Whatever texts David Robertson was using to compile his 'A Review of the Manks History' in 1794, he seems to have got his timelines in a muddle for the period he's writing about, racing through the 1300s. Its that time of the year. It's the Fall or Autumn, whichever one you prefer. And along with this time of the year, we have none other than pumpkin beers and, of course, stouts. However, we are going to focus on the pumpkin beers on this episode. We lucked up and got a great selection from our good friend Matt over at Bone Sack Speakeasy, right here in Saint Cloud. In this episode, we have three pumpkin beers to try courtesy of O'Fallon Brewery out of Maryland Heights, Missouri. First, Pumpkin Beer Don't be fooled by mere pumpkin flavor… This is the real McCoy! We use soooo much real pumpkin in our mash that it adds hours to the lauter. Second, Maple Bacon Pumpkin Red Ale This pumpkin Red Ale has a rich malty backbone of toasted caramel candy sweetness. We used a blend of smoked malts from Weyermann Malt in Germany and a touch of salt to achieve a soft natural smoked bacon flavor that balances with the sweet caramel notes. Third, Salted Caramel Pumpkin lives up to its name as a malt forward caramel flavored ale with the perfect balance of sweet and salt. To achieve this balance, we are using a blend of Caramel malts and Lactose for a creamy sweetness and add just the right amount of Pink Himalayan Sea Salt as a contrast. Finally, we also had two other pumpkin beers that just happen to fall into our laps. The featured artist of the show is LB That Producer Guy. Check him out here. We want to thank you for stopping by and spending some time with us at the Beer Is Fundamental Show. We are only 2 episodes away from episode 100. We are back at it. So, episode 100 will be upon us really soon. We hope that you had a good time in the neighbeerhood. We want to recognize our usual supporters. We welcome Coach Joe Beer. Joe is in Devon, UK and has 25 years of coaching experience with both time trials and triathlon. Joe is the author of three books and hosts a regular multisport podcast, jbst.com. You can learn more by visiting his website, http://www.coachjoebeer.com/. Welcome back Coach Joe Beer! We had a very positive reaction to Joe’s first appearance when we chatted about the white paper on the jbst.com website which talked about Smarter Training and the importance of keeping the majority of your training rides at an “easy” level. You can check out episode #92 for more information on that. I like to take ideas from listeners and one suggestion that been requested and in fact re-requested is to chat about the relationship between triathlon and time trialists. I want to especially thank James Thomas for his most recent TT-tri podcast suggestion. After Joe’s first appearance I could not think of a better person to chat about this. Joe of course is a multi sport coach and in fact has himself completed five Ironman distance events. I take several audience questions, submitted via isaacmorehouse.com/ask-isaac -Lessons from running Praxis? -Do you believe the craft beer industry is in a bubble at the moment that will soon pop, and what do you think will happen if it is? Also, what is your favorite brewery? -How do you manage having so many children and running a business, writing, speaking, etc? -Challenges as an unschooling father? -Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Is it valuable to think in those terms? -To what extent is "general ed" valuable? Is any common educational structure at the early ages a good thing, and if it is, what does that look like?
