Where fairytales come true: a story on how to live your best life I have secretly been planning this podcast episode — all about how to live your best life — in my mind for more than two years. Bringing this story to you, friend, is…well, a dream come true. As you'll soon hear, it all started once upon a time, many, many years ago. There I was, presenting at a conference, when Stephanie Osmundson and Loreal Hemenway made themselves known to me. And then…well, you'll just have to listen to this episode to get the rest of the story because their tale is the stuff that living your dreams is made of. (Spoiler alert: Stephanie and Loreal are a case study on what it means to “live your dream” and they'll show you how!) How to live your best life now Stephanie and Loreal are not only best friends (and have been for many years), they are also business partners and the owners of Happily Ever Elementary. Most of all, they are — literally — living their best life now! And on today's podcast episode, they will not only share what it means to live your best life, they will also offer strategies and tools for you to do the same. As Stephanie and Loreal attest, you can become anything that you want to become, friend! The trick, of course, is to get really clear on what you want first. And if you can figure that out, anything (and I mean ANYTHING) is possible. As a teaser, their happily ever after includes being both stay-at-home moms AND teachers in the classroom. Are you ready to begin living your dream? Listen to this episode for all of the inspiration… ABOUT STEPAHNIE AND LOREAL AND HAPPILY EVER ELEMENTARY Stephanie and Loreal are two young teachers who are on a mission to make classroom dreams come true! This journey revolves around bringing meaningful engagement to instruction and creating beautiful learning spaces that remind children of Disneyland. They are also both mamas to two boys, with Loreal's first precious daughter on the way. In an effort to spend more time with their growing families, the two will be splitting a teaching contract for the first time at their neighborhood elementary school. It is a dream come true for these two teachers and now they can focus on finding the longed-for work life balance. In this episode, you will learn: How living your dream begins with turning your back on fear That to succeed you must START Why building trust first is instrumental to live your best life now That when failure befalls, being honest, open, and genuine may allow you to connect more fully with your audience That living your dream begins by ASKING for what you want LINKS MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE ABOUT HOW TO LIVE YOUR BEST LIFE: The CEO Teacher® The Classroom to

What Teacher Maternity Leave Actually Looks Like & How to Navigate it For all of you mamas, soon to be mamas, or anyone who hopes to start a family of their own one day, here's a little bit about my FIRST fully planned teacher maternity leave. You're not going to believe this, but I only took my first teacher maternity leave with my fourth child (that's right, child number FOUR). I'd never taken maternity leave for a teacher before child number four because...well...I was a slave to my job. Friend, I don't want this to be you. So today, I want to share what I've learned after 3 failed maternity leaves and what I'm doing this time to make it better. By the time you're reading this, my very own baby number 5 should be here! And, regardless if you're a teacher, a CEO Teacher, or somewhere in between, there's something here for everyone. Your Teacher maternity leave checklist revealed I want to be very real -- teacher maternity leave is very different than most jobs. I've had students ask me before, “do teachers get maternity leave?” Well, yes, but it requires a lot more work and preparation. It's not as easy as, ok guys - see y'all in 6-8 weeks! I hope it works out! Instead, you've got an entire room of students, other teachers, parents, and administrators wondering, “how long is this teacher maternity leave going to last and did she write a teacher maternity leave letter?” among many other things. Also, even after I left the classroom, I launched my first course 2 months before my most recent baby was born and, although I said I was on maternity leave, I wasn't. I was working around the clock on my laptop to help students. I didn't set myself up for success. So this time, I have vowed to make sure my hiney sits in that rocking chair for a million miles so I can enjoy every. Single. Second. Listen here to learn what you can do to prepare to get the most out of your teacher maternity leave! In this episode, you will learn: What steps you need to take to enjoy the most out of your maternity leave How to prioritize what needs to get done before you take your first day of your maternity leave as a teacher What your teacher maternity calendar might look like Why you don't want to wait until the last minute to find out your local requirements for Teacher Maternity Leave and/or Paternity Leave The importance of a well crafted teacher maternity leave letter to parents and students Links Mentioned in this Episode about teacher maternity leave: The CEO Teacher's Marketing with Email Guide: kaysemorris.com/email Maternity leave in the United States Georgia Southwestern State University U.S. Department of Labor Family and Medical Leave (FMLA) Parental Leave Frequently Asked Questions CEO Teacher® Resources Worth Their Weight in Gold: What's your CEO Teacher® Type? How to run your own race as a Teachers pay Teachers Top Seller Hey there CEO Teacher friend! I want to take you back in time and, no, I'm not talking Marty-McFly-Back-to-the-Future in time, but instead I'm talking back to the Teachers Pay Teachers days of yore. Back then, Teachers pay Teachers top sellers could be listed on a coveted “top 100” list. Ahhhhhh yes -- each week, TpT sellers would break out their pencil and paper and take notes on where they stood in the Teachers pay teachers rankings. And once upon a time, I even watched my face slide from page 18 to page 1 on the Georgie list and, eventually, into the top 10 in the state. And let me tell you - I was relentless. I kept notes, dates, timelines, goals, and...you get the idea. Am I still competitive? Yes. Am I still obsessed about where I stand? Ew, no. Nor do I care. And a lot has changed for the Teachers pay Teachers top sellers list, also. A few years back, TpT decided to do away with their teachers pay teachers sellers list altogether. This decision left some people in a tizzy. Some people were happy. Some people were sad. Me? Well, I was indifferent. A year or so prior, I had already made the decision to to keep my head down and run my own race. And interestingly, the year I decided to stop fighting for first place on a silly leaderboard was about the same time my business hit a million dollars in just 10 months… Stop searching for the Teachers Pay Teachers Top Sellers List and start selling on Teachers pay Teachers In today's episode, I'll give you what I did to make it as a teachers pay teachers top seller...with or without the list. Because it's still a coveted thing that a lot of you are searching for (I did my SEO homework!). Why an email marketing campaign is about to become your new best friend… Hey there CEO Teacher! Today we’re talking all about email marketing campaign ideas because, well, let’s look at the numbers: for every ONE DOLLAR you spend as a business owner on an email marketing campaign, the average return is $42. And even if you’re investing time and energy in addition to dollars, an email strategy is still about 122% more effective than ANY social media strategy when it comes to making sales. Plus there’s even more to consider. For instance, the average email open rate is around 20-30%, which might not seem like a very large jump, but compared to the average social media reach — which is closer to only 3% of your audience — that's a monumental leap. Clearly, the numbers tell the story. That is – the best campaign IS to have an email marketing campaign. How to get started with your CEO Teacher Email Marketing Campaign Ideas In today’s episode, I’m sharing email examples, templates, and strategies that’ll get you started making the best email marketing campaign. In fact, I don’t just want you to only make a few sales with your email marketing campaign. Instead, I want you to build a community that trusts you, loves what you’re doing, and looks forward to hearing from you…every time you send an email. So whether this is your first or your one hundredth email, listen here to set your best campaign in motion! In this episode, you will learn: How an email marketing campaign strategy will reach more people than a facebook ad Why playing the long game is the best campaign strategy That building relationships with your email subscribers and prioritizing connections will lead to more sales Where, how, and why to simplify your email marketing campaign templates through SIMPLE email tech tools Why you should ALWAYS continue to build your email list Links Mentioned in this Episode about email marketing campaign strategies kaysemorris.com/convertkit kaysemorris.com/email ConvertKit Kajabi Neil Patel About Email Marketing The CEO Teachergram Challenge: kaysemorris.com/teachergram CEO TEACHER® RESOURCES WORTH THEIR WEIGHT IN GOLD: What's your CEO Teacher® Type? Dorothy also recommends a practice of Examen, or even just confession, as the glue that holds her marriage together. How Much Money do Teachers Make a Year & How to Become Financially Whole Hey CEO Teachers! Have you ever wondered, “how much money do teachers make an hour?” Or “how much money do teachers make a month?” Well, in today’s episode, you’re in for a real treat because we’re going to flip those questions on their head! You’re going to hear about how much money teachers make per year AND you’re going to see — no matter what your salary is or where you’re starting out — how you can find financial wholeness with it. A Whole Lot More than “How Much Money do Teachers Make Per Year” with Financial Wholeness Today, I’m interviewing one of my new favorite authors and, let’s be real, one of my soon-to-be best friends — Tiffany “The Budgetnista” Aliche. Tiffany is America's favorite personal financial educator and the author of Get Good with Money. Through her Live Richer Movement, Tiffany has helped over one million women save, manage, and pay off millions of dollars. As a former teacher with ten years in the classroom and a Master's degree in Education, Tiffany was instrumental in getting The Budgetnista Law (A1414) passed in January 2019, making financial education mandatory for middle school students in New Jersey. Plus, while Tiffany has helped millions of women find financial freedom, she has also interrogated the question, “how much money do teachers make per year?” and she’s going to show you how any teacher can move towards financial freedom through ten core components (which, of course, she’ll share!). Give this episode a listen to get good with your money! In this episode, you will learn: Life as a teacher – real talk: how Tiffany slayed her finances and managed to create a SIGNIFICANT savings with a very modest, straight-out-of-college teacher’s salary The biggest difference between Financial Freedom and Financial Wholeness, and why the latter is much more important Tiffany’s Top 10 Ways to Achieve Financial Wholeness Strategies and tried-and-true tips to finding, selecting, and working with a money team (such as a financial advisor or financial experts) LINKS MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE ABOUT HOW TO MOVE FROM “MAKING MONEY” TO FINANCIAL WHOLENESS AS A TEACHER Tiffany Aliche on Facebook Tiffany Aliche on Instagram The Budgetnista on Twitter The Budgetnista on YouTube kaysemorris.com/go CEO TEACHER® RESOURCES WORTH THEIR WEIGHT IN GOLD: What's your CEO Teacher® Type? And how your desires can help you sell more on Teachers Pay Teachers Let me take you back in time to four years ago…to a time when I was merely beginning to understand how to sell on Teachers pay Teachers. Ya know, I’d really just begun to start making any traction with sales on my Teachers pay Teachers dashboard and my Teachers pay Teachers worksheets were starting to take off. With the little money I’d made from my Teachers pay Teachers sales, I bought a 1990s popup. Ohhhh and believe you me, friend, I had wanted that popup for SO LONG. My husband and I, we were going to a music festival and I was so proud to not be sleeping in a tent. We paid for that popup in CASH. But this popup didn’t have a bathroom. The popup didn’t have a shower. What the popup had was a real bed and an air conditioner. And I felt like I was on top of the world. That was just 4 years ago. Fast Forward to 2020. It’s the pandemic. My husband and I paid cash again, but this time, for a new RV with bunk beds, a kitchen, a tv, shower, air conditioner, a pull out couch, a master bedroom, and more. In 4 year’s time – my life has changed dramatically. From stressing about paying my Netflix bill to paying cash for nearly everything we own. It all started with selling on teachers pay teachers. How to sell on teachers pay teachers is the foundation of my company, The CEO Teacher, and selling on teachers pay teachers is how I got to where I am today…in more ways than just buying a camper. Or How to write Emails for TpT Sales Without selling Oh hey there, teach! On today’s show I’m going to share with you how we -- that is, we at Team Kayse -- write emails to teachers (and I don’t mean your kid’s teachers either, but instead I mean those teachers that might become your customers). Most of all, I am going to share with you the secrets behind how we grow our email lists by the THOUSANDS each month and how we use those emails to make TpT sales without selling. Sales on TpT are, of course, very important. But before you get too caught up selling to other TpT teachers, let’s look at a quote from one of my favorite books in order to reframe your mindsets for long-term success: "When we lead with a finite mindset in an infinite game, it leads to all kinds of problems, the most common of which includes the decline of trust, cooperation, and innovation. Leading with an infinite mindset in an infinite game, in contrast, really does move us in a better direction." - Simon Sinek For those of you who have been with me for a while, you know that I love a good book. And in The Infinite Game, Simon Senek asks us to shift our mindset from "I" to "we," to shift from short-term to the long-term thinking, and to shift from a TpT sale to adding value (okay, admittedly, that last one is mine… :)). In other words, it's real easy to say, "Man, I didn't make as many sales on TpT as I did last year at this time," or "I've only been able to create five products so far.” It’s more difficult to say: What am I doing now to support the life that I want to live? Who am I serving and how can I serve them better? And instead of being reactive, how can I take the data and be proactive? Take your TpT Sales to a New level On todays show, you’re going to get five actionable steps to start writing emails to your TpT teachers. Best of all, these emails will lead to TpT sales in a more nuanced and authentic approach. In other words, you’ll learn to write emails that lead to sales on TpT without selling. In this episode, you will learn: Five strategies that I use to write emails to TpT teachers How I’m going to write 15 to 30 podcast episodes in the next three weeks! What you can do to find your writing groove in order to make a TpT sale Why, if you only write one item each week, emails should be it How 56.6% of our blog traffic in the last 90 days has been organic using our 2021 blogging keyword strategy, the same strategy we teach inside of The CEO Teacher School Links Mentioned in this Episode that’ll help you with your TPT Sales For resources and inspiration, kaysemorris.com/books Simon Sinek’s The Infinite Game More about Simon Sinek Donald Miller’s Building a Story Brand More about Donald Miller kaysemorris.com/quiz The CEO Teachergram Challenge: kaysemorris.com/teachergram CEO Teacher® Resources Worth Their Weight in Gold: What's your CEO Teacher® Type? Because the smaller your Instagram account is, the better your Instagram engagement rate is likely to be. Smaller accounts are likely to have followers that actually know them personally. Micro influencers generally have stronger relationships than anyone else on the gram, and they are defined as accounts from 0 - 100,000 followers. Wow! Boost your conversion rate on Teacher Pay Teachers through Video Previews A few years ago, Teachers Pay Teachers (TpT) rolled out a new initiative that allows you to attach a video preview to your TpT Products. And ever since, there have been a LOT of questions. Questions like: What can this do for my TpT Marketing? Will a preview actually increase my TpT Sales? And most of all...how do I even get started with video? Why Video Preview Matters Video previews are so successful because your customers get to see themselves using your TpT products before they buy them. Think about it. Influencer culture works because we can see ourselves living that life. And the same thing is true for your TpT products. A video allows a teacher to visualize using your products, which means that it will be easier for that same teacher to make the decision to purchase your products. Meet Chloe Tascoff, the Video Marketing Expert In this episode, I’ve invited Chloe Tascoff, an expert in the TpT video preview field to share a few powerful reasons why video marketing should matter to you. Chloe started creating videos for TpT sellers in 2019 and, while she has her own store, she also leaned into video production and marketing. Talk about using something you’re good at to diversify your income! You’re going to be amazed. By focusing on video, she tripled her sales in one month! Listen here and learn what TpT video preview might start doing for you. In this episode, you will learn: -What video editing program is easier to use than iMovie… -Why most people prefer to watch video online -Which three areas to focus on in order to create a professional-looking video -Where else you can use your TpT video previews -And which social media platform is optimized for your videos! FROM TEACHERS PAY TEACHERS (TPT) SYSTEMS TO TEACHERS PAY TEACHERS SALES Hey CEO Teacher! Early in my days of Teacher Pay Teachers (TpT) sales and my CEO Teacher business, I thought I had a secret weapon. I was convinced I could outwork anyone. ANYONE, I tell you. After all, I worked hard. I worked harder than anyone I knew. I even once said, “Hey competitors, you can’t outwork me!” Wow, was I wrong! Anyone — and I mean ANYONE — can outwork you, friend. So learn from me and instead of saying, “I can outwork anyone,” can you say, “I have the systems in place to make sure my work today isn’t in vain”? Saying that second thing is the true test of being a CEO Teacher. SELLING ON TEACHERS PAY TEACHERS GROWS WITH SYSTEMS In today’s show, I’m going to teach you how to use 5 systems to transform your teacher work muscle into a real replicable model. Lather, rinse, and repeat. Even if you’re just starting out, even if you’ve made zero dollars, OR even if you’ve made $100,000 selling on TpT…these systems don’t require years of experience or fancy tech skills. These systems only require methodical and strategic preparation. Here’s one last thought from Atomic Habits author, James Clear: “When you fall in love with the process rather than the product, you don’t have to wait to give yourself permission to be happy. You can be satisfied anytime your system is running.” Thank you, James — I couldn’t agree more. Get ready to fall in love with the process and stand tall with TpT sales growth through these five systems! IN THIS EPISODE, YOU WILL LEARN: How to funnel your 537-and-some TpT business store ideas into one cohesive and actionable business plan Why a simple template will skyrocket your TpT sales What the power of a support system can do for you as a CEO Teacher When tracking key metrics will help you see “what’s working” and when tracking metrics is just a destruction and reinforces, “what simply makes you excited to post.” LINKS MENTIONED: EXCLUSIVE 4-day video training series: kaysemorris.com/learn OTHER RESOURCES: Take my Teacherpreneur Type Quiz here!
