The first Sound Of Renaissance of 2025 starts the year hot! Featuring two tracks from Pole Position's upcoming, highly anticipated 'A Great Light EP', the mix also spotlights a gem from up and coming producer Konstantin Kobra and, of course, a current favourite 'Full Moon In Amazon' by Drumstone & Orkun Bozdemir, which has been wowing the New Year season in South and Central America and beyond. Noteable support comes from Klur, Eden Burns, Record, Luttrell and Musumeci & Dodi Palese. TSOR 51 really does set the tone for the year ahead!1. Pole Position - Every Single Way 00:00:002. We're back with another stellar euro platformer, this time in the form of Wolfchild, developed by Core Design. Your father Kal Morrow, expert in genetic research and creation of human-animal hybrids, has been kidnapped and the rest of your family was brutally murdered by the terrorist organization CHIMERA. You take control of his surviving son Saul to exact revenge against CHIMERA and their leader Karl Draxx. Core Design is best known for their work on the first few Tomb Raider games, as well as other games like Rick Dangerous, Jaguar XJ220 and the Fighting Force series. Simon Phipps, one of the early members of core and a lead graphic designer on Wolfchild published a great article on his website which is where we gathered a lot of the information for this episode. He talks about the origin of the game, the inspiration for its design (Strider, Island of Dr. Moreau, etc) and some notes about animation and the various releases. Music this time around is handled by Martin Iveson on the original Amiga, Atari ST and later reimagined Mega CD version, with the Genesis, Game Gear and Master System covered by Pixelated Audio veteran Matt Furniss, and down porting duties from the Mega CD to SNES by Steve Collett. There's more good music than you can shake a stick at across the 7 different platforms and we hope you enjoy it! It's almost time again for our end-of-year “Best of Season 2” (C2R2), on Channel 2, where Hugues and I will pick a combined 22 tracks from the 72 total which we featured across all of Season 2 in calendar 2022. Like last year, we'll each pick 2 tracks per episode (one per episode per host from each of the two hosts), as well as each picking one wildcard track to serve as our episode opener and closer tracks. To build a little excitement for that episode, as well as to give you a handy refresher of everything we did this year, we have put together a music-only recap of the entire season's output (links will be included to each of the “full episodes” with Hugues and I's dialog included). Of the 72, we already know which 22 we're going to feature as “Best of”s, but as there'll be no spoilers on it, you'll have to just guess and wait and see and hope your personal favorites make our cut! ;-) You can also email us at nerd.noise.radio@gmail.com, or reach out to us on social media telling us what your top 11 would be (one track per host per episode, plus one wildcard), and if we get some submissions before recording time, we can mention them in the episode (or if we get enough of them, perhaps we can even make an Archive SUPER BONUS release out of them). We keep the Meet recording in case there is an emergency with the Audacity recording, but otherwise don't use it in the final episode, and I just align and combine our high quality Audacity recordings. On this episode, however, (a first for Ch 2) we lost a portion of Hugues' Audacity recording, so we did have to use our fallback a little bit. At the very bottom of the show notes, I'll include a LONG[ISH] VERSION which explains more. I did everything I could to minimize the impact of the Google Meet recording in the final episode. But it is noticeable at points. You can find Brian and Kristen Peterson's GoFundMe here: https://gofund.me/1ef0f855. Then join us again in August on Ch 2 for C2E9: “Just Deserts”. And wherever you are….Fly the N! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE ON BACKUP [bad] AUDIO - LONG VERSION: When Hugues and I record, we record over Google Meet. But we also each have separate recordings going simultaneously in Audacity to capture just our side of the conversation in higher quality. He uses the same mic for both recordings, a Blue Snowball USB Condenser mic, plus, he is the one hosting the Google Meet session, so the sound quality difference between his Meet recording and Audacity recording is very negligible (though Audacity is still a little bit better). My side of the conversation, though, is where the difference becomes significant. To record my high quality audio in Audacity, I use a RØDE Podmic XLR dynamic mic through a Cloudlifter into a Focusrite 4i4, and then into the computer. Given the flexibility of Linux audio routing (Hugues and I both use Linux, actually), I -CAN- pull double duty with the Podmic as well, and use it for both the Audacity and Google Meet recordings like Hugues does. But I've found that doing so tends to degrade the audio quality of the Audacity recording. And so, I prefer to keep the Podmic and Focusrite discrete for Audacity to keep it as pristine as possible, and then use one my lower-quality mics for the Google Meet. In the case of today's episode, I just used the sludgy, boomy, poorly defined mic that's built right into my very run of the mill webcam. I mean, because hey, it's not gonna matter, right? Nobody's gonna hear the Google Meet audio anyway...right? Well, that presumes that everything goes fine on both of our individual Audacity recordings. And for this episode (a first in the history of Ch 2), we had a couple segments, one really short and insignificant, and one much more significant, where Hugues' side of the Audacity cut out. It just briefly quit recording. So, we had to fallback to the Google Meets recording for those segments. I was able to minimize the impact of those segments by replacing as much of the Google Meets audio for my side of the recording as possible with my Audacity audio, but what I couldn't do was remove the moments where I would "Mhm" etc while Hugues was talking, since to do so would also remove what he was saying. So, I had to leave those in - and that can be pretty jarring. Also, during the portions of these periods where I'm talking, I had to remove all the "Mhms" etc from Hugues because I couldn't include them without including my bad audio in the mix too. Though you don't end up hearing a whole lot of me on the bad audio, the sudden transitions from the boomy, murky "mhms" to the clean, defined high quality audio is pretty jarring - plus, Hugues sounds completely disengaged when I'm talking in those moments when he really wasn't. But it was the best we could do with what we had. So, we made do, and I think it ultimately turned out pretty alright. But I did at least want to acknowledge the issue and confirm I was very much aware of it. By the time I got to the bloopers, I was a little burned out from the granularity of splicing good audio over bad audio and cutting the bad audio back out, and so, I figured that for the bloopers it wouldn't matter, and just left some of the Meet clips alone. I suppose this has the accidental benefit of letting you hear what the Meet recording sounded like. :-)

Today's Broadcast is C1E60, for Theme Thursday, December 23rd, 2021 - our final episode of our very non-standard two-year long “Season 4”. So it is fitting that we'd end such a wildly non-standard season - filled with primarily wildly non-standard content already - with such a dramatically non-standard Channel 1 episode. Today's episode abandons the customary Channel 1 “great big music block” mixtape format for a modified take on the original W.A.R.T. Radio format, featuring Trey Johnson of Nintendomain / W.A.R.T. Radio and St. John. Today's episode is also a “Lost Level”, as it was originally intended to be a Channel F bonus “F-isode” to supplement “C1E40 - Listener Picks - vol. 1” from December 2018, and was intended to release right after it, in a nearly identical presentation to what you receive today. As such, today's broadcast shall be “Listener Picks - vol. 2”. All music, other than the background music for the speaking portions was curated by listeners of the show, and are the roughly 60 remaining unused tracks from the pool of roughly 100 that were offered up for C1E40 in 2018, of which only 40 were used. p.s. We apologize for the uncharacteristically poor audio quality on St. John's speaking voice. Details available upon request, but the short version is that John had technical difficulties on his end of the recording with "the good mic", but fortunately, we had a lower-quality backup recording on Trey's end over Zoom using St. John's built-in laptop mic. The sound quality is diminished, but the content is still preserved. Today's Rerun is C1E35: "The Floppy Show", originally released Sept 20th, 2018, it was our focus on music from games from Computer systems (as opposed to conventional game consoles). The episode was named after a local Des Moines-area kid's show from the 1950s-1980s, and features clips of the show in both the intro and the outro (as well as a little Kraftwerk and Sonic CD). Please note that due to the attached ear catcher at the beginning regarding Best of 2019, the time stamps in the track list will be off by a minute, minute and a half. Up against a deadline to put this down for a couple months, I did not have time to update the time stamps accordingly. They're still reasonably close, I suppose. :-) Cheers! If you wish to subscribe to the "Noise from the Hearts of Nerds" podcast - audio-only, there are two options: Option 1: Subscribe right here to the "Nerd Noise Radio Network - All Channels" podcast feed. Feed will include Channels 1, 2, 3, and any future channels not yet planned. Feed will also include podcasts in high quality, stereo where applicable, and episodes will never expire off the feed. Therefore it is STRONGLY recommended that you subscribe to this Nerd Noise Radio feed and bypass all others. This one will contain all their content anyway. Option 2: If you're ONLY interested in Channel 1 ("Noise from the Hearts of Nerds") episodes, and not in any of the other content that is or will be offered by Nerd Noise Radio, there is a Channel 1-specific feed. But it's hosted on a free account, rather than an upgraded account like the "All Channels Feed" with lower quality sound (mono, I believe), a maximum 2hrs per month of content (so if the month's episodes run longer than that, they may need to be trimmed), and episodes expire off the feed forever after 90 days. It is STRONGLY recommended for most listeners to subscribe to the All-Channels feed instead. However, if you really are only interested in Channel 1 content, here's the RSS: http://www.buzzsprout.com/77944.rss Our episodes will also appear on our Nerd Noise Radio YouTube Channel - just search for Nerd Noise Radio, you'll find us! Here's today's episode: https://youtu.be/3ZvCbBDCa-A Additionally, there are YouTube Playlists you can follow, both an "All Channels" Feed (recommended), as well as channel-specific feeds. You can find them here: Nerd Noise Radio Network - All Channels Podcast Feed Nerd Noise Radio - Channel 1 podcast Nerd Noise Radio is now available on Twitch as well! Episodes 21 and forward will be uploaded as they're released, with the backlog of earlier episodes to follow. WARNING: This submission is SUPER-DUPER LONG – like “Insane in the Membrane” long!!! Like, take a week to make the track list long!!! It’s the musical version of a “tl;dr”. And now for a non-musical version of one, here’s the explanation (with track list to follow): If you’re new to Nerd Noise Radio, and feel this is oppressively long, fear not (and certainly unsubscribe not)! This is not at all indicative of a standard episode! Typically, episodes generally find themselves in the half hour to an hour and a half range. This is a once-a-year super-duper track-fest that is as long as it is because I couldn’t be more committal! I created a list of all “candidate” tracks from 2017 that I would consider for a favorites episode….and ended up with a whopping 122 tracks! For perspective, an ordinary episode of NNR is anywhere from 20-35 tracks. So, I started pruning back the list with the goal of hitting 40 tracks, mayyyybe 60 at the extreme. I started by cutting the tracks on my list that were already featured via listener picks on C1E25: The Best of 2017 since you, the listener just heard them a few days ago. I did include a list at the very bottom of these notes featuring the tracks that were in C1E25, and were therefore cut from my list so you can know which tracks they were. I gradually whittled my list down to 70 tracks, but couldn’t think of any more to cut. And besides, with so many tracks that I would’ve wanted featured absent already, and so many “me tracks” already featured on C1E25, I felt like I was beginning to approach the precipice of this not being worth doing anymore if I cut too many more out. It wouldn’t be representative enough, especially when there was already a good representation of “my tracks” selected by the listeners in the proper Channel 1 episode….. …..and thus….. ……..a 70 track, 3hr and 23 minute long music block JUGGERNAUT!!!! Actually, 71 tracks! I realized belatedly that in my quest to trim it back, I trimmed out all the NES tracks….and we just couldn’t have a Best of 2017 episode without AT LEAST ONE NES TRACK, am I right? There were already a pair of FDS tracks which, to be fair, is just an NES and then some, but it’s still not quite the same, don’t you agree? So, our opening track was a last second addition to make sure we got some real deal NES glory in this monster. I hope you’ll feel it fits. This is already long enough that I can’t feature it on the dedicated Channel F feed, so it will only be appearing on the All Channels Feed, on YouTube, Twitch, Archive, and Blogspot. Also, due to the extreme length, the customary intro and outro of a typical Channel 1 episode were cut, meaning that this episode is pretty much JUST the music block! If you’re catching this via the “video-ified” version on YouTube or Twitch, I will still include pop-ups for each track. But if you’re listening to an audio-only version, like podbean (the All Channels Feed), or Archive, then the ONLY place where you will find track info is in the show notes! So, they are more important than ever! In the case of YouTube, which has a character limit for descriptions, I fear that I may run afoul of that, and may need to move the tracklist to the comments section instead. So just keep an eye out for that. If you don’t see a track listing in the description, then you know where to look next. :-) All that said, I actually am really proud of this track list – particularly the track ordering. We start out with a fun, happy block, followed by dark, then intense, then weird, and then…..well, you’ll just have to tune in to follow the carefully curated ebb and flow and weave of this winding, twisting musical journey. I will say that other than our very last track, which has a PERFECT “goodbye” feel, we wrap things up with a jazz block. So, it’s truly an “all over the world” musical experience! And how we get from happy, to dark, to intense, to weird….and then to jazz is a question you’ll have to find out for yourself by listening. If you can survive the 3 ½ hour non-stop trip, I promise you that it is the biggest, boldest, broadest, richest, most ambitious journey I’ve taken you on as a podcaster! Lastly, I made sure to get at least one track from every episode in here. Had I been going by pure preference, the track list may have looked a tiny bit different (though not much), but having as my secondary goal to get every episode involved, I made the list the way I did, picking my favorite track(s) from the episode not already featured on C1E25. In the case of C1E7 (the Sword of Vermilion soundtrack), my favorite track, Statts, was already taken, and it became a multi-way-tie for second favorite, so I just chose a track that I thought would go well in the mix. I chose Dungeon 2. Anyway, I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed making it! 2017 was a great year for the program, and I’m convinced you’ll find 2018 even better…..I know I do ---- which means this task for me will be even harder next time! Get ready for 90 tracks next time…..maybe 91! ;-) Cheers! -John (Nerd Noise Radio) Track Number – Track Name – Game – System – Composer – Episode Originally Appearing on – Time Stamp (unless obviously otherwise) :-) 01: Intro – 00:00:00 02: Title Theme – Solstice – NES – Tim Follin – Ep 16: 00:00:15 03: Lovely City - Lovely Planet - Multiplatform - Calum Bowen - Ep 4 – 00:03:09 04: Nice Day - Spindizzy II - X68k - Toshiya Yamanaka - Ep 2 – 00:05:44 05: Chilled Reflection (Feat Rudy Escobar) - DYA – Neon Dreams (Album) - Ep 14 – 00:09:15 06: July 2014 - eShop Music - WiiU/3DS - Kazumi Totaka - Ep 6 – 00:11:35 07: Stage 1 - ChipChan-Kick - PCFX - Yoshio Furakawa, Masahara Iwata, and Hitoshi Sakamoto - Ep 4 – 00:14:28 08: Fun with Laser Guns - FearOfDark - FDS – BotB Winter Chip 8 – Ep 8 – 00:17:40 09: Metro City Subway - Final Fight CD – Sega CD - c: Harumi Fujita, Hiromitsu Takaoka, Junko Tamiya, Manami Matsumae, Yasuaki Fujita, Yoko Shimomura and/or Yoshihiro Sakaguchi / a: T's Music - Ep 15 – 00:21:11 10: High Sky - El Viento – Genesis - Motoi Sakuraba - Ep 16 – 00:23:15 11: Snow Land - Wiz 'n' Liz - Genesis – Matt Furniss – Ep 12 – 00:25:37 12: Tachy Touch - Knuckles Chaotix - 32X - Junko Shiratsu, Mariko Nanba - Ep 2 – 00:27:53 13: Ethnic Cave and Flame - X-Men - Arcade - The Konami Kukeiha Club – Ep 10 – 00:28:54 14: The Vile Peaks - Final Fantasy XIII - PS3 - Masashi Hamauzu – Ep 10 – 00:31:24 15: Twilight Palace (Outside) - LoZ: Twilight Princess - GC/Wii - Toru Minegishi, Asuka Ota - Ep 4 – 00:34:10 16: Options - Bram Stoker’s Dracula - Genesis - Matt Furniss - Ep 2 & 17 – 00:37:18 17: Intro - Sabre Team - Amiga - Matt Furniss - Ep 12 – 00:38:46 18: Cycle 1 - Streets of Rage 3 - Genesis - Motohiro Kawashima w Yuzo Koshiro) - Ep 2 – 00:41:38 19: Bonus 1 - Second Samurai - Mega Drive – Matt Furniss - Ep 12 – 00:44:51 20: Mission One - T2: The Arcade Game - Genesis – Matt Furniss – Ep 12 – 00:46:19 21: Traveller's Tales - Knight Arms - X68k - Toshiya Yamanaka - Ep 2 – 00:48:30 22: Yug's Stage - Cosmic Carnage – 32X – Hikoshi Hashimoto – Ep 13 – 00:51:05 23: Stage 5-2 – Bram Stoker's Dracula – Genesis – Matt Furniss – Ep 17 – 00:53:01 24: Stage 4-3 - Bram Stoker's Dracula - Genesis – Matt Furniss – Eps 12 & 17 – 00:55:30 25: 4th Cause - Psychosis - TG16 - Atsuhiro Motoyama – Ep 4 – 00:58:17 26: Naja's Stage - Cosmic Carnage – 32X – Hikoshi Hashimoto – Ep 13 – 01:02:47 27: Gong Shun Sheng - Outlaws of the Lost Dynasty (Dark Legend) - Multi - Seiichi Hamada – Ep 4 – 01:04:56 28: Dungeon 2 – Sword of Vermilion – Genesis - Hiroshi Kawaguchi and Yasuhiro Takagi - Ep 7 – 01:07:34 29: Swamp - Samurai Ghost - TG16 - Gappy, Miyoshi Okuyama, and/or Hiroyon – Ep 20 – 01:09:47 30: Passage - Destiny - PS4/XB1 - C. Check him out on Mixer at Phoxmonkey, where he does longplays and does custom artwork. The Diad contributes some tracks. Check out Radoslav's amazing artwork at radomitrov.wixsite.com And rounding out the power five, an 11th hour power bomb of noise from Elliot Savva out of the UK took what would've already been an excellent episode, and made it extraordinary! A hearty thanks to you all! Here's today's episode: [LINK] Additionally, there are YouTube Playlists you can follow, both an "All Channels" Feed (recommended), as well as channel-specific feeds. You can find them here: Nerd Noise Radio Network - All Channels Podcast Feed Nerd Noise Radio - Channel 1 podcast You can also find us on The Retro Junkies Network: www.retrojunkies.com You can find us (and all of our episodes) as "Nerd Noise Radio" on Archive.org and can also find us and join the conversation on both our Nerd Noise Radio Network Facebook, Google+, and Twitter pages, as well as our Facebook and Google+ "Nerd Noise Radio - Easy Mode" and "Nerd Noise Radio - Expert Mode" groups. https://archive.org/details/@nerd_noise_radio https://twitter.com/NerdNoiseRadio https://www.facebook.com/NerdNoiseRadioNetwork/ https://www.facebook.com/groups/276843385859797/ https://www.facebook.com/groups/381475162016534/ https://plus.google.com/u/0/116712079232328588606 https://plus.google.com/u/0/b/115513825710696980758/116712079232328588606?pageId=115513825710696980758 Lastly, we share our episodes as well on our blog at nerdnoiseradio.blogspot.com. Back in November on Channel 1, we had our first FaceOff Friday episode, and with it, our first Nerd Noise Radio contest! The third person to e-mail nerdnoiseradio@gmail.com would get to have their picks featured in a bonus episode here on Channel F, and if they so chose, even guest host the intro and/or outro of the episode. If the winner would turn out to have a podcast or other project of their own they'd get the opportunity to promote it. It turns out that winner was Trey Johnson, one of the hosts of the Nintendomain Podcast, as well as being the host of W.A.R.T. Radio, and one of the hosts of The Honey Darling Show. In order to maintain the elements of surprise, I will not say which parts (if any), Trey chose to guest host, and which parts (if any) I hosted as usual. Also, to maintain the element of surprise, the track list below DOES NOT indicate which versions of the tracks Trey selected. In the video version of this episode, the track versions are revealed in the pop-up at the beginning of each track, as well as in the track list in the outro. In the audio version, only in the track list in the outro. Of course, the astute listener will not require either aid to be able to determine which version they are hearing. This is John’s picks from Nerd Noise Radio - Channel 1’s C1E18: Face-Off Friday - vol. 1 (Nov. 2017). I’ve hidden the version details in this track list so as not to “blow the punchline”. However, track list provided at the end of the episode does list the version info. Also, in the case of the YouTube video version, there’s a pop-up for each track, and those provide version info as well. Also, I had one tie, where both (or all) of the versions included in the original episode are still included here. Though not stated explicitly in this track list, the very astute observer will likely be able to glean where that tie is. Please don’t blow it for everyone. ;-) Track Number / Game Name / Track Name / Composers / Versions List (Obscured) / Timestamp 01: Intro - 00:00 02: Spiderman vs the Sinister Six - Game Theme 1 - David Whittaker - 03:10 03: Jackie Chan’s Action Kung Fu - Stage 3 - Masakatsu Maekawa - 06:27 04: Genocide 2 - Refreshing Breeze - Hideyuki Shimono and/or Naoyuki Kimora - 08:16 05: LoZ (Either BotW or OoT) - Zora’s Domain (c. Content will come out as it’s available, rather than on a regular, or semi-regular schedule as is the case with Channel 1. In some cases, this will mean a bunch of content coming out rapid-fire. In other cases, there may be months in-between new content. Please do not unsubscribe during those drought periods. Also, a reminder: there is a contest! Third person to e-mail me at nerdnoiseradio@gmail.com will get to curate their own list of picks from Face-Off Friday - vol. 1, and I will produce and release it on Channel F in late January. Lastly, since this was produced on 12/28/17, it is the one-year anniversary of the passing of my dear friend, Chris Chandler, and thus, this production is dedicated to his memory. To hear a fuller tribute to him, see Nerd Noise Radio - Channel 1 - C1E10: “Mishmash Monday - vol. 1”. Until next time! Fly the N!!! Cheers!

Feed will include Channels 1, 2, 3, and any future channels not yet planned. Feed will also include podcasts in high quality, stereo where applicable, and episodes will never expire off the feed. Option 2: If you're ONLY interested in Channel 1 episodes, and not in any of the other channels, there is a Channel 1-specific feed.
