Went to VR (Virtual Reality) and ended up with Eustachian Tube Dysfunction which is basically an earache where it hurts your throat when you swallow, it's in your airways so of course I have to have asthma as well and there's nothing I can take for it. Just wait and let it resolve. Talk about bad timing because this happened on the 25th April and I'm recording it 4 days before the wedding
Trudno o bardziej niezwykłe spotkanie przeszłości z przyszłością, sztuki z technologią, tradycyjnej sceny teatralnej z najnowszymi rozwiązaniami z obszaru VR (Virtual Reality) i AR (Augmented Reality). Jedno jest pewne – teatr wkroczył w nową erę. Zaledwie kilka miesięcy temu (14. czerwca 2024 r.) we Florencji odbyła się światowa premiera eksperymentalnej opery hybrydowej „Orfeo & Lwanda Hybrid Opera”, opowiadającej historię XVIII-wiecznego afrykańskiego wojownika Lwandy Magere i Orfeusza. O swoich doświadczeniach opowiedziała artystka i projektantka dr Anna Syczewska w rozmowie z naukowczynią i projektantką innowacji Agatą Bisping. Strefa Designu Uniwersytetu SWPS to projekt popularyzujący wiedzę z zakresu projektowania: produktów, architektury, wnętrz, mody i komunikacji. Pokazuje, czym jest dobre projektowanie i w jaki sposób realizuje ono konkretne potrzeby użytkowników. Więcej informacji o projekcie: https://web.swps.pl/strefa-designu.

In the past, he has worked on Horizon Worlds at Meta, AR at HTC-Vive, VR at Visual Vocal, and more.-If you can't tell already, Daniel's design focus is XR design, which stands for “extended reality.” This is an umbrella term that covers VR (Virtual Reality), AR (Augmented Reality), and MR (Mixed reality). Thus, I was very excited to learn more about XR design from him. And man did I learn a ton. We talked about how he got into XR design, the biggest challenges designers in XR are solving, how to get into immersive design, and a ton of related topics. But, on top of that, what I really appreciated was Daniel's attention to detail. You'll hear in this conversation multiple times that Daniel would often either rephrase my question or ask me to clarify my question. It's a great reminder as a host myself to be intentional with my questions & the clarity of them, so I really appreciate Daniel for doing so. Now, without further ado, here was my conversation with Daniel Robbins.===Highlights⭐ How Daniel got into XR design⭐ What are the problems designers in XR are trying to solve⭐ How to get started in XR design⭐ Current status of XR design⭐ The difference between design & art===Links

When you first hear about VR (Virtual Reality) being used for medical training, it kind of sounds like a game or a joke and not a serious addition to a doctor's training. However, the reality is that the technology and the research around surgical training using VR is very serious and much more than a game. What did surprise me was how VR surgical training was not so much a replacement to surgical training, but a great addition that takes the existing training to a new level. This is part of what I learned about VR surgical training when I talked with Justin Barad, CEO and co-founder at Osso VR and Dr. Cory Calendine, MD, Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery for Williamson Medical Center and Founding Partner of the Bone and Joint Institute of Tennessee. One of the things that struck me most in our video interview below was the number of repetitions a doctor could do using VR that just isn't reasonable outside of that world. I've long known the value of spaced repetition in learning and so it makes sense why Osso VR's virtual training can provide surgeons the repetitions they need. We have the great honor of speaking to an icon in our industry today! Corbin Ball, aka Mr. Technology, is an influential leader who has been sharing his knowledge, insights, and technological discoveries for many years! He was inducted into the Events Industry Council's Hall of Leaders in 2018 and was named the most influential person in the Top 25, five times! In this episode, Corbin talks to us about AI (Artificial Intelligence), AR (Augmented Reality), VR (Virtual Reality), and data insights and analytics. We hope you will enjoy listening to our conversation! Corbin Ball's bio: Corbin Ball, CSP, CMP, DES, MS is an international speaker, consultant, and writer helping clients worldwide use technology to save time and improve productivity. After more than a decade running international citywide technology meetings, Corbin transitioned in 1997 to become a highly acclaimed speaker with the ability to make complex subjects understandable and fun. Corbin is a 2018 inductee into the Events Industry Council's Hall of Leaders, the most prestigious honor in the meetings, conventions, and exhibitions industry. He is the only person to have received both the MPI International Supplier of the Year and the MPI International Chapter Leader of the Year awards. Corbin has been named as one of "The 25 Most Influential People in the Meetings Industry" five times by Successful Meetings/Meeting News magazines. Corbin was named last month by Cvent as one of “20 Event Professionals You Should Be Following.” Corbin Ball's journey When he left college, Corbin became the Director of Educational Media for Western Washington University. That was where his immersion in technology began. Several years later, he was asked to help a small engineering association with the technological side of their events. He continued working for that association for about 15 years, during which time they grew to run the largest meetings in the world in the area of optics. Technology was going to change everything In 1997, Corbin saw that technology was going to change everything. It became apparent that technology would change the world of events profoundly. So, he decided to travel more and form his own business as a speaker, consultant, and writer, focusing specifically on event technology. He was the first person to do that, and it has been a fun ride for him ever since then! Corbin Ball can lay claim to the longest-running website Corbin has the longest-running event technology website (www.corbinball.com). He started it shortly after forming his business, Corbin Ball and Company. He has loved helping event professionals understand technology so that they can improve their business processes. The silver lining The pandemic taught Corbin to slow down, smell the roses, and enjoy life wherever he is. Technological changes During the last 14 months, there has been an explosion of innovation, particularly in virtual meetings. Virtual meetings have changed more during this time than they have in the past decade. The year of hybrid event technology and innovation All the best practices that we have learned from virtual meetings will forever change the face of in-person events. Corbin thinks that 2021 will be the year of hybrid event technology and innovation. Profound changes in society The best practices that we learned and the forced increased digitization of how we do business have created profound changes in our society. Corbin Ball's thoughts on the future marketing of events The way that events get marketed will be different in the future. As Corbin explains, there has been a lot of talk about establishing a year-round community and creating marketing campaigns to market events to that community. That community will use AI and do things differently and more efficiently. Face-to-face There is nothing that can replace face-to-face communication, interaction, and relationship-building, which are all key parts of the sales process. Exhibitors at exhibitions have complained of having low net promoter scores because they were unable to make the same connections as they do at face-to-face events. Yet, Corbin still feels that the virtual meetings piece will be substantially larger than it was in the past. The impact AI will have on meetings and events Corbin feels that AI will become one of the biggest and most profound trends of this decade. It will change everything. AI has many applications for events. In 2019, Wordly.ai created a technology for events that accurately translates voice into audio and text in 16 different languages. That technology can be used for virtual events to open the translations up to a much broader audience. Chatbots will also be helpful for events, as will AI technologies designed for biometrics. Zenus.ai does facial recognition for meeting registration and access control accurately, quickly, and securely. Anonymous facial analytics In the area of anonymous facial analytics, gender, estimated age, levels of interest, and emotions can all be measured. Facial analytics applications can also count the number of people in large groups, measure their age and gender, and even measure whether or not they are paying attention during an event. We will see facial recognition technology used more frequently for travel and hotel check-ins. Non-contact palm scans Non-contact palm scans can automatically scan the contents of a grocery basket instantly. AI customization for events Some companies have been using the data points from people's event registrations to create algorithms to help them find matches for their interests with the exhibitors they should see or the sessions they should attend. There is a lot of growth potential in that area. Video recap Another company has designed video recap software specifically for events. It creates searchable transcripts that highlight the key points throughout the presentations. Vertical markets Every vertical market, from farming to pharmacology, will also be affected by artificial intelligence. Virtual Reality For a virtual reality experience, you put on goggles and get taken to another place. Although that is not ideal for events, it can be helpful for hotel sales, site inspections, or elaborate equipment demos. Augmented and Mixed Reality Mixed reality is similar to augmented reality. It involves layering additional objects, information, or a character within the view that you are seeing. It can provide an effective display, but the headsets are, unfortunately, quite expensive. AI on a phone or tablet The technology for using AI on a phone or a tablet is well-established. It has been around for more than a decade. Recent upgrades to android devices and iPhones have improved the technology and made it much easier to use. Augmented reality glasses In the future, we will be using normal-looking glasses that have augmented reality components for many different applications. Projection mapping With projection mapping, you can layer a digital experience on top of something concrete. You can convert the side of a building to be animated or create a stage set where people can interact with things that are not there. The technology for projection mapping has improved recently, making it easier to use and less expensive. Data integration and analytics One of the benefits of virtual meetings is that every click is trackable, and you can get rich data from every attendee. The same thing can apply to face-to-face events, although that is a little more difficult. Many systems will automatically give you data and analytics. Data analytics typically requires three things: You have to integrate all your different data sources with the analytics technology. You need to use artificial intelligence to analyze the data and see the insights. You need to make the data accessible to humans. (For example, by making a graph or a chart.) Once all the data has been brought together, you can use it to better serve your customers by providing them with what they are interested in and what they want. Tech can be used for good and for bad. Social media can be used for good and for bad. Social media is not evil, you just want to remember that those platforms want your eyeballs on them as much as possible. Money is not evil, it's people who can use money in ethical ways or unethical ways. The same applies to a knife. You can kill someone with it, or you can use it to cook a delicious dish. At the end of the day, these are all tools. It's up to us human beings to decide how we use these tools. Don't blame the tool, blame the human being. Of course, you can question in what way a tool should be improved which will prevent more people from using the tool in unethical ways. Take the internet for example. There is a level of anonymity and security to be felt when exploring the digital world. This can result in people projecting any dark sides they may have. So while tools are not perfect and can be misused, doesn't mean there are no existing benefits that can enhance our lives. We can understand and make use of the benefits while remaining vigilant about the dangers and cons. When you have the tech talk with your child for example, you want to discuss both the good and the bad. There is little point to just be negative about the digital world since it is part of our lives. Part of society. It doesn't occupy a smart part though, but a huge one. We are never going back to a world without the internet. One day, the internet will be older than any person alive. When that happens, the human race will undoubtedly be surrounded by AI, VR (Virtual Reality), AR (Augmented Reality) and the digital world. That's why it's good to introduce strategies now that enable us to preserve our mind and spirit. Understand the tool and let it magnify your good intentions. If not, the tool can use you and make your life much harder…

After working in film, this week's special guest, Peter Stolmeier, has transitioned into a different industry - VR (Virtual Reality)! We talk about how VR relates to film and how it has and is currently impacting the film industry. We also delve into his passion as a Trekkie and his experience flying out to the premier of ‘Picard’. Then we chat a bit about virtually (see what I did there?) every project Peter has worked on including ‘The Odd Life of Timothy Green’, ‘The Vampire Diaries’, Lucidity and his controversial role in ‘Madea’s Boo!’.
Welcome to Part 5 of Our Quarantined Life. In this episode, I chat with a long-time friend, Kelsie Stone. Kelsie is the author of Glass Dust, and her wisdom certainly goes beyond her years. Kelsie is passionate about people. In fact, she shaved her head in order to raise money for MUST Ministries during the COVID-19 crisis. Even though she is in isolation due to being immune-compromised, she wanted to continue to contribute to helping others in her community. She petitioned for people to donate money to this ministry in hopes of allowing more people to be fed during this pandemic. Kelsie has a connective tissue disease called Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, or HEDS for short. This disease is considered rare; however, Kelsie, along with others who have also been diagnosed, thinks that it is more common than we are aware. Kelsie is immune-compromised and was also diagnosed with a disorder called Scheuermann Disease, and then eventually Ankylosing Spondylitis, after she found out that her spine was broken in three different places without her knowledge of ever having broken it. We mention how, in high school, Tiffany was awarded a trip to the counselor's office because of a poem she wrote for The Cherokee Review, a book of poems and short stories submitted by the high school students. Who knows? Maybe I'll publish it as an article at http://teaoflifepodcast.com/, and then you can give me your opinion on whether or not that trip was truly deserved. Kelsie is a passionate gamer, specifically VR (Virtual Reality). We talk about how she has been able to turn her passion for gaming into physical therapy for her body, and she shares about her desire to introduce gaming techniques to the disabled community. Kelsie encourages everyone to remember that lives matter...everyone matters. She hopes that we can hold on to the adversity that we are experiencing right now so that we can continue pulling together going forward. Relationship and community have always been important, and we hope that we can remember that when this all comes to an end. Visit Amazon today to buy your own copy of Kelsie's book, Glass Dust.

Marketing Study Lab Helping You Pass Marketing Qualifications
Welcome to episode 50! Yes 50, of the Marketing Study Lab. And this is a mega special episode as I speak to, rather nervously I may add – Goldie Chan, as well as finding out the difference between AR and VR. Hopefully by now you’ve got the jist of what is going on here, but if you don’t, not to worry, you'll soon catch up. And what better way to start this catch-up than with my guest, Goldie Chan. Goldie has gone from a Biological Science degree to LinkedIn’s Top Voice for 2018 and a contributor to Forbes. Providing social media with purpose, Goldie is currently the strategic lead for Warm Robot, her social media agency, helping Fortune 500 C-level executives. But what caught my eye was the top-performing LinkedIn video series #DailyGoldie offering advice and guidance as well as sparking debate e very day for over 500 consecutive days and still going strong. Takeaways - When considering the differences between a personal and an organizational brand, Goldie explained that a personal brand looks at the person, their life, who are they, what do they do and what aspects of daily life can be repeated to be an authentic brand that creates authority, which is similar to organisation branding in that they must be authentic and create authority to mean something. - If you are starting from zero, zilch, nothing then the best place to start is to find out where your target market is and contribute there. Start to be part of the conversation, before even considering becoming a thought leader in that space. - When building an online presence take it one step at a time and one platform at a time. Start with one, master that one, go in-depth, then move on to other places. - And a special bonus pro tip here – When videoing, pretend the camera is your friend. You will come across as more authentic and real, increasing your engagement. AR and VR So what do these acronyms mean? AR – Augmented Reality is defined as an interactive experience of a real-world environment "augmented" by computer-generated information. VR – Virtual Reality is defined as an interactive computer-generated experience taking place within a simulated environment. The main difference between the two is that one VR is built within an environment that is completely computer-generated, whereas AR relies on both computer generated information as well as the real world in a combination of the two. Both have their advantages and disadvantages, but it is the incorporation of AR into our everyday lives that is the most exciting, opening the possibilities for digital enhancements to our daily activities to make them more efficient, productive and overall reduce friction that can occur when technology is not utilised to our advantage.

Co-hosts Andrew James (@OneWhoSeesDimly) and Eric D. (@HopSnobbery) are joined by Mel Allen (@TheRealVoiceMel) to launch Episode 006 of Riff On, talking electronics and namely computers, video games and technology because at this point, all of the hosts have been around computers and technology for 30+ years, including Coleco Vision, the Atari 2600, Merlin and Simon. Recollecting Ames, Service Merchandise and Star Trek technology, Mel was introduced to computers in 1984, Andrew, in 1981 and Eric D. around 1984 with an IBM PC Jr. TRS-80 and CAT computers are discussed in early technology. First video game systems are discussed, including Atari, Nintendo and Sega Genesis. Mel still has a Genesis and Eric D. misses the simplicity of the single button and two-button controls like Atari and Nintendo, even though he has a Playstation 3. Retro gaming lives on at The Archives in Burlington, Vermont, which is home to an incredible craft beer list, with 80s upright arcade games. Aladdin's Castle in the University Mall, Dream Machine in the Square Mall, Skateland in Williston, and the Milton laundromat all had upright video game machines that the hosts played at. Eric D. recollects the Nintendo Track & Field trick with the pen cap, as well as playing Atari 8-bit baseball, Sega 94 Hockey and the retirement of Jaromir Jagr and having recently visting a Game Stop to buy a used wrestling video game. But now, it's all about Egames and Egaming and the use of Twitch to live stream video games. Mortal Kombat, Ivan "Ironman" Stewart's Super Off Road and Missile Command video games are all dwelled upon, as welel as Andrew James talking about coding when he first got into gaming. Zork and Leisure Suit Larry were old school computer games and "Deep Fake" would be the modern-age version of cutting-edge technology and electronics. The gang discusses Dragon's Lair to Call of Duty in regards to graphics capabilities and how we're moving into AR (Augmented Reality), VR (Virtual Reality) and AI (Artificial Intelligence) including Pokemon Go. Andrew James has his Wii and plays bowling with his girls, which Eric D. never had. How great would a Wii be with Nintendo games? Interactive gaming is all the rage at the local bowling alley (Spare Time) including a large scale Connect Four and a 'beer pong' type game. Interactive gaming also includes Guitar Hero and DJ Hero. The rabbit hole moves through hip-hop music, including A Tribe Called Quest, Eminem, Run DMC, N.W.A., Drake, Migos and Kanye West. However, when it all comes said and done, this is all part of modern day electronics. Be sure to check out Mel Allen at @TheRealVoiceMel on Twitter and Instagram and at www.therealvoice.com online. Andrew James hosts The Local Haunt on Facebook. Eric D. also hosts the Let's Fix Construction podcast. www.LFCpodcast.com Thank you for tuning in and be sure to give us a follow on Twitter or Instagram at @RiffOnPodcast and a like on Facebook at www.facebook.com/RiffOnPodcast/

Nej! Aris Tyros lives in Toronto, Canada. He was one of the filmmakers who traveled to San Diego for the 6th annual International Mobile Film Festival. He flew home with the trophy for Second Prize with his film shot with an iPhone 6S: How I Became A Movie Theatre Murderer. Aris’ film was the first film submitted to the festival. The film was also nominated for Best Director award at the Global Mobile Film Awards, which is an Awards Ceremony dubbed as the “Oscars” of the mobile film industry. Two days before the recording of this podcast, Aris won the award for Best Director.Episode 9 of the SBP Podcast interviews Aris about how his film began with a concern about what to do in a situation, such as the incident which took place in 2012 where a man shot and killed people inside a movie theater. His concern travelled from inside his mind into his pocket as he reached for his smartphone and used it to turn his concern into a story and then crafted a movie to share with the entire world.Aris shares his feelings about winning the award and then he shares how he developed the film from start to finish. We talk about acquiring the location, a movie theater, for his movie and why he insisted in using a real movie theater even after being turned down, due to the nature of his film. The app he used to film it. How he achieved the sound for his film, and why he made the decisions he made. We discussed lighting and gave some tips on achieving good lighting for a smartphone film. Aris shared his VR (Virtual Reality) film project and we discussed the VR trend as well.Since we are leaving 2017, we asked Aris what his plans are for 2018 and he shares another idea which he may turn into a movie next year.We also asked him to share tips and tricks for anyone planning to make a VR film which is available as a bonus episode exclusively on our Patreon page for subscribers who support us as a token of gratitude. www.Patreon.com/sbppodcastThe movie Aris won the awards with is 5 minutes long because in order to qualify for the International Mobile Film Festival’s short film competition, the films have to be no longer than five minutes. However, we told Aris during the interview we would share his original version. Here is the direct link to his film. Imagine sitting down at your desk, putting on your VR headset, and pulling up an application that transports you to a different world- one where you can interact with people from across the globe as if they were standing right beside you. Sit down for a board game with your grandmother from overseas, or wander your way through a social event, entering and exiting conversations as you would in reality. “When you have someone from the U.S. standing next to someone from Brazil, standing next to someone from Saudi Arabia, you get some really fascinating conversations out of it,” says Gavan Whilhite, founder of AltSpace VR. Whilhite proposes a virtual reality platform for communication that uniquely applies positional audio and 3-dimensional emphasis to enhance the “human” aspect of human interaction. Tune in to learn more. Whilhite also discusses: * The features and applications of AltSpace VR, including the use of holograms and social tools * What the future holds for the AltSpace VR project * How anyone can access AltSpace VR and start using it today
