In this episode of TSFU Interviews, Fallon chats with Erin Riley, author of "A Dark Force: 20 Years with a Covert Narcissist". They talk about recognizing narcissistic abuse and ways to process and deal with it, as well as her adventures in and around the music business"!Celebrated music maven Erin Riley looked like she had it all: a 1960s Mad Men–style upbringing on Manhattan's Upper West Side, then an escape to “find herself” in glamorous 1970s Hollywood, where she landed some of the most influential positions of the 1980s music industry. She hung out with rock stars like Keith Richards, Steven Tyler, James Taylor, and Jon Bon Jovi and chose the hit records for America's #1 rock & roll radio station, WMMR-FM. But her colorful, raucous, rock & roll life hid dark secrets. An emotionally neglected child with a generational legacy of stoicism and hiding painful truths, Erin had no real experience with love and healthy relationships. The marriage she thought would be her happily-ever-after led to 20 years of confusion, heartbreak, anger, and betrayal, all fueled by a malignant covert narcissist.Erin's honest, searing memoir recounts her self-discovery journey through a series of life's traumas and tragedies, her many bad decisions, and two toxic marriages. Her story will bring insight and guidance to survivors of narcissistic abuse and those questioning their relationships, and the hope that they, like Erin, can find a joyous rock & roll redemption." - AmazonPlease check out Erin's website! Have you ever wondered what's hidden in your garden fertilizer or how organic produce is truly grown?   Our guest today is Erin Riley, the founder and CEO of Cabbage Hill organic, animal-free fertilizers. Erin's foray into the world of gardening and urban agriculture began with Hope Gardens, a landscaping company through which she has designed, installed, and maintained hundreds of gardens across Los Angeles, including those of A-list celebrities.     Frustrated by the manipulation of organic labels, Erin set out to make a real difference. Her commitment to true organic gardening standards fueled her advocacy and led to the development of a sustainable, plant-based fertilizer. By ensuring transparency and integrity, Erin is setting a new standard in organic practices.   Join us as we explore Erin's incredible journey and insights, and learn how you can make more informed choices to protect yourself as a consumer while supporting a healthier planet.   “You might be shocked to learn that most organic fertilizers contain byproducts from industrial animal ag, including bone meal, blood meal, feather meal, bird or bat excrement, and manure. I always say, let's get the crap out of gardening. You know, there's a lot of BS here, literally and figuratively, and we need to start advocating for organic and just turning the page a little bit for true organic, not organic because it's made from life, dead, dead animals, but organic standards that don't have chemicals and antibiotics and pesticides in them.” - Erin Riley   What we discuss in this episode: - What fertilizer is, how it works, and why it's crucial for new, high-yield, and edible gardens. - Benefits of using organic vegan fertilizer. - Horrifying ingredients found in some “organic” fertilizers. - The risks posed by chemical fertilizers.  - The role of plants in regenerative agriculture. - Composting.  - The phosphorus crisis and plant-based solutions.  - How to make your own fertilizer at home.   Resources: - Cabbage Hill Animal-free Fertilizer: Cabbage Hill Fertilizer - https://www.cabbagehillfertilizer.com/ - Investors - Cabbage Hill Animal-Free Fertilizer Co. - https://www.cabbagehillfertilizer.com/investors/ - Instagram: Erin Riley Cabbage Hill Fertilizer Hope Gardens (@cabbagehillfertilizer) • Instagram photos and videos - https://www.instagram.com/cabbagehillfertilizer/ - Facebook: Cabbage Hill Fertilizer Co. / Hope Gardens - https://www.facebook.com/yourHopegarden/ - YouTube: erin riley - YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/@cabbagehillfertilizer   ★☆★ Help us remove dairy from the Dietary Guidelines for Americans! ★☆★ https://switch4good.org/dietary-guidelines-for-americans-2025/ ★☆★ Click the link below to support the ADD SOY Act! ★☆★ https://switch4good.org/add-soy-act/ ★☆★ Share the website and get your resources here ★☆★ https://kidsandmilk.org/ ★☆★ Send us a voice message and ask a question. In this week's episode of Next Page, Laura and Todd sit down with Erin Riley, survivor of narcissistic abuse and author of "A Dark Force: 20 Years with a Covert Narcissist." Through her gripping and candid narrative, Erin unveils her two-decade journey trapped in a destructive relationship with a covert narcissist. Erin illuminates us about the concealed nature of narcissistic abuse and the profound toll it took on her mental and physical wellbeing. Riley dives deep into the character of a covert narcissist, a deceptively kind and agreeable individual who hides a lack of empathy and manipulative behavior behind a well-crafted facade. She speaks on her childhood and how a pattern of generational trauma and emotional neglect led her to develop a hyper-vigilant personality, a trait that unknowingly set her up for manipulative abuse.Erin's courageous story continues with her rocky marriage to Fabio, the covert narcissist whose quiet and helpful demeanor initially drew her in. As she navigates through the red flags of Fabio's passive-aggressive behavior, blame-shifting, and avoidance, Erin slowly starts to uncover the distressing truth. When the abuse reaches a breaking point, Erin's desperate attempt to save her relationship ends in betrayal when Fabio brings another woman to Panama. This heart-wrenching experience, along with years of physical and mental strain, initiates her journey to recovery. Erin's resilience shines through her process of self-reflection, therapy, and acceptance of her codependent tendencies, which eventually leads her to break free from the cycle of abuse. Her invaluable insights serve as a stark warning and beacon of hope for others entangled in narcissistic abuse, emphasizing that recovery, though challenging, is possible with self-compassion, boundary setting, and supportive resources like Erin's memoir and advocacy work. We finally met some 35 years after we were both at the same event with Yoko Ono celebrating the release of the documentary "Imagine" about John Lennon back in 1988... It's a small world. Though I'm sure we'll wind up talking music at some point, that's not the subject of today's interview. Instead, we'll talk about how Erin's life took a sharp turn from the sex and drugs and rock and roll life to the point where she wrote a book -- not a memoir of those music filled years, but A DARK FORCE: 20 YEARS WITH A COVERT NARCISSIST. But we'll begin, as usual, with the latest and yes, shocker, there is breaking news. An arrest was made in the case of the huge Pentagon classified documents leak and, go figure, it was a 21 year old gamer in a chatroom. South Florida has been hit with torrential rains and biblical flooding, resulting in the closure of Fort Lauderdale Airport yesterday-- and all day today! Jury selection began today in Delaware for the Dominion Voting Systems vs Fox (not) News. The trial is expected to begin on Monday. And Trump is back in NYC for another deposition before NY AG Letitia James.... and that will bring us to the topic of a narcissistic sociopath...

"If somebody gaslights you over and over and over again, it does a number on your brain!" This week we're straight talking having a Narcissistic Husband with Erin Riley. Erin grew up in Mad Men era Manhattan with a model "narcissistic" mother and actor father, before she ran away to California as a teen. Erin tells us her rock n roll stories from being in the rock scene for 40 years, including one about Lou Reed. She discusses the cycle of abuse with narcissists, her husband being a covert narcissist, the love bombing, the gaslighting and the impact it had on her. She also shares the early warning signs to look out for. Erin's dog Murphy has her smiling but people not doing what they say will has her riled. Allan is smiling seeing former co-hosts Peter & Kamron host a charity mental health event but trying to promote anything on social media has him riled. In major news Allan has decided to finish the podcast with this episode being the penultimate episode of the show. Follow Straight Talking Mental Health on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. According to what is known as “The Yerkes-Dodson law,” performance increases with physiological or mental arousal (stress) but only up to a point. When the level of stress becomes too high, performance decreases. There's more: The shape of the curve varies based on the complexity and familiarity of the task. Erin Riley is an Integrative Coach for Creatives and Entrepreneurs. She guides creatives and entrepreneurs through the emotional and tactical process of having a balanced life and thriving business at the same time. She's gathered expertise over the last 15 years supporting powerhouse entrepreneurs by intentionally growing their businesses and building the structure to their compelling visions. She joined me this week to tell me more. For more Information: https://www.erin-riley.com/ Subscribe: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/im-excited-show/id1587541714
