Er það þegar að gerast hér á landi og ættu t.d. vinnustaðir að tileinka sér chatGPT nú þegar og þjálfa starfsfólk sitt í að nota þessa tækni? Og hversu víða nýtist þessi tækni? Maggie LePique and Charlie Pignone discuss Platinum which celebrates the 70th Anniversary of Frank Sinatra signing to Capitol Records, a moment that transformed his career and solidified his standing as one of the greatest interpretive singers of all time. From 1953 – 1962, Sinatra recorded more than three hundred songs for Capitol, the majority of them included on the landmark ‘concept' albums Sinatra pioneered. It is arguably the finest body of recorded work in popular music. The 44-track set features a cross-section of his most beloved songs and sought-after rarities. From the swinging “I've Got You Under My Skin” and ebullient “Come Fly With Me” to the breathtaking “Moonlight in Vermont” and torch song “Only The Lonely,” the set also includes previously unreleased tracks culled from the Capitol vaults along with alternate takes, a test track, radio spots and session takes that reveal Sinatra's in-studio artistry.Platinum was curated by Charles Pignone, President of Frank Sinatra Enterprises.Throughout his seven-decade career, Frank Sinatra performed on over 1,400 recordings and was awarded 31 gold, nine platinum, three double platinum, and one triple platinum album by the Recording Industry Association of America. The three-time Oscar® winner also appeared in over 60 films and produced eight motion pictures. Sinatra was awarded Lifetime Achievement Awards from The Recording Academy, The Screen Actors Guild, and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), as well as the Kennedy Center Honors, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and the Congressional Gold Medal. Frank Sinatra demonstrated a remarkable ability to appeal to every generation that continues; his artistry still influences many of today's music superstars. He remains a legend and an inspiration worldwide for his cultural and artistic contributions. Setting The Standard: Stories From The Great American Songbook
“You're the Top”, “I've Got You Under My Skin”, “Love for Sale”. These are the songs you have been singing your whole life, and now is your chance to learn about who wrote them! In this week's episode, you'll fall freely in love with Cole Porter, the master of melody and lyrics who changed the soundscape and language of American music - and America itself. Writing songs for over 30 stage and film musicals, his best work set standards of sophistication and wit seldom matched in the popular musical theater. And, as explained by pioneering songwriter Justin Tranter, Porter blazed the trail for generations of queer writers to come, pushing boundaries and challenging the status quo of the American musical form. Featuring key interviews from acclaimed writer Adam Gopnik and musical icon Elvis Costello, this episode illuminates the magic of Cole Porter.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Thriller author J.P. Choquette writes atmospheric suspense novels with themes of nature, art, and folklore. She started writing "books" when she was old enough to hold a crayon. These were held together with staples and left some painful scratches. When she's not working, you'll find her sipping a hot beverage, reading, or in the woods with her family. Today J.P. joined me to talk about the modern gothic thriller, “The Stranger Diaries,” a book that hit every one of my literary sweet spots. We talked Anglophilia, gothic literature, books that are thrilling but not scary, and the joys of letter writing. My guest in this episode is Jeff Smith, MP. A recent press article highlighted that the number of ‘career politicians' in Westminster who have never had what most of us would recognise as ‘a proper job'. It also said working class politicians were ‘an endangered species. I'm delighted to say that Jeff bucks both of those trends. Whilst Jeff grew up in a political household and studied Politics at Manchester University being an MP was never in the plan, as can be seen by his subsequent career choice. After graduation he became the Entertainments Officer for Manchester Students Union which led on to a career as an event manager and DJ. He performed regularly at V Festival and numerous club nights including Poptastic in Manchester and Star in Leeds. He had lived almost all his life in Manchester and in 1997 he started to combine his DJ work with being a member of Manchester City Council. This eventually led in 2015 to an unexpected opportunity to become the MP for his ‘home seat' of Withington in Manchester and he successfully regained the seat for Labour (from the Liberal Democrats). Last December, he was appointed as Shadow Minister for Sport, Tourism, Heritage and Music, a role for which he is clearly uniquely qualified. Jeff's musical tastes and choices are as interesting as his CV. Like me he is a Springsteen devotee, and he gets a special Music Talks Award for choosing my favourite ever song – Thunder Road . His song choices are:60's All My Loving The Beatles 70's Thunder Road Bruce Springsteen 80's What Difference Does It Make? Societies around the world are getting older; a combination of people living longer and having fewer children. The 85+ population is now the fastest growing demographic on the planet. The causes and, more importantly the impacts of living longer are significant, both for society and as individuals. This is what we discuss in this episode with Bradley Shurman, a demographic futurist, who has authored the recently published book The Super Age: Decoding our Demographic Destiny (https://amzn.to/3tYus39). Bradley shines a light on the crucial topic of ageing. He reveals the shocking truth about the impact of wealth on our longevity. And he shares his two surprising tips on how to live a long and meaningful life. As always, we round up our episode with our Grooving Session where Kurt and Tim dwell on some of the take-aways from the conversation with Bradley. If you are a regular listener to Behavioral Grooves, please consider donating to our work through Patreon https://www.patreon.com/behavioralgrooves. We also love reading your reviews on the podcast. Hola and welcome. I think the title says it all. I had to apparently take a two week hiatus and am just now getting to putting the finishing touches on this episode. So, I had a baby. Not me, perse, but my girlfriend. We had a whole baby and, as a dad to a newborn, I think I should be allowed to speak on it. Who the hell am I kidding?! This episode is very near and dear to my heart. I get to talk about one of the craziest experiences of my life. I get to tell the false labor story...then the actual labor story..and it all comes out as the ramblings of a madman, so what's not to love? I open some pretty deep doors to the old soul with this one. I had to feel this one. I had to have pictures of all my kids and my newborn daughter in the room for this one. We are talking about something I never figured would happen. You know what, just listen. Hear a first time dad talk about all the first time shit that a first time dad went through for..the first time. Oh, and I've Got You Under My Skin by Frank is the song I used to always sing to my baby girl while she was in her momma's belly. Enjoy.

After last week's radio show featuring The Great American singer & record producer, Steve Tyrell, we received an overwhelming response on all of our social media platforms! Telling us how they loved Mr. Tyrell's singing of The Great American Song Book catalog, and also that of Rod Stewart's Grammy winning album entitled ‘Stardust', which was a Steve Tyrell production. That inspired us here at Music Radio 77WABC to do more…so this Saturday night with artists such as The Great Tony Bennett, Lady Gaga, Bette Midler, Bobby Darin, and even Dion and The Belmonts, singing “Where Or When” and Frank Valle and the Four Seasons singing “I've Got You Under My Skin”…. both within the pages of The Great American Song Book.
While America's Got Talent (AGT): Season 16 is on its Summer Olympics hiatus, the Jake's Take AGT Season 16 special podcast series continues! This week, I welcomed singer, musician, and actor Storm Large to the podcast.Storm has spent her entire career performing. She spent the 1990s singing in clubs throughout the San Francisco area. Eventually, she moved to Portland to pursue a career as a chef, but in 2002, a last-minute cancellation at Dante's changed her career. That last-minute cancellation turned into a Wednesday night engagement where Storm and her band, the Balls, entertained countless audiences. In 2006, Storm rose to national prominence when she competed on the CBS music competition Rock Star: Supernova. Despite being eliminated one week before the finale, Storm gained an international fan base. She had the opportunity to perform at iconic venues such as the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts and Carnegie Hall. Also, Storm sang with a diverse group of recording artists such as k.d. Lang, Rufus Wainwright, Pink Martini, and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer George Clinton. Recently, Storm Large auditioned for America's Got Talent: Season 16. Her remarkable rendition of the classic song “I've Got You Under My Skin” received four “Yeses” from judges Simon Cowell, Sofia Vergara, Howie Mandel, and Heidi Klum. Also, her performance has been viewed on the show's official YouTube channel over 3.1 million times. In this edition of Jake's Take's AGT Season 16 Special, Storm Large revisited her audition and talked about how her experience on Rock Star: Supernova prepared for the NBC talent competition.
https://notesonfilm1.com/2021/06/16/hou-hsiao-hsien-17-contexts-8-the-rice-dumpling-vendors-hsin-chi-1969/ A discussion of Hsin Chi's THE RICE DUMPLING VENDORS, a rare male melodrama. The protagonist kicks his wife out of the house for perceived infidelity; as soon as he does the whole family falls apart and is plunged in a spiral of poverty, the father at one point abandoning his baby even as his two minor children take on jobs in order to buy milk. The film documents a society on the cusp of modernity and suffering the effects of the social and economic effects produced by it. Stylistically, the film is highly skilled and gorgeous to look at. Character's thoughts are offered in voice-over or through song. There is a mix of genres: noir/action/family-melodrama/documentary. It's a cinephile's film, with references to PSYCHO and other films. The music borrows from CINDERELLA as well as then current pop-hits as Sinatra's version of 'I've Got You Under My Skin'. We also discuss the extent to which this film is an influence on Hou Hsiao-hsien's THE SANDWICH MAN. The more Hsin Chi films we see, the more we like and value them.
“Cagey little brutes, aren’t they?” The Mother of Angel Studies, author and vampire queen Stacey Abbott is back! This week we discuss the somewhat strained metaphor and textual subtext of episode 113, “She,” which for years I’ve remembered as unutterably terrible, but on this rewatch I find myself being a bit kinder to. If nothing else, the episode gives us some of the greatest comedic moments from all of this first season, possibly the series. Alexis Denisof deserves a pratfall Oscar! Also on tap, 114, “I’ve Got You Under My Skin” makes good use of a classic Hollywood horror trope, as well as providing the first tantalizing hint at darker depths to Wesley. And 115, “The Prodigal,” where the Whedonverse continues its focused, brutal assault on the notions of fatherhood. NEXT: Post-Production Supervisor and Hollywood man-about-town Michael Holland is back to help me look over episodes 116, “The Ring” and 117, “Eternity.” BREAKDOWN 00:00:55 - Intro / Guest 00:02:40 - Main Topic 01:11:17 - Outro / Next LIBRARY Celluloid Vampires: Life After Death in the Modern World, by Stacey Abbott Reading Angel: The TV Spin-off With a Soul, edited by Stacey Abbott Angel (TV Milestones Series) by Stacey Abbott Near Dark (BFI Film Classics), by Stacey Abbott Global TV Horror, edited by Stacey Abbott and Lorna Jowett LINKS Monstrum: A Peer-Reviewed Journal of Studies in Horror MUSIC “Conversations (feat. Johny Ho is back to talk to me about how awesome it is that Wesley Wyndam-Pryce is back! In 110, “Parting Gifts,” Angel Investigations get their very own rogue demon hunter, as well as a shiny new tagline. 111, “Somnambulist” gives us Baby Hawkeye as a vampire, and Kate is finally in on the big secret. And 112, “Expecting” features the first of many mystical pregnancies, plus Ken freaking Marino! Seriously though, all that matters is Wesley Wyndam-Pryce is here and everything will be okay from now on. NEXT: the saint of Angel studies, author Stacey Abbott joins me to discuss what some may or may not consider to be the low point of Season One, episodes 113, “She,” 114, “I’ve Got You Under My Skin,” and 115, “The Prodigal.” BREAKDOWN 00:00:55 - Intro / Guest 00:06:27 - Main Topic 01:10:48 - Outro / Next MUSIC “Conversations (feat. It doesn’t take place in any particular setting but is more an expression of the themes and trends within each track. With a cast of four world-class professional dancers and one Sinatra rich singer, it explores the themes of love, lust, lies, and regret amongst many others. The album itself was originally strung together in 1956 with an idea of young love in mind and all the songs had an expression of swing to them. The cast together with the rich five-piece band paint an overarching picture to all the ebbs and flows the classic album has to offer.Featuring the hit songs, Old Devil Moon, I’ve Got You Under My Skin and You Make Me Feel So Young. "All By Myself Alone" is Mary Higgins Clark's latest book released this week by Simon & Shuster. I spoke with her when "Got You Under My Skin" was published. Please enjoy a repost of one of my interviews with this amazing author. Mary Higgins Clark's books are world-wide bestsellers. In the U.S. alone, her books have sold over 80 million copies. She is the author of twenty-four previous suspense novels. Suspense Novelist Mary Higgins Clark comes on to promote and discuss "I've Got You Under My Skin", her new novel with me. I have been sitting here in my big, comfortable, manly black leather poppa chair in my living room, cleverly disguised as a responsible adult for quite a while now. It has taken some time, but I have come to the "Been There Done That" place in my life. It's a comfortable place. A place where I can safely sit back, breathe deeply and say Huh to the great confusions that are all around us. I just saw a commercial that rates a big Huh. It's a super on the screen that says the people in this commercial are real people not actors. As some of you know I have done more than my share of voiceovers for TV commercials. People who do TV voiceovers are called voice actors. So I am an actor, but the IRS seems to feel that I am never the less a real person, who better send them the appropriate tax on what I have been paid as an actor. That doesn't affect very many people, so that just gets a single breath Huh? I have just read a book written by a very well known smart guy doctor. It gets a three breath Huh? The essential premise of the book is that we are all just walking, talking, sacks of chemicals and electrical connections. Sorry doctor. That gets a great big three breath HUH. I have held a newborn baby in my arms, and I have watched my beautiful , sexy Lady Wonder Wench walk up a flight of stairs in tight jeans, and I have heard John Lennon sing Imagine there's no heaven. And along with a half million other New Yorkers, on a late Summer night in Central Park what seems like a lifetime ago, I have heard the New York Philharmonic doing Beethoven's Fifth. And Sinatra singing Nelson Riddle's arrangement of I've Got You Under My Skin. Just a sack of chemicals and sparks? Huh! I don't think so
Warren starts by clicking on a testicular cancer mascot this week, and this makes us wonder whether Senhor Testiculo has a prominent mole, or whether it's just an ear, or his balls (do balls have balls?), or his arms. Or maybe just a gaping wound where he was severed from the rest of the body? As promised, here's a link so you can judge for yourself: http://www.limitedappeal.net/extras/photos.html Then, in Urban Legend, Warren explains the origin of the word butterfly: in middle Dutch-land and Germany, the locals noticed that their local butterflies excreted a substance that probably looked and tasted like butter, at least according to the history books. Hence, the butterfly! Try it on some toast, if you have a magic box in your house that can perform the complicated steps needed for preparing some. Let us know what your local insect frass tastes like via email (maskedman@limitedappeal.net). Theme music courtesy of General Patton vs. The X-Ecutioners and Ipecac Recordings.
