Ever wonder how detailed research can ignite a writer's imagination while crafting tales from the annals of history? Join our conversation with the gifted author Dom Nolan as he uncovers the magic behind writing historical fiction set against London's vivid past. Listen in as Dom dispels myths about the rigidity of planning in storytelling, offering a fresh perspective on the intricate dance between creativity and historical accuracy and insights behind his new novel, White City.Through Dom's story, we explore the unpredictable nature of creative careers and the resilience needed to navigate them, showing how each hurdle, including writing unpublishable novels, became a stepping stone toward eventual success. We also lift the veil on the evolving and often perplexing landscape of the publishing industry, where trust and timing can elevate a book's journey. The Golden Horseshoe Revue was an opening day attraction at Disneyland in 1955. Did you know, the first performance took place the day before Disneyland's official opening, to celebrate Walt and Lillian's 30th wedding anniversary. The Golden Horseshoe has a long history of entertainment, with the first original show running until October 1986. Other versions included a Variety Show, Billy Hill, and the Hillbilies, and Woody's Round-up to celebrate the opening of Toy Story 2 in 1999. Bíblia em um ano: Joel 1–3, Apocalipse 5 Nós amamos porque ele nos amou primeiro. 1 João 4:19 Escritura de hoje: Apocalipse 5:1-13 Em 1936, o compositor Billy Hill lançou um hit popular intitulado: The Glory of Love (A glória do amor).

Through the long list of shows and attractions that have come and gone at the Disneyland Resort, there are probably only a handful that could be brought back and dropped into place with no additions or plussing and still be popular. But what fun would that be? We decided to take a look back and see if we could bring some of these ancient relics back into the modern world. Plus, Jeremy from SpectroRadio spins up another SpectroTime segment - this time on Billy Hill and the Hillbillies!

Close up character interactions are also not going to be available at this time. The movie stars Michael Jackson, was written by George Lucas and directed by Francis Ford Coppola (who came up with the name "Captain EO" from the Greek, cf. Eos, the Greek goddess of dawn). The film was shown as part of an attraction with in-theater effects. The attraction returned to the Disney Parks in 2010 as a tribute after Jackson's death.Captain EO is regarded as one of the first "4D" films (4D being the name given to a 3D film that incorporates in-theater effects, such as lasers, smoke, etc., synchronized to the film)The film tells the story of Captain EO (Michael Jackson) and the ragtag crew of his spaceship on a mission to deliver a gift to "The Supreme Leader" (Anjelica Huston), who lives on a world of rotting, twisted metal and steaming vents. Captain EO's alien crew consists of his small flying sidekick Fuzzball, the double-headed navigator and pilot Idey (Debbie Lee Carrington) and Ody (Cindy Sorenson), robotic security officer Major Domo (Gary Depew), a small robot, Minor Domo (who fits like a module into Major Domo), and the clumsy elephant-like shipmate Hooter (Tony Cox) who always manages to upset the crew's missions. Dick Shawn plays Captain EO's boss, Commander Bog.AutopiaJunior Autopia (1956–1958): A version of the original Autopia geared towards children. The site of the Junior Autopia reopened a year later as the Fantasyland Autopia and is now part of the present-day Autopia.Midget Autopia (1957–1966): A version of the original Autopia geared towards young children. After the Midget Autopia closed, the ride was dismantled and sent to Walt Disney's hometown of Marceline, Missouri, where it operated for a few years. The site of the Midget Autopia is now the main walkway between It's a Small World and the rest of Fantasyland.Fantasyland Autopia (1959–1999): A version of the original Autopia, built on the site of the former Junior Autopia. The Fantasyland Autopia was known as the "Rescue Ranger Raceway" and themed to the Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers television series from 1991–1993. In this episode we delve into more of the situation that Billy Hill has had to deal with since 1983. He has dealt with so many different attacks from governmental agencies because of what seems, just because they want his land. If you haven't listened to Part 1 (Episode 15) than you need to.

She's working to catalog her stash. She is also preparing for her last round of Nerd Wars for a while. And she's getting ready for Stitches West. Jen has been working seriously long hours because of Flu season (stay healthy). The only good thing is that the extra lab time has given her more podcast listening time. She saw several movies, including The Hobbit, American Hustle, and Nebraska. She's been seeing her friend's band play. She and Ron also had a Disney Day to see the Winter World of Color and the last performance of Billy Hill and the Hillbillies. In the Knitting Bag: (17:08) Laura made a stripey hat out of acrylic remnants for Stripe it Up January. She's also making a premie hat for the Knitmore Girls Head to Toe collection. She's also working up the Olivia’s Butterfly Hat, reworking the pattern to be done in sport weight yarn for the Stitches West Passport Game. And she worked on her 22 Leaves Shawlette by Lankakomero, out of Mean Girls Yarn Club in Heart in a Box. She is still struggling with bead placement. Jen is working on her Sweetheart of the Rodeo sweater (her own design) out of Wollmeise DK in So Long Kitty (pink), Shalimar Breathless DK in Snopea (green), and Dream in Color Smooshy in Butterpeeps (yellow). She is also working on Twistygoo by Lisa M. Beamer in Knitpicks Brava in Wine. And she is working on a secret cowl. Finished Objects: (23:37) Laura finished two stripey hats. One was out of mystery acrylic and one was out of Dizzy Blonde DK mini skeins. Jen finished a Twistygoo out of Delicious Yarns Frosting Worsted in Blueberry and Pistachio, leftover from the gramps sweater she made for her nephew. She striped them for Stripe it Up January. She finished the California Poppy Shawl by Lydia Tsymbal out of Baah La Jolla in My Sweet Valentine for Melissa and a Gerri Hat in Peter Pan Wendy Yarn in the colorway speckled blue. And she finished her vanilla socks in very old Opal Sock Yarn (the Rainforest series, colorway Flamingo, which is pink). Frog Pond: (26:50) Jen had lots of gauge issues this week. She frogged her Kently Socks by Heather Ordover from Hitch: Patterns Inspired by the Films of Alfred Hitchcock because they were too big. She also had to completely frog her entire sweater, because her Wollmeise DK and her Shalimar Breathless DK do not give the same gauge on the same needles. She would have known that if she had swatched with both yarns. On Deck: (31:38) Laura is planning to do many stripey knit hats and crocheted hats and something for the Ravellenics. Jen will be making another stripey Twistygoo out of yellow Plymouth Encore Yarn and something else. She will also make other hats, she will make two pairs of Kently socks for the Knitmore Girls #matchymatchyKAL (a pair for her and a pair for Ron). She will also have her Ravellenics project. Knit Culture: (35:19) One of Jen's favorite Yarns We answer questions from our Knotty Talk Thread about stash and yarn. We talk about stash and how we store it. We also talk about our favorite yarns (Laura: Brooks Farm Primero (her oldest stash), Jen: Vice Yarn Paradigm in Drunken Cherries, also 1000 yards of white cashmere laceweight), needles (Laura: Hiya Hiya, Jen: partial to Knitpicks needles (affordable and sharp tips), Karbonz, and Chiaogoo, and Addi Lace), and knitting bags (Laura: Namaste Zuma Bag and Jordana Paige Bella Bag, Jen: Namaste Harlowe also Slipped Stitch Studios bags, but she also uses grocery totes and clear bags from Loopy Ewe). Don't forget to Flash Your Stash to win a digital copy of of Doomsday Knits courtesy of Cooperative Press. And post your stripey FOs for a chance at another TBD prize. We talk about the Ravellenic Games and Team Sasquatch. Knit for Ravellnics, Team Sasquatch, or both. Laura will be working on Down the Garden Path by Michele DuNaier and Jen will be doing a one-skein shawl of her own design. Geek Culture: (1:01:10) Neat Doctor Who baked goods picture gallery from a BBC America party. We want to know if you have thoughts on casting Michael Douglas in Ant-Man (which also has Paul Rudd). And we both love the Muppets Most Wanted trailer and are super excited! Events: (1:07:06) We will be at Stitches West, which is February 20-23 in Santa Clara, CA at the Convention Center. Dizzy Blonde Studios & Skeindalous Yarns are sharing a booth (booth 906 and 908). The Dizzy Blonde booth is a collection point for Halos of Hope hats for Team KnottyGirls (the final collection point!). With prizes! Shout out to the Purlescence Girls (who have the booth across from us) and we are right next to Halos of Hope (Booth 904). We will be doing a meet and greet Saturday 12:00-1:00 at the Dizzy Blonde Booth. We will be at the Friday Fashion Show and Banquet. Jen has a sweater in it (made with Laura's lovely yarn). We will be doing a World Wide Knit in Public event sometime between June 7 – June 15, 2014, location to be determined. Our next milestone prize will be at 1000 members, so join the Ravelry group! And don’t forget to knit hats and donate.

Billy Hill’s New Location … Mater’s … Luigi’s … Radiator Springs Racers
(((HEADPHONES STRONGLY RECOMMENDED))) This week, the Mouse Lounge reveals the magic of melody in Disneyland! But first, we go Behind the Mickey Bar, as Liana and I talk about the new Cars Land, the just opened Jolly Holiday Bakery, Castmember beards, Fastpass, and more. Next, a Mouse Lounge Special Feature: The BBCs Russell Davis looks at how the archives have treated to the two faces of Walt Disney. Uncle Walt, who brought laughter and pleasure to millions, and… the rather tough businessman and social engineer. Enjoy the second of a five part series, Double Disney. Then, from the Disney Archives: Based on the Oscar winning cartoon, “Toot Whistle Plunk and Boom” comes a marvelous record narrated by the unmistakable Thurl Ravenscroft. From the 1963 Disneyland Record DQ-1232, have a listen to “A Child’s Introduction to the Instruments of the Orchestra”. Don’t let the title fool you; this record was lavishly produced. It’s hard to believe this mini masterpiece landed in the kiddy records bin. Then, from Vault Disney: We focus on the music of two Silly Symphonies from the thirties. The first is “Music Land” from 1935 and “The Woodland Café” from 1937. Both are perfect examples of the use of music to further the narrative, and are just great fun to listen to. I’ll provide a description of the of the plot for Music Land, so you can better follow along. Each show we present a high definition ride-through from a Disney Park East or a Disney Park West. Did you know that Disneyland boasts ten different live performance groups that play in all four corners of the park? This episode, you’ll get to hear from every one of them! You’ll hear, the Main Street Piano Player, The Dapper Dans, Hook and Ladder Company, the Straw Hatters, Billy Hill and the Hillbillies, Farley the Fiddler, The Bootstrappers, The Jambalaya Jazz Band, The Royal Street Bachelors, and The Pearly Band. Plus, you’ll hear special performances recorded on Fat Tuesday of the New Orleans Jazz Band, The Bayou Bash featuring Princess Tiana, and the Disneyland Band performing it’s full noontime concert with the theme, “Sunday in the Park”. (((HEADPHONES STRONGLY RECOMMENDED))) This episode, the Mouse Lounge gets in the Christmas spirit, Disney style First, in From the Vault, we dust off an old radio recording of Walt and his gang of cartoon characters circa 1934. You’ve never heard Donald Duck more irascible or the Three Little Pigs repressible, despite the Big Bad Wolf’s insistence that they, come over for dinner. My wife was shocked to hear this sequence, commenting, “I’m so used to hearing Walt when he was older and had smoked for so many years. I can believe this voice could be Mickey Mouse. He was a tenor when he was a young man!” Indeed he was. Next, we journey to the Disney properties and take in live performances. You’ll go into the now long gone Adventurers Club, visit Yehaa Bob, hear the Daper Dans, DCA’s Miner 49’ers, The Jambalaya Jazz Band, and Billy Hill and the Hillbillies. Then, we take a spot in the shadow between the Matterhorn and Sleeping Beauty Castle to watch, A Christmas Fantasy Parade. This is a special Mouse Lounge Mix. Finally, as has become a Christmas tradition on the Mouse Lounge, I’ll play for you some of my personal Christmas favorites. They may not be Disney, but they’re sure to get you into the spirit of the season! And now, ladies and gentlemen, the tree is trimmed, the egg nog is out, and there’s a warm fire in the fireplace. Sit back and enjoy Mouse Lounge Christmas tidings… Gary Chambers (805) 270-5785 The Mouse Lounge http://www.mouselounge.com Subscribe to our write a review about the Mouse Lounge Podcast: http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=180696323 The Mouse Lounge is a fan-based podcast and is not affiliated with the Walt Disney Company or its subsidiaries. Okay, so this entry isn't technically a "short".Clocking in at a half hour, the Billy Hill and the Hillbillies show in the Golden Horseshoe Saloon is anything but short. However that time always seems to fly past entirely too quickly. Well now you can relive the experience! This was recorded from the balcony at stage right with my father (on his first trip to Disneyland since the age of 10!) sitting next to me, taking it all in for the first time. (((HEADPHONES STRONGLY RECOMMENDED))) This week, the Mouse Lounge stakes a homestead in Frontierland. Also on the show, as always, a full docket of Disney News from departments Entertainment, Theme Parks East, Theme Parks West, and Business. In From the Vault we present Roy Rogers and the Songs of the Pioneers telling the tale of Pecos Bill. This true album of three 78RPM records was originally released on RCA records in 1949, six years before the inception of Disneyland Records. Each week we present a high definition ride-through from a Disney Park East or a Disney Park West. Since we're in Frontierland (and by popular request) we have a seat in Slue Foot Sue's Golden Horseshoe for a rip roarin' performance of Billy Hill and the Hillbillies. This is an (almost) unedited performance played to a packed housein the original Magic Kingdom and the energy is wonderfully contagious! From the Disney Family Museum: Walt talks about how the studio produced pictures for children. Or did it? We close the show with Sarah Mclachlans poignant heartstrings tugging performance of When She Loved Me from Toy Story 2. Enjoy!
