She was part of the England team which took home the 2014 Women's Rugby World Cup and by the time she retired she'd won 74 caps for her country.Maggie was brought up in north London and when she was 14 her PE teacher suggested she give the sport of rugby union a try. Today, I am thrilled to reconnect with Dr. Kelly Caspersen, a urologist who empowers women to live their best love lives. She is a two-time author, with her latest being The Menopause Moment. In our conversation, we cover a wide range of topics, from navigating UTI purgatory and understanding the vaginal microbiome to how vaginal estrogen can dramatically reduce the risk of sepsis and death in the ICU. We unpack the evolving language of hormones- specifically progesterone, estrogen, and testosterone and we examine censorship and bias on social media, and the differences between prescribers and non-prescribers. We explore the effects of SSRIs on bone and brain health, changes in self-perception in middle age, and the effects of the baby boomer generation and the Women's Health Initiative, exposing the medical gaslighting behind the use it or lose it narrative. We also offer practical options for women who cannot take hormones, and Dr. Kelly shares her go-to supplements and those she avoids. This conversation is one of my recent favorites. Dr. Kelly's enthusiasm is contagious, and her straightforward approach makes complex topics clear, practical, and unforgettable. IN THIS EPISODE, YOU WILL LEARN: Why recurrent UTIs can feel like UTI purgatory How hormone terminology is evolving, and what that means for women in midlife The value of vaginal estrogen, and the potential it holds for saving women's lives How the approaches of prescribers and non-prescribers differ How SSRIs can raise the risk of bone fractures The brain health and self-perception shifts that often occur in midlife Why the use it or lose it belief is misleading, and how it veers into medical gaslighting How the baby boomer generation and the Women's Health Initiative still influence women's healthcare today Some alternative options for women who cannot take hormones Dr. Kelly shares her preferred supplements and those she avoids Bio: Dr. Kelly Casperson, MD Urologist • Author • Podcaster • Women's Health Thought Leader Dr. Kelly Casperson is a board-certified urologist, best-selling author, and top-ranked international podcaster empowering women to take control of their health, hormones, and sexuality. What if the Bible's Nephilim weren't just ancient writings, but left their bones buried in Australia and New Zealand? In this Cult Edition episode, we take the story of the Nephilim giants from Genesis and track it right into the South Pacific. Reports of massive stone tools unearthed across Australia, legends of giant beings tied to Aotearoa New Zealand's earliest histories, and whispers of bones that mysteriously vanish once “authorities” step in — this isn't just folklore, it's evidence that refuses to stay buried. Are these remains proof of biblical giants who migrated across oceans, or the cultural memory of encounters our mainstream history books refuse to acknowledge? Broadcast from KSQD, Santa Cruz on 9-11-2025: Dr. Dawn announces COVID-25/26 vaccines are now available at Safeway with same-day appointments, urging listeners to schedule quickly due to potential supply shortages amid uncertain federal vaccine policies. She discusses promising research on metformin for knee osteoarthritis in obese patients. Studies show metformin users lost half as much cartilage (0.75% vs 1.5%) over four years and had reduced knee replacement risk. The mechanism involves AMPK protein kinase pathways that reduce inflammation and cellular energy storage, with benefits independent of weight loss effects. Dr. Dawn warns hunters about blue pig meat from wild boars that consume rodenticide, which acts like warfarin to prevent blood clotting. The anticoagulant creates blue-tinted tissue that cooking cannot eliminate, making such meat dangerous for consumption during hunting season from September through November. She criticizes the elimination of women's health research funding, highlighting how the Eunice Kennedy Shriver Institute has advanced medical knowledge benefiting everyone. Dr. Dawn notes that $2.5 billion in research was rescinded for containing terms like "women" and "female," creating dangerous knowledge gaps when women experience different disease symptoms and medication responses than men. The brown rice versus white rice debate centers on arsenic content, with brown rice containing about 138 parts per billion compared to 93 in white rice. While both remain below WHO safety limits, children are especially vulnerable. Dr. Dawn recommends diverse grain options and specific cooking methods like soaking, rinsing, and using excess water to reduce arsenic levels. A caller asks about glutathione supplementation, specifically gamma-glutamyl cysteine products. Dr. Dawn explains how these precursors bypass liver metabolism to deliver glutathione to cells, while discussing the balance between oxidative and reductive stress. She notes individual genetic variations can affect supplement responses and emphasizes measuring markers rather than expecting immediate symptomatic improvements. Another caller inquires about histamine intolerance causing puffy eyes and food reactions. Dr. Dawn explains histamine's role as a neurotransmitter, sources in fermented foods and gut bacteria, and genetic enzyme deficiencies in DAO and histamine transferase. She recommends cromolyn sodium eye drops and systematic food elimination, particularly targeting recently increased consumption of chai tea and smoked brisket. Dr. Dawn concludes with news about an AI tool called FaceAge that predicts biological age and survival rates from facial photographs. Trained on 60,000 photos of people over 60, the system achieved 80% accuracy in predicting six-month survival for terminal cancer patients compared to 61% accuracy for human doctors, potentially offering a non-invasive health assessment tool.
Lewy body dementia affects over a million people in the United States, but many people don't know much about it. It's difficult to diagnose and often misdiagnosed. Scribe Video Center is hosting a screening of “Facing the Wind” on September 18. Listen to Linda's podcast, “Lewy Body Roller Coaster”, here. Then, on Shara in the City, Marsha's - Philly's first queer women's sports bar - is set to open on South Street on September 19. Welcome back to another episode of Women Petpreneurs! In today's Book Club edition, host Mary Oquendo is joined by Denise Heroux as they dive into the colorful world of "Surrounded by Idiots" by Thomas Erikson. Mary and Denise share their candid thoughts on the book's unique approach to understanding personalities through color-coding—red, yellow, green, and blue—and how these insights can reshape everything from work dynamics and leadership to our relationships at home.Along the way, they laugh about their own personality colors (spoiler: neither of them is a “blue”), swap stories about work and family, and discuss how knowing both strengths and weaknesses can help petpreneurs navigate staff management and difficult clients. With plenty of real-world examples, a few confessions of organizational chaos, and practical advice for leaders and business owners, this episode brings both wisdom and fun to the world of personality assessment.Whether you manage a team, serve clients, or simply want to better understand yourself and those around you, you won't want to miss this down-to-earth conversation about what it really means to be “surrounded by idiots”—and why that just might be your superpower.

If there's one constant in the kind of people we cover, it's this—they're liars. Con artists trying to scam their way into money, murderers denying their crimes, spouses with secret affairs, liars, all of them. This week's case is about a man who checks all three of those boxes, a man who learned that, if he didn't have a conscience, deceit could make him more money that hard work ever did. Once he'd learned that lesson, nothing was going to stop him from lying his way to more and more wealth. You may not be a history buff like myself but I think you will find my aha moments interesting that I got when visiting these Presidential homes. We think so much has changed, but has it? Are we using our homes differently? I just think tv gave us this impression of how our homes should be used and look. We know differently at Organize 365®. Why Adult Fieldtrips I support my family in all of their passions and this act of self care is a way for me to support my passions and fill my cup. I love to go see presidential homes because of the history of the homes and functionality more than learning about the actual Presidents. These homes are the best representation of what life was like at that time. I like to think about the history of course, but also how the homes were used and the female roles in the homes and as a spouse. I'm always impressed by the vast libraries and proof of how much they valued education. And the finances, who had that much money to afford and run those plantations and who was managing the money? I visited 4 of the first 5 President's homes in VA. Women of the Plantation Jefferson's daughter, Martha, had her own study right off of the entrance. Martha assumed the responsibilities of the home when her mother passed away. When she moved home, they had to make modifications for her and her husband and their 13 children. Jefferson was constantly modifying Monticello to accommodate their current phase of life. Funny I know someone who constantly gives permission to people to modify your home to your current phase of life. Actually there were so many renovations that in the end it left a heavy financial burden on Martha and the plantation was sold to the DuPont family because they couldn't afford all of the debt Jefferson had accrued. If only they'd had the financial binder. It's so important to plan and document your final wishes of your (maybe debt) and assets. Dolly was Madison's wife. She was well connected, had money, was social, and came into their marriage with an 18 month old son after yellow fever took her first husband and two other children. She moved from the South to the North to live in VA. There were a lot of life changes for her including the addition of slaves in her life and managing the plantation. She was a pioneer of sorts having dinner parties and courting votes. She too had a study in which I'm sure she was coordinating everything. These women's husbands were in office, they were in charge of the finances, domestic staff, paid staff, their families, their spouse, social life, education, and community involvement. If only they'd had the Household Reference and Operations binder. How did they do it all? The Estates These estates were fairly close to each other and it reminds me of how arduous travel was in that day. They didn't have cars. These homes were to house the plantation staff, guests who had traveled, and meetings regarding being in office. But the two families, the Jefferson's and Madison's, used their homes differently. And Jefferson had his own quarters if you will like a little condo of his own like the personal spaces I talk about in regards to children's rooms. These homes fueled all their passions like a love of reading, small businesses, and public service. Isn't that what we are doing today too? Our homes are the only thing we have control over and they must fit our phase of life because we spend so much time in them, much like they did in the times of these Presidential homes. I can't wait to tell you about my field trip to Greenfield Village next time! EPISODE RESOURCES: The Sunday Basket® Sign Up for the Organize 365® Newsletter Did you enjoy this episode? Louise Armaindo (c.1861 - 1900) was a Canadian strongwoman, trapeze artist, “pedestrienne”, and record-breaking high-wheel racer. She was one of the first professional women athletes. Though her feats of power and endurance earned her recognition as one of the great athletes of her time years after she was last seen, much of her story remained a historical footnote until recently. Lesley Logan 0:02 Get ready for some wins. Welcome to the Be It Till You See It podcast where we talk about taking messy action, knowing that perfect is boring. I'm Lesley Logan, Pilates instructor and fitness business coach. I've trained thousands of people around the world and the number one thing I see stopping people from achieving anything is self-doubt. My friends, action brings clarity and it's the antidote to fear. Each week, my guest will bring bold, executable, intrinsic and targeted steps that you can use to put yourself first and Be It Till You See It. It's a practice, not a perfect. Let's get started. Lesley Logan 0:44 Hey, Be It babe. How are you? We are here. September is one of those months I feel like flies by. I know it's not as short as February, but, like, you know, it just kind of feels short. Anyways, it's already September 12th, and this is your Fuck Yeah Friday episode. This episode where we get to, like, have a little bit more of a potpourri episode. Potpourri is a category in jeopardy that I never understood why it was called potpourri, because my mother loved potpourri. She'd make like her own potpourri. And I'm like, none of these questions or answers are about the roses, like, rose petals, like, I don't understand. Then I realized, like, it's just, like, you just put a bunch of stuff together and, like, it could be anything, and then it's potpourri. So anyways, first we start off with something that's inspiring. We should talk about. I would love for us to talk about. You can hit me up on the pod Instagram to talk about it. Share. You can DM us. You can set it to beitpod.com/questions. Ask questions about it. You can share your wins at beitpod.com/questions I know it's weird. We're thinking quest wins, but like, who can spell that? So it's questions, but you can put a win or a question there. We answer your questions on Thursday during the recap. And our, we share your wins on a Friday, because sometimes you need to hear your own win later on and go, oh, my god, I did that. Right? Like, have you ever had to listen to your own bio read. So it's one of those things, when I do a podcast, and after I've done recording this, I'm on someone's own podcast, sometimes they record that part without me there, and sometimes they record that part with me there. When they record that part with me there, I'm like, oh my god, I did that. Oh, I did do that. Oh, I did that in that amount of time. Holy freaking molly. It's so easy for us to forget the things that we did. That's why we have to celebrate them. All right. I also realized that I talk really fast. I do realize this, and I have people who tell me they do not speed up my podcast, and that's fine. You don't have to. You can also slow it down. Did you know that? Lesley Logan 2:20 Okay, so this inspired me. Scholars believe that Albert Einstein was on the autism spectrum, but no one talks about his wife. And I hope I say this right, Mileva Marić, Mileva Marić. Anyways, historians speculated that she may have contributed to his theories, but she received no credit for her work. I think we don't have to speculate. I'm pretty sure that's probably true. Einstein was called a genius. He went on to win the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics and became a global icon of science. Mileva excelled in theoretical physics. In some classes, she reportedly scored even higher than Einstein. Despite strong academic performance, she was the only woman in her class, and faced intense gender bias from her male professors. But in the early 1900s women had limited rights. Women couldn't vote in most countries, couldn't publish under their own names, and were not taken seriously in academics, Einstein and Mileva, I hope I say her name right because that would be such a shame, exchanged letters discussing physics, mathematics and joint ideas. In the letters, Einstein even referred to our work on relative motion and our papers. So why was only his name on the papers? Einstein's most groundbreaking work was published only while he was still with Mileva before their separation. This included special relativity, so E equals MC squared and the photoelectric effect, all published during their time and together in the 1905, his miracle year after their divorce, Einstein offered Mileva his future Nobel Prize money. Some believe it was compensation for uncredited contributions to his work. Probably was. After their separation, 1914, Einstein never produced theories of the same revolutionary impact. Hmm, evidence, I think so. So how much of his genius was actually Mileva's uncredited contributions? A comprehensive review of 308 studies from 1914 to 2011 involving over 1.1 million students from 30 countries, found that girls consistently outperformed boys in all subjects, including math and science. That is from Time magazine. Mileva and Einstein's story, leave us with a question, how many brilliant women throughout history weren't raised simply because they had fewer rights and no voice? So there's a great book called She Cost a Riot, which I really love, and I would love to get that author on the show. And there's a couple other scientists who, like in Europe, who got a bit more credit, but didn't get paid. Like, literally, could teach the stuff, but they couldn't get paid. And so, you know, there's also, I think we talked about this on the on the pod before, but like, how Socrates is, teacher was a woman. And the truth is, is that people have wanted to erase what women were doing so that women could be held back. And I'm not, I don't think we have to go women are better than men. That's not the argument I'm trying to have here. It's that women deserve the same credit that a man would get for the work that they're doing. Period. End of story. It's not about taking, it's about like, it like just having the opportunity to have the equal credit and reward and achievements that other people would get. So I'm glad we have all these theories, and if they work together, that is really cool. And I'm not saying he is the reason why, you know, like, she didn't get the credit. It is with society. But I just think that, like, there's some, there's some research we can do, there's some, there's more. There's more to this story. There's more to a lot of stories. And you know, I think hopefully as we all get older, we will hear more about these amazing women and what they did, and I hope that we can celebrate them, and maybe the kids from today can hear about her and other things out there. So anyways, that's just me. That's just me. This is my hope. Lesley Logan 6:00 Okay, so let's share a win of yours so you can send your wins in, like I said, to beitpod.com/questions and the win we're going to share today is from Jeanne Cho. Did all the things to make a website, and it will be done by this weekend, finally. Thanks, Brad, for the web course. Received a request for a local paid event, the second contract this month. So excited to see what will come once I'm actually online. Found out Craft Work is in town this weekend, so looking forward to experiencing a legendary performance, often hesitate in taking personal time away from my daughter and being selfish. So, so proud to be selfish in digging up old Pilates footage for the website found on an Equinox. Price, Pilates price brochure from 2016 noticing my current session rate is what they were charging a decade ago, but relieved that at least I'm earning their old drop-in rate. So, this is beautiful Jeanne. So many wins in here. First of all, and this is for everyone, doing things that fill your cup is never selfish. I know that, like, when you're a mom, your time might be limited with your children, and they grow up so fast. But also, like, it's so important that they see that you go out and do things that are fun, that you have hobbies, that you have things that that bring you joy. And they will recognize when they're older, like, oh, wow, she did that, and she was, like, a happier person because of it. So love that. Love that for you. Also, you know, I love that, that old Equinox Pilates rate price card, because, like, I remember when I worked at Equinox and I charged exactly what they charged. So I was like, well, if over here that someone, a company, is taking that rate for my teaching, why, I certainly can charge the same amount where I'm teaching for myself. And that also just kind of meant, like, I didn't have to have those conversations with people, like, I'm cheaper over here, but more expensive here. Like, no, it's the same rate. But like, it does take sometimes a pep talk right, to remind yourself, like, oh, people are charging this. Now, obviously different places are different, but like, way to go. You, you made it, you got yourself there, and you're earning the rate that you want to earn, and you got yourself your website, and you use your support systems, like, that's another thing I want to highlight. Like everyone, it is a win that was worth celebrating when you use your support systems. A lot of times, we buy these things, we pay for things, and then we don't use them. And because, like, I don't know, we're scared, we're worried, we're afraid. And the truth is, or like, who knows? Actually, maybe good things will happen, right? Is that what you're afraid of? So when you have resources, it is a win. When you're like, you recognize you have them and you use them, you take the action. So, way to go, Jeanne, thank you for sharing with us, because that way it helps us figure out how, my god, we have so many more wins we could celebrate, right? Lesley Logan 8:40 Okay, so, you guys, I am going to share this with you guys right now because it's going to be soon, but I am really excited we've had so we've had hundreds of episodes, like, like, so many episodes. I don't even know where we're at this point, because I'm recording this a little early, but I was a little afraid to like, years ago, to, like, rock the boat of, like, how the system of the pod goes because, like, what's if it's not broken like, why fix it? But I've decided I want to do a few different series on this pod for you guys. So like, a habit series and a preventative burnout series, and make a self-love or boundaries series. And so anyways, I'm letting you know now that, like, I, I'm calling it a win that I am recording these series for you because, like, I'm really fucking confident in, like, what we've done here for you guys. We get really great interviews, we have really great guests. We have a lot of fun doing this. Our producers are amazing. And I know that the a different type of series will be beneficial for you guys, and I hope that it is. And if they're, if they're, if you do like them, I do want you to tell me what other series we should do on the show, because it will help us direct, like which guests we bring on and like what topics we bring up. But you know, being it till you see it requires us to also, like, take a different chance, try something different, like, try something different than we've done before. So anyways, I'm really, really excited about that. Lesley Logan 10:03 I'm also excited that here we are in our fourth year. I celebrated four years this past summer, and you know, we were, Brad and I are like, we want to change the music. We want to update the like, all the different things. So you're going to see a little bit of a refresh and a rebrand around here. And it's not because the pod is changing in a way that you won't recognize it. It's just becoming more of what it was supposed to be. The pod itself has been being it till it sees it. And I'm just like, I'm calling that a win. And so thank you for being on this journey. Thank you for supporting us. Thank you for sharing episodes, thank you for sending your wins in and your questions in. Lesley Logan 10:40 And now for your affirmation to take with you into your fabulous weekend. Are you ready? I tell the truth about who I am and what I need from others. Story of the Week (DR):Lachlan Murdoch Secures Control of Fox and News Corp, Ending Succession FightLachlan Murdoch is confirmed as Rupert Murdoch's successor, gaining control over the family's media empire (which includes Fox Corporation and News Corp). Prudence MacLeod, Elisabeth Murdoch, and James Murdoch—three of Rupert's older children—will each receive about US$1.1 billion. They will sell their holdings in Fox and News Corp and give up beneficial/trust rights in those companies.Apart from full siblings Elisabeth and James Murdoch, Lachlan has three half-siblings, an elder half-sister Prudence, and two younger sisters by his father's third marriage, Grace and Chloe. A new family trust will be set up benefiting Lachlan and Rupert's younger daughters, Grace and Chloe. That trust will hold controlling voting shares in Fox and News Corp. The three older siblings will no longer be beneficiaries in the trust(s) connected to Fox and News Corp. They also give up any voting rights held via those trusts. Rupert Murdoch, despite handing over the control structure, retains a role as Chairman Emeritus. The new trust arrangement secures Lachlan's control over the companies through 2050. One of Rupert Murdoch's concerns was the possibility that the more moderate siblings (Prudence, Elisabeth, James) could shift the political or editorial leanings of Fox/News Corp after he's gone. The new structure is designed to prevent that.Senators Call for Hearings About JPMorgan's Ties to Jeffrey EpsteinDemocrats want CEO Jamie Dimon to testify about keeping Epstein as a client until 2013Epstein had dozens of accounts at JPMorgan's private bank and communicated often with bank executives, connecting them to his wealthy contacts, ties The Wall Street Journal first reported in 2023 to be deeper than understood. Epstein was a JPMorgan client before and after he was convicted of soliciting a minor for prostitution in 2008 and forced to register as a sex offender.Trump Epstein letter and drawing from ‘birthday book' releasedEric Trump removed from the ALT5 board of directors after discussion with the Nasdaq Stock Market LLCTrump's second son, Eric Trump, was removed from the ALT5 board of directors. According to the SEC filing, the change was made after discussion with the Nasdaq Stock Market LLC, therefore, the change was in order to comply with Nasdaq's listing rules. It is still unclear which of the Nasdaq rules caused Eric Trump to be removed. The closest reason would be the rule that requires a majority of board members at listed companies to be independent. However, if Trump didn't qualify as independent, other members would have also been removed, which was not the case.after discussion with The Nasdaq Stock Market LLC … and in order to comply with Nasdaq's listing rules.” He is now a board observer: While he was originally announced as a full board member, Eric Trump has been reassigned to observer status — meaning he can attend meetings but doesn't have voting power.Larry Ellison's $100 billion day reminds us why David Ellison could buy ParamountLarry Ellison, co-founder of Oracle, recently saw his net worth jump by around US$100 billion in a single day due to a spike in Oracle's stock.Larry's wealth was a key factor enabling his son, David Ellison, to acquire Paramount.David Ellison's position is less pressured because his father's vast wealth gives him a kind of “cushion” — meaning that even if some deals don't go well, he can withstand the backlash more than many media owners could.Paramount Skydance Prepares Ellison-Backed Bid for Warner Bros. DiscoveryThe majority of the planned bid for Warner will be made up of cashA Key to Larry Ellison's Wealth Creation: Years of Oracle Stock BuybacksOracle has used aggressive stock buybacks over the past 15 years as a major lever to boost shareholder value—and especially to amplify Larry Ellison's personal wealth. Oracle has aggressively repurchased its own shares over roughly the last 15 years — reducing its outstanding share count by nearly 45%. Because Larry Ellison held roughly the same number of shares, his ownership percentage rose from ~23% to around 41% without buying more stock. This buyback strategy significantly boosted the value of Ellison's stake — Barron's estimates that without the buybacks, his stake might have been worth only $215 billion instead of the current ~$387 billion.Ellison didn't need to purchase additional Oracle shares to increase the value of his investment—he benefited from the shrinking pool of shares and the company's rising valuation.Vanguard Tries To Get Investors Interested In Proxy Voting MMVanguard's trying to get millions of its fund investors involved in big corporate decisions—but so far, most people are still tuning out. That's left folks wondering who really holds sway at America's largest companies.Vanguard's campaign faces a classic case of 'rational apathy', where most index fund investors skip shareholder votes because it feels like a hassle with little impact on their own wallets.Even though Vanguard's Voting Choice program doubled participation to 82,000 people and tripled the dollar value voted to $9 billion, that's tiny compared to the company's 50 million investors and $11 trillion in assets.Studies from Duke, Florida, and Columbia universities show just how overwhelming the sheer number of ballot measures can be—making most people pick broad voting policies, like mainstream or anti-ESG, instead of poring over each decision. While reformers hope wider voting can democratize the system, the early results point the other way: individuals often skip votes or side with management, letting company leaders keep their grip. In fact, last year's Tesla shareholder votes would have failed if Vanguard's index funds had voted like individuals.Financial Services Committee Examines the Shareholder Proposal Process and Proxy Advisory FirmsOn the Impact of Sarbanes-Oxley and Dodd-Frank on Annual Proxy Statements: “Together, these two laws [Sarbanes-Oxley and Dodd-Frank] have driven up costs, increased the length and complexity of proxy statements, expanded the disclosure and oversight process, and fundamentally changed much of the shareholder access to the proxy system,” said Chairman Hill.French Hill: founder, Chair, and CEO of Delta Trust & Banking Corporation from 1999 until 2014. A ninth-generation Arkansan, Hill is a direct descendent of slave plantation owner Creed Taylor who was among the wealthiest 1% of Americans in 1860.On the Cost of Unnecessary and Irrelevant Shareholder Proposals: “Under this flawed system, companies are too often forced to waste valuable time and resources fighting proposals that are irrelevant to the company's bottom line, hurting investors and workers alike,” said Capital Markets Subcommittee Chair Ann Wagner (MO-02)."Allowing a small group of left-wing activists to hijack the proxy proposal process to push social, environmental, DEI, or political objectives totally unrelated to the core business of a company does not advance the cause of capitalism. It undermines capitalism. It corrupts capitalism because it results in the misallocation of resources of the company. It undermines the profitability of the company. It hurts the shareholders,” stated Financial Institutions Subcommittee Chair Rep. Andy Barr (KY-06).Barr believes that abortion should be illegal, including in cases of rape and incestBarr, who's now running for Mitch McConnell's Senate seat, made it clear that he and Musk are joined at the hip. A few days after the “town hall” Barr released a photo of himself standing beside a shiny new Tesla, with a big smile, a thumbs-up, and the caption “Elon Musk sure knows what he's doing!”On How Proxy Advisory Firms Can Deter Businesses from Joining Public Markets: “For many small and medium private companies considering an IPO, the decision often comes down to whether the benefits of accessing public markets outweigh the risk of compliance. But as we have seen in recent years, the shareholder proposal process can be dominated by a small group of activist investors advancing niche political agendas that have little to do with long term value creation. At the same time, proxy advisory firms wield outsized influence over voting outcomes, and [are] operating with limited transparency and potential conflicts of interest. So together, these dynamics can create an uncertainty and additional cost that make public markets less attractive,” declared House Small Business Committee Chairman Roger Williams (TX-25).Williams was listed as the 22nd wealthiest member of Congress in 2018. Williams inherited the family's automobile dealership from his father, who founded the business in 1939.During the COVID-19 pandemic, Williams's Chrysler Dodge Jeep dealership in Weatherford, Texas, received a loan of between $1 million and $2 million as part of the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP);[28][29] the loan was later forgivenGoodliest of the Week (MM/DR):DR: Boone Electric Co-op members can cast drive-thru votes for directorsDR: New Mexico will be the first state to make child care free DR MMThe program, which will start in November and is expected to save families $12,000 per child annually, is available to all residents regardless of income. Your support keeps us going!Show notesIn this (supposed to be) quick Spotlight we look back and forward at the Women's Rugby World Cup (02:08) and how the lack of competitive matches may be dulling the appetite and how the game can grow. We discuss a concussion and a card which may have implications for the quarter finals and examine why there are so few coaches at the top level of women's rugby. While Gareth is shocked by only three in the World Cup and zero in the Women's Premiership, Ross explains why it takes time for the knowledge and experience to filter through and change will come more slowly that we might think. In Center Stage (17:30), we take another look back at the Malcolm Gladwell podcast, but through the eyes of the Discourse members, who like Gareth, focused on the topics which the rest of the internet forgot in their trans debate frenzy. Does Gladwell really think Hodgkinson might be doping? Why compression of adolescence is such a good term for an important concept, and why Gladwell backs the 'whimsical' suggestion of banning parents from live sports events, even knowing it to be unfeasible? Did Gladwell mislead on the relative age distribution theory? Is his bridging of the gap between journalism and science valid? Do athletes have a responsibility to entertain? So many gems, so little time. And Finally, (42:58), we look forward to the first of the athletics World Championship finals - the 4x400 mixed relay and the women's 10000 metres, and make a few predictions.Show NotesWorld Rugby and Gallagher extend GHPA programmeWorld Rugby launches Women Coaching Rugby Toolkit to recruit and retain more female rugby coachesDon't forget you can watch all our episodes on Youtube now Hosted on Acast.
