AND THE WINNER IS...a let down? We have had so much fun this season with some really great films. Films that we called perfect, modern classics, innovative, surprising; and it all led to one of the most predictable Best Picture Winners. Surprising to no one, this was not on the top of any of our rankings at the end of this season, but we can't say we didn't like it. Colin Firth gives a moving performance because he can do no wrong. Geoffrey Rush was a charming supporting actor that matched Firth toe to toe, and Tom Hooper wasn't as annoying as he could be. If this had been 2012's Best Picture Winner, this conversation might have been completely different. Tell us your thoughts on the 2011 race over on Twitter and Instagram. Every once in awhile I like to throw in an episode that might inspire people in a different way. What is healthy aliyah? Here to help you navigate this process is Rabbi Dov Lipman of Yad L Olim, and Marc Rosenberg of Nefesh B Nefesh. My brother Rabbi Shlomo Ben Zeev helps introduce the topic with some biblical proof of why we should live in Israel. And as a special treat and for a little entertainment, my good friend comedian Danny Cohen and I reminisce about what it was like to make aliyah as a teenager in the 80s.I hope you enjoy! The new documentary “Anonymous Club” pulls the curtain back on the life of an introverted DIY artist experiencing — and going on tour in the aftermath of — an unpredictable and dizzying level of almost instantaneous success. Shot over three years, the film follows Australian singer-songwriter Courtney Barnett on tour through Europe, Asia and the States, performing to huge crowds, and grappling with her own anxiety and anhedonia. Filmmaker Danny Cohen tasked her with keeping an audio diary through the whole process, and her narration dots the film in ways that are witty, moving, sad and wistful. Here, in front of a sold-out theater, we discuss the making of the film, her role as an artist, persevering and what's coming next. How much courage does it take for young person to come out -particularly in the Orthodox Community. How much more so 30 years ago when homosexuality was barely tolerated in mainstream society and was certainly hush hush in the Orthodox one. This week I interview my long time friend Danny Cohen, his full interesting and entertaining story (he is a comedian after all!) Where he holds today, and how he views himself in regards to this "torah prohibition " in order to keep this episode from being 3 hours long, we decided to break it into 2. Hey everyone, its time to finally return to the Wizarding World! Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore has finally released in theatres around the globe. This is franchise that I have not really gotten to talk about in my almost-3 years on this platform but this is a franchise that means SO MUCH to me. I've been watching these movies since I was like 4 years old and I have so much nostalgia from like a decade or so back, watching every movie constantly and reading the books. I was also a big fan of the first Fantastic Beasts movie and enjoyed the second one, just on first viewing. Since then, I've liked the movie LESS AND LESS and grown less enchanted with the future of the franchise. But the trailers for this third film have been great so I rewatched all 10 of the previous films and have been getting excited for this movie. This is a SPOILER-FREE REVIEW of the film. Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore: Directed by: David Yates Screenplay by: J.K. Rowling & Steve Kloves Based upon a screenplay by: J.K. Rowling Produced by: David Heyman, J.K. Rowling, Steve Kloves, Lionel Wigram and Tim Lewis. Neil Blair, Danny Cohen, Josh Berger, Courtenay Valenti and Michael Sharp served as executive producers. Music by: James Newton Howard Cinematography by: George Richmond Film Editing by: Mark Day Casting by: Fiona Weir Production Design by: Stuart Craig, Neil Lamont Cast: Eddie Redmayne, Jude Law, Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, William Nadylam, Callum Turner, Jessica Williams, Victoria Yeates, Poppy Corby-Tuech, Fiona Glascott, Katherine Waterston, Maria Fernanda Cândido, Richard Coyle, Oliver Masucci, Valerie Pachner, and Mads Mikkelsen Synopsis: In an effort to thwart Grindelwald's plans of raising pure-blood wizards to rule over all non-magical beings, Albus Dumbledore enlists his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help, though he's unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world.

"Courtney Barnett" is a singer, songwriter, and musician from Melbourne Australia, known for her often deadpan singing style and witty lyrics.Courtney grew up in a musical household, with both her brothers playing guitar around her. When she was just 10 years old she asked her brothers to show her some chords and eventually begged her parents to buy her a guitar and lessons. As a left-handed guitar player Courtney actually started out learning on a regular right-handed guitar with conventional stringing, this basically meant she learnt how to play guitar chords backwards, which she can still do to this day. In her early career she played with a couple of indie bands around Australia, before writing her own songs and putting out her debut EP in 2012.As usual, there is a lot more to know about this fascinating artist. Join musicians Jay Purcell and Jesse Quigley as they discuss Courtney's work, life, career and spin some of their favorite tracks. To listen to the full episode, including the featured music, visit... signlradio.com"Roots to Grooves" is a production of SIGNL.https://www.signlradio.comhttps://www.instagram.com/signlradiohttps://www.twitter.com/signlradiohttps://www.facebook.com/signlradiohttps://www.mixcloud.com/signlhttps://open.spotify.com/user/96mhz6qfjoztxbl2dpm0uj903?si=aAZpsoEnRAKdx85kr1QWhg

Danny Cohen is the creator of wild dreams. His music video's have seen King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard crawl inside a giant custom built vulture, his photography has beckoned Mac DeMarco into a bathful of cigarettes, and his video for Kirin J Callinan, with a screaming Jimmy Barnes over the hills, has clocked more than sixty two million views. The Melbourne based photographer and filmmaker has also just directed his first feature length film. It's a doco on another regular collaborator, Courtney Barnett, and is a beautiful and vulnerable account of a tough and transitory time for the songwriter. That was the catalyst for asking Danny Cohen to Take 5. But to be honest, I had questions about all of his work. From crazy experiences in Cuba, to an instant bond over a bagful of smokes, and hiring an army tank for an indie band, this is an amazing conversation about realising some truly fantastical visions.
