Franco shared his struggles with infertility and negative reactions from loved ones when he decided to become a stepdad. He emphasized the importance of building trust and respect with his stepchildren's mother and earning the trust and respect of his stepchildren to participate in parenting fully. Franco and I discussed the importance of self-development in becoming a successful stepdad and leader, emphasizing the need to work on personal growth constantly and understanding oneself. The conversation also touched on the impact of childhood experiences on personal growth and understanding what it means to be a man. We also discussed the importance of understanding love languages for effective communication with children and the need to listen to and understand their needs. The conversation highlighted the importance of personal growth and reflection in becoming a better person and parent. Whether through adoption, foster care, orphan care, or education and counseling, the mission is accomplished when churches live out James 1:27 in their communities and to the ends of the earth. Lifeline's four decades of experience serves to assist families with international adoption in all 50 states, each of the U.S. territories and with U.S. citizens living abroad. For many years, I worked as a Birth Doula, and later as a Shantala Baby Massage Instructor. Our family has fostered teens, and been a perspective adoptive family at one time. In my counselling work, I use art, writing, and play as a primary means of emotional processing and healing in my work with youths. The work I do is healing, intuitive, rewarding, and creative. Expressive art and play is a powerful and dynamic way to move forward in one's journey. It is a privilege to witness clients process and find their inner voice, courage, and strength. In my local practice, I work primarily with youths and their families, supporting them in learning new skills such as: communication, emotional regulation, increased self awareness, managing anxiety, boundaries, and how to deepen family connections. Clients learn how to tune into their bodies and their emotions. One of the fundamental skills they learn is how to practice self-care when they recognize they are experiencing troubling emotions; they learn that the emotions are a signal to them that something needs their attention. Together we learn how to pay attention, how to process, how to hear the message and transform, moving forward."Her website and group is a safe space especially for Late Discovery Adoptees to make connections, learn and share:https://www.latediscoveryadoptees.com/https://www.facebook.com/groups/355308151597261/Connect with her on socialhttps://www.instagram.com/late_discovery_adoptees/

Unapologetic Parenting
Behind Most Stepmom vs Biomom Conflict Is A Man Not Doing His Job

Unapologetic Parenting

I firmly believe that there is no reason for a stepmom and a biomom to be having direct conflict with one another. I also am of the opinion that in most cases direct communication between a biomom and stepmom is completely unnecessary.Maybe I am biased in my view, but to me the root issue behind direct stepmom and biomom conflict is a man (biodad) who is not fulfilling his role in the situation. Here's what I mean—dad is ultimately responsible for the kids. The one who is ultimately accountable for what happens to and with and for the kids at dad's home is dad.His kids are his responsibility. Stepmom is dad's first priority. When there is direct conflict between a stepmom and a biomom, it is typically because biodad is improperly delegating (or avoiding) his responsibility and not prioritizing his wife and their relationship.Dad is responsible for his kids. It is his role and responsibility to care for them as their primary caretaker in his home and to do the work necessary to parent them. Period. When there is direct conflict between the biomom and stepmom, it is often because dad is avoiding his responsibilities to communicate and coordinate matters for the kids. His wife and their relationship is his first priority...not second or less to the kids. First priority. Period. When biodad allows mistreatment and harassment to occur toward his wife, he is not prioritizing who and what matters. His role is to set boundaries with his own ex and to deescalate matters for his wife. If his ex is causing his wife problems, then it is his job to put an end to it.If he is allowing his wife to torment his ex, then he and his wife are probably bonding over his ex in a dysfunctional way (making her the object of their connection)...which prioritizes his ex in the relationship. Worse still is a man who allows the conflict because he enjoys women fighting over him.Any way you look at it, when direct stepmom vs biomom conflict exists, there is a man not doing his job. There is absolutely no need for such conflict. If dad is accountable for his responsibilities and prioritizing his wife, then harassment and conflict and argumentation should not occur.
