Niko rientää Ekin luokse ”poikien iltaan”, mutta Ekin kylmät viestit meinaavat saada Nikon kääntymään kotiin. ”Ok!”. Kiusallinen hiljaisuus ja televisioton koti meinaavat saada Nikon shokkiin, mutta onneksi Liisa rientää juuri oikeaan aikaan paikalle. Anteeksi kuka?

Dekaani Marja-Liisa Helasvuo puolustaa monikielisyyttä ja suomen kielen asemaa: äidinkieli on voimavara Turun yliopiston humanistisen tiedekunnan dekaani, suomen kielen professori Marja-Liisa Helasvuo korostaa äidinkielen merkitystä valtavana voimavarana. Aikaa University of California Santa Barbarassa hän kuvaa tutkijanurallaan käänteentekeväksi. Podcastin kirjasuosituksena Marja-Liisa Helasvuo vinkkaa toukokuussa humanistisen tiedekunnan kunniatohtoriksi promovoitavan kirjailijan Pajtim Statovcin teoksen Bolla. Humanisti vastaa -podcastin toimittaa Turun yliopiston humanistisen tiedekunnan työelämäprofessori, toimittaja Riitta Monto. Podcastin tuottaa Turun yliopisto. Did you know that two-thirds of people with Alzheimer's are women? Did you know that women over 60 are twice as likely to develop Alzheimer's disease than breast cancer? Here's the thing: Most of the diseases causing dementia starting developing in the brain 20 years before clinical symptoms show, which for many women, is around the time of menopause, begging the question, what role does menopause play in our brain health? The good news is that almost half of Alzheimer's cases can be prevented with lifestyle changes. During this Alzheimer's Awareness Month, two of the foremost Canadian brain researchers, Dr. Liisa Galea (@liisagalea) and Dr. Jenny Rabin (@drjennyrabin), join me to discuss this disease that impacts over 600,000 Canadians today and will impact three times that in the next several decades - most of them, in women. In this episode of French Insider, Sheppard Mullin partners Jonathan Meyer, Liisa Thomas and Carolyn Metnick join host and French Desk Co-Chair, Valérie Demont, to explore the evolving landscape of cybersecurity and privacy under a new Trump administration. What We Discussed in This Episode: What is CISA and what is its role in cybersecurity? What can we expect from the Trump administration regarding cybersecurity? Could we see less regulation but greater enforcement? Might there be more stringent regulation with respect to cyber attacks and private ransomware? Where does the United States currently stand in terms of privacy law? What is the current status of state and federal privacy laws in relation to the healthcare industry? In terms of privacy, where could enforcement be headed under the incoming administration? How do the various state attorneys general and federal agencies coordinate on enforcement? What enforcement trends should businesses be aware of, and what do they need to focus on? What specific enforcement trends are we seeing in the healthcare space? Generally speaking, what types of penalties could result from enforcement actions? Could a company's officers and directors face personal liability, either criminal or civil? How might class action litigation originate from a cybersecurity or privacy incident? What should businesses prioritize in terms of cybersecurity and privacy compliance? Follow the digital government space long enough and you will hear about Estonia. Despite being a small country of 1.4 million people with an overall economy that by total size is only 101st in the world, it is a powerhouse in digital government services. In the most recent United Nations e-government ranking, Estonia ranks 2nd in the world, and has been in the top 10 for many years. So what is it about Estonia that has allowed it to leapfrog into being a global digital government leader? On this episode we're going to explore this question with those who have been on the front lines of Estonia's digital government revolution. We're speaking to Estonian Minister of Justice and Digital Affairs Liisa-Ly Pakosta who was recently appointed into that role in July of this year. She has an interesting mandate as both the digital government lead for Estonia as well as leading the Justice portfolio. We also spoke to Siim Sikkut, who was the CIO of the Estonian government between 2017 and 2022 and was one of those responsible for the development of Estonia's e-residency program in his prior role as an advisor on digital government to the Estonian Prime Minister. And we also heard from Ville Sirviö, CEO of the Nordic Institute for Interoperability Solutions, the non-profit that leads development of one of the core pieces of digital infrastructure in Estonia, the X-Road.You can also find the full, uncut interviews with Minister Pakosta, Siim, and Ville on our Let's Think Digital YouTube channel. We are hearing more and more about young kids grappling with same-sex attraction. It's prevalent in the culture right now. Many kids today, many of them coming out of the government school system, see absolutely nothing wrong with transgenderism or same-sex attraction. And it's becoming an increasingly challenging subject for parents to navigate, given the fact that there are a lot of grownups in the room who are telling parents to affirm their child's every whim. Are you prepared to handle these conversations as they come up? Join me today for a practical conversation about this difficult topic. SPONSOR: Thank you to TUVU for sponsoring our podcast today!

What happens if the geoeconomic risks of great power rivalry materialise? What can be done to prevent these potential dangers from unfolding in small open economies, such as Finland and Sweden? More specifically, how can small state preparedness be enhanced to tackle the risks of foreign ownership, supply disruptions and high tech dependencies? How on earth can comic art be utilised to study these topics? Ines Söderström is joined by researchers of the University of Turku's "Foreign acquisitions and political retaliation as threats to supply security in an era of strategic decoupling" (ForAc) project to discuss these questions. Liisa Kauppila worked as a Senior Researcher of the ForAc project, bringing in her expertise on Futures Studies methods and China-related issues. Liisa has published very interesting articles on China's role in the Arctic. Besides finalising her PhD at the Centre for East Asian Studies of the University of Turku, she's currently working at the Arctic Centre of the University of Lapland in a project focusing on climate responsibility. She is also part of project that studies geopolitics of technology standards. Elina Sinkkonen works as a Senior Research Fellow at the Finnish Institute of International Affairs. Elina's wide research expertise ranges from great power relations, China's domestic and foreign policy, authoritarian regimes, as well as national identity and nationalism related questions. At the moment, Elina is part of two projects that look at China's innovativeness and technological know-how from different angles. Ines Söderström worked as a research assistant in the ForAc Project. --- ▶️ Jaksot videon kera Youtubesta: http://www.youtube.com/c/Futucastpodcast

As the first Russian bombs drop on Oulu, Finland in early 1940 during the Winter War, Aarne Kovala is a young boy with a great love of the sea. While the war rages, Aarne takes fate into his own hands and joins the Finnish merchant marines. He spends his days delivering war materials between Finland, Poland, and Germany. But when Finland's ties with Germany are severed after the signing of the Moscow Armistice in 1944, Aarne and his fellow sailors are arrested by the Nazis and sent by cattle car to the infamous Stutthof concentration camp deep in the Polish forest. And thus begins Aarne's horrific struggle to survive amid dreadful living conditions, scarce food, and grueling work details. In the only letter he is allowed to send home, he prays, “I hope the day soon dawns that we again may meet.” But after months of dark nights and even darker days, how long can his hope survive? Liisa Kovala's book Surviving Stutthof: My Father's Ordeal in a Nazi Concentration Camp (Latitude 46, 2017) is a tale of survival, hope, and ultimately the triumph of the human spirit. Today I talked to Liisa Kovala about her new novel Sisu's Winter War (Latitude 46, 2022). Meri Saari made a promise to her dying mother she would keep the family together, but she was too young to know how a war can pull people apart. As a teenager responsible for her siblings she finds herself following her father to the front lines during the Winter War when he goes missing in action. Forty years later, living in northern Ontario, Meri's past and present collide when she is diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's. Responsible for her granddaughter, and navigating a strained relationship with her daughter Linnea, Meri is haunted by the people of her past and by the promises she failed to keep. As she struggles against her inevitable decline, she knows her losses are amassing: her home, her health, and her memories. Meri embarks on one last journey in search of the man she had to give up, and before it's too late. Before everything disappears. Learn more about your ad choices. The Death Star was not blown up by Luke and the Empire successfully destroys every rebel, even capturing Leia where she becomes a forced apprentice to Darth Vader. Luke meanwhile thanks to Han goes to Dagobah and spends the next five years training under Yoda before discovering Leia, the hope of the rebellion was still alive.Watch this episode on YouTube:https://youtu.be/koGEYzRPu6wComic: Dark Horse Comics Star Wars Infinities New Hope 1-4 Writer: Chris Warner Penciller: Drew Johnson Inkers: Ray Snyder, Al Rio, Neil Nelson Letterer: Steve Dutro Colourist: Dave McCaig Cover artist: Tony Harris Legends Con Ko-Fi Campaign: https://ko-fi.com/legends_con More on Legends Consortium: https://legends-con.com/ Twitter: @Legends_Con legendsconsortium@gmail.com Legends Library Podcast: Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/legendslibrarypodcast Discord: https://discord.gg/QMMR5r4dyb Twitter:@legendslibrary @liisamountain @darnkatarn Hosts: Liisa Mountain and Kyle Rawlingslegendslibrarypodcast@gmail.com Drum Intro: Jodeye KnightAll Star Wars content and material is owned and copyright by Disney and LFL.
