There is nothing like the scent of a good wine, a beautiful flower, the coming of spring, fresh baked cookies or a touch of perfume. The sense of smell, called olfaction, involves the detection and perception of chemicals floating in the air. The olfactory tract transmits these signals to the brain, particularly the limbic system. The limbic system is involved with emotional behavior and memory which is why when you smell something, it often brings back memories associated with the object. The connection between smell and memory happens almost immediately for us.  Baby's recognize the smell of their mother. No two people have the exact same odor-identity or “smell fingerprint” which is determined by many factors including: our genes, skin type, diet, medicine, mood state and even the weather. There is nothing like the scent of a good wine, a beautiful flower, the coming of spring, fresh baked cookies or a touch of perfume. The sense of smell, called olfaction, involves the detection and perception of chemicals floating in the air. The olfactory tract transmits these signals to the brain, particularly the limbic system. The limbic system is involved with emotional behavior and memory which is why when you smell something, it often brings back memories associated with the object. The connection between smell and memory happens almost immediately for us.  Baby's recognize the smell of their mother. No two people have the exact same odor-identity or “smell fingerprint” which is determined by many factors including: our genes, skin type, diet, medicine, mood state and even the weather. Stacy and I walk through what is a detox and how it can help prepare our bodies for positive change.  While Cleansing can be done for short periods of time, Detoxing is more of a subtle, consistent act over long periods of time. Simply adding citrus oils on to ice in our glass of water (no plastic cups) can gently clean off our cells that get bombarded with cell or endocrine disruptors. Diffusing citrus oils each day can also help detox our cells.  Diffuse Citrus Fresh, Orange, Lemon, Tangerine, Lime or Bergamot for the d-limonene within the citrus oils.Detox baths each week are a great way to gently detox.  A cup of Epsom Salts and food grade Bentonite Clay along with a few drops of Lavender, Tea Tree, Frankincense, Myrrh or Copaiba work to help remove waste from the body.  Choose your favorite one and use it a couple of times each week.Foot detoxes are great too!
