Week 2 had some crazy moments and upsets. Texas rolls Michigan, Bowling Green gives Happy Valley a scare, and the Huskies of NIU show out in front of Touchdown Jesus. Let's recap another week of College Football! Play It!
Hour 1: Poni's continuing to get attacked for his Brandon Aiyuk report, but is it justified? Poni is getting a lot of podcast interview requests recently. And Ray Fittipaldo joins the show to give a Brandon Aiyuk and Steelers camp update.
"Which version of this Jesus should I follow? Because while we can say that we ought to imitate Jesus, there is a wide spectrum of what our world believes Jesus to be. A few weeks ago, when we started this series, I shared a host of different versions of Jesus in a somewhat humorous way. We live in a culture where there is a wide spectrum of different Jesus'. I mentioned Republican and Democrat Jesus. Therapist Jesus and Starbucks Jesus. Open-minded Jesus. Touchdown Jesus. Martyr Jesus. Gentle Jesus. Hippie Jesus. Yuppie Jesus. Spirituality Jesus. And Platitude Jesus. And Revolutionary Jesus. Guru Jesus and Boyfriend Jesus. Good Example Jesus. And … I got a text from a few of you afterward to point out that I'd skipped past Ricky Bobby's 8 lbs. 6-ounce newborn baby Jesus, right? Whether you understand what each of those Jesus represents or not, we can recognize that there are lots of versions of Jesus, lots of ways that he has been manipulated. So, when we say that you ought to imitate Jesus, what are we actually talking about? What does that actually look like? Which version of him are we going to follow? Because the reality is that it's easy to get it wrong. It's easier to get it wrong than it is to get it right."
Before we get into sports, Mike is NOT happy that Jess continues to bake with fruit, but they can both agree that taste palettes change with age. Jess comes for Chipotle arguing that they are no longer the gourmet king of quick food. Sam Hartman is the new Joe Burrow, according to TikTok. Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce continue to take over the NFL. Jess finds it hilarious that people are mad that the NFL is capitalizing on the relationship, while Mike is here for it because it's bringing new fans to the sport that weren't spectators before the “Traylor”, “Tayvis”, “Swelce” era…whatever you want to call it. The two debate who are the best and worst teams in the NFL. It's not looking good for Justin Fields and the Bears. Who's to blame for the Chargers struggles? The Eagles and 49ers are both on top and New York sports are terrible (except the NY Liberty). Golic & Smetty recap the Notre Dame game against Duke. Golic gives Duke and Head Coach Mike Elko their flowers for the fantastic job he's been doing with his team. Mike and Jess break down the 4th quarter targeting call against Jordan Botelho and discuss Notre Dame's upcoming schedule where they play 4 undefeated, ranked teams all at night. Yikes. The duo rounds out today's episode discussing the WNBA finals between the NY Liberty and the LV Aces, and the excitement to watch the Breanna Stewart and A'ja Wilson match-up. The latest episode of Land-Grant Holy Land's flagship podcast is here! Join LGHL's Josh Dooley and Chuck Holmes as they discuss Ohio State football, recruiting, and much, much more! Come for the hot takes, stay for the warm ones. On this episode of “Hangout in the Holy Land,” Josh and Chuck prove their toughness and grit in discussing Ohio State's thrilling, blue-collar victory at Notre Dame. It wasn't always pretty, but the Buckeyes found a way to get it done in a hostile road environment... Despite a few head-scratching calls and short yardage troubles that continue to (apparently) put Ryan Day's brain in a pretzel. Will OSU ever figure out the ‘easy' stuff, or is this just sort of what their fans need to come to grips with? Puzzling strategy and occasional stubbornness aside, how about the Scarlet and Gray finding a way!? The guys give credit to Jim Knowles for a smart gameplan, as well as Kyle McCord for having the fortitude, gumption, and moxie to make big throws in big moments. And finally, while there were no titles on the line in South Bend, this victory felt like an all-timer for Buckeye Nation. As did the WWE-ish promo delivered by Day as he walked off the field. The hosts are hopeful that this win in the presence of Touchdown Jesus gives Ohio State plenty of confidence moving forward. Please make sure to like, rate, review, and subscribe to the podcast! SOUTH BEND — There's a special energy on and around Notre Dame's campus the week of a big game. This week is no exception as the ninth-ranked Irish prepare to host No. 6 Ohio State at Notre Dame Stadium Saturday. Kickoff on NBC is set 7:30 p.m. But before the game, and before ESPN's College GameDay crew sets up residency with Touchdown Jesus as its backdrop, South Bend Tribune ND beat writer Mike Berardino and columnist Tom Noie break down the Irish chances at a signature victory that would propel them into the College Football Playoff conversation. They are joined this week by former Notre Dame quarterback Malik Zaire, who says this is a "can't miss" opportunity and a chance to "change the narrative" moving forward.
Pastor and author, Kevin DeYoung wrote these words analyzing the question: Who is Jesus? "The greatness of God is most clearly displayed in his Son. And the glory of the gospel is only made evident in his Son. That's why Jesus' question to his disciples [in Matthew 16] is so important: "Who do you say that I am?" The question is doubly crucial in our day, because [no one is as popular in the U.S. as Jesus]—and not every Jesus is the real Jesus. … There's the Republican Jesus—who is against tax increases and activist judges, for family values and owning firearms. There's Democrat Jesus—who is against Wall Street and Wal-Mart, for reducing our carbon footprint and printing money. There's Therapist Jesus—who helps us cope with life's problems, heals our past, tells us how valuable we are and not to be so hard on ourselves. There's Starbucks Jesus—who drinks fair trade coffee, loves spiritual conversations, drives a hybrid, and goes to film festivals. There's Open-minded Jesus—who loves everyone all the time no matter what (except for people who are not as open-minded as you). There's Touchdown Jesus—who helps athletes fun faster and jump higher than non-Christians and determines the outcomes of Super Bowls. There's Martyr Jesus—a good man who died a cruel death so we can feel sorry for him. There's Gentle Jesus—who was meek and mild, with high cheek bones, flowing hair, and walks around barefoot, wearing a sash (while looking very German). There's Hippie Jesus—who teaches everyone to give peace a chance, imagines a world without religion, and helps us remember that "all you need is love." There's Yuppie Jesus—who encourages us to reach our full potential, reach for the stars, and buy a boat. There's Spirituality Jesus—who hates religion, churches, pastors, priests, and doctrine, and would rather have people out in nature, finding "the god within" while listening to ambiguously spiritual music. There's Platitude Jesus—good for Christmas specials, greeting cards, and bad sermons, inspiring people to believe in themselves. There's Revolutionary Jesus—who teaches us to rebel against the status quo, stick it to the man, and blame things on "the system." There's Guru Jesus—a wise, inspirational teacher who believes in you and helps you find your center. There's Boyfriend Jesus—who wraps his arms around us as we sing about his intoxicating love in our secret place. There's Good Example Jesus—who shows you how to help people, change the planet, and become a better you. And then there's Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God. Not just another prophet. Not just another Rabbi. Not just another wonder-worker. He was the one they had been waiting for: the Son of David and Abraham's chosen seed; the one to deliver us from captivity; the goal of the Mosaic law; Yahweh in the flesh; the one to establish God's reign and rule; the one to heal the sick, give sight to the blind, freedom to the prisoners and proclaim Good News to the poor; the Lamb of God who came to take away the sins of the world. This Jesus was the Creator come to earth and the beginning of a New Creation. He embodied the covenant, fulfilled the commandments, and reversed the curse. This Jesus is the Christ that God spoke of to the Serpent; the Christ prefigured to Noah in the flood; the Christ promised to Abraham; the Christ prophesied through Balaam before the Moabites; the Christ guaranteed to Moses before he died; the Christ promised to David when he was king; the Christ revealed to Isaiah as a Suffering Servant; the Christ predicted through the Prophets and prepared for through John the Baptist. This Christ is not a reflection of the current mood or the projection of our own desires. He is our Lord and God. He is the Father's Son, Savior of the world, and substitute for our sins—more loving, more holy, and more wonderfully terrifying than we ever thought possible." ~ DeYoung How would you answer the question, "Who is Jesus?" The apostle Paul, as he opens the Colossian letter, urges his readers to "root" their lives completely in Jesus. The Christians he was writing to were facing pressure to leave behind Jesus because he wasn't enough. In response to these pressures, Paul lists out, in impressive fashion, why Jesus is worth following. This is a question we all have to answer regarding our faith; whether it's believing in Jesus for the first time or are continuing a long journey of obedience to him. Give a listen to this sermon and strive to answer these two questions: Who is Jesus? Does he deserve my complete devotion?

In this episode Val and Nathan open up with a refresher courses on the theories of faith development that have impacted their growth the most and break down a theory that is less about stages of faith and more cyclical in nature. This stage theory breaks down 1. Order 2. Disorder 3. Reorder. They give many examples in pop culture, nature, theology, and myth that illustrates that cycles of birth, death, and rebirth can be found virtually everywhere. This cycle reminds us that Jesus didn't begin the cycle of birth, death, and resurrection, but rather is one sublime manifestation of this pervasive phenomenon. Val and Nathan further talk about why we resist this cycle in our own lives, why this cycle is absolutely necessary to our growth and transformation, and how the cycles of order (birth), disorder (death/suffering), and reorder (rebirth/resurrection) can be found most significantly in our own lives as our own ideas, expectations, paradigms, and desires evolve ever upward. Books referenced in this episode: Stages of Faith by James Fowler, A Different Drum & The Road Less Traveled (3 book series) by M. Scott Peck, Faith After Doubt by Brian McLaren, Hero with a Thousand Faces by Joseph Campbell, Universal Christ by Richard Rohr, and episode 33 of Latter Day Struggles (for Valerie's Sunstone Symposium Lecture on Stages of Faith Development and Why we as a church are stuck). ************************************************* Contact Valerie at info@valeriehamaker.com to get on a waitlist for one of her space limited processing/support groups mentioned in detail in this

Clemson Family, thanks for finding us again! Today we preview this year's road game at Notre Dame, which promises to be another high-stakes showdown for two playoff contenders late in the season as the Tigers look for redemption in the shadow of Touchdown Jesus. We'll also talk about one player who won't be taking the field for Clemson this year, unfortunately, as safety Lannden Zanders retired this week; we wish him the best and discuss the potential impact his decision has on the defense. Plus we'll discuss the new coaching roles on the team in 2022, from new coordinators on offense and defense to new position coaches, off-field analysts and even some familiar names joining the program as graduate assistants. And we'll finish things off by mentioning how one of the national polls has the Clemson men's soccer team as its preseason No. 1 with games just around the corner. We hope you enjoy this episode, Tigers fans, and give us a follow or a subscribe so you won't miss out on analysis of all the biggest news around Clemson sports twice each week!

Guess who´s back!
Um zum Abschluss der Saison Coach LaFleur zu zitieren: "Next year you´ll see a better version of us." Bis dahin, go pack go und rock on!!!
Guten Rutsch, viel Spaß beim Hören und go Pack go!!!!!!!
The thing that grinds Tom's gears is female comics. Yes, that's what Tom said. Funerals = unfunny recording environment. Touchdown Jesus. Brendon makes light of the pandemic. Aaron Rodgers.

Viel Spaß beim Hören und Go Pack Go!!!!
