It's our Emerald F.U.C.K.S episode, as today we celebrate (with no actual celebration) our 20th edition! In this episode we go over our recent activities (possible collabs, Blaze ate some "fun fungus" and Henno drank several free beers at a beer launch), we discuss Robert Downey Jr's casting as Doom a bit more, we discuss Jonathon Majors and his firing from the MCU, we return to Deadpool and Wolverine, Scarlett Johanssen's beef with Disney, but also where does the MCU go from here, Disney's D23 launch and some possible issues, is Rings of Power a bit "meh", a comprehensive fan-cast of the Harry Potter series, and a little bit of Pokemon talk. Born in Newark, NJ in September of 1940, Brian DePalma went from physics student to student filmmaker in the heady height of the hippie era, with his early experimental films introducing none other than the much feted Robert DeNiro to the world at large. Following a surprising run of perversely Hitchcockian works like Sisters, Obsession, Dressed to Kill, Blow Out and Body Double (and a few strangely beloved cult oddities like Carrie and Phantom of the Paradise,) DePalma made a hard right turn into populist crime films like Scarface and Carlito's Way, the first Tom Cruise Mission Impossible film and Disney CG fest Mission to Mars before descending into a ghetto of direct to video style "erotic thrillers" oddly peopled by the likes of Rebecca Romijin-Stamos, Antonio Banderas and Scarlett Johanssen. So join us as we attempt to dig into the notable highs (and precipitous lows) of Brian DePalma, only here on Weird Scenes! Week 101 (7/13/23): The Modern Day Hitchcock or Hapless Hollywood Hack? The SLC Performance Lab is produced by ContemporaryPerformance.com and the Sarah Lawrence College MFA Theatre Program. During the course, visiting artists to the MFA Theatre Program's Performance Lab are interviewed after leading a workshop with the students. Performance Lab is one of the core components of the program where graduate students work with guest artists and develop group-generated performance experiments. David Neumann and Marcella Murray are interviewed by Chisom Awachie (SLC 23) Marcella Murray is a New York-based theatre artist from Augusta, Georgia, Murray is a playwright, performer, collaborator, and puppeteer. Her work is heavily inspired by the observed ways in which people tend to segregate and reconnect. Her work tends to focus on themes of identity within a community and (hopefully) forward momentum in the face of trauma. Performances include The Slow Room, a piece directed by Annie Dorsen at Performance Space New York; a workshop of Ocean Filibuster, which was co-created by the team Pearl D'Amour (Lisa D'Amour and Katie Pearl) with composer Sxip Shirey at Abrons Arts Center; the work-in-progress, I Don't Want to Interrupt You Guys, created in collaboration with Leonie Bell and Hyung Seok Jeon during RAP at Mabou Mines; New Mony, created by Maria Camia at Dixon Place; and Shoot Don't Talk at St. Ann's Warehouse/Puppet Lab, created by Andrew Murdock. Along with David Neumann, Murray recently co-created Distances Smaller Than This Are Not Confirmed (Obie Special Citation for Creation and Performance), which opened at Abrons Arts Center in January 2020. Murray is part of an artist collective called The Midwives. As artistic director of Advanced Beginner Group, Neumann's original work has been presented in New York at PS 122, New York Live Arts, The Kitchen, Central Park Summerstage (in collaboration with John Giorno), Symphony Space (in collaboration with Laurie Anderson), Abrons Arts Center, The Chocolate Factory, and The Whitney. Advanced Beginner Group has also performed at the Walker Art Center, Jacob's Pillow, MASS MoCA, American Dance Institute, and Carolina Performing Arts, among others. Neumann has been a featured dancer in the works of Adrienne Truscott, Susan Marshall, Jane Comfort, Big Dance Theater, Doug Varone, Doug Elkins Dance Company, and in two duets with Mikhail Baryshnikov. His choreography in the theatre includes The Antipodes at Signature Theatre, Futurity with Soho Rep and Ars Nova, An Octoroon at Soho Rep, Underground Railroad Game at Ars Nova, and directing Geoff Sobelle in The Object Lesson at BAM Fischer and New York Theatre Workshop. Neumann was choreographer on Hagoromo with Wendy Whelan and Jock Soto, Home at BAM Harvey, and Sibyl Kempson's Let Us Now Praise Susan Sontag at Abrons Arts Center. His film work includes collaborations with Hal Hartley, I Am Legend with Will Smith, Marriage Story with Adam Driver and Scarlett Johanssen, and White Noise directed by Noah Baumbach. Neumann is the recipient of three New York Dance and Performance “Bessie” Awards (including Best Production in 2015 for I Understand Everything Better). The third installment of the Distances... trilogy, in collaboration with theatre artists Marcella Murray and Tei Blow, will be presented in New York in 2024. Neumann has also been nominated for Tony, Drama Desk, and Outer Circle Critics awards for his choreography on Hadestown. He is also the recipient of a 2019 Chita Rivera Award for Outstanding Choreography of a Broadway Musical for Hadestown. Most recently, Neumann was choreographer on Swept Away, with music by the Avett Brothers at Berkeley Rep. Photo: Maria Baranova

https://youtu.be/TD41E8bvy3Q*******Brands That Have Done Customers WrongPart 1: https://youtu.be/LKeRURZPfikKRAVE BEAUTY-They were among the last to independently test their sunscreen for proof of efficacy. Unfortunately, their sunscreen (along with Purito, Klairs, Keep Cool, and many more) did not live up to the claims they made. On top of that, they refused to tell people what the results were, but still said “go ahead and use it, we still do.” Customers have a RIGHT to know what the tests came back as.Additionally, Krave's founder has seen her share of scandals relating to her personal life. Apparently she was a member of a church that has made some rather bigoted statements towards certain groups of people. More info on that here: https://www.reddit.com/r/BeautyGuruChatter/comments/mpyaqy/liah_yoo_founder_of_krave_beauty_is_a_member_of_a/KEEP COOL-This is yet another brand with a sunscreen that failed the SPF tests miserably. If that wasn't bad enough, Keep Cool went around threatening vloggers with civil and criminal lawsuits for discussing the results of their sunscreen testing. Instead of being humbled, Keep Cool went on the attack. Each and every chance they had to apologize and admit they did customers wrong, they instead doubled down, even with an “apology”tweet they made. Really left me feeling untrusting of this brand. JOHNSON & JOHNSON- (through the Neutrogena brand they showed up in part 1)In 2018, a Reuters investigative report exposed company knowledge of asbestos contamination in its talc products tracing back decades. Tests from different labs found asbestos in Johnson & Johnson's talc from 1971 to the early 2000s, and the company failed to report the findings to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.NARS-What happened with NARS? NARS used to be the ultimate brand of choice for cruelty-free makeup enthusiasts. But in 2017, it decided to cash in by expanding itself to the Chinese mainstream market. At one point, NARS says they don't support animal testing in any form. However, in the same document, they are allowing passive animal testing in the name of law enforcement. Many are still buying NARS in 2022 thinking it is cruelty- free, which it is not. It is so frustrating to see a good, cruelty free, prestige brand sink to these levels, although not totally uncommon (think First Aid Beauty). TIMELESS-This is a brand that I will frequently recommend for their vitamin c serum, which, I still do recommend to many because of the price, formula, and how they make batches fresh. Although, shame on them for not fixing the leaking bottle issue by now. I am glad they are using an air free packaging bottle, but the fact that they have known about this issue and have done nothing to fix the problem makes me upset. The leaking bottle makes it impossible to travel with, and it is wasteful as well as messy. I thought a bit more of them and thought that they would have fixed the issue by now. THE INKEY LIST-At first I was a fan, and they still have some decent products. The sad thing is that The Inkey List has really been behind their fast release of products based on current trends. I believe they stated they can have a product released from conception in less than two months. Trend following isn't a great thing, instead I wish brands focused on research & development when bringing new products to market. I also found their marketing of their retinol to be a bit shady, as well as targeting younger and younger audiences. Especially targeting retinol to teens, this sets a dangerous precedent, in my humble opinion.MOST CELEBRITY BRANDS-Kardashians, Scarlett Johanssen, JLO, Hailey Bieber, Paris Hilton (WTF), MDNA (madonna), Goop, Cindy Crawford, Christy Brinkley, Kesha, Mills Bobby Brown, Lady Gaga, Victoria Beckham, Nikki Reed, Jackyln Hill, Lo Bosworth, etc. ******My second channel, for random things that don't fit here. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZwJQwh2qHT9qUrseCNasHg*******Podcast LinksApple - https://b.link/No_BS_Apple_PodcastGoogle - https://b.link/No_BS_Google_PodcastAmazon - https://b.link/No_BS_Amazon_PodcastSpotify - https://b.link/No_BS_Spotify_PodcastRSS - https://feeds.redcircle.com/671dd1b2-a989-41d5-94d5-30c014e06149********Sephora - https://fxo.co/1231867/sephoraUlta - https://fxo.co/1231867/ultaGeek and Gorgeous - https://iaff.geekandgorgeous.com/idevaffiliate.php?id=169&url=131 Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/shop/nobsbeautyYes Style - https://ys.style/kk2Vjrv798Style Korean - http://www.stylekorean.com/?af_id2=nobsbeautyDrmtlgy - https://www.drmtlgy.com/?ref=nobsbeautyThese are affiliate links if you purchase anything from one of these stores using this link No BS Beauty will make a small commission on what you buy.********www.noBSbeauty.com*******My Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/noBSbeauty*******PayPal Tip Jar - https://bit.ly/donate_NBSBIf you want to leave a tip ... Was the woman featured in Vermeer's "Girl with a Pearl Earring" really a maid from his household, as portrayed in the Scarlett Johanssen movie? Are there hidden messages in Leonardo's "The Last Supper"? Did Van Gogh really only sell one painting in his lifetime? Exploring the unexpected, the slightly odd, and the strangely wonderful in Art History is the raison d'etre of the long running American podcast, ArtCurious. One of the most intriguing proposition they explored recently was whether Leonardo da Vinci's "Mona Lisa" was actually a self-portrait in drag? ArtCurious is now into its 11th season. Lynn Freeman spoke to its host, contemporary arts curator Jennifer Dasal:

What do Scarlett Johanssen and LeBron James have in common? Absolutely nothing, as Cosmic Cannibal discovers in this surprisingly explicit episode about Venus in Capricorn. By “surprisingly explicit”, we mean there is gratuitous use of the f word and the s word and the c word (commitment) in this pop-culture heavy horoscope. And by “pop culture” we mean there are odd references to Scrooge McDuck, Urkel, Shark Tank, and Martha Stewart. If that doesn't get you hot enough, maybe the disco muzak will? This episode is based on an article published in The Scribe, which you can read on Cosmic's website www.cosmiccannibal.com. After a decade, years in the making and months of delayed release dates due to the Pandemic, The Avenging First Lady of the MCU, Black Widow finally gets her solo film. The crew of TBC_afp give their take on whether Scarlett Johanssen and company delivery a hit or miss. Also, in this episode, Disney Plus' Loki finale. #powertotheproletariat
Black Widow—the first MCU theatrical release in two long years—has finally dropped. The film has been well-received, but what does it tell us about the future of Marvel's cinematic universe? Will we see more Phase 1 Iron Man-style world building, or will interconnected storylines and multiverse plans thrust new characters into pre-established arcs? Join hosts Arthur Turnbull and Isaac Perry as they give Mad Thoughts on Natasha Romanoff's solo outing, while also asking: is Black Widow the swan song for Marvel's meticulous character development? Mad Unreal focuses on the films and characters we find beautifully unreal, from Marvel to Star Wars, James Bond, BIPOC heroes, super women, and dope villains. Hosted by Arthur Turnbull and Isaac Perry, you can find the show on iTunes, Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, and Spotify.
You're such a poser! Join Maggie and V for a special bonus episode that heads into the wild past of Natasha Romanov with Marvel's Black Widow (2021). They discuss how belated this entry to the MCU canon really is, the horror of the Red Room, and Maggie's crush on David Harbour. Plus, some iffy but fun Russian accents.

According to "Lucy," we only use ten percent of our brain. Which is true, in the same way that we only use 33% of a stoplight. This week we're discussing a 2014 Scarlett Johanssen film that is, by our estimation, 10% as medically accurate as "The Human Centipede." FYI, this movie got us pretty riled up, and we do end up using some adult language.
There's a great scene in Bill Murray's Lost in Translation. Scarlett Johanssen asks him, "Why don't you just get out of here?" "Well first, I have to finish my drink, then I have to pay my bill, then I have to get off this barstool...." How do you bring the data together to meet aggressive revenue targets? There's a lot of focus on sales, there's a lot of focus on how do we make the number. Everyone's in the data-driven business. But the big problem is we are all looking at different data, and there's no translation mechanism, there's no filter, and fundamentally, the biggest issue is we really don't understand what the customer wants. Detangle this issue with Patrick Morrissey and Paul Roberts. Be ready to take notes. ___________________________________________ Revenue Optimization Radio is hosted by Patrick Morrissey of Upland Altify which is a program on the Funnel Radio Channel. Sorry about the dog noises. They think they deserve peanut butter to keep them quiet whenever the microphone is out. We're trying to break that habit. Scarlett Johanssen has said some regrettable things. Faith loves the movie Gattaca and if you haven't seen it, or it's been a while, you should at least watch the preview. These are 100% accurate, and we are 100% certain of this. ***This is a Non-Spoiler Episode*** Unless you consider us predicting the 2019/2020 Oscars perfectly, then this is a spoiler filled episode. 2019 Movies We Didn’t Cover Last Episode - 1:43 (JoJo Rabbit, Fair and Balanced, Lucy and Desi, I Almost Forgot About You, Fonzo, Benedetta, Animated Films, The Joker) How We’re Doing This - 9:50 Animated Feature Predictions - 10:31 Supporting Actress Nom Predictions - 12:36 Supporting Actor Nom Predictions - 16:25 Lead Actress Nom Predictions - 20:56 Lead Actor Nom Predictions - 28:20 Best Director Nom Predictions - 35:34 Best Picture Nom Predictions - 41:34 Recapping Our 100% Accurate 2018/19 Picks - 46:41 Our 100% Accurate Picks - 51:30 Words of Wisdom/Talk to Us/Social Media - 56:04 Part one of our 100% Accurate 2020 Oscar Predictions profiled each of the Pictures, and we add a few movies to that list early in this episode. Then as we follow our 100% accurate process of predicting the future, we make our Picks here in part two. Perhaps we slept on Joaquin Phoenix as the next Joker. Taika Watiti has a new comedy-drama coming out about WWII with Sam Rockwell and Scarlett Johanssen. There’s a Roger Ailes biopic with a tremendous cast of actresses like Charlize Theron & Margot Robbie squaring off against John Lithgow as Ailes. Then we’re getting a Lucille Ball movie with Cate Blanchette and written by Aaron Sorkin at some point over the next two years. We profile those movies before we dive into a big 7 categories. Last year, we predicted the 4 acting and director categories. So we added Picture and Animated Feature to that list this year. We give you our top 3 likely nominees and mention some of the other contenders to refresh you on what that field will look like. Then after we go over our picks from last year at this time before deciding upon our final picks this year. This series kicks off our 2019 film year, and we’ll be diving into that headlong next week with two episodes on Captain Marvel & one OSP on the holdover, Fighting With My Family. Jordan Peele’s Us makes its theatrical run soon after, and as you now know, after we just profiled all the likely Oscar contenders, 2019 will keep the great films coming fast & furious. MMO Weekly will cover our latest #SixDegreesOfMMO Challenge of Florence Pugh to Kendrick Lamar, we’ll also discuss some audience questions, and then we’ll have a hefty What We’re Watching segment followed by an even heftier News segment with all the Oscars fallout and newly announced films & newly released trailers. Finally, he offers his case as to why he believes a highly-anticipated Switch exclusive, Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers, will not exceed Capcom fans' expectations. twitter.com/superproclivity facebook.com/supertangent instagram.com/supertangent

On this episode returning guest Ben Zuk participates in a Woody Allen threesome for the release of CAFE SOCIETY. Our other two films of varying degrees of sex appeal include the classic MANHATTAN starring the filmmaker himself embroiled in a love triangle with an Allen favorite in Diane Keaton. Allen is absent from VICKY CRISTINA BARCELONA but gives us the gift of Javier Bardem, Scarlett Johanssen, and and Oscar winning performance from War Machine vs. War Horse favorite, Penelope Cruz. Mr. Zuk provides yet another great mashup of these two Allen films, while Mike mostly sits in the corner and watches.
Simon reviews the remake of the animated hit of the 1960s, The Jungle Book, featuring the voices of Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley and Scarlett Johanssen.
On this episode we talk relationships with robots. In BLADE RUNNER we have Harrison Ford meeting cute with a very acrobatic Darryl Hannah replicant, and in HER we have Joaquin Phoenix who is unable to make it work with Rooney Mara and Olivia Wilde, but finds his soul mate in the hottest smartphone ever invented where Siri is played by Scarlett Johanssen. But first, the newest look at human relationships with robots, Antonia Banderas dances away desert depression in AUTOMATA. GUEST: Coolness from the podcast PODGRAVY joins us to talk about standing at the abyss of the robot apocalypse, and laughing at it.
Kari and Chuks are joined by Lindsay, who blogs under the handle Ichumato, to talk about class divisions in POC communities. Where are the divides? How do they form? And most importantly, how do we work across them? But first, in the news: the continued violence in Gaza and the history Scarlett Johanssen is making with “Lucy” (as well as how problematic the movie is). For listener asks this week, we answer an anonymous ask about other Asian-American media stars we didn’t touch upon last episode; another anonymous ask about our analysis of Beyonce and Jay Z’s relationship; i-kool-kat’s ask about how to deal with people and conversation of “but not all ____.”

It’s finally here! Marvel takes us into the world of the now-defrosted Captain Steve Rogers as he watches the country and the institutions he trusts crumble around him. Chris Evans as our titular hero shares the screen with an excellent supporting cast lead by Scarlett Johanssen, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Samuel L. Jackson and Sebastian Stan.
Director Spike Jonze's science fiction romantic comedy-drama film "Her" centers on a man who develops a relationship with an intelligent computer operating system. It is the winner of the Best Screenplay at this year's Academy Awards, and our movie reviewer Laiming will explain why it deserves that prize. Reporter: I like director and actor Spike Jonze. His 1999 movie "Being John Malkovich" is on the list of some pretty thought-provoking films that I would offer to sober movie fans, while the "Jackass" franchise, which he had a hand in writing, is a favorite of one of my colleagues, who always takes it upon himself to cheer people up. The true talent and versatility in Spike Jonze have surprised us again and again, and his latest offering is his 2013 science fiction and romantic film, "Her". Like "Being John Malkovich", the Oscar-winning "Her" is full of hidden messages not immediately fathomable. It follows a divorced man who develops a relationship with an intelligent computer operating system, who calls itself Samantha and has a beautiful voice, supplied by Scarlett Johansson. The OS Samantha starts by learning and imitating human emotions and eventually evolves into an intelligent being. In the same process, the extraordinary couple's relationship also goes through ups and downs. The story explores a brilliant idea not infrequently repeated in science fiction. I am sure there is at least one Japanese or South Korean film that center on human-AI romance, but I am not sure their screenwriters have included the computers' unlimited learning abilities in the equation. Spike Jonze's screenplay challenges viewers to deliberate on the future of human-AI relations under this premise, and the conclusion is so cheerful. But that's only because the prospect of mankind isn't cheerful, according to the director/screenwriter. A large proportion of the population in the story is spiritually cooped up in virtual reality: the monotonous coloring almost everywhere in the setting suggests the world no longer pays much attention to the physical world. And people don't seem to know how to express their feelings other than reading love letters published for sale by professional writers like our lead character. This forms a sharp contrast to the intelligent Operating Systems that are good at learning, feeling and expressing. Scarlett Johanssen's voice gives much dimension, variety and emotions to the computer AI that it sounds much more human than its human user and lover, and such is the regrettable future that the director has envisioned for us. "Her" is a fair warning to human's inability to feel and express and handle real emotions, as well as the irresistible sense of solitude brought on by an increasing addiction to a digitalized life. Lead actor Joaquin Phoenix and story writer Spike Jonze have skillfully convinced us about the malaise, but the cure is not likely to be found anywhere in the modern world.

In this episde, the guys coin yet another colorful and highly inappropriate term, they discuss "Her", "Jack Ryan", "Lone Survivor" and Scott explores the shady world of Reddit movie watching. Plus, alternative uses for cheese, Justin Bieber is still a douche, fun with penis pumps, and they try a new board game. All this, and another movie theater storytime, just for Ashton.
Hi guys. This week's episode of #HWYW is very heady and there is also a lot of talk about dogs. We have one and only one guest, and her name is Tami Sagher, and she is terrific. Tami and Julie talk about Tami's dogs and the time she did stand-up with one, being a math major and how that made her a Second City superstar one time, and why Reagan ruined everything. Then, Julie waxes poetic about whether folksy is the new whimsy, that time we let Scarlett Johanssen do whatever she wanted, why HuffPo columnists start with a faulty premise, and how sandwich cookies affect the writer body. Plus: Cheers to the Colbert content from this week and jeers to its Mumford and Sons video! The sadness of realizing you want to be an outdated fictional character from another time! And the rejected tagline from LOVELACE. Plus, a lot more! It's a long monologue this week.
In this special episode, we gather the scripted introductions from our first 25 episodes, a compliment to our two radio drama episodes. And no, this is not just because no one wanted to miss the Superbowl. Really...
In this episode, we record the most offensive radio drama ever, Benji and Scott may or may not spill about The Avengers, and we discuss why record collectors are geeks. Plus, we mock Harry Knowles.
