Welcome to the Meta Milspouse Roundtable Tour with Moni Jefferson We are grateful for YOU, our listeners, partners, and sponsors.  In this episode, Moni talks about the first Meta Roundtable at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. This specific location is very transient, with spouses only there for nine to ten months at a time. This makes it extra challenging to continue running a business, and many military spouses stationed there will put their business on hold or shut it down altogether. Key takeaways from this episode include:  Moni talks about the partnership with Meta and the places she's been with other AMSE members and military spouses.   Meta is a community-driven platform interested in learning about military spouse issues. The spouses in attendance felt they could share their hearts and struggles as military spouse entrepreneurs with the Meta and The Center for Entrepreneurship.  The spouses in attendance are service and product-based businesses.  This two - three-hour roundtable discussion served lunch and refreshments with a discussion of essential topics for military spouses.  AMSE is grateful for those who attended - including members of Meta - Haley Lickstein, Diana Doukas, and Maui Orozco, and members of The Center for Entrepreneurship - John Dearie and Katie Allen. We also had two chapter leaders from town to attend - Anna Larson and Andrea Singsaas. Plus, AMSE's Operations Manager, Michelle Hughes.  The Center for Entrepreneurship is working alongside AMSE to help legislate for military spouse entrepreneurs. Military spouses should be able to streamline the process of starting a business and pcs from state to state, country to country, without having to constantly jump hurdles or put their business on hold because of red tape.    Join us next week for round two of the Meta Milspouse Roundtable Tour with CEO and Host Moni Jefferson.    If you're new to Owning Up, subscribe to know when a new episode drops. Welcome to the PCS Special Sunday Series with Moni Jefferson First, we are grateful for YOU, our listeners, partners, and sponsors.  Second, Moni wants to convey the importance of taking it one day at a time. Especially if you have a lot of personal things happening, you have to take the time to take care of yourself. Otherwise, you'll get overwhelmed.  Tips from this episode:  No matter where you are in your PCS process, make sure you have a project management tool to help you keep your operations on track. Monday.com has a free version, and because they are an AMSE partner, you can access it through your dashboard.  Use the AMSE PCS Trello Board to help you.  Even if you're getting close to your move date, hire more people to help you with your business.  Let go and let your team do their stuff! One of our new corporate sponsors is Meta - formerly known as Facebook. We will be joining them for a five-base tour this summer.  To the best of your ability, clear the calendar before and during the month of the move.  Use the MyPCS App to make a checklist for your business.  Something to remember - PCSing doesn't have to be complicated. And, you are allowed to pivot and move things that aren't needing immediate attention during this time. Serve your audience/clients that best represent your values and mission.  Have some tips you want to share about PSCing your business? Email them to podcast@amseagency.com. Welcome back, listeners! It's Season 4 of Owning Up!  First, we are grateful for YOU, our listeners, partners, and sponsors.  Now, let's jump right in! This season, Moni wanted to bring on guests who are influencers in our community. They are dreamers, makers, doers, believers, bold and bravely creating the career of their dreams. This podcast is here to support military spouse business owners. Moni talks with Jessica Wright, CEO, and founder of Wright Life Coaching. Jessica is an AMSE member and life coach. She has her masters in Transformational Leadership and is a member of the International Coaching Federation. Plus, she's a vegan cupcake maker!  Jessica helps others release limiting beliefs in her business. She walks alongside them, reflects on them, and tries to help them go beneath the narrative they have built for themselves. Her main thing to ask is, “why?” This helps them connect their values to their purpose. Jessica believes being a changemaker isn't reserved only for those in charge. Anyone can be a changemaker. So she created a free gift - 12 Journal Prompts for Changemakers that will help deepen your reflections and elevate your leadership skills. Here are some other things you'll hear in this episode:  Life can feel like a tornado. But you may not be able to show up with intention because you're caught up in the tornado. You have to figure out what's at the core.  You can show up with intention when you have a stronger sense of what's at the core.   She's starting a course about Identity to help others find themselves and teach them to keep from losing who they are to other things. Such as a job, a role, or even what others think of them.  Learn to let go of limiting beliefs.  It's not all going to fall apart if you take 15 minutes just to breathe. So you don't have to do everything.  She loves to work with others one-on-one.  One way to be intentional is with your words.  Intention has a lot to do with how we do or don't understand who we are.  For more information about Jessica, visit her website or find them on Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook. Welcome to the 3rd Installment of the PCS Special Sunday Series with Moni Jefferson First, we are grateful for YOU, our listeners, partners, and sponsors.  Second, a quick recap of last week's episode. Moni talked about a few essential items:  Use project management tools such as AMSE's PCS Trello Board. Put these in place for your family and business 90 days in advance.  Ensure your SOPs (standard operating procedures) are well defined and available for your team or those helping you run your business while moving.  You can access free templates online to create your SOP, but you can also create a video breaking down the SOP. Whether they help your team during the PCS or if you need to onboard a new team member, a video explanation can be a great tool!  Set up a workflow with deadlines that work best for you and your team.  This is a great time to re-evaluate what items need your immediate attention. Ask yourself. Tips from this episode:  While you're waiting on a move date, give yourself and your family a lot of grace. Family stuff to get ready six weeks out:  Get your kid's records to keep with you in case you have to change where they have to go to school.  Make those final medical appointments - dentist, eye exams, physicals, etc.  Get your medications filled a few months out for that just in case moment!  Go through your clothing, especially your kid's clothing. They could've outgrown some things or just don't want them anymore. This is a great time to purge.  Business stuff to take care of:  Hire those new team members to help during this time. Always good to do it before you get overwhelmed.  Really knock out those SOPs.  If there's something you've been asked to do, this is the time to learn to say no. Ask yourself - is it essential, and what's the ROI for this?  Be careful not to put too much pressure on your team during this time.  Use the MyPCS App to make a checklist for your business.  Use the PCS Your Business Blueprint to make your move easier.  Something to remember - PCSing doesn't have to be complicated. And, you are allowed to pivot and move things that aren't needing immediate attention during this time. This season, Moni wanted to bring on guests who are influencers in our community. They are dreamers, makers, doers, believers, bold and bravely creating the career of their dreams. This podcast is here to support military spouse business owners. Moni talks with AMSE Coach and financial advisor for Northwestern Mutual, Noea Moss. Noea has been an AMSE member since the beginning, and she's been coaching for the past 6 - 8 months. When she was in college, she was seeking a business degree. Some financial advisors visited one of her classes, and she decided to do an internship with them.  Noea shares that it was a huge learning curve in the beginning as a financial advisor. Her spouse was supportive. She learned to set boundaries to make sure things get done.  She knew she would be a military spouse and wanted a career that would be able to move anywhere.  She realized a lack of engaging the spouses in the financial process and decided to involve both people. Regardless of who makes the money.  When dealing with finances, the spouse may not work outside of the home, but they are usually the one who pays the bills.  She dealt with a sexist comment by getting support from other females in her industry.  Being a young female, she is breaking the glass ceiling in the financial advisor world.   Saw the ad for AMSE and was so excited to sign up. She can be a resource to other military families.  Entrepreneurs need to create a retirement package, track their profits and losses, and prepare an emergency fund for your business for those months when you're not making as much money in your industry.  For more information about Noea and her company, visit her website or find them on LinkedIn and Facebook.  If you're new to Owning Up, make sure and subscribe, so you'll know when a new episode drops. Welcome back, listeners! It's Season 4 of Owning Up!  First, we are grateful for YOU, our listeners, partners, and sponsors.  Now, let's jump right in! In this season, Moni wanted to bring on guests who influence the community and are dreamers, makers, doers, believers, bold and bravely creating the career of their dreams. This podcast is here to support military spouse business owners. Our guest this week is Mary-Catherine LaBossiere. She is a registered dietitian and is the CEO and creator of Defy Nutrition. Her goal is to help people with a very specific relationship - food. She shares her story of why she started this journey and business in this podcast.  Some takeaways from this episode:  Her journey began as a competitive athlete in middle school, followed by the loss of her mother.  In high school, she lost her mother to cancer, which was the catalyst for where she is now.   She wanted to be on the prevention and advocacy side of medicine and stop labeling people by weight.   She received her Bachelor's Degree as a Registered Dietician then her Master's in Public Health.  She was considered obese at one point and then developed an eating disorder. She realized that healthcare professionals don't always listen or meet patients where they are at on their journey. She was rigid with some things at one point, but she's learned to be more flexible and aligned to meet her client's needs. She used AMSE resources to grow her business, leading to where she is now.   She loves the connections and friends she's met as an AMSE member.  Community means so much to her and adds value to her life.  She is currently serving AMSE members as an AMSE coach.  Ways to connect with Mary-Catherine:  Defy Nutrition website.  Find her on Instagram.  Follow Defy Nutrition on Facebook. The guide is a living document and will continue to evolve. The Space Force is also included in the Air Force family.   We both can help each other and bring everyone to the same level of understanding.  She has the opportunity to travel with her husband and gets to meet with spouses of all ranks to hear the topics that continue to be brought up.  A joint effort between my team and myself to meet families where they are, listen to their concerns and give respectful feedback in areas that may be blind spots for leadership positions.  The guide is giving a voice to the Air Force families.  Ways to connect with Mrs. Brown:  If you'd like to email Mrs. Brown and her Five and Thrive Team send an email to CSAFSpouseSITREP@gmail.com or check out the Five and Thrive Guide for yourself!  AirForce families can use the App- AirForce Connect App to connect with their AirForce community.  Follow Mrs. Brown on Facebook to see everything going on and the advocacy she's doing. This podcast is here to support military spouse business owners. Sara Copp is not only an AMSE Coach but an Army Veteran. She currently owns her own business, Think Social, HQ. But there is so much more to Sara! She is also an E-commerce Expert, Digital Marketer, Community Growth Specialist, Etsy Coach, Machine Embroider, Group Fitness Instructor, Military Spouse Wife, and Mom of two. But her “ah-ha” moment was when she attended a Military Influencer Conference. She felt like she had found her people in the military spouse entrepreneur community.  When Sara got out of the military, her oldest child was one year old. Sara knew she needed to find something else to step into that filled the desire within her to connect with others. While still on active duty she had started her side hustle. Finding a way to replace the money she was making in the military was her goal. She had always worked, even as a kid. Sara knew she could meet her goal, but she wasn't sure exactly how yet. She loves writing SOP and social media strategies.  She realized outsourcing was going to be necessary to her business growth.  She hired a coach to pay for their knowledge to reach her goal faster. She suggests that you hire the right person to show you the way.  One of her company's things is creating the backend of business structuring. This season, Moni wanted to bring on guests who influence the community and are dreamers, makers, doers, believers, bold and bravely creating the career of their dreams. This podcast is here to support military spouse business owners. Amy Upchurch suffered from female issues throughout her younger years. After dealing with a debilitating diagnosis during her first three pregnancies, the fourth one made her say, “Enough. I'm going to figure this out.” With the help of her family, she dove into information to improve her overall health and improve her life. This was when Pink Stork was born.  For Amy, Pink Stork is more than just a business that provides supplements, tea, and more for women. She wanted her company to meet women right where they are so they feel supported in whatever situation they are dealing with.  What are those challenges you're facing every day? We're here to encourage you. Meeting women where they are. A safe opportunity to connect.  All the products are produced in the United States and undergo numerous tests. This ensures that the products are safe for women regardless of the stage of life.  Pink Stork is sold In Target, Amazon, CVS, and more!  Started the company in 2015 but launched in 2016.  Amy's faith and belief in God are vital to her and her family.  Hearing “no” is just something entrepreneurs will hear, and you have to keep moving forward.  Moni believes that you don't have to have it all figured out while starting your business. This is your journey, and you just have to embrace it as you go.  For more information about Amy and her company, visit the Pink Stork website or find them on Instagram and Facebook.  If you're new to Owning Up, make sure and subscribe, so you'll know when a new episode drops. This season, Moni wanted to bring on guests who influence the community and are dreamers, makers, doers, believers, bold and bravely creating the career of their dreams. This podcast is here to support military spouse business owners. Our guest this week is Lacey Langford - veteran, military spouse, financial coach, and speaker. Lacey grew up as an army brat and then joined the air force, where she met her husband. After getting out of the military, she realized that she wanted a PCS-proof career. So she went back to school for her finance degree but struggled to reach her full earning potential and decided to start her own business.  Some takeaways from this episode:  Lacey realized she was tired of volunteering but is so glad she did because she believes volunteering allows you to learn and grow in areas where you aren't the greatest. You can fail, and it's okay.  Your business is your imaginary friend. No one gets it at the beginning. It's only you. You're trying to get others on board with something when it's starting. You have to build your confidence. If you don't believe in yourself, no one else will.  You need to understand every component of your business, even if you're not going to be the one to do it. It allows you to know all the ins and outs of your business.  She realized that she could reach more people with a podcast and write her blog, so she did!  Ignore the people who criticize you. They aren't going to be there for you or support you. Finances in the military don't have to be a scary topic. Don't beat yourself up with your finances wherever you are in life. But, spend more than you make and save and invest for the future. That's the core to financial freedom.  Save for emergencies and opportunities. Unfortunately, most people only save for emergencies.  Take things as they come and know you need to make money.  Start your business even if you're not an expert yet. Just start! You can't be an expert until you start and get going.  Entrepreneurs can get a 401K. So start planning for your 80-year-old self now.  If you're a milspouse with a business or are thinking of starting one, join us here at AMSE Membership. This season, Moni wanted to bring on guests who influence the community and are dreamers, makers, doers, believers, bold and bravely creating the career of their dreams. This podcast is here to support military spouse business owners. Our guest this week is Moniek James - veteran, military spouse, speaker, author, columnist, online serial entrepreneur, and founder of Renegade Creative Media Group. Moniek's mission is: “Teaching small business owners and brands how to leverage content marketing to deliver their genius to the world.” After being in the military, Moniek found herself at a job where she was denied a raise to match her counterpart. This is where her entrepreneurial journey began. First, she started a blog about beauty and fashion, which led to local events. Then, the blog ended up turning into a business.  Some takeaways from this episode:  The personal and business journey is about self-discovery. First, figure out who you are to show up as that person.  Think of your life as an obstacle course. What are you going to do to get through it?  Everything is a choice, even situations that aren't a win. But how you face that challenge matters. What's available to you to help you grow and be different? What will position you for more growth? What is it teaching you?  Learn to talk about your products strategically with messages designed to show how your business can change the mind of your customers.  Moniek is a confidence coach and teaches four types of frameworks to help her clients, which she shares with us in this episode.  Moniek is one of our AMSE Group Coaches and Writers.  She evolved from the challenges that she has faced and continues to take the time to learn and develop her skills.
