De 6 categorías a 3. De los 4 tiempos a motores de 2 y más tarde, de nuevo, de 4. De motores con muchos cilindros a 1, 2 o 4, en Moto3, Moto2 y MotoGP respetivamente… y en la máxima categoría de motores de 500 a motores de 1.000 cm3 con mucha electrónica… Han cambiado muchas cosas en el Mundial… ¿para bien o para mal? De alguna forma este vídeo es un homenaje a nuestro reciente y brillante Campeón del Mundo de MotoGP, el madrileño Jorge Martín, al resto de los Campeones del Mundo, Ogura y Alonso, y a todos los participantes en el Mundial en cualquier categoría. Gracias por el espectáculo que dais, gracias por vuestra deportividad y por darlo todo. Las motos, al principio, por su diseño y por la adherencia de los neumáticos, mucho menor que las de ahora, eran menos físicas, y era habitual que los pilotos participasen en más de una categoría… y es que había unas cuantas... ¡Vamos a ver cuáles! Os doy un dato: El Campeonato Mundial de Motociclismo o FIM World Championship Grand Prix o más comúnmente denominado “MotoGP” es más antiguo que la F1… solo un año, 1949 por 1950… pero como en las carreras, da igual ganar por una vuelta o por una milésima… así que es más antiguo y punto. Al principio había “solo” … ya veréis por qué digo sólo, 5 categorías, 4 individuales y una por parejas. Os hablo de 125, 250, 350, 500 y sidecars o sides a secas. En 1962 se incorpora una nueva categoría que daría mucha gloria a los pilotos españoles, la de 50 cm3 llamadas las “tacitas de café”. El motivo es obvio, con solo un cilindro de 50 cm3 el diámetro por carrera puede ser, por ejemplo, de 43x28 mm… más o menos como una taza de café. Estas motos requerían pilotos muy habilidosos, sin duda, pero también de tamaño y peso reducido, porque su potencia sondaba apenas los 20 CV a regímenes altísimos… El reglamento técnico era muy liberal y no discriminaba el tipo de motor, podía ser de 2 o 4 tiempos, pero con la misma cilindrada, ni era muy limitativo con el número de cilindros y de velocidades… Eso dio lugar a motos de 50 cm3 con dos cilindros, como la Suzuki RK67 que giraba a casi 20.000 rpm, ofrecía 17,5 CV y contaba con un cambio de 14 velocidades. Hubo 125 de 4 y 5 cilindros, como la Ducati 125-4 de 1965; de 6 en 250, como la Honda RC166 de 1965, incluso de 8, como la Guzzi V8 de 1955 de 500. Y había cajas de camio de hasta con 16 velocidades. En 1982 desaparece 350… una pena pues eran motos muy equilibradas, más potentes que las 250 y más ligera que las 500. Solo dos años más tarde, en 1984, desaparece la categoría de 50 y se sustituye por la de 80 cm3. Y en aras de abaratar costes en 1988 se obliga a que las motos de 125 sean solo mono cilíndricas, como la de 80 cm3… a la larga esta medida acaba con las motos de 80, pues ambas categorías eran muy próximas, con motores mono cilíndricos de 80 o 125 cm3. En 1989 se disputa el ultimo Campeonato del Mundo de 80 que ganó el español Manuel “Champi” Herreros. También desaparecen los “sides”…. Aunque realmente no desaparecen, sino que se desvinculan del Mundial porque ha resultado ser una de las disciplinas más longevas… en España no hay tradición, pero mucha en Alemania y Reino Unido y se sigue disputando como Sidecar World Championship. Hasta 2001 las categorías del Mundial era 3, 125, 250 y 500… todo muy logia, la categoría superior doblaba en cilindrada y prestaciones a la inferior… pero llega el gran cambio: En 2002 llegan las 4 tiempos a la categoría máxima, pero con cilindrada de 500 cm3 para las motos de 2 tiempos y 990 cm3 para las de 4 tiempos. Aunque corren juntas esa temporada de 2002 y la siguiente, la ventaja de casi el doble de cilindrada de la 4 tiempos, hacen que a pesar de resultar más pesadas, sean más competitivas… y es que los motores de 2 tiempos iban poco a poco desapareciendo del mercado y se pensó que lo mismo tenía que suceder en la competición. La categoría máxima pasa de llamarse 500 a denominarse MotoGP. Pero las motos de 990 cm3 y 4 tiempos corrían demasiado y en aras de la seguridad en 2007 el tope de cilindrada se reduce a 800 cm3… pero resulta que esos motores, mucho más revolucionados, no son más seguros, así que a partir de 2012 se vuelve al tope de 1.000 cm3… que volverá a reducirse a 850 cm3 en 2027… ¡vaya locura! El Mundial poco a poco se va haciendo un Mundial con motores de 4 tiempos. En 2009 la bicilíndricas de 250 cm3 y dos tiempos pasan a ser mecánicas uncias para todos de 4 cilindros y 600 cm3… nace Moto2. Y en 2011 la categoría de 125, que llevaba sobreviviendo desde 1949, desaparece y sus motores de un cilindro y 2 tiempos pasan a ser motores también mono cilíndricos, pero de 4 tiempos y 250 cm3… nace Moto3. En 2019 aparece otra categoría que de momento está pasando casi diría que sin pena ni gloría: Moto E, un campeonato destinado a las motos Eléctricas. Realmente nace como “Copa del Mundo” y ya en 2023 para a ser Campeonato del Mundo. Como digo, nadie hace mucho caso a las motos eléctricas. Pero por motivos medioambientales y de mercado las motos de 4 tiempos propiciaron la desaparición de las motos de 2 tiempos… a ver si no va a pasar lo mismo con la Moto E. Conclusión. Espero que os haya parecido interesante este repaso por la evolución técnica tan interesante que ha sufrido el Campeonato del Mundo de Motociclismo. En realidad es una prueba de que está muy vivo, de que se actualiza, de que trata de acomodarse a los tiempos… Pero algo ha cambiado y es que realmente en el pasado las categorías de menor cilindrada no se consideraban “categorías inferiores”. Había grandes pilotos especializados en estas categorías… no nos podemos olvidar del mejor, Ángel Nieto. Echo de menos esas mañanas de domingo viendo las carreras de 50 u 80, luego la de 125, más tarde la de 250 y por fin, al plato fuerte, los 500 cm3. Aunque temporadas como las que nos han brindado este año Jorge martín y Pecco Bagnaia me confirman que estos tiempos, estos mundiales, son también excepcionales… ¡y el que viene seguramente lo será más!

Partendo dai test appena conclusi, con Renè collegato dalla sala stampa del circuito toscano. Per cominciare, il quadro dei test MotoGP di oggi e un aggiornamento sulle condizioni di Lukas Tulovic. Poi la terza vittoria consecutiva di Bagnaia al Mugello (dopo aver dominato anche Il sabato): come è stata costruita e come il numero 1 ha battuto i fortissimi Bastianini e Martin saliti sul podio. Con Bernardelle partiremo da qui, dalla GP 24 arrivata al suo top prestazionale e da Marc Marquez che si è battuto come un leone sulla GP23: oggi visibilmente superata dalla nuova rossa. Le inaspettate difficoltà di Acosta e della KTM, di Vinales e dell'Aprilia, poi le giapponesi indietro nonostante gli sforzi; infine la gestione delle gomme e la difficoltà di mantenere l'anteriore in efficienza. Cosa ha ceduto sulla RS-GP di Vinales? E come ha costruito Acosta la scalata al podio con Martin e Bastianini? Il vantaggio di chi parte davanti, le difficoltà nei sorpassi, alcuni problemi in frenata; poi la crisi profonda della Honda e le difficoltà della Yamaha.
