Dizzy is best known as the keyboardist for Guns N' Roses, with whom he has played, toured, and recorded since 1990. Beyond his tenure with GNR, he has collaborated with icons like Joe Perry, Psychedelic Furs, and Slim Jim Phantom. His contributions extend to revered records by Motorhead, Backyard Babies, and Armored Saint. Influenced by rock legends of the '60s and '70s, he honed his skills through performances at local venues. His journey led him to Los Angeles, where he conquered the famed 'Sunset Strip' stages. In 2018, he unveiled his solo debut, 'Rock 'N Roll Ain't Easy,' earning critical acclaim. Born in Lisbon and raised in Toronto Leyton was a founding member and songwriter in Canadian art-glam indie project The Conscience Pilate. He founded the Fading Ways record label and released three critically acclaimed solo albums, Down Secret Avenue with the Last Lovers, From the Brighter Side of Her Midnight Sun and The Betrayal of the Self. He has played guitar as well as bass for other musical projects live and in the studio, including Canadian rockers Crash Kelly (fellow Canadian musician Sean Kelly's band) and Barry Walsh's Canadian power pop outfit Galore. He participated in a side-project with Ky Anto, titled Pretty Volume, and recorded an EP with fellow Canadian guitarist Rich Jones and The Wildhearts' frontman Ginger in the UK. The Hellacopters's Nicke Andersson and Backyard Babies's guitarist Dregen were guests on Leyton's The Betrayal of the Self album and Leyton in turn participated in a side project with Andersson called The Point. Leyton also co-wrote and sang on Andersson's debut solo album Imperial State Electric as well as performing live with them  in Spain and Sweden. Leyton is now fronting a new artist collective, Lusitanian Ghosts, together with Micke Ghost from Sweden. This new single is the continuation of a new era of Neil Leyton solo releases that will be coming out in 2024. Electric artists have been playing acoustically since the beginning of recorded music. Usually, the slower ballads and the prettier mellow songs by rock artists were accompanied by acoustic guitars. Rockshow 167 episode THE HELLACOPTERS RockerMike and Rob discuss THE HELLACOPTERS. The Hellacopters are a Swedish garage rock band that was formed in 1994 by Nicke Andersson (vocals and guitar), Andreas Tyrone "Dregen" Svensson (guitar), Kenny Håkansson (bass) and Robert Eriksson (drums). Andersson (sometimes known as Nick Royale) had been the drummer for death metal band Entombed and Dregen was taking a break from his full-time band Backyard Babies. Dregen and Eriksson had been roadies for Entombed, while Håkansson was a childhood friend of Andersson's. The Hellacopters were initially conceived as a side project for Andersson and Dregen, but it eventually became the main songwriting and performance vehicle for Andersson. We've called this episode “The Covermount Mixtape” for now, but it hasn't escaped us that a covermount essentially IS a mixtape, only one that was put together by magazines (with what is probably a fair amount of label/PR interference, but we digress…). So until we come up with a better name for this new series, we're stuck with this for the time being. In any event, this is the first in what will no doubt be quite a long series where we discuss and dissect a covermount CD. For this one, we've picked Radio Kerrang! Vol.5 and friends, it's weird. Alongside the usual nu-metal fare that was floating around in 1998, there's also a few other interesting choices, such as Backyard Babies and a few bands that no doubt no longer exist, like Freekspert. There's a surprising amount of Swedish artists on this CD too, much to our bemusement.  It's not all just banter about the music on the CD though, we also ponder what the conditions were to get on these CDs for smaller bands, and contemplate just how much sway the labels or PR companies of the bigger bands had over the selection. In doing the research for this new feature we found that it is very, very easy to get your hands on these CDs. People sell them by the box load on eBay. Probably because they're all worthless and no one in their right mind wants to own them. So strap the fuck in folks, we're plumbing the very, very depths of late 90s rock and metal with this one.
