Check out our latest label releases + free downloads on our Bandcamp page.   Finnish genius Roberto Rodriguez might be one of the most underrated producers in the deeper end of house music. His consistently excellent output for the likes of Freerange Records, Compost Records, Plastic City and Poetry In Motion Records is always fresh, invigorating stuff which combines deep textures with grooves that are so expertly sculpted they're nigh-on impossible to sit still to. We're chuffed to have him contribute to our series at last, and to discover some of his absolute gems we missed in years gone by.   *How would you describe your sound?*   If I were to analyze my own sound I'd say it's a culmination of all the musical influences I've gathered throughout my close to 47 years of existence. My music is always some sort of weird combination of techno, house, jungle, jazz, soul and disco influences. Most often my tracks end up in the Deep House sections in stores. In my tracks there's always a certain bit of Scandinavian melancholy or bittersweet sadness. Even in the most uplifting tracks and remixes I've done over the years. :D. I'm a super positive and upbeat person so I don't know where that bit comes from. Perhaps it's the 10 months of yearly darkness here in the north which generates the melancholy. I'm not super into trends and I always aim for a timeless quality rather than a quick fix. Firstly I aim to please my own ears and produce music that makes me feel something. If the music moves me then there's a high probability that others will be moved by it as well.    *What and who inspires you and influences your sound?*    I listen to and get my inspiration from all music I hear. As much as I get inspired by the works of legends, i do get more inspired by new talent and new producers who break the rules and come up with something new and unique.   *Can you tell us a little about this mix and what it means to you?*   I was very pleased to be invited to the series and in taking this challenge of picking only my own productions for the mix. As emotional as it was to go through my tracks, It wasn't an easy task to narrow it down. In the end I decided to exclude all of my more disco Manolo stuff as well as all my other monikers and focus on my main RR output. The mix is sort of like Roberto Rodriguez in a nutshell. Radio Nova revisite ses propres classiques : les raretés de tout bord qui rythment notre antenne, de la soul-funk au hip-hop en passant par les musiques afro-latines et la pop. Aujourd'hui : « See the Sun » de Les Gammas. Notre Nova Classic du jour est signé Les Gammas, et s'appelle « See The Sun ». Un morceau sorti en 2000 sur Exercices de Style, un clin d'œil à Raymond Queneau lancé depuis l'Allemagne. Car si le nom de l'album est en français ainsi que plusieurs titres, les musiciens et producteurs qui composent derrière l'alias de Les Gammas sont, eux, Allemands. Depuis Munich, Mark A. Frank et C. Jochen Helfert sortent ce premier album sur le label Compost Records, connu alors pour marier le jazz et les productions électroniques, entre autres.Dans ces Exercices de Style, les producteurs s'essaient à plusieurs genres, avec une grande maîtrise et un beau casting : notamment l'orchestre symphonique de Munich invité et cette voix, qui rappelle celle du musicien Scott Walker dans le morceau « See the Sun », un titre que l'on a beaucoup joué sur Nova au début des années 2000 et qui, à l'instar de « Vous êtes un arbre » méditation musicale dont on vous parlait en début d'année, vous invite cette fois à vous mettre dans la peau d'une fleur rayonnante au contact du soleil. STEFAN OBERMAIER (Vienna, AUSTRIA) Ever since stepping into the arena of international club electronica, almost fifteen years ago, the man they call Stefan Obermaier has managed to stay true to himself, and to his unique sonic vision as a musician, producer and DJ. Born in Salzburg, Stefan has lived in Vienna since 2001. His parents gave him his first keyboard when he was just two years old and he took to it instantly. With strong roots in Funk and Jazz and further inspired by the unique Vienna influence of this time, by the early 1990s he was already actively playing in various combos. In 1997 and 1998 he won the Austria Band Contest with his own compositions. At the age of 17, Stefan was at the forefront of performing electronic musicians in Austria. During a time before the convenience of laptops he was one of the very few hauling around their computers and installing them in venues for gigs. After finishing school, Stefan moved to Vienna to study music, but left university upon signing his first record contract with Universal Music in order to focus on his musical output. He has built a name for himself with remarkable solo releases that have been played by some of the biggest DJs in the business, and constantly appears in club charts internationally. The in-demand remixes he has delivered over the years include labels such as Armada Music, !K7, Compost Records, Hoehenreler Records and many more. Stefan effortlessly manages to fuse the essence of what was going on in the Vienna scene (all things cool, funky & dubby) during the mid-nineties with a more energetic, strictly future bound tech approach combined with traces of organic soulful spirituality. His music is a blend of deep and uplifting vibes, wrapped in his unique sound signature. Hello Peeps, I hope your Sunday is going smooth and well because we are back with another Decisive Sunday Edition Podcast and my guest today is not new to the series and as a matter of fact he was one of the first to be invited to the family. Mike Trend has been DJing for approximately 20 years, looking back at numerous national as well as international performances. His career as a DJ began in 2003 in a Munich club called "Barysphär" where he mainly presented Deep and Soulful House behind the turntables every Saturday. Even till this day these influences are noticeable in his DJ-sets. Through the years his sound has evolved - due to the development of own productions as well as various collaborations with other artists his shifted into an original and particular direction. Hello Peeps, I hope your Sunday is going smooth and well because we are back with another Decisive Sunday Edition Podcast and my guest today is not new to the series and as a matter of fact he was one of the first to be invited to the family. Mike Trend has been DJing for approximately 20 years, looking back at numerous national as well as international performances. His career as a DJ began in 2003 in a Munich club called "Barysphär" where he mainly presented Deep and Soulful House behind the turntables every Saturday. Our next Techno Minded Hero is an Italian dj and producer who has been active since the start of the century. While working as a dj, he quickly began to realize that the only way to really express himself and his musical ideas through his own productions.To pursue such an ambitious goal he started a key partnership with Paul S-tone in 2005. A fellow countryman with releases on Compost Records, Streetvibes Group and Black Box group. Thanks to the support of Paul S-Tone, active as a modular synthesizers builder, this national hero has some great releases on his name on which he teams up with many great heroes like Forest People, Hans Bouffmhyre, and Alex Bau. They released on record labels such as the SYSTEM RECORDINGS, PLUSQUAM RECORDS, MYDUST RECORDS, PEON MUSIC, FUNKATRONIC, CODE2 RECORDS and his own label ANALOGIC SOUND RECORDINGS. The Luvcast series continues with a bit of a special mix.
