This month we played Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms by Codename Entertainment, Clicker Heroes by Playsaurus, and Cookie Clicker by Orteil. You don't so much play these games as monitor them and let them play themselves. Occasional check ins and upgrades are really all that these games ask of you. These games will continue to progress while you tend to your own real life problems.

Welcome to episode 99 of the TrueAchievements podcast, where this week we've all been hunting through our pile of shame to make more progress in the amazingly fun 12 Days of Christmas challenge. On this show, we give you the chance to win an Xbox One download code for Hello Neighbor, we update you on our 12 Days of Christmas challenge progress (including Jack who had a busy weekend of gaming), we talk about the lack of achievements in PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, the currently running World of Tanks Xbox One X giveaway, Destiny 2 fixing unobtainable achievements and the Bad Comany 3 rumours. On this show, we give you the chance to win an Xbox One download code for SOMA, we talk about the random selection of games that Rich and I have been using to make progress through the early stages of the 12 days of Christmas challenge, why I caved in and bought The Walking Dead Collection - The Telltale Series, why Jack has finally put down Clicker Heroes (we'll see for how long), Rich returns to Titanfall 2 and we debate which games would be suitable to play on the toilet. Clicker games, also known as idle games, are an odd breed of games that literally play themselves. Many of them have strong DISincentives for active participation. Clicker Heroes is arguably the archetype of this style of game, or, at least, is probably the most widely known. Developed by Playsaurus, it was originally released for browsers in 2014. Clients for Windows, OS X, and mobile devices were released in 2015. Clicker Heroes is available on steam or can be played at clickerheroes.com.

Happy Birthday to Cupcheck and Lt Fork. Show X is joined by our Author friend Jon Wasik to talk geek and his new book, Burning Skies. Having an author in the house, Ken starts things out with a list of some of the latest words to join the Oxford Dictionary, for all of you Grrrls, wearing Jeggings, while OMG sexting your Noob, Muggle, bromancing, Illiterati, boyfriends, wearing their Mankini's and Guyliner, while Chillaxing after getting away from the Po-po, but Whatevs. Wayne is going to try and support his ex family in New Mexico and will miss the next show... To make this trek he has been working on his truck to keep the old girl going. He also enjoyed a long ninja day with training and friends. Tromad hits up the show with an email to announce the launch of his new podcast, TroTalk which will be joining the VtW family in the next couple weeks. Ken has been busy with work lately, but managed to get in some gaming on Payday 2. Wayne has gotten his anime on again with the series Magi, while Ken calls him out for gaining many hours of Clicker Heroes, the game he said to never play. The guys also catch everyone up on what happened with Awesome Games Done Quickly over the last week. Wayne has also succumbed to the launch of Pokemon GO from Niantic and Nintendo. He is in good company with apparently most of the rest of the world. Show X finishes out with Jon telling us all a bit about Burning Skies and how this book progresses on from the introductory book, The Sword of Dragons. Have you ever played a game that just made you feel...dirty and ashamed? And you kinda liked it? Whether it's Clicker Heroes, Senran Kagura or Sakura Wars, we sure did. Also, we play Brigador, Wasteland 2, The Banner Saga, Valkyria Chronicles Remastered, Overwatch and Momodora 4.
This episode was produced by a team of goblins snatched from their homes to toil day and night. It’s okay though, we feed them presents and words every day, so they must love us. They even say so when we pat them. This fortnight, the gang gathers in the Chunderchamber to discuss clicker games (The full list being, I am told, Cookie Clicker 2, Clicker Heroes, Time Clickers, Idle Oil Tycoon, Kittens Game, A Dark Room and Candy Box). Then, for whomever is still awake, we also talk about the PC Gamer Weekender event in London, and the legally rad Vive VR headset thing. After that it’s all downhill, a decline into mere computer games like Stardew Valley, The Witcher 3, Devil Daggers and Tom’s Clancy Division.
Ken is having a wonderful day today as he jams his way into another episode of Show X. It is the Christmas season everywhere else in the world, while the United States struggles to wait until after their Turkey Murder day to start the celebration. Ken is especially excited because of all of the great food that Christmas brings about as he only remember significant moments in food. Ken is tyring to get into his winter routine of starting to exercise, that way he can do a Tough Mudder with his family and friends. Ken is also enjoying his freedom of speech being a university professor and having people around him that enjoy stimulating conversation and debate. Go figure, this completely derails the show as Wayne gets all huffy about people being offended. Wayne has consumed some fun media this week with the Marvel/Netflix release of Jessica Jones and the last Hunger Games movie. Scribble and Kopii let us know their geek cred this week, both lovely ladies are extremely talented at creating geek artwork. Wayne is working his ninja arts with light sabers, games a bit in the Blizzard beta for Overwatch, and the chaos of Rocket League, while Pawz continues to rep it for VtW in Black Ops 3. Ken surprisingly didn't play Clicker Heroes, but that is because he spent all of his time updating his website and playign Fallout 4. WARNING, This episode of Show X contains Adult content, including Retirement, Consequence to actions, and planning for travel. Ken and Wayne are realizing that they want to stop working at some point and discuss how they could retire someday. Wow, Show X gets all adullt. Wayne continues to rant about how he feels that publicly trading stocks on a business cause it to lose its soul. Ken continues to have to deal with losing pets. Ken doesn't believe he needs a license in order to drive in Scotland. At least he is working to make Ken Con a real thing. Wayne helps La Campet makea cosplay while neglecting his own. Wayne has watched more DC shows on Netflix and gives his opinions. Someone took the time to make Golf fun and a video game in real life. Cupcheck also joins to show to share his recent technology woes and random acts of internet kindness. They guys want everyone to come join them in Clicker Heroes so we can beat more bosses. They guys talk a bit about sexuality roles in games before switching to true geekdom and gushing on the latest trailer for the upcoming Star Wars film. Wayne is still hanging out in the basement this week and Ken is sinking into his new couch. Ken talks about what it means to be a student in his classes. We wish a fond farewell to Kitten Feature's family bunny, Jackson, who has passed. Wayne gets his car all legal after breaking into it. Somehow Wayne and Ken go from discussing the new car Ken wants to buy to Equality in gaming and the world. Are men and women more likely to play certain games or roles than each other? After the break, the guys chill out a bit and start talking games, well, screen savers, specifically Clicker Heroes. Ken is really enjoying Metal Gear Solid V as his first MGS game. Wayne went out crawling about with zombies and played some Rocket League with groups of VtWers. Ken is covering the show alone this week so that Wayne can go hike through some mountains all Ninja like. Ken gets distracted by the IRC as he tries to accomplish a professional show this week. There is much Clicking still happening as Ken continues to play Clicker Heroes but has now expanded his addiction to his mobile device. There is new World of Warcraft news this week with the announcement of a new expansion, Legion. Short show today as Ken doesn't have the stamina to accomplish two hours on his own. Ken and Wayne actually pull of a full show. Ken continues to annoy old ladies in his neighborhood. Wayne is on the mend, but still has to lubricate things with some tea to try and maintain his voice. Show X wishes Lt Fork a very Happy Birthday. Wayne recommends the Minions and especially hopes for a soundtrack, thus showing his age. In Geek Cred, Ken is finally back off his silly WoW kick, but has replaced it with even less of a game, Clicker Heroes. Wayne on the other hand picked up Agar.io on both his phone and in browsers. Wayne also managed to get his 3d printer running again. 01:52:00 - Afsluiting Muziek: - Ristar (intro MegaDrive) - Super Mario Land (Gameboy) - Splatoon (Lumenatebit remix) - YS Book I and II (PC Engine CD) - Insector X (outtro NES)
