Sandy Stockl started the girls' lacrosse program at Washington Township High School in Gloucester County in South Jersey back in 1994. She spent 31 years as the head coach until deciding to retire after the 2024 season – she will still be working at the school as a counselor. She won 300 games at the helm of the program and her coaching career came after an elite playing career, which saw her win three Division III National Championships as a goalie at TCNJ (then Trenton State College). In Episode #222 of “1-on-1 with Matt Leon,” Matt welcomes Stockl in studio to look back on her career. They discuss why this was the right time to step away, look back at what it was like to start the program back in 1994, reflect on her outstanding playing career and much more. “1-on-1 with Matt Leon” is a KYW Newsradio original podcast. Tragically, at the beginning of her second year pursuing her master's degree, she would become the victim of a brutal and violent murder. Nearly fifty years later, and her case remains unsolved. On the night of Sunday, September 4th, 1977, campus police found Sigrid's body lying in a pool of blood on the stage of Kendall Hall. It was a grisly and bloody scene and ultimately it was determined that the pianist had been beaten to death while playing, her nude body discovered just a few feet from her blood stained sheet music. While investigators believed they'd crack the case quickly, they soon discovered that there was little if any evidence to suggest who her killer may have been. Some suggested a jealous lover, others considered another musician with a vendetta. However, what little evidence there was, seemed to suggest something far more sinister -- that Sigrid may have been targeted by a member of the Campus Police Department.Sponsored by: Shopify! Johnny J. Rock Johnson and RAW 241 has been delivering talent for years One of the more underrated wrestling club coaches in the nation is past Division III All-American Johnny “J Rock” Johnson out of New Jersey. Picking up wrestling as a freshman in high school, Johnson placed three times for what was then known as Trenton State College at the NCAA Division III championships. After getting into college coaching at his alma mater under the legendary Dave Icenhower, Johnson ended up taking Brett Matter under his wing. A few years later, RAW 241 was born and a new wrestling pedigree permeated wrestlers from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware with a ferocious style of wrestling that highlighted neutral wrestling. A long line of accomplished wrestlers came through RAW 241 and we find out how that all developed, as well as some chatter about marketing, mat size, singlets and the nuances of why the anklet is pointless.
