Ponch and Jon have some run-ins with, what we like to call, a wheelchair gang. They are driving recklessly, antagonizing people and a street fair, and almost rolling into the street with a girl. Turns out the dudes are okay guys since they help out a rehab center. Also, some guy's kid gets hit by a car and the wheelchair gang ends up finding the guy. Then, to top it off, the wheelchair gang ends up getting in a chase with the father and they all crash CHiPs style. It's a wild ride!

First, a quick catch-up on #Election2024 (aka MasterDebaters), some youth hockey updates and a third installment of figuring out what gymnastics is like for eight-year-olds. Then, on to the movie... Do or Die, the sixth installment of the L.E.T.H.A.L, a movie series that should stop doing and just die. Steve is curious to see how Andy Sedaris might refine his storytelling over the years, and it appears as though the answer is that he just decided to stop telling stories. Mister Miyagi shows up and tells our Secret Agent Women from the jump that he wants to kill them. Not exactly sure why, but whatever. Anyway, he hired six teams of assassins. Donna and Nicole have to face this challenge, sadly Taryn gets this week off. Ponch from C.H.I.P.s shows up to help the ladies. If the acting and writing haven't improved, at least they've at least got the timing of nudity/gun fight/chase scene down to a science. Do or Die final grade: Steve The lack of any attempt to tell a story in this one actually made it one of the better Sidaris movies. It's a new year and time for our Grand Slam correspondent to preview American and Southern players. USTA General Manager, Player Development Martin Blackman calls in from Down Under with high hopes for players with Georgia roots: Coco Gauff, Taylor Townsend, Ben Shelton & Christopher Eubanks. Yolanda “Yola” Ramírez Ochoa won mixed doubles and finished as a singles finalist twice at Roland Garros. The former No. 6 in the world from Mexico chats about her illustrious career with her son, Ponch, a top-flight player himself.
Talking Tennis Soutern Style promotes Hispanic Heritage Month. With almost twenty years of experience as a tennis teacher, Belén Gómez-Jordana founded the non-profit and NJTL United Tennis. In order to counter stereotypes, Gómez-Jordana created the Tennis for All program. She delivers group and individual classes at a very low cost. Gómez-Jordana volunteers on the USTA North Carolina Diversity and Inclusion Committee and is a former journalist at Telemundo Noticias Charlotte. Ponch Ochoa was an All-American at North Carolina State and cites his family background for launching his tennis career. He is the son of French Open 1958 women's doubles and 1959 mixed doubles champion Yolanda "Yola" Ramírez Ochoa. Ponch remembers her ability, tenacity and grit as a tennis coach. His father, Alfonso Ochoa, was also a top-level pro who played on the ATP Tour. We celebrate North Carolinian juniors Siddhant Dua & Smyan Vijay and the newest inductees into the Alabama Tennis Hall of Fame: Leslie Hewett Bashinsky and Dudley Reynolds.
Vinnie Montez knew he wanted to be a law enforcement officer from a young age. He grew up watching the Ponch and John characters on the CHIPs TV show and loved the way they were pictured interacting with the public in a respectful way. Vinnie joined the law enforcement cadets program as soon as he could and became a deputy in 1998. He has now served over two decades as a Deputy Sheriff with the Boulder County Sheriff's office. Early in his career he says he was very “gung ho” and was warned by his fellow officers about burning the candle at both ends. Like many law enforcement officers he compartmentalized the trauma he encountered because he didn't want anyone to think he wasn't capable of performing his duties. In 2008 he came across a vehicle accident and, despite desperate efforts to save the life of one of the passengers, he failed. That experience “flipped a circuit breaker” and made him re-examine his mental health. Vinnie encourages fellow officers to seek counseling if they need it but emphasizes the importance of speaking to professionals who specialize in working with law enforcement officers. Vinnie turned to stand-up comedy as a way of dealing with the stress and trauma of his job. He is now a nationally touring comedian and has shared the stage with the likes of Gilbert Gottfried & Paul Rodriguez. His Dry Bar Comedy special “Armed & Hilarious” debuted in 2019. Cop stories and his Mexican heritage underpin much of his routine because “truth can indeed be stranger than fiction.” Many of his performances are fundraisers for law enforcement & military charities. Vinnie is active with the Humanizing the Badge initiative. His Facebook post “You don't know me” encourages civilians to get to know their local law enforcement and has received 3.2 million views and 11,000 comments. TAKEAWAY: “Just like stand-up comedy, if you want to be a good law enforcement officer you have to invest the time and dedicate yourself to the craft.”

The midterms are here and there's some messy California races to mop up. Luckily, our cohosts are not alone. Former publisher and podcaster Stephen Daniels joins the show to talk about several California races, including the 27th Congressional District race between Christy Smith and Rep. Mike "Ponch" Garcia, the 40th Assembly district race between Pilar Schiavo and Assemblywoman Suzette Martinez Valladares, the Los Angeles mayor race, several propositions and the sensational race between Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva and (his successor; bye bye, Alex) Robert Luna. Thank you very much to Yama for commissioning this episode! In these chapters, we have an amazing faceoff between The Lone One and Ponch, and it's just wonderful. I was not expecting this at all. However, that is NOT to say that we haven't suffered some terrible losses, and I'm not sure how permanent they all are but I suspect one of them might be a done deal. Thanks so much for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!

Our fourth episode on Greenskins we look at two very different warlords both of whom were influenced by external sources. The legendary brutality of the Greenskins was often used as a weapon by manipulative foes. Azhag the Slaughterer rose to prominence in Kislev after the discovery of a mysterious crown, one that imbued him with magical powers at the expense of invidious directives. Grom the Pauch, the greatest goblin warlord in history brought the empire to its knees before being driven, through omens and portents, to sail his entire army to a mist covered continent. This month's episode is sponsored by Barrel Bash 2410 and Grom's Arboreal Workout.
