On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens to discuss several Buffalo Bills and other topics, including Joe reacting to a handful of what Patrick calls sneaky good Bills takes.Joe missed last week's show because he's a jerk who went on family vacation but he's back this week. After spending a little time catching up, Joe talking about his family trip and Patrick going absolutely over the top in a tirade against a specific Tops Markets location (6150 South Park Avenue in Hamburg), they dive into some Bills talk where Patrick lays down some Bills takes for Joe to react to. Among them is opportunity getting ready to knock for second year running back Ray Davis, why Brandon Beane may look to trade Curtis Samuel for peanuts and Tre White having a real chance to be the Week one starter at cornerback alongside Christian Benford. Also, Josh Allen got married to Hollywood star actress Hailee Steinfeld. The guys have plenty of reaction to that. Plus, Joe has a Mt. Flushmore of the worst celebrity couples, Patrick's got an extended "True or False' segment, reaction to some fan comments and plenty more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren from SB Nation to discuss several (mostly) Buffalo Bills topics, including a review of a recent two-part series by Joe Marino (Locked on Bills) that focused on counting down the Bills players most critical to the future of the team.Regarded as one of the premier Bills content creators in the industry by nearly everyone, Marino has been doing a countdown series for the handful of years that focuses on the 10 players most critical to the future of the Bills with a follow-up episode explaining the thinking behind many of the decisions. For the exercise Marino enlists a panel of Bills content creators to vote and chime in as part of the show, a panel that includes Patrick. The guys go over the list from Locked on Bills and Patrick reveals what his personal countdown consisted of---was his list in line with the majority of the panel? From there, Matt does his own countdown with some insightful explanations along the way. One thing becomes clear with the more people you talk too ----- Josh Allen reigns supreme but it always gets far more subjective after him. Also, Matt explains him picking the Bills to win 14 games this season on Buffalo Rumblings. That plus the Bills are favored in every game this season, an awesome Nike ad for golfer Scottie Scheffler and tons more. You can follow Matt on Twitter @MattRichWarren and be sure to check out Buffalo Rumblingsfor your (really good) daily Bills content.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Christian Benford, Buffalo Bills Cornerback joins Zach Gelb
On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran goes over ten Buffalo Bills predictions he has that will play out between now and the Week one start of the 2025 NFL regular season. It's never too early for predictions, even though we certainly reserve the right to change them at some point down the line. For now though, Patrick feels pretty good about 10 things he sees happening. Among those is a returning Tre White impressing enough during the summer to at least temporarily take back control of a starting cornerback job alongside Christian Benford, even with first-round draft pick Maxwell Hairston. As Patrick explains, it's no indictment against Hairston as much as a (hopefully) fully healthy Tre White having the experience and confidence from head coach Sean McDermott that he can put White in to begin the season while letting Hairston ease his way before eventually taking over. Also, White's return felt great to a lot of Bills fans but between he and a trio of cornerback draft picks last month, the news isn't great for Dane Jackson, who Patrick predicts will have a second stint with the Bills that's short lived.James Cook likely won't get any extension in 2025 and almost certainly not before the season but Patrick doesn't think Cook's going to be an issue going into training camp in July. He does see another Bills veteran getting inked to an extension before the season starts. That plus a potentially big camp battle at safety, an unheralded rookie from last year Patrick thinks can take a big step in 2025 and much more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. In this episode, we dive into the recent NFL draft selection made by the Buffalo Bills, who have picked cornerback Max Hairston from Kentucky in the first round. This choice has sparked discussions among fans, especially since Hairston wasn’t a widely speculated choice for the first round. However, his impressive attributes, such as a towering height of 6'1" and a blazing speed of 4.28, make him a promising addition to the Bills' defense. We explore how Hairston fits into the team’s strategy, potentially starting opposite Christian Benford. Despite concerns regarding his prior shoulder injury and tackling skills, the Bills coaching staff is confident in his ability to develop into a reliable player. With the excitement surrounding his energetic presence and versatility in both zone and man coverage, fans are optimistic about his future contributions on the field. Join us as we analyze the potential impact of Hairston’s arrival, discuss the next steps in the draft, and speculate on the opportunities the Bills are looking to address in the upcoming rounds. Whether you’re tuning in for the player evaluations or predictions for the draft continuation, this episode has you covered with all things Bills. Listen now & Go Bills!

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran goes over nine cornerback draft prospects he'd like to see Brandon Beane and the Buffalo Bills draft, tiered into three categories in addition to debating if the Buffalo Sabres recent hot streak is a good longer term development. It's obvious the Bills will be targeting at least one cornerback in the draft and very likely early. As things stand Dane Jackson would be in line to start alongside Christian Benford and it's hard to fathom Bills brass considering that a Plan A. Defensive tackle and edge rusher are two other primary needs and who knows when Buffalo pulls the trigger on a corner. Patrick has three groups with three prospects in each that he really likes and discusses all of them, ranging from guys the Bills could be fortunate to land at pick No. 30 all the way through a few likely early day three picks. Also, the Buffalo Sabres have caught fire, winning seven of their last eight games overall and have went 12-2 in their last 14 home games. There's a lot of things to like from what we've seen over the past month, but does it carry any significance beyond this season? Patrick makes cases for both the promising conclusion to yet another disappointing campaign having a positive long term impact versus potentially giving upper management a false sense of the realistic ceiling of this team as presently constructed.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, it's another edition of "The Podbag" as Patrick Moran is responding to questions and takes from listeners on several topics, including a discussion on which of the four big Buffalo Bills extensions can be considered "hometown discounts" after evaluating everything.Khalil Shakir, Terrel Bernard, Greg Rousseau and Christian Benford all signed four-year extensions with the Bills this offseason, a remarkable job by Brandon Beane and his staff anyway you slice it, and that doesn't even count the new Josh Allen contract. Many have called some or even all the deals extremely team friendly and even hometown discounts from the players. Patrick explains that why acknowledging every deal was one he is excited about, he stops short of calling them anything better than fair market deals in three of the four cases. Which is the one true deal Patrick feels falls well below what the player could've gotten a year from now in the open market? Also the never-ending James Cook drama took another twist this week when his house in Orchard Park was listed for sale. It has many fans angry and ready to turn the page on him right now. Patrick explains why he continues to dig his feet into the ground and insists you find a way to get another year of fully motivated James Cook before preparing to lose him in 2026.This week's Podbag also features a handful of draft questions and comments, including reaction to yesterday's first Bills mock draft that featured David Tilton from Cover 1.That plus a handful of Sabres take that show fans, and certainly not Patrick is the least bit sold on their hot streak of late and plenty more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens to discuss a variety of serious and unserious Buffalo Bills topics, including an outlandish scenario where the NFL forced the Bills to trade Josh Allen to another team for another player.Let's be really clear, the Bills will almost certainly never trade Josh Allen and there's a zero percent chance it would happen anytime soon. That doesn't stop the guys from having a little fun responding a question from the listener, who wants to know if the Bills absolutely had to trade Allen right now, who would be the player they'd make a one for one swap with, featuring an added caveat that the player couldn't be Patrick Mahomes.Sticking with silly, Patrick and Joe both have thoughts about it being revealed the Bills will be the subject of a Christmas movie coming this year on the Hallmark Channel — Holiday Touchdown: A Bills Love Story. It follows the same concept with the Kansas City Chiefs last year and Patrick goes over some of the funnier potential plotlines he's seen on social media, asking Joe to give a grade for each along with a few plotlines of their own.On the more serious side, Christian Benford became the latest young Bills start to sign an extension over the weekend and there's plenty of thoughts on it. That plus the NFL owners meetings, some poignant comments that make it seem like James Cook won't be getting an extension anytime soon if at all, and plenty more.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran's SubstackTwitter: @PatrickMoranTBBlue Sky: @PatrickMoranTB.bsky.socialInstagram: @PatrickMoranTBFacebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast
On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran discusses several of the top and second tier defensive lineman prospects that Buffalo Bills fans should definitely start familiarizing themselves with before the NFL Draft a handful of weeks from now. There's several reasons the Bills will be picking defensive line early and perhaps often in this draft. Between the looming six game suspensions of new free agent signees Michael Hoehct and Larry Ogunjobi, the expected ease with snaps early on with Joey Bosa and the fact several prominent lineman are in the final year of their deals (Bosa, Ogunjobi, Daquan Jones, AJ Epenesa) there's both immediate and long term needs there.Patrick goes over a lot of the top prospects at both edge and defensive tackle. James Pearce Jr. feels like a guy he thinks fans should keep an eye on at edge and wonders if Brandon Beane has the guts to take a chance with Mike Green while he'd be tickled pink to see Buffalo take Derrick Harmon or Kenneth Grant at defensive tackle with their first pick.He also shares his thoughts on Christian Benford's new contract, the incredible in-house offseason has put together and comments from the Bills GM that makes it sound like James Cook get a contract extension anytime soon is extremely far fetched. That plus show mixups and plenty more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. It's another edition of The Podbag on today's Talking Buffalo and Patrick Moran is responding to a bunch of outstanding questions and comments from listeners, including elaborating on why Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane has done a much better job at drafting since 2018 than a lot of critics give credit for.As with any general manager in sports, it's low hanging fruit to point out every draft miss that GM has made. Beane's certainly had some noticeable misses in the early rounds, including Kaiir Elam, Boogie Basham and Cody Ford to name a few, not to mention some rookies from last year who appear to have a long way to go. That said Patrick not only goes over several of Beane's best hits but goes deeper, revealing who the next prospect picked by another team in the draft was at the same position. It's insane to think what kind of shape the Bills would be in if Beane took the same positional player after guys likes Terrel Bernard, Khalil Shakir, Christian Benford, Spencer Brown and others. Also, there's pertinent questions submitted regarding the importance of James Cook and also how critical is for Keon Coleman to take a huge step in year two—or is it actually?Plus, reaction to Stefon Diggs going to New England, a move Patrick would love to see the Bills make before Week one and the high profile Stevie Johnson vs Darrelle Revis Twitter feud brewing. That plus a few hockey topics, Patrick discusses his favorite new TV show and much more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran dives into what the Buffalo Bills have done at cornerback so far this offseason and perhaps more importantly, what they will do at cornerback before the 2025 regular season begins.Brandon Beane has been busy adding to the defense so far during this free agency period, but those biggest additions have come on the defensive line where they've signed Joey Bosa, Michael Hoehct and Larry Ogunjobi. The safety position has also seen Damar Hamlin re-sign as well as the addition of Darrick Forrest. The cornerback position is starting to stick out as a need at this point, perhaps the team's biggest. The Bills did bring back Dane Jackson after letting him walk a year ago, but Rasul Douglas remains in free agent limbo and former first-round pick/bust Kaiir Elam was traded to Dallas. Whether Jackson ends up starting alongside Christian Benford, cornerback is in need of talent influx. Patrick talks about Benford, his thoughts on Jackson returning and three veteran free agent possibilities that could still happen, including Douglas.More than likely however, the Bills long term and perhaps immediate starting solution come come through the draft at the end of April. Patrick breaks down three prospects that could be very enticing to the Bills in the first round as well as three others who could be solid day two picks and contribute right away. That plus some NFL rule change proposals and more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. It's another edition of The Podbag today on Talking Buffalo and Patrick Moran is responding to your questions, comments and takes primarily about the Buffalo Bills, including Patrick hammering home that everything should be on the table for the Bills defense, not just a prominent edge rusher. It's certainly understandable why the Bills adding a game changing type of edge defender is the central point of almost any Bills conversation. Their inability to get after the quarterback has hurt them greatly over the course of several recent playoff elimination losses. Improving there absolutely should and has to be at the forefront for general manager Brandon Beane. However, Patrick outlines why having just one guy isn't enough and the Bills should be targeting at least two prime time level defenders that will cost plenty and explains why everything should be on the table for the unit, including adding a second outstanding corner to pair alongside Christian Benford and/or a top end safety like a Javon Holland. Also, Khalil Shakir signed a four-year extension with Buffalo this week and Patrick has plenty of thoughts on that. Was he their top priority because he re-signed first? Patrick doesn't think so. That plus continued talk about the 2024 draft class needing to be better, Dorian Williams being considered a "miss" after his first season, the Buffalo Sabres showing some fight in them and plenty more. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren of SB Nation to discuss some of the biggest dilemmas that Brandon Beane and the Buffalo Bills will be facing coming up soon this offseason. Beane and his staff have difficult decisions to make every offseason and this one will certainly be no different. Among the topics Patrick and Matt go over is if Buffalo will keep, restructure and cut Matt Milano and/or Von Miller and it comes clear you can make a case to keep one, both or none. Extensions could also play a huge role in the shape of this offseason. Greg Rousseau, James Cook, Khalil Shakir, Terrell Bernard and Christian Benford among others are all slated to go into the final years of their respective contracts. How many should be extended if possible and what should the pecking order be? Patrick admits to having some reservations about a few players based on how the postseason played out. The guys also chat about what they think should happen with the starting cornerback spot alongside Benford, feelings about Cole Bishop becoming a starter next year and a confidence in level in Keon Coleman taking a big step in his second year. They also have thoughts on a potential Garrett Myles trade, the Super Bowl on Sunday, a potential league rule change and much more.
