Today we're recording at the KKBOX studio in Taiwan, big thanks to the Firstory team for setting this up. We have joining us Phil Chen, founding partner of Race Capital and product executive at HTC, whom I can only describe as a basketball loving, deep tech investing, future building nerd of a modern Renaissance man. While at HTC, Phil led product management for the first ever Android phone, founded Vive VR, and launched the world's first blockchain phone (HTC Exodus). At the same time, Phil ran HTC's corporate development efforts, where he invested in KKBOX and SoundHound, and also led HTC's acquisition of Beats Electronics, which was eventually acquired by Apple. As a VC and advisor at Horizon Ventures (Li Ka-Shing's venture fund), Phil managed their deep tech investments, where he served as a board director for over fifteen companies globally including Improbable, Soul Machines, Kneron, Scopely, Sentient, Fano Labs, Amper and 88Rising. On today's podcast, Phil shares the insider scoop on HTC's incredible rise and eventual decline that hasn't been heard before, including an early opportunity to invest in Xiaomi when it was worth only $150m. Alvin Graylin is the President of HTC China. He is leading all aspects of the HTC business in the China Region and is responsible for Vive VR, phone, Viveport content platform and investments. And recently he has taken on the global responsibility for running the Software Business Unit for HTC as well. האינטרנט של הדברים הפיל את האינטרנט, בקרי שליטה חדשים ל-HTC Vive, סמסונג נגד מוד ל-GTA 5, וקונסולה חדשה לנינטנדו    הדברים של האינטרנט שהפילו את האינטרנט בשישי בלילה שעון ישראל הייתה מתקפה מסוג DDoS שהפילה כמה אתרי אינטרנט גדולים בארצות הברית. האתרים שנפלו טוויטר, אמזון, ספוטיפיי ו-AirBNB. מתקפת DDoS בקצרה בשביל ליישר קו – זו מניעת שירות מבוזרת, או בעברית, מלא מחשבים יוצרים עומס מלאכותי על שרת וגורמים לו לקרוס. זה בדיוק כמו שמלא אנשים עכשיו יתקשרו אליכם בטלפון, ולא תוכלו לקבל שיחות מאנשים שאתם מצפים להם. ממש בתיאור שטחי. המתקפה לא הייתה על האתרים הספציפיים האלה, אלא על חברה בשם DYN (דיין) שמנתבת אנשים שגולשים לאינטרנט לשרתים הנכונים. מעיין מרכזת אינטרנט. מה שאומר שהטיעון הוא שהאינטרנט היא רשת תקשורת מבוזרת הוא לא לגמרי מדויק. לפעמים אם פוגעים בצומת מרכזי, וזו לא פעם ראשונה שזה קורה, האינטרנט פשוט מושבת, גם אם באופן חלקי, למעט אנשים ומעט זמן, זה עדיין לא נעים, וגורם לתגובות שרשרת. אם חברה מסויימת צריכה לשלוח מיילים, או לעדכן את האתר, או להסתמך על שירותים ברשת, זה פושט גורם לתגובות שרשרת. תקלות פיזיות במתקנים של פלאפון וסלקום בשנים האחרונות השביתו את הרשתות לימים שלמים. אם יש חברה שהעובדים שלה מתקשרים בפלאפון או סלקום – הם פשוט לא יכולים לתת שירות, עד שיתארגנו על גיבוי, או יעברו למיילים וטלפונים קוויים – איטי ופחות נוח. בעולם זה קרה לפני שלוש שנים וחצי, כאשר חברה בשם ספאמהואס שמתחזקת רשימות ספאם, הותקפה, כנראה על ידי אחד השרתים שהיא סימנה כידידותי לספאמרים. בהתחלה תקפו רק אותם, ואז את החברה שעזרה להם להתמודד עם המתקפה, ובתוך כל זה המתקפה התפשטה לכל האינטרנט. מה שקרה הפעם מעניין מבחינה אחרת – הדרך שבה תקפו. באופן רגיל איך עובד DDoS? אתם מקבלים איזה וירוס למחשב ממייל או מתוכן פיראטי שהורדתם ולכאורה חושבים שהוא לא עושה כלום כי לא ראיתם נזק. הוא יושב במחשב שלכם ומחכה ליום הפקודה, ואז פשוט מבקשים מהמחשב שלכם לשלוח מידע לשרת שרוצים להתקיף. מבחינתכם זה בוטנים, אבל כשיש עוד מיליונים כמוכם נגועים בווירוס, זה עושה בלגן. הפעם אלה לא רק מחשבים, אלא גם מצלמות חכמות, סטרימרים, נתבים, הכפתור החכם לדוד או למזגן ובעצם כל מוצר שיש לכם בבית ומתחבר לאינטרנט. זה פשוט מכפיל בצורה מטורפת את מספר המכשירים שיכולים לתקוף, כולל המנורות שיש לשחר בסלון. אם לא הן ספציפית אז הז'אנר הזה. יש תעשייה שלמה של אבטחה שמיועדת למוצרים האלה. אבל אתה תטרח לעדכן גירסאות ולשים אינטוירוס? זה מעניין אותך בכלל? אם אף אחד לא צופה בך במצלמה, והמנורות שלך לא מתחילות פתאום להבהב או לקבל יותר חשמל ולהתפוצץ לא אכפת לך אם הן יתקפו שרת כלשהו, בדיוק כמו שלא אכפת לך אם המחשב שלך יעשה את זה. במחשב אתה פשוט מפחד שהמידע שלך ידלוף או יינזק. מה עושים? כרגע אפשר בעיקר לעדכן גירסאות פירמוור של כל המוצרים שיש לנו כשהם מבקשים, ולקנות מוצרים של חברות מוכרות שאנחנו יודעים שיתרנו עדכונים. או פשוט שימשיך לא להיות לנו אכפת שמישהו תורף מישהו אחר. פינת המוצר של שחר Elephone Elecam Explorer Elite – זוהי מצלמת אקסטרים בינונית המצלמת 4K ויש לה מסך LCD מובנה. נחמד לתת לילד לשחק או להתקין על מתקן שלא בטוח יחזיק מעמד. 70 דולר בגירבסט, איכות סבירה, תפעול סביר, סך הכל סביר מאוד. סמסונג נגד פרודיות בזמן הבלגן עם הנוט 7 מישהו חמד לצון ויצר מוד – כלומר תוספת למשחק GTA שמחליף רימונים בנוט 7. אפשר ללכת לחנות תחמושת, לרכוש כמה נוטים לזרוק ולפוצץ. הוא צחק על זה שהמכשירים הללו פשוט מפתוצצים להם בלי סיבה – מה שהוביל את סמסונג לבטל את ליין המוצרים הזה נכון לעכשיו.     בכל מקרה בערוץ היוטיוב Modded Games עלה סרטון שמדגים את השימוש בנוט 7 כרימון וצבר מלאנתלפים צפיות. סמסונג לא אהבה את זה ושלחה ליוטיוב דרישת הסרה בטענה שמדובר בזכויות יוצרים שלה. יוטיוב במקרים רבים כאלה לא שואלת שאלות כי היא מעדיפה בעלי ערוצים ממורמרים מאשר תביעת זכויות יוצאים במלא כסף, אז היא הסירה ושלחה הודעה אוטומטית לבעל הערוץ שכוללת איום שאם יהיו לו עוד הפרות – ישעו אותו. אגב, אני קיבלתי פעם אזהרה כזאת על סרטון שהייתה בו מוזיקה שיש עליה זכויות. עכשיו זה היה סרטון שנערך למאקו והיינו צריכים להעלות זמנית לשם בשביל לצפות ולשלוח הערות. הסרטון היה מוגבל לצפיה והיו לו שתי צפיות סך הכל. אבל כנראה כלי אוטומטי הצליח לאתר את זה, וכך האזהרה נשלחה. אני מחקתי אותו לגמרי, אבל הם פשוט מגיעים לכולם. הסרטון רץ גם בוואטספ והגיע במלא העתקים לערוצי יוטיוב אחרים. כך שבאופן לא ממש הוגן, היוצר המקורי שלו הואשם בהפקת זכויות, בעוד כל מיני חאפרים שלא נקפו אצבע בשביל ליצור או לחשוב ורק לחצו אפלואד מרוויחים עליו ליקיים, צפיות וכסף. הוא ערער ובמקביל העלה את הסרטון מחדש לערוץ שלו. בגלריה הזאת באימג'ר הוא פירסם את על הפרטים על הבקשה וההסרה שקיבל מיוטיוב.
