Bollywood filmmaker Rohit Shetty's highly-anticipated action thriller series Indian Police Force has postponed its release. The TV series, starring Siddharth Malhotra, Vivek Oberoi, and Shilpa Shetty, was originally scheduled to release on Amazon Prime Video during Diwali 2023. However, the series has been delayed to avoid clashing with the ongoing Cricket World Cup. According to reports, a new release date for Shetty's digital debut will be announced next week.

The film is said to be inspired by the 1989 film, which marked the debut for both leads Khan and Bhagyashree. Dono will be directed by Sooraj Barjatya's son Avnish S. Barjatya. While the lead roles haven't been cast yet, we're told that they would be roping in promising debutants.   Vijay Varma to play a cop in ‘Kaalkoot'Actor Vijay Varma, who recently starred in the hit Netflix film Lust Stories 2, is set to play the lead in the crime drama TV series Kaalkoot. The series will be a JioCinema original helmed by Sumit Saxena. Varma will slip into the role of righteous cop – a far cry from the actor's morally grey on-screen avatars in recent shows. In an interview, the actor remarked that he is on the ‘right side of the law for a change”. Kaalkoot is set to release on JioCinema on 27 July 2023. Prerna Arora wants to make a biopic on Narendra Modi and hopes to cast Amitabh Bachchan to play the PMBollywood producer Prerna Arora, best known for films such as Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and Pari, is in talks to make a biopic on Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. According to reports, Arora is keen on casting Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan to play the lead role. If the biopic does get the green light, it will be the third film biopic on the Prime Minister after the Vivek Oberoi film PM Modi and the TV series titled Modi where Mahesh Thakur played the eponymous lead.  ‘John Wick' spinoff series 'The Continental' announces release date The highly-anticipated John Wick spinoff series, The Continental, is a prequel to the films and it is set in the 1970s. Developed by Greg Coolidge, Kirk Ward and Shawn Simmons, the series stars  Colin Woodell in the lead, with Hollywood veteran Mel Gibson playing the antagonist. Woodell will essay the role of a younger version of Ian McShane's character, Winston Scott. The series will premiere on 23 September 2023 on Peacock and Amazon Prime Video internationally.  Greta Gerwig terrified to helm Netflix's 'Chronicles of Narnia'Greta Gerwig's Barbie released in theatres this week, going head-to-head with Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer. Gerwig, who was once renowned for her indie projects, has now become a mainstream Hollywood filmmaker. She recently signed a deal with Netflix to reboot the iconic Chronicles of Narnia, the franchise based on C S Lewis' fantasy novels. In a recent interview, she revealed that she is terrified of the prospect of adapting the popular story. However, she also revealed that she hopes to tackle a variety of new challenging projects once she has wrapped up Narnia. 'American Psycho' to be adapted into a comic bookChristian Bale's iconic role as the sociopathic killer Patrick Bateman, in the cult classic film gggg American Psycho, has become widely popular on social media recently thanks to the abundance of memes and reels created around the character. It has now been revealed that the film is being adapted into a four-issue comic book by an LA-based publisher Sumerian. The rights for the film and the rights to use Bale's likeness have been acquired by the publisher, to create a sequel to the film. The story will reportedly have two narratives – one showing Bateman's killing spree from a different perspective, and another set in the modern-day. It will also introduce a new female character named Charlie, who leaves a bloody trail of bodies after a drug-fuelled party goes wrong. Verses of War is a 30min Short film based on 2 soldiers their encounters and the love for poetry they both share 'Verses of War' won Best *Film award at Expo 2020 Dubai.* The short film was produced by Vivek Oberoi, who also plays the lead role in it. The film was released on Republic Day and Oberoi contributed its earnings for the welfare of war widows. In this week’s podcast, Abhinandan Sekhri is joined by Anand Vardhan and Manisha Pande. Also joining them is political journalist and author of Politics of Jugaad: The Coalition Handbook, Saba Naqvi.The discussion kicks off with Saba’s new book. Saba also briefly describes the farmers' coalitions and the constant splitting of party members from the Congress that kept it at an unstable position in UP. “Most of us who follow politics seem to believe the change happened with Mandal and Mandir…[however] The history of this [coalitions]… goes back to the late sixties,” she says.Abhinandan asks Anand whether coalitions can form a “stable government”. He also asks him about Bihar politics. “Coalitions depend on the reciprocity of interest,” responds Anand, and further mentions that politicians must embody reciprocal interests in case situations for a coalition arise. He also mentions that the only benefit with “stable governments” is that the policies for different stakeholders are kept constant and that these stakeholders know what to expect from the Budget.Anand also talks about the “dramatic stage in Lalu’s family”—sibling rivalry between brothers Tej Pratap Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav. Saba seeks Anand’s opinion on Kanhaiya Kumar contesting from Begusarai. He thinks Kanhaiya Kumar has a chance and remarks: “Anyone who comes from Bihar in his twenties is a careerist.” He also mentions the demographic factors, political history of Begusarai and determinants of other contestants like Giriraj Singh and Tanveer Hasan.Further, Abhinandan asks Saba about the election campaign in UP. She responds: “there is no one campaign …the demographics are changing seat by seat." She lists a few unexpected elements that have happened like the SP and BSP coalition, Priyanka Gandhi’s arrival, Muzaffarnagar’s muslim vote turn-out and the likes.The panel discusses the spread of propaganda through popular culture like Eros Now’s series Modi: Journey of a Common Man and Omung Kumar’s movie, PM Narendra Modi. Manisha says: “EC’s model code of conduct applies to the Government that it cannot use Doordarshan to propagate Narendra Modi’s speeches,” as that uses taxpayer’s money. However in the case of such movies, “…These are private citizens who can launch a movie whenever they want to.”“The role of propaganda or any form of political communication can be of a force multiplier…it cannot win you elections,” remarks Anand. He believes that the consumptions of news and the influence it exerts on the voting decisions of people is not directly correlated. Saba, however, disagrees. “There is too much data to the contrary to show that television slants and propaganda influence voters,” says Abhinandan.With reference to Congress’ manifesto on AFSPA, Manisha tells us that it reads: “they will remove immunity for enforced disappearance, sexual violence and torture,” and the panel believes it to be “absolutely reasonable”.
