If you've ever come across a colossal mural featuring countless Buddhas lined up side-by-side, you might have witnessed Amanda Giacomini's renowned "10,000 Buddhas" masterpiece. Amanda has graced the world with the beauty of this artwork. Her 10,000 Buddhas project was inspired by a pilgrimage to the Ajanta caves in India, where she encountered a two-thousand-year-old mural depicting a thousand Buddhas meditating together. In this memory lane episode, she discussed her inspiration, the significance of the Buddha's image to her, overcoming creative setbacks, her artistic process, decades of yoga practice, and her collaborations with her husband, MC Yogi (on last week's episode). Dr. Linda Mercadante a Distinguished Research Professor, Emerita, Methodist Theological School in Ohio. and founder of HealthyBeliefs discussed her journey from being "spiritual but not religious" to becoming a scholar of religion. She argues for more research and understanding into the growing numbers of Americans identifying as such. In her book, "Beliefs without Borders: Inside the Minds of the Spiritual But Not Religious," Mercadante shares her research findings from a listening tour across the US, Canada, Mexico, and beyond. She discovered that while sociologically, people identifying as “spiritual but not religious” are quite different, they share many common beliefs — including rejecting the word "God" while still believing in something bigger than themselves. Welcome to our 2nd Episode of 4 in our series about the Mind Body Connection. In this episode we focus on Yoga and all of the amazing benefits it offers. If you have never tried yoga or you have taken a class or 2 but didn't feel like it was for you, we encourage you to listen to this episode and learn a little more about it.There are many different kinds of yoga, so the chance of being able to find one that suits our needs is actually quite high. In this episode we speak to all of the incredible benefits you receive from a yoga practice. The list is quite lengthy but here are just a few of the physical benefits... increased flexibility, increased strength, muscle toning, increased balance, weight reductions and circulatory health improvement. Yoga also has a mental component that makes it so functional and good for the whole body. The breathing, movement and mindfulness components in yoga allow for the mind to calm and thus can lower blood pressure, cortisol levels and create an overall physical and mental feeling of wellbeing. In this episode we share our experiences growing up with yoga and how we employ all of its wonderful benefits today. We encourage listeners to try out new classes in person if possible because of the opportunity to connect with and create community. There is something really magical about sharing the choreographed movement and breathing with others in the same room, even if you don't know them personally. Elise talks about the classes that she took from MC Yogi, a very well known Yogi that owns an awesome studio in Point Reyes Ca. His unique techniques and music make his classes incredibly fun and effective. We also suggest trying out yoga classes online if the in-person classes are unaccessible and/or there is apprehension about skill level in a group setting. Adriene Mishler has a phenomenal Youtube yoga practice that she shares with the world. Her practicality, simplicity and humor allow for her to meet the yoga needs of the many. There are even apps that have yoga you can do every day, for example Asana Rebel. Nicole talks about working at Wanderlust which is an international yoga festival held all over the world. The events take place in beautiful outdoor spaces and there is nothing quite as amazing as taking a yoga class with a couple of hundred people in a huge field surrounded by the Sierra Mountains or a beautiful lake.We encourage you to go try out yoga or give it another shot. The physical and mental health benefits are amazing and the community of people associated with it are pretty darn cool too!!! Are you ready to Dabble in the Art of Yoga? Before the major shifts in my awakening, I was searching for something. What this something was, I did not know. The feeling inside me was seeking for deeper understanding and a stronger connection with God and the Universe, yet doing everything that “I was told to do” never led to this feeling being satiated. I was looking outside the Self for answers.. Yet the true understanding lied within. Soon after one of my first major shifts in my awakening I began to move into the dark night of the soul. This experience can be traumatic in itself, but it's actually the reversing of large parts of the trauma we have held for most of our lives. While treading the winepress in despair, I was given this lovely song which helped anchor me through the hard times. Heaven is Here by MC Yogi was a little gift to me from the Universe in helping me move through the difficult times. In this episode, I break down the song, the lyrics and meanings and how it relates to the path of realization and becoming your true authentic Self. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/lucid-spiritual/support

This is the final episode of the show! After 128 episodes, I have decided to practice that I preach, and make the tough call on priorities and pressures in my life, which means this show will be setting with the sun today. Whether that's forever or for now is not relevant because "forever" is not happening today. With all the demands on my time, I have been facing my own burnout – something I've had as a central theme in many episodes in this show. To protect and love myself, I've taken an inventory of all the things that I am committed to, where they are in the grand scheme of building toward my goals, whether they've served their purpose, and how I might be able to move forward without them. Though it was a hard decision I've grappled with for several months, ending the show here made a lot of sense. Do a Day is not going anywhere, however, with all the resources at your fingertips, as ever. You can still get the book in paperback, Kindle, Audible, Apple Books, Google Play Books, Nook and more. You can still do the Do a Day Masterclass, or sign up for 1-on-1 coaching with me. And the entire back catalog of episodes of the show will still be available for you to go back, listen to, and grow from. With all the stories and inspiration in the 127 episodes that I've released before this final one, I know there is at least one spark that every person in the world could use to start the flame that lets you Go Out and Do It! Respect for all my past guests: Season 1 I kicked the show off sharing the story of Do a Day. Charlie Gilkey shares about how being smart makes you strong. Evan Ruggiero reminds us through his cancer batter that rising up even when half of your world vanishes is possible. Amy Schuber taught us that you are the inspiration you seek. Ryan Caligiuri shared his mantra that there are no set backs, only set ups for what's next. One of my favorite artists, MC YOGI, talked about how all things grow in darkness Anne Sugar shared her battle with cancer as a way to see how you can trust your body even when it betrays you. Chris Wirth hit on his message of never quitting on living the life you deserve. David Ralph reminded us about the power in our lives if we connect the dots. Dorie Clark reminds us of the important of perseverance and consistency if we want to achieve our greatest goals. Sonya Looney, world female mountain bike endurance champion, was just awesome, but had a key message around vulnerability and honesty with ourselves. She also gave me another gem of an idea around being stuck. Rather than being negative about the feeling, she recognizes it's a sign of something big being about to happen. Tim Fargo talked about the humility and balance we can find in unexpected places like failure. The amazing Dr. Jason Brooks shared the importance of being dedicated to finding your purpose and its transformative power on our lives. Terri Levine, who lives in extreme, debilitating pain, showed how you can still find power and heart and use that to create something. Leigh Martinuzzi talked about finding his hidden Why and what that can unlock. The great Dick Vitale shared a power packed message of inspiration and making the choice to get up and move forward no matter what hits you, as he's done throughout his life. This meditation will help you with feelings of discomfort and unease by encouraging you to simply feel your emotions. When you honor your capacity to feel, you allow yourself to be present to the current moment of your life. By becoming present to whatever emotions and experiences you're going through, you open yourself up to more healing and love. After this meditation, you will feel a heightened level of release, peace and awareness for whatever state of being you're in. Tune in for soul story time! This episode takes you on a journey of the Buddha... Amanda Giacomini aka 10,000 Buddhas is an artist, yoga teacher and storyteller. Her 10,000 Buddhas project was inspired by a pilgrimage to the Ajanta caves in India where she saw a two thousand year old mural of a thousand Buddhas meditating together. This experience sparked an awakening, which led her on a mission to paint 10,000 Buddhas, spreading a message of kindness, compassion, and connection with her art. Over the course of a decade, Amanda reached and surpassed her goal, making 10,000 Buddhas a highly sought after, worldwide art project, including large scale public murals, fine art paintings, works on paper, and textiles. Her street art can be found across the United States from Washington DC, Miami, Palm Beach and Asheville, North Carolina to Seattle, San Diego, and Hollywood, CA. She has also painted murals in Panama, Costa Rica, Germany and Japan. As a teacher, Amanda has taught yoga to tens of thousands of people all over the world; from prestigious art museums and yoga festivals, to The White House and the Forbidden City in China. She is the co-founder of Point Reyes Yoga, a studio she and her husband, MC YOGI, started in 2001. Amanda has been teaching yoga for 20 years, practicing for over 25 and meditating for 30. Her approach to teaching is gentle and wise, one of her greatest joys is sharing the healing benefits of yin yoga while interweaving mythic stories from the Buddhist and yoga traditions. Amanda lives in Northern California with her husband MC YOGI and continues to paint Buddhas.
Today's guests are hip-hop artist MC Yogi and the creator of the 10000 Buddhas project, Amanda Giacomini. MC and Amanda met at a teacher training at It’s Yoga in San Francisco back in 2000 and have been spent the past 20 years, spreading their love of yoga to the masses through their music and art, but also more intimately, in their Point Reyes studio they began as a young couple and still regularly teach today. In this episode, MC and Amanda talk about their relationship with the practice, their teachers (Larry Schultz and Dorothy Divack), and especially - each other. Because while MC may claim - love at first sight - their story is no mythical fairy tale. It’s intentional. A conscious choice to align their lives - together. On Nature as musical instrument, pauses as assets, honouring the elders, everyday ceremony. Includes a bonus track of Ram Dass x East Forest. Derived from the German translation of his last name, East Forest (aka Trevor Oswalt) creates a hypnotizing brand of music for old souls that blends achingly emotional wordlessness, ambience and contemporary classical touches with a touch of pop sensibilities and electronic flavors. Based in Boulder Utah, Oswalt performs internationally and is armed with a live show that is continually evolving; sometimes performing solo, sometimes with a string section, and often with theatrical elements and cinematic projections. With experiences offering music in a hospice, as well as backpacking explorations throughout the wilderness of the world including the Amazonian jungle searching for spiritual answers, his music is a connected journey that's been dubbed "a revelatory excursion in sound" (Under The Gun) that invites listeners to "go on a journey of self discovery" (Earmilk). He's been featured on NPR's Second Stage and Tiny Desk Contest, and shared the stage with artists ranging from Trevor Hall to Crystal Bowersox (Amer. Idol), Bluetech to Moby. His 2016 collaboration with MC YOGI, Ritual Mystical, went #1 iTunes Electronic, #8 Billboard Dance and #2 Billboard New Age. EAST FOREST's newest release, "RAM DASS" is a full length album releasing in collaboration with the acclaimed spiritual teacher. In June 2018, East Forest was invited to Maui to record brand new teachings from Ram Dass. After capturing these words of wisdom East Forest returned to his studio to compose the soundtrack to beautifully support each songs’ subject. Covering topics such as dark thoughts, nature, the soul and so much more, these songs are full of inspiration. The album will release in four “chapters” throughout 2019, culminating in a full length release on August 9, 2019. In today's interview we'll hear from MC YOGI, a renowned Yogi and musician (aka Nicholas Giacomini). MC YOGI is a revolutionary who draws on the power of music, yoga, art and activism in a new genre of conscious hip-hop. In this conversation, we dive into MC YOGI's journey into yoga. A master storyteller, he shares with humility, great wisdom and humor - and spontaneously breaks into poetry and rap. Today, MC YOGI is an international hip-hop artist and one of the most well-respected yoga teachers in North America. Yet, his journey to success took strong will and direction. MC YOGI was a juvenile delinquent, who was sent to live at a group home for at-risk youth, was arrested for vandalism, and got caught up in a world of drugs and chaos. At 18, fate brought him to his first yoga class. After discovering yoga, MC YOGI devoted himself to the practice. From traveling to India to study with gurus to living and learning with many American yoga masters, MC YOGI soaked in the knowledge that would revolutionize his entire life and put him on the path to healing, wholeness and peace. In 2008, he created an inspiring video in support of Obama for the election and he and his wife, Amanda, were invited to the White House by Michelle Obama to teach yoga and become Global Health Ambassadors. Check out MC YOGI's recent memoire called "Spiritual Graffiti," in which he offers his wisdom and inspiration.

MC YOGI is a world-renowned yoga teacher, musician, and author on a mission to introduce yoga to large, mainstream audiences. His latest album, RITUAL MYSTICAL (feat East Forest), made history by going #1 on the Electronic charts (Aug 2016). In 2015, his ONLY LOVE IS REAL album debuted #12 Billboard Heatseekers + #24 iTunes Hiphop — featuring guest performances from Matisyahu, Trevor Hall, and Dominic Balli. In September 2017, MC YOGI released his first book SPIRITUAL GRAFFITI: Finding My True Path with HarperOne. He has performed and taught yoga everywhere, from headlining festivals and nightclubs to performing in the Forbidden City in China and even at the White House. When not on the road, MC YOGI and his wife Amanda teach at their home studio, Point Reyes Yoga, in Northern California. MC YOGI made a lasting impact on me being a humble, genuine, wise man who's had experiences that some might not believe to be true, but that is what gave him the portal into yoga and meditation. He has a deep knowledge of hip-hop, yoga, music, and meditation all which he conveys through his music and his spoken word. We talk about if it makes sense to look for a guru/teacher, which spiritual teacher, dead or alive, would make the best MC, and about how he got into blending music and yoga to live out his greatest passions. We also talk about the content of his amazing book, Spiritual Graffiti. I loved this interview and how much it felt like I was just talking to one of my friends about spirituality. MC has a way of connecting with people that is truly unique and helps you to understand why he is reaching millions of people through his music and telling others about his life experiences. As I come up to my 40th birthday, I thought it would be good to look back on the 26 episodes of the Do a Day Podcast and hit on the amazing guests I've had, some of the key messages they've shared, and talk about one Vegan day, my effort to use my 40th to help people try being Vegan for one day. It's a way to use my milestone as a catalyst for others to have a milestone in their lives for their health and the health of the planet. Or just a way for everyone to prove to themselves that they can do anything for a day (obviously, that's a key part of the Do a Day message)! And it's a great chance to give another special shout out to Wes Yeefor the great music he created just for this show. Wes does amazing work, if you're ever looking for a producer. Plus he's a cool guy. Key Ideas in the Episode with Bryan Falchuk I kicked the show off sharing the story of Do a Day. Charlie Gilkeyshares about how being smart makes you strong. Evan Ruggieroreminds us through his cancer batter that rising up even when half of your world vanishes is possible. Amy Schubertaught us that you are the inspiration you seek. Ryan Caligiurishared his mantra that there are no set backs, only set ups for what's next. One of my favorite artists, MC YOGI, talked about how all things grow in darkness Anne Sugarshared her battle with cancer as a way to see how you can trust your body even when it betrays you. Chris Wirthhit on his message of never quitting on living the life you deserve. David Ralphreminded us about the power in our lives if we connect the dots. Claude Silvershared her story (for the first time) of why she is who she is today and how that's showed her the importance of Heart in leadership. Elizabeth McCourttalked about the empowerment we can take from building our own resilience. Josh LaJaunieshared his story of overcoming extreme obesity--not just for himself, but for the world around him. Michael Nultytalked about his multiple suicide attempts and how he found rebirth out of depression. Mark Metryshared the importance of taking responsibility for your life and what you can achieve as a new person. My good friend, Aaron Keith Hawkins, talked about how we need to have influence over ourselves if we want to influence anyone else. Kelsey Abbotthelped us Find Our Awesome through self-confidence and curiosity. She also gave me a quote I've used almost daily, "What you I say is about me. What you hear is about you." Dorie Clarkreminds us of the important of perseverance and consistency if we want to achieve our greatest goals. Sonya Looney, world female mountain bike endurance champion, was just awesome, but had a key message around vulnerability and honesty with ourselves. One of the best parts of having this podcast is who I am fortunate to cross paths with, and the ongoing surprise of who reaches out to me. Some of you may remember when I was falling out of my chair (or rather, the closet that doubles as podcasting studio) to interview one of my favorite musicians, Trevor Hall. Well, one of the best side outcomes was getting to know his team better, Tim and Isabelle at N3W LEVEL Management. We met in-person for the first time earlier this summer, and the hours flew by! Instant kindred spirits and friends for life :) So I was every bit as excited when they mentioned another one of their artists' ambitious projects: Amanda Giacomini's mission to paint 10,000 Buddhas around the world. Amanda has been teaching yoga for over 25 years, and she’s been an artist for almost the same amount of time. Ten Thousand Buddhas is her worldwide, highly sought after art project—including large scale murals and fine art paintings—that she completed last year after five years of steadily working toward her goal. In this conversation we dive into what she learned, how it inspired her to break out of her typical shell (and artist studio), and naturopathic practices that keep her sane while touring with her husband MC Yogi.
One of the most positive, inspired artists in Hip Hop, MC YOGI grew up struggling to stay on the right side of the law. Through the enlightenment of Yoga, he rose up, and works to help others globally with the positive, empowering message that saved him.
Ten Thousand Buddhas by Amanda Giacomini is a world wide, highly sought after art project, including large scale murals & fine art paintings. She has been featured on National Geographic Channel, New York Magazine among many others. Amanda has painted murals in Wynwood District of Miami, Abbot Kinney, and across all the US, as well as Cambutal, Panama plus a mobile installation in 5 cities in Germany. She's a rad lady. 10000buddhas.com eastforest.org/podcast

Full shownotes: http://yourcreativepush.com/10000buddhas In this episode, Amanda discusses: -The story of how her massive 10,000 Buddhas project started. -How committing to a large project helped to creatively anchor herself down and thus get to a flow state more easily. -How her painting is similar to rehearsing for a dance performance, where she doesn’t have to think about the movements after doing it so often. -The experience of completing her ten-thousandth Buddha. -Her practice of yoga and how it relates to her art. -How she has now developed (and embraced) a new identity of “10,000 Buddhas.” -How she avoided repetition by changing the scale, medium, and colors. -Her creative relationship with her husband, MC Yogi. -Some of the synchronistic things that have happened in her creative life. -How she used to start projects and never finish them, and her advice for people who might struggle with a similar experience. -How a creative journey is a cyclical one, with many ups and downs. Amanda's Final Push will remind you that your creativity is an integral part to you having a well-rounded life. Quotes: “It started with a little seed of curiosity.” “I think there was something about committing to a big project and a big number that helped me get to that flow state.” “I had tears of joy that day that I made a commitment to the goal and I had kept it.” “That sense of curiosity is important to me as an artist.” Links mentioned: Book Tour / Events MC Yogi Youngman Brown on The Pawprint Podcast Connect with Amanda: Website / Facebook / Instagram On the next episode: Chrilz : Website / Instagram Join the discussion in the Facebook group!
