This is Draw The Line Radio Show with Jacki-E, presenting the best music from female producers and DJs. Helping me Draw The Line this week it's Thought Criminal from Aberdeen in Scotland. A vinyl DJ known for hard, high-energy mixes combining industrial, acid and old skool techno with a liberal sprinkling of trance, rave and hard house, she's inspired by the women and queer DJs who dominated Aberdeen's club scene in the 90s and early 2000s, Her first DJ gigs were at Aberdeen LGBT clubs Castro's and Fidel's. Recent gigs include dark, dirty house in Dundee for Dirty as Funk where she holds a DJ residency; Edinburgh for all-womxn collective Epika; and brutal techno in a grain silo in Fife for Bad Bhudda. Last summer she headlined Sabotage, an underground party that has quickly grown into Aberdeen's premier queer clubbing event. In June she's DJ-ing at queer cabaret night Glory and a multi-rig free party. The set she's done for us is an all vinyl- 90s classics, hard house with a hiNRG Trade vibe recorded at experimental queer performance event Crack. Stu Watts chats with Jack Arentz, who is a prolific songwriter, producer and mix engineer, and co-owner of Joyluck Studio in Thornbury, Melbourne. Recent years have seen Jack cut his teeth working with artists such as Golden Features, The Presets, LucianBlomkamp and Cam Bluff, while lending his services as a songwriter, mix engineer and producer to acts such as I Know Leopard, Congrats and Mild Minds. Signed to major music publisher Warner/Chappell and electronic dance label TMRW Music, Jack's studio credits also include releases for Ivy League, Warner, Sony, Counter Records, Remote Control and more. His work has received rotation across triple j, Double j and triple j Unearthed, been shortlisted twice as a finalist in the Vanda and Young songwriting competition, and nominated for an AIR award. 2018 - 2021 saw the eclectic producer bring his music to the stage, performing live with Kult Kyss supporting the Presets on their national HI VIZ tour, showcasing at BIGSOUND, performing on ABC TV's show ‘The Set', as well as EMC Live and Sidney Myer Music Bowl. Jack's work also extends to film and TV, with his recent creation of the original theme music and motifs for ABC TV's show 'Art Works'. Roosevelt - "Luna," a 2023 single from Counter Records. Marius Lauber — the German-based producer who records as Roosevelt — shares a funky summertime groove for today's Song of the Day. The track definitely nods to his recent collaborations with artists like Nile Rodgers and Classixx.  “'Luna' started as a jam with a bass line two years ago — it was laying on my hard drive already when doing my last album Polydans and it never really developed into a song," he explains in a press statement. "I've reconnected with some of my old equipment and a stripped down setup in the last months and finally made it work, turning it into a funk driven dance track.”  Roosevelt will be playing Friday, October 6th at the Showbox at the Market. Les 7 membres de Submotion Orchestra nous viennent de Leeds. Leur style musical est typique des groupes UK tant les influences sont diverses et puisent autant dans les musiques fondatrices qu’actuelles (Electronica, Dubstep, Soul, Jazz) s’assurant dès leur début l’adoubement des tenors de la radio anglaise Gilles Peterson, Trevor Nelson et autre Jo Whiley. Sans compter les grands festivals comme le Big Chill qui leur ont ouvert leurs portes en grand. Un tel plébiscite qui leur a valu une place de choix au sein de Counter Records, un label de la galaxie Ninja Tunes, aux cotés d’Andreya Triana et The Heavy. Leur 3ème album « Alium » est le fruit de cette collaboration et c’est la délicieuse chanteuse Ruby Wood et le clavier Taz modi qui représenteront le groupe mercredi pour nous en parler.
