In this episode, we explore how our physical bodies carry the weight of our life experiences—including trauma, stress, and unexpressed emotion. We dive into the power of somatic practices to release these blocks, the spiritual initiation of motherhood, and how to turn simple daily habits into sacred rituals that restore your nervous system.Key Takeaways:How the body stores emotion, trauma, and stress in physical ways that can be released through somatic practices like breathwork, Reiki, movement, and bodyworkWhy pregnancy and motherhood are deeply spiritual experiences that require both strength and surrenderHow breathwork and somatic healing can unlock buried memories, emotional breakthroughs, and profound nervous system healingHow small daily rituals — like movement, cacao, candle magic, journaling, hot water, or nature walks — can become powerful spiritual practiceWhy learning to receive support, care, healing, and nourishment is a major part of the spiritual journeyConnect With Dayluna here!@d.a.y.l.u.n.aConnect With Steffi (aka Spirit Sis)Instagram: @spirit_sisTikTok: @spiritsis Website: spiritsis.com

Send us Fan MailYou've done the work. You know it's over. So why can't you let go?If you're capable, accomplished, and still stuck in an old identity, a career, a relationship, a version of you that no longer fits, this episode names the one thing no one talks about. It isn't fear. It isn't lack of clarity. It isn't that you're not ready. It's judgment, and it's held in your body, not your mind.In this episode, Dr. Amen Kaur names why high-achieving women stay glued to the old life even when they know it's hurting them, and why "thinking your way out" doesn't work. Drawing on the neuroscience of Stephen Porges (polyvagal theory and neuroception), Bessel van der Kolk (The Body Keeps the Score), and Kristin Neff's research on self-compassion, she shows why your nervous system runs the old programme until it gets a new experience, and how compassion (not positive thinking) is the actual release. In this episode:Why "I know but I can't move" is a body problem, not a mindset problemThe two layers of judgment keeping you stuck (and which one is louder)Why affirmations don't land when your body is in survivalThe marathon analogy: why your body refuses to start a race it hasn't trained forThe handbrake metaphor: there's nothing wrong with your engineHow self-compassion lowers cortisol and brings the thinking brain back onlineOne question to ask the next time you feel that grip in your bodyFree masterclass: learn how to retrain your body to move forward. What if your past isn't just remembered—but physically carried with you every day?In Episode 285, Mike and Mark dive into The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk, a transformative exploration of how trauma shapes the brain, body, and our perception of the world. This episode challenges the idea that trauma is “just a story” and instead reveals how deeply it influences our reactions, relationships, and sense of self. From understanding your personal “map of the world” to learning how to release stored stress through movement, imagination, and even body positioning—this conversation is both eye-opening and practical. If you've ever felt stuck in patterns you can't explain, or sensed that something from the past is still holding you back, this episode offers a powerful framework for awareness, healing, and forward momentum. Now more than ever, understanding how to process and release what we carry is essential—not just for growth, but for living fully.Key ThemesTrauma as perception, not just memoryThe “map of the world” shaped by past experiencesHow trauma physically alters the brain and bodyEmotional pain as a full-body experienceGetting “stuck” in patterns of thought and behaviorHealing through movement, imagination, and creativityThe power of body language and posture in emotional statesAwareness and choice as tools for transformationConcepts & BreakthroughsOne of the most profound ideas in this episode is that trauma is not simply an event—it is the way the brain adapts to that event. As Bessel explains, our minds construct a “map of the world” based on past experiences, and that map determines how we interpret everything that follows. Two people can experience the same situation and walk away with completely different realities. This becomes especially important when trauma is unresolved. It doesn't stay in the past—it shows up in present reactions, often disproportionate to the situation. As discussed in the episode, someone may react strongly not because of what's happening now, but because of what happened years ago.Another key breakthrough is the understanding that trauma lives in the body. Feelings like anxiety, dread, or stress are not abstract—they manifest physically: tight shoulders, shallow breathing, or a clenched gut. As highlighted in the transcript, “heartbreak” and “gut-wrenching” are not just metaphors—they are literal bodily experiences .Healing, therefore, cannot be purely intellectual. It must involve the body. Movement, breathwork, and physical awareness become essential tools for releasing stored trauma. Even posture plays a role—standing upright, opening the chest, and adopting a “position of joy” can directly influence emotional state.Perhaps the most liberating idea explored is the concept of breaking out of the “trauma trap.” Through imagination, creativity, and even theatrical expression, we can step into new roles and identities. This creates distance from old patterns and opens the door to new ways of being.Habits, Tools & Mental Models1. The “Map of the World” CheckRegularly question your interpretation of events. Ask: Is this reality, or my past shaping my perception?2. Trauma Detox PracticeJust like physical detox, emotional detox requires intentional effort—through journaling, movement, or conversation.3. Body Awareness ScansNotice where stress lives in your body. Shoulders, neck, and gut are common signals of unresolved tension.4. Intercept the Thought LoopWhen revisiting past pain, consciously interrupt the pattern. Redirect attention before it spirals.Become a Member of the Moonshots Podcast:https://www.patreon.com/Moonshots

In this episode of The Spiritual Cupcake Podcast, Candace reflects on a nostalgic reel her friend Miranda sent her that read: “Born in the 80s, raised in the 90s, partied in the 2000s… no camera phones, no regrets, no proof.” While the message might spark a laugh or a sense of freedom from a time before everything was documented, it also raises a deeper truth. Even if there were no cameras capturing those moments, the experiences themselves didn't disappear. The memories, emotions, and impressions often live on within our bodies and subconscious. Candace shares how many of us carry unseen stories, feelings, and patterns that quietly become our baseline. Over time, we may not even realize how much weight we're holding because it simply becomes normal. This episode is a gentle invitation to become curious about what might be stored within you. By mining your inner world with compassion and awareness, you may discover opportunities to process old experiences, release heaviness, and create more lightness in your life. Even without proof, your body remembers. And sometimes the most healing thing we can do is lovingly explore what's been living within us all along.

Kristi Sager thought she was getting her power back when she got breast implants in 2017. Pregnancy had changed her body. Divorce had shaken her identity. And when a breast lump needed removal, she saw the perfect opportunity to "fix" herself outwardly instead of doing the internal work she actually needed. Years later, chronic illness forced her to face a truth most women don't want to hear: your body keeps the score. The implants weren't just sitting there. They were contributing to systemic inflammation that affected everything from her energy to her nervous system. After explant surgery, Kristi developed the BREST method, a framework that goes beyond physical healing to address the conditioning, breathwork, embodiment, and self-sovereignty required for real transformation. This conversation gets into the perfect storm that leads women to implants, the justifications we use to avoid deeper work, and why healing your whole self matters more than any quick fix. Send us a textYour body has been trying to talk to you—through tight shoulders, the jaw that clicks, and the tears that show up in a hip opener. We invited somatic therapist and hypnotherapist Megan Sherer to help us translate those signals into clarity, relief, and real change. Together we explore how emotions live in the nervous system and in fascia, the connective tissue that touches every muscle, organ, and nerve. When safety and movement return, that energy releases as heat, tremor, or tears. We dig into the difference between being trauma informed and trauma trained, why certain breathwork styles can overwhelm without the right container, and where talk therapy helps—and where it stalls. Megan walks us through attachment styles without turning them into identity traps. We also connect ancient wisdom and modern science, linking meridians and qigong to fascial lines, and bring nuance to cortisol and stress physiology. Most importantly, we share a simple starting point: honor your body's basic cues. Eat when you're hungry, rest when you're tired, pee when you need to, step away when you're overloaded. That small honesty builds interoception and trust so bigger emotions feel safer to process. Join host Charna Cassell for a raw and eye opening conversation with Margaret Bronson, founder of Deconstruction Doulas. Margaret grew up inside a high control Christian cult and survived domestic violence, child abuse, excommunication, and the long psychological fallout of authoritarian religion. Now she guides others through the same dismantling of belief systems that once owned them. In this episode, Margaret unpacks how she and her husband developed somatic practices to help survivors heal the trauma stored in the body after years of purity culture, spiritual coercion, and obedience enforced through shame and fear. She breaks down what truly happens inside high control religious communities and why so many people leaving them feel like they're stepping out of a parallel universe. This conversation also dives into the political reality many of us are waking up to. Margaret explains how the same ideology that shaped her childhood is now embedded in Project 2025, Christian Reconstructionism, and the growing Trad Wife movement. She outlines the playbook of modern theocrats and shows how personal trauma and national policy are intertwined when religion is weaponized. If you're feeling a visceral reaction to Project 2025, this episode will help you understand why. Margaret offers grounding tools, embodied healing practices, and a clear-eyed look at what we're facing as the country edges closer to an openly theocratic agenda. Tune in for a fierce, validating, and deeply necessary conversation for anyone untangling from religious trauma or trying to make sense of this political moment. Our bodies are incredibly honest, and they keep score of how we live our lives. If we are not being truthful with ourselves or using our voice to say what we need to say, our bodies will speak for us. Pain, illness, or discomfort is often our body's way of showing us where we are out of alignment with our soul. In this episode, I talk about how ignoring our truth can show up in the body and why it is so important to check in with ourselves regularly.I also dive into practical ways to listen to your body and understand what it is trying to tell you. From noticing patterns in relationships to examining what you truly desire versus what you think you should want, I guide you on how to align your actions with your inner truth. If you want to prevent illness, release tension, and live more authentically, this episode will give you the tools to start paying attention and taking care of yourself in a deeper way.IN THIS EPISODE:(0:00) Introduction and welcome to tuning into your body's truth(0:45) The importance of honesty with yourself and your healing journey(1:21) Listening to your body's signals and what they're trying to tell you(1:48) Aligning with your true desires and living from soul truth(3:15) Checking in with yourself to prevent stress, pain, and sickness(4:06) Conclusion and final thoughts on body awareness and alignment

Did you know that by the time you reach midlife, your nervous system has been storing trauma responses for decades - even if you can't identify a single "traumatic" event? What if the chronic back pain, autoimmune issues, and stubborn weight gain plaguing so many midlife women aren't just random health problems, but your nervous system's way of expressing stored survival responses from years past? In this insightful conversation, Dr. Aimie Apigian reveals how seemingly normal childhood experiences - from crying yourself to sleep as a baby in the 1970s to being a latchkey kid - can create lasting biological changes that show up as health issues decades later through stored trauma in your nervous system. We dive into the science behind trauma, its long-term biological effects, and the importance of addressing trauma at different levels – mind, body, and biology and how accumulative, often unrecognized trauma can impact our health, aging, emotional regulation, and relationships.  Discover why your nervous system might still be stuck in survival mode, keeping you vulnerable to injuries, illnesses, and that constant underlying anxiety. Dr. Aimie explains the science behind why some people seem immune to health issues while others collect diagnoses, and most importantly, what nervous system healing can actually do about stored trauma.   Catch the full episode on YOUTUBE HERE: https://bit.ly/MidlifeConversationsYouTube    Learn More About Dr. Aimie Apigian:    Instagram ➜ https://www.instagram.com/draimie   Website ➜  https://biologyoftrauma.com/  Thank you to our show sponsors! The state of our nervous system impacts the predictions that we're making about the people and the world around us. And the work lies in identifying all of the ways in which we don't trust in ourselves or trust in life and then bring courageous curiosity towards those areas" — Jonny Miller "Any conflict is a potential edge to grow from. There's always going to be rupture in relationships. It's about how lovingly can you repair? How quickly can you go from conflict back to connection?" — Jonny Miller "We are in a world which worships self development. But there's a great distinction in self-development and self-unfoldment. When you're approaching inner work through the lens of self-developemnt, it often has this premise of part of me is broken and I need to fix it. Self-unfoldment, ot the other hand, starts with the premise of I am already whole and worthy of love." — Jonny Miller

But recently, I had a powerful realization—some of the deepest wounds aren't just in our thoughts; they're stored in our bodies. In this episode, I share a personal experience that opened my eyes to the weight I had unknowingly been carrying for decades.Through breathwork, I uncovered an old emotional story that had been lingering in my body, creating tension and pain I hadn't even connected to my past. It was a moment of clarity—one that showed me healing isn't just about shifting our thoughts; it's about releasing what's been trapped within us.If you've ever felt stuck despite doing all the inner work, this episode is for you. Ben Stewart, Filmmaker + Producer of the Psychedelica series, joins Josh Trent on the Wellness + Wisdom Podcast, episode 714, to reveal how our personal and collective narratives shape our reality, why language is the invisible thread holding every belief and value together, how ancient mythology set the stage for our modern world, and why true awakening comes from recognizing the power we have to rewrite our story. "Reality is a story. It's an evolving story, and it's a love story. It's a story of allurement, where all the pieces are looking in this evolutionary ladder. It's looking for ever greater wholeness and intimacy with itself. It's God putting itself back together." - Ben Stewart

It's pretty long, and it has a lot of triggering examples of real-life trauma. But it's a great book for understanding how trauma affects the brain and body and that's probably why it's been on the NYT bestseller list for like 5 years! And also that's probably because trauma affects all of us, and Psychiatrist Dr. Bessel Van Der Kolk has written the modern user's guide to understanding it. There's so much to talk about with Trauma and PTSD and the book is over 350 pages long, so I'm going to summarize the essentials without the triggering bits.  Looking for affordable online counseling?
