In this episode of the Arsenal Women Arsecast, Tim and Jamie discuss Sunday's 4-1 win at Leicester and consider how much of a step forward the performance and result are. There is discussion of Stina Blackstenius' five star display and how Arsenal exploited space around the sides of Leicester's back three, the performance of Taylor Hinds at right-back and use of Russo as more of a second striker than a 10. In the second half, Tim and Jamie take your questions and look ahead to Saturday's must win game at home to Chelsea.Get extra bonus content and help support Arseblog's award winning coverage of Arsenal Women by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblog Hosted on Acast. In this episode we look back on the 2-0 win over Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday. The goals came from Viktor Gyokeres and Declan Rice, and the Gunners probably should have scored more. The chat about the first 45 minutes which won the game for Arsenal, the 'non-event' second half, but which is a demonstration of the control this team is capable of, and yet another clean sheet without a shot on target. There's a wider discussion about the way this side is operating this season, questions about Rice and his midfield impact, Myles Lewis-Skelly with real competition at left-back, Leandro Trossard causing some frustration, rotation for the Champions League this week, our disciplinary record this season, and loads more.Get extra bonus content and help support Arseblog by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblog Hosted on Acast. The Mayor of FPL Tom Campbell guest hosts the Gameweek Review Podcast this week with James to discuss the fallout from the 9 games played in Gameweek 10, and it featured some shocking performances, none worse than James' Tottenham who limply lost to Chelsea. Newcastle can also lay claim to a shocker as they were beaten at West Ham yesterday, whilst there were important wins for Liverpool and Manchester City, but they are no closer to an Arsenal side who won to nil at Burnley. There's an FPL overview on every side that played, short-term punts to consider, the genuine merits of owning players like Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo, the appeal of forwards versus midfielders, Crystal Palace assets and lots more. Plus, Tom took on an unusual challenge in FPL this season, and though it hasn't worked as hoped, he's finding enjoying playing more than he did last season. Manchester City formally announced their intention to be part of this season's Premier League title race with a stunning showing against a brave Bournemouth at the Etihad on Sunday. An Erling Haaland brace, twinned with an excellent Nico O'Reilly strike ensured that Pep Guardiola's side went second in the top flight, just six points behind leaders Arsenal. Cherries were excellent for significant parts of the game, but City's Catalan controller flooded the midfield, deploying a high-risk and high reward tactic, which overpowered Iraola's charges in the middle of the pitch, leaving Haaland free to do what he does best. Despite the result, there is A LOT that AFCB can take from the performance, as Sam and Tom explain in this week's Second Look. I La Liga ser man stor utvikling hos Real Madrid.
Erling Haaland, Matty Cash, Wolverhampton. Dharmesh Sheth is joined by Charlie Wyett, Dominic King and Carl Anka to reflect on the weekend's sporting action. We start with Liverpool's much needed victory against Aston Villa; the shocking run is over, but is this a real turning point for Liverpool? Attention then shifts to Arsenal's win at Burnley. Charlie praises Gyokeres' impressive first half, and after a ninth win and seventh consecutive clean sheet, Carl suggests stopping Arsenal is going to be very hard. Then we turn to an unhappy Sean Dyche, after a 2-2 draw against Man United. Carl believes the ball hadn't crossed the line before Casemiro's controversially awarded opening goal.Next up, another defeat for Wolves at Craven Cottage leaves relegation to the Championship looking increasingly likely, and Charlie asks: who would want to take Vítor Pereira's job?We then look to Tottenham, who were booed off at home after a 1-0 defeat to Maresca's Chelsea. With images of Djed Spence and Micky van de Ven walking straight past Thomas Frank at full-time, is the Spurs boss losing the dressing room? And finally, we ask, who's to blame for the revival of long-ball football?*At the time of recording, Vítor Pereira had not yet been dismissed from his position at Wolves.Sunday Supplement is a Sky Sports podcast. This season, the conversations are all about Arsenal's aptitude, Liverpool's lull, brilliant Bournemouth, and sumptuous Sunderland - no one is talking about Manchester City, but whisper it, this is exactly what Pep Guardiola will be wanting... City are somewhat flying under the radar, and whilst the recent loss against Aston Villa will have been been disappointing, they are still in touching distance of leaders Arsenal - but whilst Erling Haaland is in the form of his life and players are coming back from injury, Pep's side somehow still seem to be the forgotten side in this season's absorbing Premier League campaign. AFC Bournemouth have NEVER won at the Etihad, and we've only taken a point against Manchester City away back in 1989. Plus, for most, if not all - of our visits, Cherries have always been below the Citizens in the table. This season though, Boscombe are second and City are fifth... What if actually win this? Is the gauge of where we are REALLY at and point to where we could possibly be? Sam and Tom are at the Queens Park and Q Sports Bar to preview Sunday's huge game! Arsenal Need to Deal with the Title Race Storm Amid Fixture Chaos ft Art de Roche & Ed Aarons
In this episode I'm joined by Andrew Allen to chat about Wednesday evening's 2-0 win over Brighton in the Carabao Cup. We chat about Mikel Arteta's team selection, which saw 10 changes from the team that beat Crystal Palace on Sunday, and included a 15 year old and a 17 year old debutant. Two 'older' young players combined for the opening goal, before Bukayo Saka made it safe. We discuss the game, the performance, the draw for the next round, Arsenal's defensive record and lots more. Then, on the reissue of his book about Highbury, I chat to Jon Spurling about the old stadium, its place in Arsenal hearts and the community, some of the stories within the book itself, and how it all relates to the new stadium. Plus you can win a copy of the book too.Highbury is published by Orion – https://www.orionbooks.co.uk/titles/jon-spurling/highbury/9781409153061/ – and if possible please order the book via your local independent bookstore!Get extra bonus content and help support Arseblog by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblog Hosted on Acast. EXCLUSIVE NordVPN Deal ➼ https://nordvpn.com/thefightingcock Try it risk-free now with a 30-day money-back guarantee! We came in hot after Newcastle. We talked about why we look solid at the back and dangerous from set pieces, then why the other 80 percent of football is killing us right now. Spence showed good stuff but the shoelace corner is on us. Xavi needs minutes and patience. The physical step up is real and we need more ball users around him. We get into the striker problem, January hopes, and who actually moves the needle. Frank's job was to make us harder to beat and he has, but we still need patterns and punch in open play. Then it is the Chelsea preview. Possession to them suits us in theory, the hoodoo does not. Can we treat it like an away game at home and nick it with Kudus, Kolo Muani and a set piece or two. There is a Reddit mailbag that goes off the rails, a NordVPN read that saves your hard drive and your marriage, and some halftime confessionals about the goals we missed while chasing beer and pizza. We finish with a little perspective on expectations, timelines and why we should probably stop hate-watching Arsenal for our own health. Learn more about your ad choices.
