Sean and Colin go solo again but this time the Toyota recall is on the docket, a new Jeep that is confusing to non Jeep people, and making stylistic choices for your offroader.

With a new engine, transmission and suspension setup, the 2023 Jeep Compass is an improvement over the outgoing model. If you really, truly, honestly believe you're going off-road, the more capable Trailhawk is the one to choose. It adds skid plates, a rock mode, some extra ground clearance and improved approach, breakover and departure angles. It's more compact than competitors (positive for some, negative for others). But for taking on tough trails, Trailhawk is hard to beat in class.

Wohin das Auge des Automobilkunden auch schaut, das Zauberwort heißt „Hybrid!“ Mal mit Stecker als Plug-in-Hybrid oder ohne Stecker als „Nur-Hybrid!“ Diese Wahl hat man auch beim Jeep Compass. Wir haben ihn oh-ne Stecker als Compass e-hybrid getestet! Darum geht es diesmal!Eigentlich müsste man den Namen Jeep gar nicht auf der Karosserie verewigen, einen Jeep erkennt man auf Anhieb, egal um welche Baureihe es sich handelt. Das gilt na-türlich auch für den Jeep Compass, den wir heute näher vorstellen. Power und Drive!    Genau genommen müssen wir übrigens vom Compass e-hybrid sprechen, es gibt nämlich auch noch einen Compass 4xe Plug-in-Hybrid. An Bord unseres Testfahrzeu-ges verrichtete ein Hybrid-Antrieb mit 1,5 Liter großem Vierzylinder- Turbobenziner mit 96 kW (130 PS) und 240 Newtonmetern Drehmoment seinen Dienst. Er ist mit einem Siebengang-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe kombiniert, ideal für schaltfaule Men-schen wie mich. Der 48-Volt Mildhybrid beschleunigt in glatten 10 Sekunden auf Tempo 100 und dann munter weiter bis maximal 193 km/h. Der kombinierte Kraft-stoffverbrauch auf 100 Kilometer Fahrstrecke liegt zwischen 5,7 und 6,1 Liter, 129 bis 139 Gramm Co2 werden pro Kilometer emittiert. Alle Werte wurden im WLTP-Fahrzyklus ermittelt.  Die Hybridtechnologie des Compass beinhaltet einen 15 kW (20 PS) starken Elektromotor mit 55 Newtonmetern Drehmoment, der die Räder auch bei ausgeschaltetem Verbrennungsmotor antreibt. Am Getriebeeingang liegen übrigens 135 Newtonmeter an. Die Innenausstattung!Bei den Ausstattungen hat sich Jeep für die Begriffe Night Eagle, Limited, S und Trailhawk entschieden, wobei letztere nur beim Plug-in-Hybriden zu haben ist. Zwar hatten wir die S-Ausstattungslinie im Test, aber schon als Night Eagle ist der Jeep Compass e-hybrid gut ausgestattet, ich will mal die relevanten Punkte nennen, die natürlich nicht abschließend sind. Wichtig sind für mich die Klimaautomatik mit Pollenfilter, die ParkView® Rückfahr-kamera mit dynamischen Führungslinien und vor allem ADAS. Das ADAS enthält die intelligente Verkehrszeichenerkennung, einen intelligenten Ge-schwindigkeitsassistenten, Notbremsassistenten mit Fußgänger- und Radfahrerer-kennung und eine Müdigkeitserkennung. All das sind Funktionen, die im immer dich-teren Verkehr immer wichtiger werden. Die Kosten!Der Night Eagle ist mit 37.900,-- Euro die Einstiegsversion. Für den Limited sind 39.600,-- Euro fällig, den S schlägt mit 44.100,-- Euro zu Buche. Die Trailhawk-Ausstattung gibt es wie erwähnt nicht beim Compass e-hybrid, aber damit kann man gut leben. Head honcho Ola Källenius talked about how the COVID-19 outbreak has taken its toll on car sales before moving on to more exciting news.. After providing preliminary details regarding the Mercedes S-Class W223 debuting in September, Daimler’s CEO changed the subject to the EQS. He reiterated it will be a car developed from the ground up as an EV rather than being an electric conversion of the next-generation S-Class. Just like the concept presented in 2019, the production version will have a range of more than 435 miles (700 kilometers) thanks to batteries manufactured in-house at Daimler’s Stuttgart-Untertürkheim plant." says Motor1.com: "The Tesla Model S Long Range Plus is touted as being the first true 400-mile EV on sale in the United States courtesy of an official EPA-rated range of 402 miles (647 kilometers). It remains to be seen whether the Mercedes EQS will be able to beat that. As enthusiasm builds for more climate-friendly vehicles, shares of EV makers, including Tesla Inc (TSLA.O) and Nio Inc (NIO.N), have surged in recent months and auto makers are looking to the markets for funds." says Reuters today: "Xpeng, led by Chief Executive He Xiaopeng, is making electric G3 sport-utility vehicles (SUVs) and P7 sedans with autonomous driving capabilities in two Chinese plants. The funding will enable Xpeng to further develop intelligent vehicle technologies. The Performance carries a starting price of $59,990. If you finance through Tesla, the Model Y Long Range will cost you about $699 per month for 72 months with $4,500 down. That's at 2.49% APR. Now, you can choose to lease the Model Y through Tesla. The deal works out to $499 per month for 36 months with $4,500 due at signing. It's a 10,000-mile-per-year lease, which is common among luxury vehicle" according to InsideEVs: "Leasing is popular in the U.S., so Tesla is likely taking advantage of this as another tool to increase demand. It also means people who may not be able to afford an expensive car can fit the Model Y in their budget. Leases are very common for luxury vehicles. For example, they only pay 30 eurocent per kilowatt-hour for IONITY in Germany and can therefore use the pan-European high-power charging network at a very attractive price.   JEEP RENEGADE 4XE PLUG-IN GYBRID GOES ON SALE IN EUROPE With its most recent step into the world of electrification, the Jeep plug-in hybrid propulsion solution is capable of enhancing the legendary off-road capability of its line-up of SUVs, starting with the Renegade 4xe plug-in hybrid. The Jeep Renegade 4xe pairs a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine with an electric motor, located between the rear axle, which is powered by an 11.4 kWh battery that can be recharged while driving or through an external power outlet or charge point.
