be a medical student and after a work experience at a hospital she realised that it was the engaging with patients that she enjoyed more, than giving out the medicine. So, despite her parents' reservations, she switched to hospitality, and they respected her decision. She started her career in 2002 and since then Thailand has seen many turbulent years. She started her career at a time when OTAs were coming into the market, and she was eager to learn and be useful. So she took it upon herself to educate herself and become an expert, which allowed her career to grow from sales, e-commerce and revenue management. I love the way she describes the hotel industries adoption of technology: 'we are not behind, but we have time to adapt and learn'. After a prolonged maternity leave, she joined D-Edge solutions as country manager and works closely with local hoteliers to provide support on business performance.

Release Date Worldwide: 24/11/2022 Respect for essence and naturalness are fundamental aspects for the constant enhancement that Seed Selector has been achieving. Since 2019, the DJ and producer has been exploring more melodic and progressive House textures, adding references from Breakbeat, Funk and even Miami Bass. Thus, he generated a musical signature that not only honors his roots, but establishes them in the frenetic electronic music scene. Labels such as Cocada Music, Levels Rec, Namata, Subliminar and Warung Records are already on the producer's curriculum, as well as collaborations with Leo Janeiro and L_cio. On his return from activities, visits to clubs such as Beehive, Chaos, D-Edge and Warung Beach Club naturally took place, consecrating him as a new promise." soundcloud.com/seed_selector instagram.com/seedselector.wav linktr.ee/seedselector soundcloud.com/sabiarecords instagram.com/sabia.music www.beatport.com/label/sabia-records/79526

She recently performed at the Love Parade, renamed Rave the Planet, and the Tresor Festival in Berlin. Our next memory maker dreamed of being in hospitality, persuading her father to send her to hotel school. Christine Tan takes us on her journey from an Island in West Malaysia to Switzerland, London, Los Angeles and Singapore joining UTELL fresh out of college to coordinate the switch of hotels to GDS. Her souvenir is a press cutting from this time, and she reflects on how things have changed since 1989.Christine always knew travel was important to her “I wanted to climb the highest mountain and swim the deepest sea before having kids.” She recounts her 4,000 metre ascent of Mount Kinabalu, a brutal climb passing over rough terrain, tackling steep elevations with no conversation as air became thinner, eventually arriving at a breathtaking sunrise. “If you ask me to do it again, I'd take the helicopter”. From here she tells about an oceanic Island and her joy to swim with sharks in the Philippines as she witnessed the transformation of this small town.Christine shares her Fawlty Towers story about a guest suffering severe jet lag.Born in Malaysia Christine left home at 17 to study in Switzerland and London and ended up living all over Europe and the USA; eventually returning to Asia 20 years later. She juggles her career with motherhood, having had her daughter late in life. She is passionate about the arts, and the hospitality industry.A big foodie Christine will travel long distances to experience different cuisines. Her family loves the ocean and snow so they spend most of their vacations diving off remote islands or skiing in Japan and USA.Until recently, Christine served as Managing Director for Asia Pacific at D-EDGE. She has over 30 years of leadership experience including Trust International, ANA Hotels, Pegasus Solutions, and her own consulting company. Each episode we invite an industry professional to share 2 photographs and a treasured souvenir from their travels representing moments particularly important to them. Join us as we go on a journey through time to explore the significance of each.A Travel Market Life series, a Haynes MarComs production. Hosted and sponsored by Atomize.
I am neither afraid of showing my emotions nor including them in my music - StimmingFew people bring a truly original sound to house music. At a relatively young age, Hamburg's Martin Stimming did just that, demonstrating a sophisticated yet accessible sound that is beyond his years. Two years after hooking up with Solomuns Diynamic Music, his 2008 breakthrough hit Una Pena made the electronic world sit up and take notice, and before long acclaimed labels like Freerange, liebe*detail, Buzzin´ Fly, Green and Poker Flat were snapping up his work. 2009 saw him release his immaculate debut album Reflections to great acclaim, cementing his reputation as one of the most exciting new producers of his generation. His second album, Liquorice, eschews the normal kick-clap/snare template by and large to explore more interesting and progressive territories, but always with that trademark magpie-like sense of texture, emotion and discovery. His productions are filled with a multitude of his own unique, charismatic field recordings, and he never uses the same sample more than once.2010 saw him pick up an award for Best Newcomer at the Ibiza DJ Awards, following on from his live show (Stimming does not DJ) stunning the crowds at the islands legendary Pacha, and the finest danceries around the world from Berlins Panoramabar to Sao Paulo´s D-Edge, Brussels Fuse, London´s fabric and Paris Rex, and plenty more beyond.Remixes for the likes of Sascha Funke, Claude VonStroke, Deadmau5, Stephan Bodzin and Tom Novy to name but a few have further spread his influence amongst the discerning house and tech community, and cemented his reputation as one of the scene´s most exceptional producers.Clearly, Martin Stimming is a precious talent indeed. But then again, not everyone loves liquorice...
There is a quote made famous by Ruth Malan from Grady Booch: "Architecture represents the significant design decisions that shape a system." And shaping a system takes time, and seeing the impact of these significant design decisions can take years after the changes have been done. And most of us are usually not there to reak the benefit, or worse, feel its pain. So in collaboration with D-EDGE we will have a panel of people that did experience and will discuss how architecture decisions shaped the system years after the change.

His first contact with electronic music happened in the most famous playground in Brazil: Warung Beach Club. Then, the Radiola collective came as a natural evolution of the passion for music shared by the group of friends, and João is part of the label since the beginning. In those days, "Traffic Jam" happened for fun in the collective’s music studios headquarters, and João was known for playing unshakable long sets that marked legendary after hours. The name “Traffic Jam” fist came about in a partnership with another Radiola member: through the project, the two friends sought to create music so invigorating that it could turn even a traffic jam into a pleasant moment. As the years passed, João Pedro has maintained a solo project, and has been fulfilling his mission with an unparalleled ability to perceive sensations of the dancing crowd. This characteristic led him to be booked in the most incredible dancefloors in the country and in the world, such as Warung, Beehive, Club Vibe, D-EDGE, Levels, Colours and at the Amsterdam Dance Event. Today Traffic Jam is respected in the artistic scene for its skill, for its refined selection that surprises and intrigues, exploring all the times, the melodies and rhythms of house music in a bold and totally original mix. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

BLANCAh on: - Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/blancahmusic - SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/blancah HOW I MET THE BASS on: - Facebook: www.facebook.com/howimetthebass - Twitter: twitter.com/howimetthebass - Mixcloud: www.mixcloud.com/HowIMetTheBass BLANCAh says: "Well, I'd like to kick off by talking about this mix, a little bit. I loved this invitation and this freedom to show my references without the commitment of thinking about dance floors. Electronic music for me has always been something way beyond the dance floors. I entered this universe through Trip Hop and Ambient. In this sense, the sentimental aspect always attracted me much more than simply the excitement and frenzy of beats made for the dance floors. Overt the time, I understood that in our environment there are two types of professionals: Those who stand only as DJs, whose goal is simply to bring fun to people... and the Artists, those who create a speech and aim to pass a message through music, and often, do not feel obliged to please. I identify myself a lot more with the second ones, the artists. I began this mix with the excerpt from an interview by the artist Marina Abramović, where she advises young artists. I think her speech is fantastic and I think it expresses much of what I believe as an artist. I wanted to get this message in my mix. In this one hour I chose songs that touch me deeply in the soul and that influenced me in the construction of my musical identity. It is a very introspective and intimate hour.“ 3 QUESTIONS to BLANCAh: Q) What´s the secret about the small "h" in your name BLANCAh? A) Haha good question. When I started the process of creating my new musical and visual identity, I looked for a name that represented all of this. I had been painting my hair a few years and decided to discolor it completely. Then I became BLANCAh („white“ in spanish). So far so good. So I decided to do some basic research to find out if there was anyone with this name on our circuit yet, and I met other people with that name. Letter 'H' came to set me apart from these other people, so I decided to keep it in lower case, just to lessen it´s importance in the name, hahaha. But in the end it became one of the most interesting letters in my name and the way I play with the spelling between upper and lower case gave an extra weight. Q) Tell us about the music scene in Brazil as you´re resident in the famous club D-Edge. What´s the difference to the music scene in Europe? A) Well, there are many similarities and obviously, big differences between these two scenes. Musically speaking we are very close to each other. The scene in Brazil is rich, full of very interesting and competent artists. Brazilian public is very passionate and affectionate. The energy of a full dancefloor in Brazil has the power of an atomic bomb, in a good way. Here the audience is very loyal to a club and it´s favorite artists. During my trips I realized that both, in Europe and in Brazil, there is the struggle of small nuclei who struggle to create the scene in their cities, people who do it out of sheer passion, who fight for money and give blood to see it happen. These nuclei are essential for artists like us since they enrich and educate an audience in cowtrysides of where only the radio presents the "news", which in general are commercial shit. I feel that a more pronounced difference between Europe and Brazil is that here we still do not really know the real meaning of Underground. This is a difficult subject to address in a few lines but deserves debate. Q) Which BLANCAh releases are coming soon? A) I am now working on two Steyoyoke projects. One is called „Authentic“ where I present an original song and I still select 9 songs from the label to compose a compilation. I'm working on a remix for our „Coupple Affair“ project. I'm also working on my next EP. And also traveling a lot to play and take my art further in this world.

There's a funny story behind this mix; half was recorded at the Freak Chic party in D Edge Sao Paulo and the other in studio. 30 mins into my set a blackout occurred in the club due to a thunder storm. D Edge had to close and I wasn't able to finish my set. This was the first time this ever happened to me. Here's what the first hour would have sounded like.
My Ain't No Big Thing radio show (http://djshmeejay.com/aint-no-big-thing-radio-show/), broadcast on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of every month from 9pm - 11pm (GMT) / 4pm - 6pm (EST) / 1pm - 3pm (PST) at http://boxfrequency.fm. This episode I host Brazilian dj Fiervo. https://soundcloud.com/fiervo "You may find dj Fiervo, aka Fernando Iervolino, spinning some disco and house records at undergrounds clubs in Sao Paulo, Brazil, like legendary D-Edge or at big festivals like Creamfields and Rock In Rio. But maybe Fiervo's favorite dancefloor is a beach. His love for balearic music comes from a long time, since his trips around Brazil's coast, full of good music and abundant sun. This passion for laid back vibes resulted on a project called Sunny Disco, a series of occasional day parties and special mixes. This recording for Ain't No Big Thing is a small sample of what Fiervo usually plays. Expect a mix of classic tunes, new stuff and edits, all packed in shapes of disco, downtempo, balearic, house and Brazilian pearls… Underwater synths, slow beats, sun kissed sax, lazy pianos, trippy pads, a lot of melody. Now go grab your favorite colorful drink and get a tan!" You can find more of Fiervo here: https://twitter.com/fiervo http://mixcloud.com/fiervo/ http://fiervo.com/ Next broadcast will be on October 4, 2014 and will feature another awesome guest. Germany’s Frank Heinrich aka Reboot is known to lay down tracks that are so visceral they’re positively orgasmic. His approach to performance and production is based around what he calls ‘complex polyrhythmic architecture’ – not forgetting a musical heritage that spans house, techno, world music and jazz. With proven releases on such labels as Below, Cadenza and Cocoon, an explosive live show and a DJ career that’s more versatile than many imagine, Reboot has earned every inch of his reputation as a speaker-freaker. In fact, he now spearheads what others are calling the new sound of Frankfurt, alongside friends like Chris Tietjen, Robert Dietz and Markus Fix. Aachen-born Frank moved to the Frankfurt-Offenbach area when he was just six years old. Here, he received a classical music education and picked up a range of instruments. These ranged from the melodica and accordion to organs and keyboards. However, a lifelong love affair with electronic music commenced and flourished after he first made contact through radio. Aged 13, he began DJing and by 14 he was producing his own tracks using kit that he’d bought with pocket money. Officially, he was too young to go clubbing but that didn’t stop him. After all, it was the early-90s and the techno radiating from this region was more than the talk of the town. Later, a friend smuggled him into Sven Väth’s seminal Omen club and boom – his electronic ambition was cemented. He also, as they say, ‘forgot to go home’… In 1992 Frank and Marco Delle Donne formed Delle & Heinrich: a longstanding production and performance partnership that was never about going pro but more about having fun. Together they explored the scene and had a couple of releases (on Combi Int. and i220) before finally parting in 2006. During this period Frank also continued to work solo, experimenting with warmer sounds outside the increasingly tough techno of the clubs. To this end, he would also play in lounges and bars, mixing all kinds of music, whether he was simply DJing or jamming live, fusing his knowledge into a compelling show that went way beyond a laptop/midi controller. Naturally, such intrinsic ‘world’ flavours as African and Latin rhythms continue to infuse his sound to this day. Seemingly hard-wired for success from the get-go, Frank’s Reboot moniker came to life in 2005. This was the perfect platform for his DJing, evolving live shows and productions that he wrote, engineered – the whole shebang – using traditional analogue machines as well as a laptop. In 2007, the hypnotic, melodic ‘Charlotte’, his first production as Reboot, was released by his friends at Below. It shone a light on his skills and saw his profile soar like never before. He then realised another ambition when he made his debut on Cadenza with ‘Be Tougher’, a much darker offspring that Luciano adopted on his Fabric 41 mix. Another massive hit for Reboot was the mind-warp of ‘Vandong’, which blew up as part of his Sidekick EP. All the time, Frank carried on pushing the possibilities of DJing and live performance as Reboot. And thus his barrage of booty-shaking beats spread rapidly around the globe, from Robert-Johnson and Cocoon Club in Germany, to Womb in Japan, D-Edge in Brazil and Fabric in the UK. Using mostly his own material, he also locked a groove on Cocoon’s 2008 Disco Invaders mix compilation, alongside compadres Johnny D and Chris Tietjen. Frank continues his sensory assault into 2009 with an abundance of productions and live/DJ sets. He has furthermore joined Luciano’s dynamic Æther project, which is like a Cadenza live electronic band, complete with visuals. So enjoy the ride, because the Reboot recipe for a good time is (and always has been) about melding the cerebral with the visceral to detonate our gut reactions to dance, to connect and to get in-sync.

- Gustavo "Mini" Bittencourt, Walverdes.
