Having social media presence under any capacity does create its share of issues. But I never expected blatant censorship and shadow-banning would be one of them. Social media is not exactly the friendliest place for socially aware Muslims and those POC who refuse to stay silent on social justice issues. In this episode I highlight some of the hurdles I have personally faced when trying to raise awareness about the plight of the Palestinian people, and I'm just a small time creator! I welcome my guest, Saira Sufi, to take a deep dive into the discussion of how one of her twin son's diagnoses of a rare bone marrow disorder, Aplastic Anemia led her and her remaining son to become staunch advocates for bone marrow donations. Recruiting bone marrow donors of racial minorities is important, because finding bone marrow matches for minorities and mixed race individuals is especially hard. This is why Saira works hard to raise awareness and to recruit as many people to be bone marrow donors as possible. This episode is a testament to the fortitude of a family in memory of a very special young boy.To find out more about being a bone marrow donor please visit the following website and consider being a donor yourself. Daniel MacQueen is a motivational speaker and podcast host from Vancouver.  He lived in London, England in 2014 when he was diagnosed with a non-cancerous cyst that required urgent brain surgery.  Daniel was in a coma for four weeks and had to learn how to walk, talk, and smile again.   He is sharing his journey of how he successfully navigated finding the motivation when he was learning to talk again, how difficult the transition was when returning home after several months in the hospital, and inspiring others who may be facing a similar challenge.   Daniel's podcast, “Play Loose, Look Tight” can be found on your favorite podcast app.   He's moving forward with intention and purpose helping change the way people view their setbacks.   Daniel has found there's nothing like a brain hemorrhage to refocus the mind.   Learn more about Daniel on his website: Macqueendan.com Guest Bio: At 28, Dan was leading a healthy, active life. After an optometrist appointment to identify the cause of his persistent headaches was cut short, he was handed a sealed envelope and told to go directly to the hospital. What followed, was emergency brain surgery. On June 21, 2014, Dan's reality was shattered by a devastating brain hemorrhage. With no map to guide him on the grueling path to recovery, Dan had to rely on his grit, perseverance, and resilience to relearn everything he once knew: how to walk, talk and even smile.   Dan has survived two emergency brain surgeries, weeks in a coma, and months in a rehab hospital. What he found out along the way might surprise you: there is nothing like a brain injury to refocus the mind! Driven by a positive mindset, Dan battled through excruciating rehab exercises to rebuild his life and return to a job he loved.   He's grateful for the doctors who saved him and the friends and family who supported him. Now he wants to pay it forward. The tools Dan used to build back his life can be used by anyone facing challenges. He will reveal strategies to help you or your team be #BetterThanYesterday and achieve your goals, one step at a time. His action-oriented life hacks will help you tackle anything you face.   Through his talks, Dan has inspired groups at the @NHS London Wolfsen rehabilitation centre, @Headway - West London, a Brain injury association, @Hootsuite, a social media management company and @Spendesk a Fintech SaaS company based in London. His audiences were moved and uplifted by Dan's story and ready to use his practical approaches to triumph over adversity.    Join Dan to learn how changing your perspective can activate your resilience. ___________________ Subscribe to this podcast and download your favorite episodes to listen to later: Apple  Spotify  RSS Feed  ___________________   ⚕️ Are you a woman healthcare professional who is struggling to juggle everything in your personal and professional life?

We talk about her living the alternative, Muslim lifestyle and how she became embroiled in a little bit of controversy through expressing her opinions on Faith and noted religious figures in her TikTok videos. This episode explores the deep ins and outs of human prejudices and how it often blinds us to what reality is. That, in life, being a "good Muslim" is more than just about appearances, and a fade and septum piercing should not exclude you from that category. To explore Aicha's art please visit her website and Instagram:https://www.mooselimworks.ca/https://www.instagram.com/mooselim.works/You can also follow her TikTok account here:https://www.tiktok.com/@canadian.mooselimYou can also watch this episode on my YouTube channel here:https://youtu.be/Qi6C-WYwPH0Support the show (https://paypal.me/creativecookiejar?locale.x=en_US)
