Using Lucid Dreaming to Manifest Your Reality with Robert Waggoner

Conscious Fertility

Lucid dreaming is one of life's mysteries that we have slowly been unraveling over the past several decades. It wasn't until the 1980's that we had scientific evidence that it was even possible, despite people having this ability for as long as humans have been around. Now, we're able to point to lucid dreaming as a way to not only access the subconscious mind, but bring it into the conscious, and even change our waking reality. Robert Waggoner has been lucid dreaming since before there was evidence of it. In his book, Lucid Dreaming: Gateway to the Inner Self, he writes about how lucid dreaming can be another gateway to tap into consciousness and find peace of mind. In this episode, he talks about how lucid dreaming can be used for creativity, physical and mental healing, learning ourselves more deeply, and even manifesting our deepest desires. He explains how this could be applied to the fertility journey as a way to improve our physical and mental health and do inner healing that can be reflected into our outer world. If you've ever been curious about lucid dreaming or want to try it yourself, hearing Robert's experiences and guidance in this episode is the perfect place to start. Key Topics/Takeaways: Robert's introduction to lucid dreaming as a child [1:50] Why lucid dreaming isn't just for entertainment [6:23] The awareness behind the dream [13:05] Dreams as a communication pathway with your unborn child [19:25] Surrendering to lucid dreams [23:47] How Robert's view of the world has changed since lucid dreaming [28:42] Manifesting physical healing in dreams [31:28] Preparing yourself for lucid dreaming [37:01] Speaking to your unconscious mind [39:33] Manifesting your desires with neutral beliefs [43:59] About Robert Waggoner: Robert Waggoner wrote the acclaimed book, Lucid Dreaming – Gateway to the Inner Self, and co-authored Lucid Dreaming Plain and Simple with Caroline McCready. A past President of the International Association for the Study of Dreams (IASD), Waggoner serves as co-editor of the online magazine, The Lucid Dreaming Experience, the only ongoing publication devoted specifically to lucid dreaming. A lucid dreamer since 1975, he has logged more than 1,000 lucid dreams. To celebrate World Lucid Dreaming Day (12 April), we're replaying our interview with Robert Waggoner, a leading expert on lucid dreaming. One of the world's top lucid dreamers, Robert Waggoner, joins Dave and Laura for a fascinating journey into the often so-called “rare” dream state of lucid dreaming. But as Robert will show, it's not that rare for some people, and you can try it too.     Author of Lucid Dreaming: Gateway to the Inner Self and Lucid Dreaming Plain and Simple (with Caroline McCready), Robert shares how he has had over a thousand lucid dreams since he discovered he could do it whilst at high school in the US on reading Carlos Castaneda's books about Don Juan. We hear what he has learned from his lucid dreams, from tips on becoming lucid in a dream to answers to some of his questions about the nature of consciousness, which he started to explore once he got bored with flying and walking through walls in his dreams. It turns out there's more to lucid dreaming than manipulating the dream reality, more than wish fulfilment, and certainly more than making yourself more productive.  We look at the history of research into lucid dreaming. What is lucid dreaming, according to Robert Robert's own techniques and how to try this out for yourself. Lucid games of flying, walking through walls and having sex. How to stay lucid and not wake up.  The impact of the film Inception on Lucid Dreaming Neuroscience studies on the state Robert's own principles of Lucid Dreaming and its gateway to the deeper state of amazing spiritual experiences and being connected to a larger awareness. For the Dream of the Week, Robert also shares his lucid dream in which his mother-in-law returns from the land of the dead with an important message for him.  Mentioned in this episode: Lucid Advice website (lucid-dreaming-advice.com) Lucid Dreaming Magazine (Luciddreamingmagazine.com)         Let us know what you think, and submit a dream for us to explore on the podcast!  Instagram @thedreamboatpodcast FaceBook @dreamboatpodcast Twitter @dreamboatpod DRI website: driccpe.org.uk/contact  This podcast is a project of the DRI, the centre for dream studies at CCPE, the psychotherapy college overlooking the canals at London's scenic Little Venice.

Moving in the Lucid DReam State Based on the book Journey to Ixtlan: The Lessons of Don Juan by Carlos Castaneda Lucid Dreaming - Gateway to the inner Self by Robert Waggoner. In the realm of lucid dream space, the boundaries between imagination and reality blur, and the possibilities are as vast as the dreamer's expectations. It's a place where the apparent distance between you and a distant hill is not measured in physical steps but in the focus and intent of your mind. For those embarking on the journey of lucid dreaming, mastering the art of flying becomes a primary goal. In this surreal space, the idea of effortlessly soaring from point A to point B seems logical – after all, it's a dream, right? Yet, the dreamer's experience can be as diverse as the dreams themselves. Some find the act of movement in this dream world as natural as breathing, while others encounter frustration, feeling stuck and constrained by an invisible force. What they may not realise is that their struggle is often rooted in the belief that physical effort is required, a notion perpetuated by the lingering habits of waking reality. The mind, emotions, and mental action precede the effect. Welcome to The Dream Realm Sweet Dreams

Lucid Dreams vs. OBEs Based on the book Journey to Ixtlan: The Lessons of Don Juan by Carlos Castaneda Lucid Dreaming - Gateway to the inner Self by Robert Waggoner. Robert Waggoner mentions six clear distinctions between Lucid Dreams and OBEs. Those experiencing OBEs normally recognise their state from the start; they report unique vibratory and energy sensations preceding their experiences; they seem to accept and not change their environment; they seem to recall easily the details of their experience; and OBE reports contain more reference to "returning to the body." Lucid dreamers, by contrast, report that lucid dreams normally occur late at night and within a dream; lucid dreamers note a distinct change in awareness from non-lucid awareness; they rarely report any unique sounds or sensations preceding their lucid dreams; they frequently change the environment; long lucid dreams seem relatively more difficult to recall in exact detail; and, finally, most lucid dreamers report that they decide to "wake up" or realise that the dream has ended. Moving in Mental Space Based on the book Journey to Ixtlan: The Lessons of Don Juan by Carlos Castaneda Lucid Dreaming - Gateway to the inner Self by Robert Waggoner. In the realm of lucid dreaming, where explorers tread the mysterious paths of the mind, a tapestry of extraordinary phenomena unfolds. Among these, the dance with out-of-body experiences (OBEs) is a well-known waltz. A survey of these dream pioneers reveals a fascinating connection between lucid dreaming and the ethereal realm of OBEs. For Robber Waggoner, the term "out-of-body" feels inadequate, a misrepresentation of the experience. He insists that during his OBEs, his awareness didn't abandon his body; rather, it embraced a different, non-physical form. Hence, he proposes a more fitting label – the 'projection of consciousness.' A tantalising question arises like a whisper in the night breeze: Does awareness tether itself exclusively to a physical vessel, or does it, like a wandering spirit, explore realms both within and beyond the confines of the body? For many dreamers, the journey begins with the art of lucid dreaming before stumbling upon the less frequent, spontaneous waltz of OBEs. Is this a mere coincidence, or does it signify a deeper connection between the two experiences? Could it be that one's passion for delving into the mysteries of awareness serves as the bridge between these realms? It can be suggested that local OBEs are a 'reality plus one' phenomenon. These experiences beautifully mimic the waking world, yet bear the additional layers of subconscious desires and intentions woven seamlessly into the dream tapestry. It's as if reality itself gains an extra dimension, a touch of the fantastical fuelled by the whispers of the dreaming mind. Welcome to the Dream Realm Sweet Dreams

Do You Still Believe You Control the Dream? Based on the book Journey to Ixtlan: The Lessons of Don Juan by Carlos Castaneda Lucid Dreaming - Gateway to the inner Self by Robert Waggoner. Lucid dreamers, particularly beginners, can occasionally behave like “Conquistadors of Consciousness”, and proclaim dominion over a dream that they fail to understand or appreciate. Control suggests fundamental dominance or authority over. By contrast, lucid dreamers show varying degrees of ability to manipulate themselves within the dreaming. The lucid dreamer needs to acknowledge that their “control” seems limited to directing their focus, rather they direct their focus within the larger dreaming around them. When unaware of these points, a lucid dreamer stumbles into the philosophical perspective of the lucid solipsist - one who believes that his waking self in the dream is the only reality. Don Juan cautioned Castaneda that the presumption of control could become a major stumbling block along the path. Since the ego finds security in the feeling of control, it usually occupies those areas deemed under its control. Like the sailors on the sea or lucid dreamers in the dream, we can only direct our focus within that environment. The ego is an entity that builds itself at an unconscious level throughout life through the acquisition of knowledge, beliefs, habits and experiences. The ego is an illusion that tries to project and maintain the idea of separation. If we feel separate from the Source then we will project this illusion of separation into our entire life experience. Welcome to the Dream realm. Sweet dreams.

Facing Our Limitations: Using Lucidity to Escape and to avoid Personal Growth Based on the book Journey to Ixtlan: The Lessons of Don Juan by Carlos Castaneda Lucid Dreaming - Gateway to the inner Self by Robert Waggoner. Some observers raise a concern about dreamers using lucid awareness to escape or avoid a dream's message and, thus, the opportunity for personal growth the dream might otherwise provide. In some cases, this is true, since in a lucid dream we have the ability to choose, and some dreamers do, indeed, choose to escape into an adventure. For example, a lucid dreamer may decide to ignore an angry dream figure and fly away instead, thereby avoiding the issue represented by the figure. More experienced lucid dreamers, however, would stop and engage the dream figure to find out more about the situation. By taking a direct approach in a dream, you will be able to transform fear into something benign, even lovable and quite possibly resolve an emotional issue at the subconscious level. Like all dreamers, if we purposely ignore a dream message, it likely returns in another dream or some other form. All dreamers come to know that in the final analysis, lucid or not, there is no escape from the Self. Welcome to the Dream realm. Sweet dreams.

Mindfulness Based on the book Journey to Ixtlan: The Lessons of Don Juan by Carlos Castaneda Lucid Dreaming - Gateway to the inner Self by Robert Waggoner. In the lucid dream state, the senses show themselves as the confirmers of expectation - not infallible guides to sensory response -and experience is largely infused with mental expectation about the experience. Just as in studies on hypnosis and pain reduction, the senses somehow bend to the intent of hypnotic suggestion. In almost every dream, the senses don't inform us of the difference between waking and dreaming; they actually confirm that whatever reality seems to be happening is indeed happening. Only by increasing our conscious awareness in the dream state can we ever realise the nature of the reality we experience. Meditation is what the lucid dreamer seeks to develop. When you learn to meditate, you learn a sense of balance when you turn inward. This takes practise and patience, and poise. Welcome to the Dream realm. Sweet dreams.

*Trigger Warning - Suicidal thoughts and childhood abuse are briefly referred to in this episode* You've flown, you've travelled, you've had all the sex you can imagine in your lucid dreams. What now? Dr Nigel Hamilton joins us aboard the Dream Boat again, to talk about the experiments he and Robert Waggoner (heard in Season 1, Episode 1) have been asking lucid dreamers to do in their sleep.  Starting from his observations as a therapist and dream worker that movements in dreams corresponded to changes in the psyche, Dr Hamilton tells Dave and Laura how the research has progressed to the current phase of asking experienced lucid dreamers to ask a series of questions when they are in a lucid dream, and he shares some of the remarkable experiences that followed.  Along the way, they ask: If you are “in control” when you are lucid dreaming, who or what is answering your questions? Dr. Hamilton is co-Founder of the Dream Boat's sponsor, the DRI centre for dream studies, and he is the founder of the world-famous transpersonal psychotherapy training college, CCPE, in London.  Your dreams are fascinating, too. A world-leading expert on lucid dreaming joins the Dream Boat crew to talk about lucid dreaming. One of the world's top lucid dreamers, Robert Waggoner, joins Dave and Laura on board this week for a fascinating journey into the often called “rare” dream state of lucid dreaming, popularised by the Leonardo DiCaprio 2010 cult film Inception. But as Robert will show, it's not that rare for some people and you can try it too. For the Dream of the Week, Robert also shares a his lucid dream in which his mother-in-law returns from the land of the dead with an important message for him. Key Topics/Takeaways: Robert's introduction to lucid dreaming as a child [1:50] Why lucid dreaming isn't just for entertainment [6:23] The awareness behind the dream [13:05] Dreams as a communication pathway with your unborn child [19:25] Surrendering to lucid dreams [23:47] How Robert's view of the world has changed since lucid dreaming [28:42] Manifesting physical healing in dreams [31:28] Preparing yourself for lucid dreaming [37:01] Speaking to your unconscious mind [39:33] Manifesting your desires with neutral beliefs [43:59]   About Robert Waggoner: Robert Waggoner wrote the acclaimed book, Lucid Dreaming – Gateway to the Inner Self, and co-authored Lucid Dreaming Plain and Simple with Caroline McCready.A past President of the International Association for the Study of Dreams (IASD), Waggoner serves as co-editor of the online magazine, The Lucid Dreaming Experience, the only ongoing publication devoted specifically to lucid dreaming. While none of us wished we had to live through the pandemic, it did bring about one good thing: an increased awareness of dreams. Because more people were remembering their dreams, they became not only interested in what they meant but also developed a curiosity into where their dreams could take them. This created a heightened appreciation for lucid dreaming. Simply put, a lucid dream is one in which a person realizes they are dreaming while in the dream state. This enables someone to do things in a dream that might seem impossible, like flying or walking through walls or traveling to Jupiter and back. But there's more to it than that and we discuss all aspects of lucid dreaming with educator and author Robert Waggoner who reveals:•The one thing that people think lucid dreamers can do but can't•The rules behind staying lucid in a dream•Effective questions to ask in a lucid dream•What happens when you step out of your comfort zone in a lucid dream•The benefits to your body from lucid dreaming•What helps you become lucid while dreaming•The latest research on lucid dreamingWhether you're an experienced lucid dreamer or just wanting to learn more about it, you won't want to miss this eye-opening episode of Dream Power Radio. His books have been translated into other languages such as French, German, Chinese, Korean, Czech and Finnish. A lucid dreamer since 1975, he created a simple technique to become consciously aware within the dream. In this delightful interview you'll get a taste for why Robert Waggoner is one of the leading voices of lucid dreaming in the West. For over forty years Robert has logged over 1000 lucid dreams, and the stories he shares are just amazing. This interview reveals the spirit of proper sharing, and why our discussion forum is integral to Night Club. Robert fearlessly and generously talks about dream events that “cracked open my world,” and led him to deep psycho-spiritual growth. So much of what he shares is resonant with Buddhist dream and sleep yoga – which is noteworthy because he was not a Buddhist when he had these powerful experiences. Robert aspires to use lucid dreaming “to go beyond lucid dreaming, to discover the nature of reality.” The cast of characters he runs into in his dreams, and then in real life, will send a chill up your spine. This interview was so rich, and so long, that we're offering it in two parts to allow you to savor the depth of the material covered. I think you'll be as impressed as I was at the profundity, humility, and integrity of this wise and gentle man. Join us for Part One, where we talk about fear, sleep yoga, zones of learning, dreams of premonition, going to the energy in your dreams, and even a dose of bardo yoga when Robert shares that in order to go deeper, “I had to agree to cease to be.”

In Part Two of my conversation with Robert Waggoner we discuss his “go-to” methods for inducing lucidity, which in addition to the wake-and-back-to-bed method is largely about creating a lucid mindset. Robert shares his advice for how to work with discouragement, and suggests being “playfully persistent,” relating to the entire lucidity project as a game. In other words, lighten up, relax and have fun -- “Loosen up dude.” Take a break. We talk about the importance of honoring and valuing our non-lucid dreams and their symbolism, the relationship of lucid dreaming to hypnosis, and then how to work with fear – which can subliminally derail our lucid dreams. The conversation then turns to how lucid dreaming can be used for healing, with some remarkable stories that support this claim. Robert is that rare being who has dedicated his life to lucid dreaming, and his passion for this topic is contagious.

Lucid Dreaming: Gateway to the Inner Self is the account of an extraordinarily talented lucid dreamer who goes beyond the boundaries of both psychology and religion. In the process, he stumbles upon the Inner SelfWhile lucid (consciously aware) in the dream state and able to act and interact with dream figures, objects, and settings, dream expert Robert Waggoner experienced something transformative and unexpected. He was able to interact consciously with the dream observer -- the apparent Inner Self -- within the dream. At first this seemed shocking, even impossible, since psychology normally alludes to such theoretical inner aspects as the Subliminal Self, the Center, the Internal self-helper in vague and theoretical ways.Waggoner came to realize, however, that aware interaction with the Inner Self was not only possible, but actual and highly inspiring. He concluded that while aware in the dream state, one has both a psychological tool and a platform from which to understand dreaming and the larger picture of man's psyche as well.Waggoner proposes 5 stages of lucid dreaming and guides readers through them, offering advice for those who have never experienced the lucid dream state and suggestions for how experienced lucid dreamers can advance to a new level. Lucid Dreaming offers exciting insights and vivid illustrations that will intrigue not only avid dreamworkers but anyone who is interested in consciousness, identity, and the definition of reality.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/houseofmysteryradio. In an extract from his journal, lucid dreamer Robert Waggoner writes: ‘At this point, I truly become overwhelmed by the beauty and love in this lucid dream. I stand up and everyone looks my way. I say, ‘When I awake in physical reality as Robert Waggoner born on January 28 in Kansas, sometimes the snow and cold of physical reality can get me down. But when I am here in this reality' — my voice starts to get emotional — ‘ I am overwhelmed by the Enormous Beauty of this World.'” Most of us can relate to the idea of the snow and cold of physical reality getting us down. The Yoga Sutras tell us that there are 7 ways to attain union. One way is dream yoga, contemplating the knowledge derived from nocturnal dreams. In "Lucid Dreaming: Plain and Simple", Robert Waggoner tells us many methods to attain a higher level of consciousness in dreams, what to do when you do become aware in dreams, and how dreams might be a spiritual path. In this episode, Kurt tells the successes he has had so far in attempting to meditate in dreams, including some of the pitfalls and ways to overcome them - using the phrase “Greater clarity now!” to make a dream clearer, not being too forceful or too sudden, being aware of your emotions, and deciding to begin your task in the dream regardless of where you are. In this delightful interview you'll get a taste for why Robert Waggoner is one of the leading voices of lucid dreaming in the West. For over forty years Robert has logged over 1000 lucid dreams, and the stories he shares are just amazing. This interview reveals the spirit of proper sharing, and why our discussion forum is integral to Night Club.Robert fearlessly and generously talks about dream events that “cracked open my world,” and led him to deep psycho-spiritual growth. We talk about fear, sleep yoga, zones of learning, dreams of premonition, going to the energy in your dreams, and even a dose of bardo yoga when Robert shares that in order to go deeper, “I had to agree to cease to be.”My conversation with Robert Waggoner continues as we discuss his “go-to” methods for inducing lucidity, which in addition to the wake-and-back-to-bed method is largely about creating a lucid mindset. Robert shares his advice for how to work with discouragement, and suggests being “playfully persistent,” relating to the entire lucidity project as a game. In other words, lighten up, relax and have fun — “Loosen up dude.” Take a break.

Robert Waggoner talked about the Power of Lucid Dreaming and the steps required in order to achieve a higher state of awareness while in a dream state. What is Lucid Dreaming? In simplest terms, a lucid dream occurs when a dreamer becomes aware that they are dreaming. It normally happens when we notice the unique quirks of our dream worlds— so called dreamsigns. Such dreams occur infrequently for most people, although a select few experience them regularly and without practice. For the rest of us, it is possible to learn our dreamsigns, though it requires that we always be questioning reality.More Information to come This episode is sponsored by Remee. The Remee Lucid Dream Mask. On today's show we are talking about Lucid Dreaming.
