GoldandBlack.com's Brian Neubert discusses Purdue's win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi
The College Basketball Experience (@TCEonSGPN) of the Sports Gambling Podcast Network releases their Southland Conference College Basketball Preview for the 2024-25 season.. On the show Ryan McIntyre (@Moneyline_Mac) and Noah Bieniek (@NoahB77_) break down every single Southland basketball team and key in on how they think the conference race will shake out. Last year McNeese State swept the Southland Conference titles. The Cowboys lose their best player from that team, Shahada Wells, and got even better. The question is not will the Pokes win the league as much as it is 'how many losses will they have?' McNeese's best threat is Stephen F. Austin the - somewhat - newcomer to the Southland. The Lumberjacks carry a lot of program pedigree and have a roster poised to be a serious player in the league. Texas A&M Corpus Christi has established itself very well in the Southland Basketball conference over the last handful of years. How easy to trust are the Islanders this season? Happy Birthday to Southeast Louisiana's David Kiefer! Can Kiefer lead the Lions to a top 5 conference finish once again? Mac and Bieniek finish the Southland Conference College Basketball Preview with some takes. What are their projected standings at the end of the year? The guys also provide their Southland Basketball sleepers and bust predictions. Matthew was raised in Round Rock, Texas where he loved playing sports and competing in anything imaginable with his younger brother. It was around the age of 13 that Matt saw his single mother start to invest in real estate and he was immediately drawn to the industry. At the age of 17 Matt became a licensed realtor and worked through college at Texas A&M Corpus Christi. He earned his degree but his mind was made up that real estate was the path for him. He went on to earn a Masters of Real Estate from Texas A&M in College Station and started a career in commercial real estate. In 2015, alongside his wife Lexi, Matt started TRE Homes Property Management and three short years later he left commercial real estate to grow his company full-time. In 2020, he merged his property management company with another industry leader. He then doubled down on growing his brokerage, Teifke Real Estate. He brought on a long-time friend as a Partner, Alex Coffman. At the age of 17, he became a licensed realtor and worked through college at Texas A&M Corpus Christi. He earned his degree but made up his mind that real estate was the path for him. He went on to earn a Masters of Real Estate from Texas A&M in College Station and started a career in commercial real estate. Alex Coffman has been passionate about real estate since his earliest years of growing up in Round Rock. He has always been an entrepreneur and worked for himself since the early age of 13. Alex first dove into real estate by managing administrative and maintenance tasks at a property management company in Corpus Christi. He later moved back to Austin, where he started two businesses in the recovery industry. Alex started to invest with Matt and grew their real estate partnership with over 30 units under contract and closed in their first couple of years together. In May of 2020, Alex officially became a partner at Teifke Real Estate, where he currently oversees the brokerage operations and the different branches of the company. In this episode, Captain Chris sits down with Dr. David McKee. Dr. McKee is a retired fisheries professor at Texas A&M Corpus Christi and he shares a mountain of historical information and Angling stories from the Texas Bays. From his early run in with the now infamous Gary Loomis to a world class collection of angling gear (rods/reels/lures) that fueled the fishing lure industry to its present day, Dr. McKee is a Texas Angling treasure and in this podcast he shares many of those experiences. This was a fun one to record and we hope you enjoy!
This episode is a personal favorite as I sit down with a hometown from my childhood, Chase Williams (3:30)!Within the confines of where I grew up, Chase is a little league legend (14:00) and creator of one of the town's most iconic sports images from the Texas 5A Football State Playoffs (28:40). His local success led to All-Southland Conference honors at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and his current career as a high school football coach. However, it was not all glorious as he also withstood, at a young age, the confusing arena of locker room politics (36:00) as well as experiencing racism within the high school and college sports world (57:15). We chat about how these experiences informed his sports career and how it's impacted his current role of coaching young men in today's world. Thank you for listening and follow us on our NEW Twitter handle, @TSYSMPodcast!Enjoy!

There were two summers where I really went from the person that never saw themselves as a runner, turn into a runner. Anytime I would go into a long run (10+ miles), I would think to myself “how would Jacob Abrego” tackle these long runs and I was able to get him to sit down for this week's Keoni Chats and pick his brain about running. Jacob and I worked at Nike Portland for two years and he was known as “Mr.Nike Running.” He ran cross country at Texas A&M Corpus Christi college and with that experience it made him the most qualified to help people, of all stages, find the same enjoyment in running that he possesses. Members of the community came together on Saturday afternoon to celebrate Black History Month. The celebration began in 1970 but has its beginning in the 1920s. The Alice celebration focused on celebrating the history of African American people through music, speeches and education exhibits featured throughout the venue.Music was a prominent feature for the day, with many choirs and soloists performing. The AHS choir performed the unofficial Negro National Anthem, Lift Every Voice and Sing. The Texas A&M Jazz Band was on hand to perform, as well as saxophonist Daryl Eason. Dinah Taylor also sang a selection of songs by Whitney Houston. The keynote speaker was Liza Wisner, a Kenyan born American who has attained much success after coming to the states in 1999 on a golf scholarship from Texas A&M Corpus Christi. Wisner was also a top three finalist on The Apprentice, the television program formerly helmed by President Donald Trump. Wisner gave an inspiring speech about the power of people and how one person can provide their family with “generational wealth”.“Tomorrow is not promised, all you have is today,” said Wisner. “The time is now, the opportunities are now.”She also encouraged those in attendance to never remain neutral in the face of conflict. Wisner discussed her great grandmother, who had been a Kenyan freedom fighter.“When you remain neutral, you’re actually on the side of the oppressor,” said Wisner.Dinner followed the day’s events.

Thanks to our Sponsor Tommy Delong and College Promoters USA for joining us for a sitdown interview. Tommy DeLong was born and raised in the Houston area, and after spending nearly a decade in San Antonio at the College Promoters USA corporate office, he has recently relocated back to Houston to oversee the area full time. After going through the recruiting process in high school and earning a few opportunities to play at the college level, Tommy decided to forgo playing in college and pursue his education at a Division 1 university. He earned a Bachelor's in Kinesiology & Sports Management from Texas A&M Corpus-Christi while being named to the National Dean's List multiple times. He is a big supporter of the Islanders athletic program to this day!In addition, Tommy is also a big sports enthusiast and a "former" athlete in his younger days. He primarily played football and basketball at the high school level.
