Finding people who drive revenue in your organization can make or break your revenue process. The question at hand is this: how do you discover, attract, and keep top talent so you can boost revenue? Amy Volas, Founder and CEO of Avenue Talent Partners, has mastered the successful hiring strategy and wants to share her secrets with you. In this episode of the Run Revenue show, Amy shares the essential criteria to follow when looking for top talent - from evaluating a candidate's mindset, dedication, alignment to the company's values, and more. Here's what's inside: Understand alignment and engagement. When hiring, it's crucial to define and align the skills, will, and engagement required for the role. Look for those who actively listen, show engagement, and demonstrate a proactive attitude during the hiring process. The deal breakers include arrogance, ego, disrespect towards team members, and a lack of preparation. Focus on real qualifiers and results. Look beyond educational background or specific industry experience. Instead, assess a candidate's ability to have meaningful business conversations and connect with others. Understand how the candidate achieved results, not just the results themselves, to gauge their ability to repeat success. Consider the stage of your company. Different go-to-market roles and the definitions of terms like "Enterprise" can vary, so it's important to understand these distinctions when hiring. Hiring should not be treated as an experiment; both parties should consider the context and alignment to ensure long-term retention. Even though there are more women in leadership positions or starting their own entrepreneurial journeys, the fact remains that the fight for gender equality is still going on. Further, recent US events like the overturning of Roe v. Wade highlight how much more progress still needs to be made. Therefore, it's up to all of us to empower women to raise their voices and join forces for a better and more equitable world. In this episode of Taking the Lead, our host Christina Brady welcomes Amy Volas. Amy is the founder and CEO of Avenue Talent Partners. The two discuss the position of women in today's business world. Amy shares her career path and why she prefers being an individual contributor rather than a leader. They also touch on the idea of success in the public and private sphere and conclude that standing up for what you believe is right creates better opportunities for everyone.

In this episode of the Peak Performance Selling podcast, Jordan talks to Amy Volas, the founder and CEO of recruitment firm Avenue Talent Partners. Amy shares her incredible insight into leadership, developing a strong work ethic, and genuinely caring about people. Amy also talks about the importance of self-awareness and self-realization, and why it's critical for leaders to understand that business starts and stops with people, not the bottom line. HIGHLIGHTSGet to the root of the pain point to address itAll good leaders have playbooksHow to bounce back from a tough time Check your ego and don't try to be a hero Always do things with integrityIt all starts and stops with peopleBuilding communities in today's digital world QUOTESAmy: "The thing about playbooks, I might have one, you might have one, in my mind they are iterative. They're not read, rinse and repeat because everybody's business is different. And the best leaders I know, they're always learning and tweaking as they go." Amy: "Even when it's hard, even when I want to crawl under a rock and not come back out, I own it. I try to do it with integrity, and I try to be as honest as I can be."Amy: "I don't care what market we're in. If it's an up market, if it's down market, if it's a bull or a bear, I don't care. You still have to have people to do your business. When it's good, when it's bad, you have to. And the last time, I checked, you don't have a business without a customer because the customer writes the check. And guess who drives that? A little thing called sales." Amy: "We all want to be seen, we all want to be heard, we all want to be understood. And I've added two more things to that: we all want to be valued and validated."You can connect with Amy and her work in the links below:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/amyvolas/Website (Business): https://avenuetalentpartners.com/Website (Thursday Night Sales): https://thursdaynightsales.com/Twitter: https://twitter.com/AvenueTPIf you're listening to the Peak Performance Selling Podcast, please subscribe, share, and send us your feedback.LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/jordanbenjamin/Website - http://mycoreos.com/Podcast - https://www.mycoreos.com/podcastEmail - Jordan@MyCoreOS.comTwitter - https://twitter.com/jbenj09

Amy Volas, founder and CEO of Avenue Talent Partners, joined me on the show. She's such a fun lady. Amy helps startups hire sales leaders without the cringe. Amy has been a sales leader at ZipRecruiter, Indeed, and Yahoo! She has personally closed $100MM+ in revenue (and counting). She's got 70+ recommendations on LinkedIn. Woah. Amy also co-hosts the #1 weekly virtual sales happy hour (Thursday Night Sales). This is a marketing podcast. Why am I bringing on Amy Volas, sales rockstar, on the show? Well, my experience has shown that Marketing + Sales is SUPER intertwined. Marketers need to understand how sales works (and vice versa) in order to accomplish business growth. Personally, after starting my own business, I've been straddling both marketing AND sales and it's becoming almost a blur. Like I'm doing marketing, but I'm also getting customers. So I must be selling otherwise people wouldn't know to buy. It's a natural progression. What I have realized over time (and as we move more into digital) is that there is no buyer journey anymore. I've been asking founders and marketing leaders the same question and they have a hard time pinpointing exactly what journey their buyers take before they become a customer. There are many different steps, and the point is to be there with the right content to help build the relationship and the trust. Here's what we hit on: What does sales mean to you, what does marketing mean to you; How has sales changed over the last 10 years; How is growth in digital impacting sales; What are the big problems you're seeing that your customers have, and what's your advice; What kind of sales leader (or team) do you need for Seed/Series A (earlier stage) vs. Series C+; You've personally closed $100MM+ in revenue...what are top 3 things that you've done/learned to make this happen; What's working well for you right now at Avenue Talent Partners, in terms of sales + marketing strategies; Top tips on growing LinkedIn followers (Amy has 43k+); Top mistakes or failures and how that has impacted how you lead. Co-Host of Thursday Night Sales and Founder of Avenue Talent Partners Amy Volas joins this episode to talk about: The last year being a whirlwind and the one thing that goes on hold and comes back in a downturn. A quality-first mindset. Having a firmly-planted why. The beauty that happens in the face of adversity. Being reminded that she's been through worse. Being an underdog most of her career. The one thing that action requires. Why "why" is so hard to ask. The true definition of recruiting. Her parents divorcing when she was four and how she learned to deal with things. Spending a lot of time with her grandparents and their impact on her life. Being the only kids in her school with divorced parents. Learning the power of work as a coping mechanism. Never thinking she'd get married, yet meeting her husband and getting married three weeks later. Her advice to her younger self. Life is a puzzle that correlates. The clarity of boundaries. [6:39] How do you get it right [13:04] do your homework; asking the right questions; why, how and what am I hiring for; [15:13] hire for your stage; [23:14] the founder’s role and early stage; [31:30] the importance of sales leaders; open communication and taking your hiring strategies to the next level [34:42].

Taking the Cringe Out of Recruiting Sales Pros with Guest Amy Volas This week Amy Volas, Founder & CEO of Avenue Talent Partners, joins us on the podcast. The conversation was great. We covered a wide range of topics including recruiting, sales, recruiting sales professionals, being human, setting expectations, partnering with a recruiter, and executing. Thank you, Amy, for joining us this week - I really enjoyed the conversation. Questions Addressed What does Amy love about recruiting? Why should someone (organization or professional) want to work with a recruiter? What are common mistakes companies make when hiring sales professionals? How are recruiting and sales shifting? Why do we make recruiting/sales difficult? What are some of the guideposts Amy uses to evaluate if a relationship is going in the right direction? If I get a call from a recruiter, what should I be thinking about? What can we do if we want to make it easier for a recruiter to contact us? If you are the person trying to move into a new role, how can you elevate yourself, and gain new experience? Key takeaways Amy loves working with compelling businesses For recruiters that are doing it well, they understand the company, they understand the core business, they can provide feedback. Recruiting is not cheap - you earn your fees "I need to do it better than you can do it yourself" - Amy Know the buyer profile and the buyer journey Common mistakes Looking at this as a vendor/client relationship Some organizations take the approach of needing a butt in a seat Discovery is critical - it is our job to connect the dots Clearly define the thought process and objectives Unfortunately, we live in a world where it is a numbers game, take a pause, be intentional. Be your own best advocate Don't waste your time Hacking is not lasting - What you put in, is what you get out Do the work We don't live in a world of pitching anymore. Pitching does not work. The buyer is more informed - By the time we want to engage, we are well informed In the 90's (as sales reps) we would inform on the front end, now the customer is further down the path. Stop making it difficult - Make it easy on the buyer Bad habits start from the top - There are gaps in expectations Have a conversation, a playbook is a guide. Sales is not plug and play Questions to ask How do I help solve a problem? How do I help you get to your goal? Do the right things. Success will follow. It's ok to say no, to redefine success Spend time where you do your best work Be human - Don't be afraid to have the tough conversations Set expectations Define the task at hand, listen, establish success looks like Discovery, milestones, communication, ensure we are on pace. Ask questions. Go through the process, don't skip steps - skipping steps increases risk. Think critically Create an environment of trust and respect When you are contacted by a recruiter, ask questions, identify if they did their homework? When trying to help recruiters find you, keywords matter, specificity is critical. Remember - recruiters serve their clients - the job seeker is not the client. They do not work on behalf of candidates The recruiter and rep should be the right fit for each other. People crave feedback. Be your own best advocate, identify those who have experience, learn from them. Call to Action/Engagement Question How do you use recruiters in your business? What will you change about the way you work with recruiters? In this episode Barb interviews Amy Volas, Founder and CEO of Avenue Talent Partners about How the Bots HAVEN’T Taken Over. How to Be Human in Sales.
You've mastered your pitch but what about active listening or taking the focus off yourself? We've all experienced cringeworthy sales behavior. And many, if we're honest, have practiced it. Cringe-inducing tactics make prospects want to get away. And the salespeople who practice them get burned out. Why? Well for one, they don't understand their why. And as Amy Volas joined me on this episode of the Sales Engagement Podcast to point out, they display 3 highly destructive sales mistakes. Amy is the Founder and CEO of Avenue Talent Partners a zero-cringe recruiting company dedicated to helping businesses hire proven sales performers. Sales has always been Amy's first love, and there is no one better to highlight the traits that make the meaningful connections needed to close deals.
