She's a mom of four and married to the top barbecue guy in the state. We dig into Heidi's story with this one.  Before founding Camp Bow Wow, Heidi suffered the tragic loss of her husband in a stunt plane crash, and was a single mom with two dogs after a failed 2nd marriage.  The idea for Camp Bow Wow was sourced from a stack of back-of-napkin business ideas sketched out with her first husband.  Heidi shares their launch story, why they decided to franchise and what was involved, and some of the principles and values that she instilled in that organization to help it become one of the fastest-growing franchises in America for many years!   And, there's so much more - as always we get into faith, family, and politics, and she shares a bit about her why in regards to running for Governor - watch out Colorado, Heidi Ganahl is a mom on a mission!

One specifically was my mom, Heidi Ganahl – founder of Camp Bow Wow, the world's largest pet-care franchise. But when it came time to go off on my own, I was determined to pave my own path. But something was missing. As everyone around me was deciding where they would move or what job they would take, I was discouraged. Even after 45 informational interviews, I was feeling like I would never find the perfect match. A week later, I got a call from a recruiter and solidified a position in Portland, OR in IT staffing. After a year with the company, even though I was on the path to success, I was still feeling like there was something more for me – I was craving passion and purpose.Enter SHEFACTOR™ – a brand my mom and I built together that inspires young women to live life with greater authenticity, empowerment, and joy. And it's changed everything for me – I've learned so much about myself and pushed myself harder than I knew possible. I've identified what makes me tick, what I value, and how to be the best version of myself. But how could my journey have been different if I had a roadmap to help me realize my full potential sooner? There's more pressure than ever for young women to succeed in their career, but no focus on a holistic approach to balancing everything in their lives, to feeling fulfilled. This week on the See It To Be It podcast, we talk to Heidi and Tori Ganahl, a mother daughter duo turned female entrepreneurs! Heidi shares her journey to becoming a businesswoman. The start of her entrepreneur spirit was with Camp Bow Wow in 2000, which is a day care and boarding school for dogs. Camp Bow Wow has now grown into 160 camps in North America and holds the lead in the continents largest pet care franchise. Tori Ganahl graduated from the University of Oregon when she was left feeling lost and unsure of what her passion was in life. Tori became the guinea pig for her mom’s book She Factor to really see if this methodology would actually work for young women struggling through this stage of life. Needless to say, it does. Her life did a complete 180. In 2019, Heidi and Tori launched their lifestyle brand called SheFactor. SheFactor is a platform for young women craving a sense of community, growth, and purpose. Their overarching goal is to inspire women to become confident, successful leaders of their own lives- their “Journey to She”. Tori explains that finding your passion in life is the driving factor into becoming an entrepreneur and a successful young woman. She adds that the most success you will ever have is by trusting your intuition and not letting outside voices get in the way of your vision. Heidi tells us that she has learned how the younger generation learns, engages and communicates from Tori. Heidi and Tori discuss how SheFactor has transformed from live in person events to all digital and how they have navigated the transition to all online. Heidi concludes with the future of SheFactor, their goal is to keep growing their movement and to reach out to other brands to partner and grow their community. SheFactor has reached 1 million women in the first year and now their goal is the reach 5 million in five years. It still won't be the same but it's a welcome relief for those stuck in their homes for the last two months.   And it seems that we are getting more and more desperate to get a groom, well as it turns out there's no plans for salons and barber shops to open, but https://jerseyjobsandbiz.com/podcast/randy-defazio-camp-bow-wow-in-bridgewater/ (previous guest and owner of Camp Bow-Wow) is able to bring in limited customers.  And while we weren't able to record a joint show, both Patrice and Mathew were able to connect with some incredible people across the Garden State about their Covid experience. Here's a list of recent episodes to check out... https://jerseyjobsandbiz.com/podcast/josh-mccallen-dan-alicea-renault-winery-resort/ (Renault Winery) https://jerseyjobsandbiz.com/podcast/jonathan-kalafer-chairman-somerset-patriots-bridgewater/ (Somerset Patriots) https://jerseyjobsandbiz.com/podcast/craig-springer-good-life-center-for-mental-health/ (Dr. Craig Springer) https://jerseyjobsandbiz.com/podcast/melanie-dare-president-salon-dare-hillsborough/ (Salon Dare) https://jerseyjobsandbiz.com/podcast/dan-cooley-cooley-creative-media/ (Cooley Creative) https://jerseyjobsandbiz.com/podcast/erik-cabral-marketer-investor-podcaster-from-trenton/ (On Air Brands) https://jerseyjobsandbiz.com/podcast/super-joe-pardo-of-sewell-nj/ (Super Joe Pardo) If you have a story to share please fill out the contact form at https://jerseyjobsandbiz.com/ (JerseyJobsAndBiz.com) or you can email us directly at info@jerseyjobsandbiz.com. This week's Extraordinary Women Radio interview with Heidi Ganahl, the founder of Camp Bow Wow, is so good! Heidi has a passion for keeping the American dream alive and well! That’s because she’s been living it. And it wasn’t all a simple and easy path to get there. Heidi has faced extraordinary adversity in her life. Beginning with the loss of her husband at the age of 27, to losing a million-dollar insurance settlement, her entrepreneurial spirit helped her pick herself up and build a $100 million brand in the pet and franchise industry – Camp Bow Wow. In fact she’s well known for her Ted Talk called the Art of the Comeback, where she shares this powerful comeback story. Today she shares this journey she took and the lessons she learned along the way. In fact one of the things that struck me in this interview – was the most timely wisdom I’d heard all week – if not all year! “Be the best you can be at what you’re doing at the time, and forgive yourself for not being the best at everything all the time. You’ve got to let go of that.” The next day I wrote about this wisdom in my blog "Yesterday I broke."  Such timely words for me on that day. Camp Bow Wow was named to the Inc 500/5000 fastest growing company list five years in a row. Heidi has been named one of Fortune Magazine’s 10 Most Promising Entrepreneurs and Parade magazine called her one of the top women entrepreneurs in the country. And she’s not done yet! She’s about ready to launch her next entrepreneurial venture the She Factor - which is all about women and dreams! Heidi shares more about this in the interview! This interview is filled with so many great bits of wisdom, including: To comeback giveback On Passion: If you don’t absolutely love what you’re doing and jump out of bed every morning to get to work, it’s not worth doing. This is the difference of being a huge success and just getting by. But... you can’t just be passionate about something – you have to solve a problem. Stop apologizing for capitalism and free markets and embrace it. Fall back in love with what makes America an incredibly cool place. We're going to fail - brush it off. In the world of fake news, the only one you can trust is yourself and your intuition (she jokes). Follow Heidi on Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn. Let's meet Heidi Ganahl the founder of the She Factor and Camp Bow Wow.
