In the latest episode of Facts vs Feelings, Ryan Detrick, Chief Market Strategist, and Sonu Varghese, VP, Global Macro Strategist, welcome tech analyst Dan Ives, Managing Director at Wedbush, to discuss the state of AI, the future of autonomous technologies, China-U.S. relations in tech, and investment opportunities beyond the usual headlines.Broadcasting from Carson's 2025 Spring Partner Summit in Omaha, this conversation blends covers everything from Tesla and Palantir to Microsoft's AI momentum and more.Key TakeawaysTesla Is Not Just a Car Company: Dan emphasized that Tesla should be valued as a disruptive AI and robotics company, not merely an automaker. Autonomous robotics are seen as a core driver of its future valuation.AI Party Is Just Getting Started: We're still in the early innings of the AI revolution—around “10:30 p.m.” on an all-night timeline, according to Dan. He likens skeptics to party-poopers who will wish they had joined once the sun comes up.China Cannot Be Decoupled: Efforts to cut ties with China in tech manufacturing are unrealistic, says Dan. The U.S. relies heavily on Chinese infrastructure, and disrupting this would have broad economic consequences.Apple as the AI Highway: While Apple may have lagged in AI innovation early on, Dan believes it will become the dominant platform for consumer AI applications thanks to its vast device ecosystem and installed base.Microsoft's Untapped AI Monetization: Despite a recent lull in stock performance, Dan sees Microsoft as massively underappreciated in its AI capabilities, especially within its enterprise customer base.Google (Alphabet) Is Underloved: Alphabet is currently the most underestimated of the “Magnificent Seven” tech stocks, particularly due to overstated concerns about search being disrupted by AI.Palantir's Long-Term Role: Dan projects Palantir as a trillion-dollar company in the making, thanks to its growing role in enterprise and sovereign AI applications.AI Stocks Beyond the Headlines: Emerging names like Pegasystems, SoundHound, Veronis, and CyberArk are cited as under-the-radar plays in the AI boom, especially in areas like cybersecurity and data infrastructure.Autonomous + Robotics = Game Changer: Dan envisions a near-future where humanoid robots under $20,000 become household norms—transforming labor, transportation, and daily life.Bitcoin's Role in Tech: Bitcoin's institutional adoption is growing, and Dan sees it as a risk-on asset with increasing relevance, especially in a deregulated environment.

If you needed a surprise in the new year, this is it! We are back!! It's been a longish hiatus. I needed the time to recharge and think about where the industry is headed. We also welcomed a new member to our family, and I have used the time to change over a thousand nappies!!So, what exactly happened in the last year? The AI in Automotive Podcast quietly - literally quietly - turned five. AI went properly mainstream. Like BOOM mainstream! The silicon valley AI CEOs turned into demigods, and everything from your toaster to your kids' toys turned AI-powered, seemingly overnight.AI was always an important enabling technology in the automotive industry, and this is what we had been covering on the show for the last five years. But the buzz around AI pushed some OEMs to make AI in the car more visible - enter features like ‘ChatGPT in the car'. There are interesting applications for a conversational interface in the vehicle - we covered this in our chat with Matt Anderson from SoundHound, for instance. But for them to have any value to the driver, software-defined vehicles with a coherent EE architecture is a key pre-requisite. We've covered this in numerous conversations in the past. With Sarah Tatsis from BlackBerry for instance, or Hemant Sikaria from Sibros. If you look beyond what is mainstream, then the biggest theme that is emerging is the rapid convergence of the automotive and energy industries. We are seeing energy utilities turn into EV lease companies, and automotive OEMs turning into energy companies, thanks to the energy in the batteries of their EV parc. This represents significant opportunities for energy companies, automotive OEMs, fleet owners / operators and hundreds of other players in the automotive and energy ecosystems. Needless to say, AI, as an enabling technology, is a key accelerator of this convergence. This is what we will be covering in future episodes of the AI in Automotive Podcast. As always, I have an incredible roster of knowledgeable experts sharing valuable insights and unique perspectives. I am sure you will enjoy what is coming up.If you feel you have benefited from the content on this show in the past, please do share the AI in Automotive Podcast with your friends and colleagues who might find it valuable as well. I promise you there are no more babies on the way, and hence, no more long breaks!!AI in Automotive Podcast

Tell me if this sounds familiar…you're sitting around with a bunch of friends talking about music when someone says “what's that song with the thing at the beginning and the boom-boom sound effects?....it's got that guitar—or maybe it it's not… you know the one!”…and then the friend gets frustrated when he gets a bunch of blank stares. If you've ever worked in a record store, you know the stare because you've done it with the customer who wants you to identify the artist, song, and album from her little acapella performance…and then she gets mad when you come up blank. Same thing happens with me and with all people who work in radio….a couple of times a week, I'll get an email like this: “i'm hoping you can help me find a song”…uh-oh…“I think it's from the 80s but maybe not…there are some beats on a bassline with a melody that goes “oooooooeeeooo” or something…the video has a bunch of dancers in it…do you the song?”…uh, no…i don't. Some attach audio files of them plunking out notes on an instrument—and there have been at least a couple of people whistling. But here's the weird thing…sometimes—just enough times—you actually get it right…it's like a tiny explosion in your head as your personal database throws up the correct answer…when that happens, it feels so good!...you solved a mystery and made someone happy in the process…i love that feeling. Things have changed in this century, of course…tracking down a mysterious song is easier than ever thanks to listening apps like Shazam and Soundhound…or you can enter some lyrics into a site like lyricfind.com. Even throwing a bunch of random words into the google search bar can get you started…I've found crowdsourcing a song identification problem through certain websites (reddit, for example) can sometimes be helpful. But even with all this technology and the ability to tap into the minds of music fans around the planet, some songs just don't want to the identified…and this has become a serious game for music fans… “challenge accepted,” as they say. These mysterious songs that are missing from the musical record are part of a category that's been dubbed “Lostwave”…and this is their story. Learn more about your ad choices. The restaurant technology industry has been expanding at a rapid pace over the past few years, with dozens of new tech solutions and vendors being added seemingly every month. These technology vendors range from one-off solutions (that are more likely to be purchased or merged with a larger company soon) to fully realized companies with a suite of tech features and options for customers. As operator needs for technology options grow, technology integration becomes even more crucial, and vendors that don't play well with others will be left behind. This month, multiple tech companies announced major integrations and mergers, including Soundhound partnering with Olo, PopMenu integrating with OpenTable, and Uber Direct partnering with Deliverect. In other news this month, Canadian all-in-one SaaS Snappy and Superorder (formerly known as forward Kitchens) both announced rounds of funding to spread to new markets and new capabilities, and more.

The top stories in generative AI land this week include: Nvidia Moves up the Stack Picasso and NeMo: Nvidia isn't going just to cash checks for GPU sales related to the generative AI tsunami. They now offer text-to-image and text-to-text models that compete directly with OpenAI, Google, and Stable Diffusion. Omniverse Upgrade: Omniverse is an open platform for 3D design collaboration and real-time physically accurate simulations. It announced new services for creating virtual factories mirroring real-world facilities, the option to stream simulated experiences and train to AI-powered robots, and a simulator for testing autonomous vehicles. Google Teases Gen AI Features and Models Show your PaLMs: Google is now letting testers use its giant large language model (LLM) PaLM. This is the first of Voicebot's voice AI 2022 year-in-review episodes, and today we focus on consumer solutions. There was no lack of news this year, and industry insiders Peachy-Jean Retizos, Tom Hewitson, and Eric Schwartz join me to break it all down for our sixth annual year-in-review show. Amazon's layoffs that impacted the Alexa and devices groups dominated industry discussions late in the year. However, it was just a few months earlier that a similar move by Google drove industry news cycles. The two tech giants have set the tone for voice AI in consumer solutions since 2014, so the pullbacks were big news. We lead off with these stories and how they are reshaping the voice AI consumer sector. While the moves are generally viewed negatively in the market, we also talk about the positive elements and how they were not exactly unexpected. There is also a discussion about what is getting additional focus in 2023 and where the new paths of growth are emerging. However, the tech giants are not the only game in town. SoundHound became a public company in 2022 and became the first large-scale voice AI pureplay to tap into public financial markets since Nuance. Synthetic speech engines had a notable year in terms of customer growth and acquisitions. And large language models are taking natural language in an entirely new direction, plus we hit on a few other topics. It's been a pretty amazing year with highlights and lowlights, and it was good to get some front-line experts in to hash it all out. Enjoy!
#738 WP-Tonic This Week in WordPress & SaaS Special Guest Artur Grabowski of Extendify A Mission To Improve The WordPress User Onboarding Experience WordPress is an open-source platform that powers over 40% of the web. WordPress is becoming the de facto operating system of the web and is supported by a massive ecosystem surrounding the platform. While at Automattic (the company behind WordPress.com), my co-founder and I saw the WordPress ecosystem's power. We founded Extendify to transform WordPress into a superpower for hosts, developers, and users. Before Automattic, my Adobe team led acquisitions and investments in enterprise marketing technologies and next-generation media. We created the Adobe Experience Cloud through a series of transformative acquisitions, and we helped evolve the Adobe Creative Cloud into a modern SaaS platform for creativity through acquisitions and investments in marketplace, 3D, VR, and voice app technologies. I previously worked at Silicon Valley Bank and KeyBanc Capital Markets and started my career in software development at Andeen-Hagerling and Melodies (nka SoundHound). Main Questions For Interview #1 - Artur can you give the listeners and viewers some background info about yourself and Extendify? #2 - What are the significant problems that Extendify is trying to help fix regarding WordPress? #3 - I personally feel that WordPress really does need some help when it comes to improving its onboarding experience at the beginning of 2023 can this be done in core or reality can this only be done by hosting providers, or is a mixture of both doing better? #4 - WordPress isn't a SaaS, and one of the leading drivers in the platform's growth, in my opinion, has been its extensive library of third-party plugins. However, this inherently courses problems when it comes to UX and onboarding experience compared to SaaS applications would you agree with this statement, and are they any fixes? #5 - If you go back to a time machine at the beginning of your career, what advice would you give yourself? #6 - Are there any books, websites, or online recourses that have helped you in your own business development that you like to share with the audience? https://www.linkedin.com/in/artgrab/ https://extendify.com/
This episode features an interview with Nitesh Sharan, CFO at Soundhound, the innovator in voice-enabled AI and conversational intelligence technologies. Nitesh has over 25 years of experience in financial leadership roles. He spent nearly 15 of those at Hewlett Packard where he rose to be Vice President and Assistant Treasurer. And prior to Soundhound, Nitesh served as Nike's CFO of Global Operations an0d Technology. On this episode, Nitesh discusses the preparation for going public during the pandemic, how to protect your company's finances during uncertain times, and how conversational voice AI will play a transformative role in everything from education to the food industry and more.Quotes*”One of the things that is a benefit of being a CFO is you have that agnostic view. You look at the numbers for what they are. You understand what drives growth and profitability. Presumably the CFO has a very acute sense of what investors are looking for, what shareholders are demanding and tying those things together in some kind of numeric, metric-based view. It's very valuable to the company when they are deciding [whether to] invest and go to market, or invest in engineering or whatever capabilities they are trying to allocate resources against. So I think one of the most important things for CFOs is being able to understand the true variables that drive value in the company. and then going and allocating resources heavily against the ones that matter most. And making the harder decisions to move away from the ones that don't. And over time, those things change. And so just staying persistently in the details to understand how those things change is really important.”*”Different is good, and challenge is good. I reflect back on my career and say I grew the most in the most challenging times.”*”We see continuously, particularly in the tech industry, how independent players are able to succeed in different verticals against, in many cases, the big tech who have unlimited resources. Because with laser focused resources, attention, having everybody row in the same direction, there's a lot that can be done, even with a smaller wallet.”*”Even as we build our teams, we emphasize the person who can do more with less, and bring great tools. So whether it's in our planning software, leveraging some great planning tools out there, leveraging technology to make it more efficient to do our SEC filings or whether it's on the treasury side, to navigate, improvements in our cost of payments because we're managing international payment flows, and the foreign exchange friction can be significant if not done thoughtfully.”*”Invest in technology today. It helps you scale much more rapidly with the thinner team. And the output's much better.”*”We're solving long-term solutions for how humans interact with technology. And so we're staying committed to that long-term vision, and yet we're sharpening focus, if anything. And that's what great companies need to be doing, which is when the world pivots a certain way, stay true to the long term vision, but just get sharper, get greater attention on things that matter most and keep sharpening that pencil.”Time Stamps[2:17] Nitesh's path to CFO[15:17] The future of conversational voice AI[18:03] Cash Crossroads: How SoundHound leverages technology to drive growth[27:10] The Playbook: Finance Strategy at SoundHound[35:31] How SoundHound went public during the pandemic[41:43] Quick Hits: Rapid fire questions with Nitesh SharanSponsorThe Invisible Vault is powered by the team at Kyriba, the global leader in cloud treasury and finance solutions, empowering CFOs and their teams to transform how they activate liquidity as a dynamic, real-time vehicle for growth and value creation. Karen Scates, Director of Content Marketing at SoundHound, talks with Jeremy about the role of content marketers during a rebrand.Highlights:How content marketers can contribute to a rebrand by basing messaging on data The obvious but too often overlooked importance of rebuilding the brand around the needs and interests of your key audienceRepurposing old content vs. creating new content during a rebrandLearn more about SoundHoundConnect with Karen on LinkedInMemorable Quotes:"Regardless of why you're rebranding, it's going to be important that the content marketing group be involved because you're gonna carry the message, right? Whatever the rebrand is, whatever the purpose is for it, you're going to be the ones who are really making that transition happen and carrying that message.""I think the other thing that happens is the content team really needs to be looking at what content has been developed before the rebrand, and in some cases there might be a need to really retire something. But, even if you're going to retire something, make sure there's a redirect to something new. But I think there's a lot more value actually in going back through that old content and seeing how you can refresh it to sort of live again within your new rebranded space.""Regardless if it's a rebrand or just a new content strategy, knowing who your audience is and understanding what they want to know and speaking to them, answering their questions instead of using your content as a megaphone for what you want the audience to know about you, what you want the industry to know about you, really providing that value and being that trusted source for people to go to when they have a question."The B2B Content Show is produced by Connversa, a podcast production agency helping B2B brands connecting with prospects, generates TONS of content, and grow revenue.
