Send us a Question!PARTY PLEASER: Shirleon joins Melvin to summarize a late-90s retelling-with-a-twist adaptation of a beloved fairytale: Snow White: A Tale of Terror! From its surprisingly nuanced characters to its downright diabolical antagonist, the two enjoy discussing the horrific ins-and-outs of this late-20th century oddity! Topics:The opening tone-setter for Snow White: A Tale of Terror really sells the atmosphere of dark fantasy.Interestingly, the opening dynamic between Claudia, the "Evil Queen" equivalent, and Lilli, the "Snow White" equivalent, is more of Claudia seeking a good relationship with Lilli while Lilli acts consistently bratty.Once the movie goes grimdark, it doesn't stop topping itself with bizarre dark fantasy ideas.Discussing why they think classic fairytale villains, Disney or otherwise, are so compelling. The film is undeniably a horror film, but it's largely psychological with some horror-lite sequences. The "Seven Dwarves" equivalent are essentially Highwaymen, and each one has some form of physical deformity or ailment which contrasts with Claudia's unabashed vanity. The whole "catatonic Snow White" sequence that the fairytale is famous for starts and ends near immediately. The film is loaded with "show don't tell", but sometimes it's to a fault.Recommendations:Fairest of All by Serena Valentino (2009) (Book)Mirror, Mirror by Jen Calonia (2019) (Book)Event Horizon (1997) (Movie) Support the showSupport on Patreon for Unique Perks! durée : 00:04:12 - Blanche-Neige au miroir du classique et la comédie musicale - par : Max Dozolme - Tandis que la comédie musicale de Blanche-Neige réalisée par Marc Webb ne semble pas connaître un grand succès en salle et dans la presse, écoutons la musique du premier film de Disney (1937) et comparons là à des airs de Tchaïkovski et de Cole Porter ! Miroir, mon beau miroir...
Earth's Mightiest Critics emerge from the mines of pop culture controversy to deliver a detailed look at Snow White! And because this is a special "Here We Go Again" episode, we'll see how Marc Webb's 2025 film compares to Disney's foundational 1937 animated feature, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs! In the new movie, Rachel Zegler stars as Snow White, whose kingdom was transformed by the Evil Queen (Gal Gadot) from an "apples for everyone" utopia into a capitalist hellscape of brute-strength tax enforcement.(Yes, you read that right). The would-be princess leads a proletariat revolution of banished thieves, magical animals, and the formerly eponymous dwarfs to reclaim the land. There is also shoehorned singing, a magic mirror, and an "eeeww-do-we- have-to?" romance with not-a-Prince (Andrew Burnap). Is this the most audacious and revisionist of the so-called "live-action" Disney remakes? If so, is that necessarily a bad thing? Perspectives are as varied as the hand-drawn raindrops in the '37 cartoon--and we'll tackle as many of them as possible.Join us for a grumpy, dopey, (but never sleepy) spoilerific review that's guaranteed to be the fairest of them all! We present our Snow White (2025) review! Disney's Snow White, or simply Snow White, is a 2025 American musical fantasy film directed by Marc Webb and written by Erin Cressida Wilson. Produced by Walt Disney Pictures and Marc Platt Productions, it is a live-action reimagining of Walt Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which itself is based on the 1812 fairy tale "Snow White" by the Brothers Grimm. Starring Rachel Zegler in the titular role, with Andrew Burnap and Gal Gadot, it follows the pure-hearted Snow White who joins forces with seven dwarfs and a bandit named Jonathan to free her kingdom from her cruel stepmother.Plans for a remake of 1937's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs were confirmed in October 2016, with Wilson announced as a screenwriter. Webb entered talks to direct the film in May 2019 and was announced as director in September 2019. Filming took place primarily in London, England, from March to July 2022, with additional filming and pick-ups taking place in June 2024. With an estimated production budget of $240–270 million, Snow White is one of the most expensive films ever made and Disney's fifteenth most expensive to date. The film elicited several controversies leading up to its release, with criticism against the color-blind casting, story changes, Zegler's public critiques of the original film, Zegler and Gadot's political views, and reimagining of the Seven Dwarfs.Snow White premiered at Alcázar of Segovia in Segovia, Spain, on March 12, 2025, and was released in the United States by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures on March 21, 2025. It has received mixed reviews from critics and has grossed $87.3 million worldwide.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsohttps://www.teepublic.com/user/radulich-in-broadcasting-networkFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76RIBN Album Playlist: https://suno.com/playlist/91d704c9-d1ea-45a0-9ffe-5069497bad59

Everyone's most anticipated movie of the year (wink, wink) - SNOW WHITE, starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot - has released in theaters. Listen, I watched Snow White about as much as any guy when I was younger, but I haven't exactly kept it as a favorite since I was like 5 years old. Also, I'm completely sick of Disney live-action remakes and had less than no interest going into this movie. I do love Marc Webb as a filmmaker though, even though I don't love all his movies, because he's fantastic at creating realistic character relationships onscreen. Snow White, though, wasn't ever exactly going to be the best showcase of his skills. So, did Snow White surpass my rock bottom expectations?

We conclude our Four Play Spit Roast arc with a film that Roger Ebert inexplicably gave four stars, director Marc Webb's (500) Days of Summer from 2009. Richard, Thorin, and Monte all loathe this film for its poor writing, acting, and non-existent character arcs. A relic of hipster culture from the late 2000s, the hosts discuss the subculture from which this movie emerged and how it ends up as anti-art. Some consider this film a cult classic, we consider it absolute garbage. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Director Ned Benson discusses his new film, The Greatest Hits, with fellow Director Marc Webb in a Q&A at the DGA theater in Los Angeles. In the conversation, he discusses filming at landmark Los Angeles locations to ingrain the city as part of the story, working with the cinematographer to artistically convey the time traveling sequences, and working with his composer to craft a soundtrack that compliments a musically-inclined story. The film tells the story of Harriet, who discovers that specific songs can transport her to the past to relive cherished moments with her former partner. But after meeting someone new in the present, she struggles to decide whether to alter the past and reclaim what she lost, or make peace with it and move on.

|| ASSINE O SALA VIP DO RAPADURACAST- Um podcast EXCLUSIVO do RapaduraCast toda semana! http://patreon.com/rapaduracast
Now that awards season is underway in Hollywood – Oscar nominations were announced Tuesday – our spotlight will be on movie and TV directors with Indiana connections. The filmmakers range from directors of movies from the Golden Age of Hollywood such as the holiday classic "Miracle on 34th Street" (1947) and "To Have and Have Not" (1944) to popular hits like "The Amazing Spiderman" (2012). "Miracle on 34th Street" was directed by George Seaton (1911-1979), who was born in South Bend. Although the movie has become a Christmas classic, it was not initially released during the holiday season and was not promoted with yuletide as a focus. Nelson's guest, Dan O'Brien, a screenwriter and former TV sportscaster based in Greenwood, will explain why. In addition to being a director, George Seaton was a screenwriter and won an Oscar for his screenplay for "Miracle on 34th Street". He also won an Oscar for his screenplay for "The Country Girl" (1954) starring Grace Kelly and Bing Crosby; Seaton directed that movie as well. Other movie directors we will spotlight include Howard Hawks (1896-1977), whose ancestors helped found Goshen, Ind., where he was born. Although Hawks primarily is remembered as a director of Westerns (several starred John Wayne, including "Red River" and "Rio Bravo"), Hawks was known for his versatility. His other hits include "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" (1953) starring Marilyn Monroe as well as "To Have and Have Not" (1944) that teamed Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall for the first time.
Director Francis Lawrence discusses his new film, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, with fellow Director Marc Webb in a Q&A at the DGA theater in Los Angeles. In the conversation, he discusses capturing a retro-futuristic visual aesthetic, utilizing his camera language while swapping between two main character points of view, and his visualization and rehearsal process for stunt work and action scenes. In this prequel to the popular franchise, a young Coriolanus Snow mentors for the 10th Hunger Games and develops feelings for the female tribute from District 12, Lucy Gray Baird, years before he becomes the tyrannical president of Panem. And the story plays out in flashbacks to memories of the relationship. The main character, Tom, meets Summer after she becomes the new hire at his job, a paper greeting card company. They start seeing each other, but Summer says she doesn't believe in love and so it's casual even though Tom wants more than that. They end up arguing and breaking up and Summer quits her job at their company. The next time they see each other, Tom notices an engagement ring, which raises all the questions about why she wouldn't want to settle down with him, but felt true love with someone else. When Tom does meet someone new, he finds out her name is Autumn. The movie came out in 2009 and stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Tom and Zooey Deschanel as Summer. It was directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay written by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, and produced by Mark Waters. It's an indie movie that premiered at Sundance, and was picked up by Fox Searchlight Pictures. It's generally considered a sleeper hit, and brought in $60 million worldwide. It had had a $7.5 million budget. What B2B Companies Can Learn From 500 Days of Summer: The buying journey is often non-linear, so meet the customer where they are. Ian says, “People want that extremely organized fashion, and other people don't. You as the marketer need to plan those different pathways and journeys, and to be able to tell stories in the moments that matter.” It's like how in 500 Days of Summer, the story is told in flashbacks to Tom and Summer's relationship. In the beginning, the viewer needs to see the positive parts of their relationship to understand Tom's attachment to the relationship. And then as the story goes along, we see the disconnects and the miscommunications, the more negative parts of the relationship. That's how the viewer understands that Tom is falling out of love with Summer and healing from the breakup. So as the marketer, you need to highlight the moments that matter for your customers and meet them where they are in their buying journey.Present your products honestly and transparently. Over-hyping your products in marketing is misleading, and ultimately leads to disappointment where customers aren't likely to return. April ties this back to 500 Days of Summer when she says, “Tom idealized his relationship with Summer. We fall into that trap when we're over-hyping our products or solutions to potential clients, when honesty and transparency are crucial in building trust.” So though it's tempting to play up your products to get higher engagement and sales, don't do it. Present their real benefits and you'll earn audience trust. Incorporate real stories. 500 Days of Summer was inspired by a real relationship screenplay writer Scott Neustadter was in while studying in London. April says that “because it was a real story, it was relatable to me. We should be doing the same thing. We should be doing this with our clients, with our content. It adds a human touch. It resonates deeply, I think, when you can actually incorporate real stories behind it.” So add that human touch to your marketing by including real stories in it. It makes your content more relatable and more human.Quotes*”We should always focus on emotional connections and relatable storytelling, whether that's B2B content or B2C content. To make an emotional connection with your audience no matter who they are.” - April Weber*“500 Days of Summer made us laugh. It made us feel sad. And it definitely makes you reminisce about your own experience, which is a great way to have any kind of content. If you can get in all the emotions at once, that's awesome.” - April WeberTime Stamps[0:55] Meet April Weber, Integrated Marketing Manager at Infobip [1:40] Why are we talking about 500 Days of Summer?[4:13] What is April responsible for at Infobip? Mostly Superheroes https://www.youtube.com/@mostlysuperheroesSponsored by www.betterhelp.com/TheBarnSpider-Man, one of Marvel Comics' most iconic superheroes, has captured the hearts of audiences through numerous film adaptations over the years. From the early days of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy to the recent collaborations between Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios, the Spider-Man movies have delighted fans with their thrilling action, heartfelt storytelling, and exploration of the beloved character's journey. This summary will provide an overview of the Spider-Man film franchise and highlight the key elements that have made these movies so popular. The first Spider-Man film was released in 2002, directed by Sam Raimi and starring Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker, the young high school student who gains incredible spider-like powers after being bitten by a genetically modified spider. "Spider-Man" introduced audiences to the origins of the character, his struggles with responsibility, and his iconic battles against villains such as the Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe) and Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina). The film was a massive success, blending action, romance, and a genuine portrayal of the beloved web-slinger.The success of the first film led to two equally well-received sequels, "Spider-Man 2" (2004) and "Spider-Man 3" (2007). "Spider-Man 2" continued Peter Parker's journey as he balanced his personal life and his duty as Spider-Man, battling the dangerous Doctor Octopus. The film received critical acclaim for its character development, emotional depth, and stunning action sequences. "Spider-Man 3" faced some criticism for its crowded storyline and excessive villains but still managed to entertain audiences with its epic battles and Peter's internal struggle against his dark side.In 2012, the franchise underwent a reboot with "The Amazing Spider-Man," directed by Marc Webb and starring Andrew Garfield as the titular hero. The film presented a fresh take on the character's origins, exploring Peter Parker's relationship with Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) and his battles against the Lizard (Rhys Ifans). "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" (2014) continued the story, introducing the electrifying villain Electro (Jamie Foxx) and delving further into Peter's past. Despite the film's mixed reception, Garfield's portrayal of Spider-Man was widely praised.Following the lukewarm response to "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios reached an agreement to incorporate Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Tom Holland was cast as the new Spider-Man, making his debut in "Captain America: Civil War" (2016) and subsequently appearing in "Spider-Man: Homecoming" (2017), "Spider-Man: Far From Home" (2019), and "Spider-Man: No Way Home" (2021).The MCU iteration of Spider-Man revitalized the character, capturing the essence of a young Peter Parker navigating high school, superhero life, and mentorship under Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.). "Spider-Man: Homecoming" received acclaim for its humor, refreshing take on the character, and the compelling villain Vulture (Michael Keaton). "Spider-Man: Far From Home" expanded Peter's world, taking him on a global adventure while introducing the enigmatic Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal). These films showcased the interconnectedness of the MCU, providing a wider narrative landscape for Spider-Man.The most recent installment, "Spider-Man: No Way Home," further embraced the multiverse concept, bringing back fan-favorite characters from previous Spider-Man films, including Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker and Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man. The film delved into the consequences of PThis episode is sponsored by www.betterhelp.com/TheBarn and presented to you by The Barn Media Group.
Through its obsession with pop culture, director Marc Webb's "(500) Days of Summer" is as much about romcoms as it is a romcom itself, full of stylistic flourishes, "Annie Hall"-like experimentation and non-linear structuring gimmicks. In this episode, Mike and Brian discuss how that approach informs the movie's central coming-of-age themes, they talk cultural mile markers, how Webb and screenwriters Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber are able to make light of young love/first heartbreak without discrediting the experience and, finally, they decide whether or not this film will make their top fives of 2009.
