Are you pricing your coaching so people will like you; are you pricing your coaching to make as much money as possible on a short time? I have a better plan - price your coaching based on the income you want to live your life outside of your coaching business. In this week's episode, I break down the process of how we do this in the Elevate Your income marketing intensive. Plus discuss Price Pacing, charging for where you are in your business, with a pricing plan for the future. When it's just not possible to “charge your worth,” because you simply infinitely valuable, this is the conversation that is actually helpful in how to price. My side-hustling friends, I have come to the realization that it's time to say goodbye to the GOT SIDE HUSTLE show. As it started, "ELEVATE YOUR 8" and morphed into GOT SIDE HUSTLE, I have made some amazing friends and learned so much about myself and what it takes to build a business. I have come to really understand productivity and time management and how I can make the best of every hour in every day. I have created systems and procedures for working my side hustles in less than one hour a day. And now it's time to do something different. The show will still be around - and from time to time I will likely do a special episode when I really have something to say or I have a great guest... But until then, the GOT SIDE HUSTLE show is always here for you. THANK YOU for being part of this community and for subscribing to the show. I appreciate each and every one of you more than I can possibly say.

Hey everyone! Hope you're continuing to enjoy the Greatest Hits! We are about two weeks away from being back to new content. Meanwhile...enjoy this oldie but goodie about BURNOUT. Well, it happened! The World Health Organization has finally come up with a medical diagnosis for burnout. In the workplace, at least, not in life. Still - this shit is REAL. Read about the new diagnosis here. But meanwhile - we still have to figure out ways to avoid it, right? So Forbes and I have come up with Five Strategies (that is, Forbes shared the strategies, I'm coming up with some additional tips and resources). OH MY GOD - I am so honored and excited to share today's episode of Elevate Your 8 - it's quite possibly the biggest deal interview to date! My guest today is Sarah Knight - NY Best Selling Author of books such as “The Life Changing Magic of Not Giving a Fuck,” “Get Your Shit Together,” “You Do You,” “Calm the Fuck Down,” and the newest, “Fuck No!” Before Sarah became an “anti-guru,” she spent fifteen years as a book editor in New York City. The utterly terrifying decision to quit that career underpins much of the advice in her best-selling No Fucks Given Guides series. In the NFGG's, Sarah writes about mental health, setting goals, taking risks, getting motivated, getting organized, and all the usual self-help stuff...but she does it with profanity and silly charts and long-form analogies involving cartoon chipmunks. It DOES work. It was such a joy to talk with Sarah and realize that we are simpatico with many of our own philosophies - plus she also prefers Diet Coke to Diet Pepsi and Madonna to GaGa. MEANWHILE - I'm cooking up some very cool stuff during this Summer Break...including a NEW membership and a FREE Masterclass. You can register for the masterclass HERE. it's happening on Saturday, July 24th at 10 am PST. I'll see you there!
It's been almost two years since this episode launched...and in that time, I've come to think of Adam Schaeuble as not only a coach and mentor but as a really amazing friend. Adam gives so much of himself with every lesson, every podcast episode, and every hilarious Instagram Reel. This was my first collaboration with Adam, but it won't be the last. Adam will likely be providing a masterclass for the Smart Side Hustle Society and he's shared some great material with me that I'll be posting after the summer vacation. Meanwhile, enjoy this episode, one of the Greatest Hits of Elevate Your 8. ---------------------------- I am SO effing excited to publish this show! I had an absolute blast talking with Adam Schaeuble, the Ph.D. (Previously Heavy Dude) of the Million Pound Mission and Casting the Pod. Adam shares some of his story on how he lost 100 pounds, opened his own gym and shared his passion for health and fitness around his community in Bloomington, Indiana. Five years later, Adam has helped the citizens of Bloomington lose over 35,000 pounds and he's not stopping until the nation reaches ONE MILLION! Adam and I share a love of 90's pop culture (Party Time, Excellent!), letting our passion be our purpose; and, of course, podcasting! Make sure you listen to the very end of the show to catch the "blooper" cut! To learn more about Adam, check out his bio HERE. And here are ways you can connect with Adam: Instagram Million Pound Mission Casting the Pod
SO: here's the deal. Finals are over, summer is officially here, and I've come to realize that I have WAY too much on my plate. Even though the college doesn't close, there's still that underlying notion that things should slow down, get a little easier, right? No fucking way. I'm busier than I've ever been. And I've got to get some stuff off my plate. In this episode, I'm talking about what I need to do to get my priorities in gear. How I want to realign my life and get things in order. And I've decided that Got Side Hustle is going on summer break. So you'll be treated to the Greatest Hits of Elevate Your 8 and Got Side Hustle while I realign my shit - and then I'll be back with new vigor and energy. Because I deserve it - and you all, especially, y'all deserve it too! Original Music for GOT SIDE HUSTLE is composed and performed by Chris Corral. If you're enjoying the show, I'd love for you to share it with a friend!! OR “buy me a coffee,” if you want to support the show!

(what IS the best Side Hustle for you, BTW? Click here to find out!) Well, friends, here we are! The new show is launching and I am SO friggin' excited! It's been great fun to work with my coach and make the decision to niche down a bit and start talking to career professionals in higher education about creating time to work on their side hustles. And the result is "The Got Side Hustle Show." Still the same host - me, Kris McPeak - and still a huge focus on productivity and time management. "Elevate Your 8" really hasn't gone anywhere - it's still the basis for everything I teach and role model and it will be shared often with the new format. But I really wanted to start talking to the people that I'm best designed to support, and that's folks like me who work in higher education. In that vein, not all the guests will be higher education practitioners, but we can all learn from everyone who has ever held a full-time job AND a side hustle. If you haven't listened to the BONUS episode from February 22nd, please go check that out because it really digs into why I wanted to shift my show around. And now - here's my FIRST guest! Leslie Levito is an entrepreneur with over 25 years of experience. Her first business was a multi-million dollar action sports retail shop. She moved to LA and became the International Sales Director and then COO of Baker Boys Distribution. Her next stop was Co-Founder of a top branding agency, called FaustLevito, which created brands that hit some of the hottest Top 10 lists in Los Angeles. Currently, she has 2 businesses... she relaunched her branding agency as Etcetera and has a startup called Cutclass, which gives professionals and small business owners are the tips and tools she has learned doing business and getting her executive MBA. She just launched her first podcast, Out to Launch. She's an expert in branding and business strategy, and flip turns in the pool. www.letscutclass.com Original Music was composed and performed by Chris Corral.
Well, here it is. I've been working on this new show concept for about three months now. And I'm so excited to roll it out! Elevate Your 8 is now The Got Side Hustle Show! This is the show where I help Career Professionals in higher education create time for their side hustle so they don't waste their potential. You know who you are - the Student Life staffer who longs to create a consulting business on diversity. The Fiscal Services auditor would like to build a tax preparation gig on the side. Or the Career Services manager who wants to coach career changers on the weekends. There are dozens and dozens of possibilities and I want to help you get there. This show will feature solo episodes where I teach a concept or strategy, interviews with career professionals, and “hot seat” coaching episodes (which are FREE - apply here). I can't wait to share more interviews and episodes with you! Make sure you hit the SUBSCRIBE button so you don't miss an episode!

Are you as productive as you would like to be? Do you know exactly what tasks you should be doing to get the best return on your investment of time and energy? Perhaps the most important question, with everything you need to get done in the day, is there any time left for you and your family? Do you laugh when you hear the phrase, work/life balance? Does it really exist? Can it exist for you? Today Connie welcomes Kris McPeak to the show. Kris is an author of three books, including the most recent Amazon Bestseller, "The 9-to-5 Side Hustler: A Guide to Balancing Your Day Job with Your Small Business." And as a podcaster, Kris is the host of the Elevate Your 8 Podcast.
Welcome to my first Workshop Week! Since the Elevate Your 8 Philosophy covers your workday, then I think it's time we started talking about the main tool you need to get the job that aligns with your values and talents. The Resume. Many people know how to create one, but very few people actually know how to format a resume so it elevates your skills, talents, and career highlights. I've been in the workforce for more than 30 years; and since switching to the resume format that I'm going to teach you in this series, I have NEVER had a failed job search. And I've ALWAYS been invited to interview. The key to a solid, functional resume is completely understanding where you've been and how to represent what you can do. Potential employers want to know how you can contribute to their organization - they DON'T want to look at a laundry list of your job titles. For this final lesson, we are discussing Career Highlights and Action Verbs. Career Highlights are those "feathers in your cap" that help your resume stand out. And then action verbs bring more credibility to your resume by speaking to exactly what you did in a particular program, task, or responsibility. My favorite online reference is at The Muse. Did you enjoy this workshop week? I'd LOVE to know! Please email me at info@krismcpeak.com

Potential employers want to know how you can contribute to their organization - they DON'T want to look at a laundry list of your job titles. Lesson Four - Rank, Post, Format So let's recap: you reflected on all your previous positions and wrote down the tasks and day to day duties of each one. That was exhausting, I know. Next, you took those tasks and grouped them into themes, then turning those themes into various skill sets. And then you listed the most relevant tasks under the skill sets. With today's lesson, you are going to rank your skill sets accordingly so the most important ones are listed towards the top and format your document so it fits the position for which you're applying. That's right - you may very well be tweaking this document from time to time in order to best fit the representative duties for that position. So carve out some time this week to explore the entire workshop, and feel free to email me at info@krismcpeak.com if you have any questions about the workshop!

In Lesson One, we talked about doing a thorough excavating of your current resume, including but not limited to creating a week or so of “Time on Task” at your current job in order to identify all the various tasks that you have done in your current and previous jobs. This can be a rather tedious exercise and I totally compliment you on completing this. After today's lesson, you will be preparing to organize and synthesize all of these tasks into various themed groups that will lead to your skills and competencies. So carve out some time this week to explore the entire workshop, and feel free to email me at info@krismcpeak.com if you have any questions about the workshop!

JJ and I spend our time talking about revolutionizing today's work culture, something that we both feel strongly about. We touch on things like high quality/deep work, avoiding burnout, pros and cons of co-working spaces, and trying to keep that 8-hour workday within the framework of working from home and doing remote work. There's also a big focus on how management needs to allow their employees to engage in self-care and downtime. Seriously, managers, listen up! YAY - I am LOVING these opportunities to talk with young professionals about jobs, careers, time management, and so forth. These hot seat sessions are getting super fun for me! In this week's episode, I'm talking to Joey from Portland, OR. Joey just graduated from his university after spending two years at his local community college - that's always a smart thing! We talked about seeking that ideal job while still living at home but being a fully-functional-adult-member-of-society, as my dad liked to call it. Joey's actually in a really good place because he's working and still connected to his internship, so together we filled in the blanks and made a networking plan. GOOD STUFF. Joseph (Joey) Surico is a 22-year-old college grad who's based in Portland, Oregon, he just completed a bachelor's degree in marketing at Portland State University and is now in the middle of a job hunt during unordinary circumstances. He currently works in Geek Squad at Best Buy doing computer repair but also works a marketing internship at Portland-based running event company Terrapin Events but is now searching for a full time opportunity so that he can fully dedicate his skills to a job Do you want some free career coaching and a chance to be featured on the Elevate Your 8 Podcast? This week I'm talking to Tim Lewis from Stoneham Press who provided us with tons of super helpful productivity hacks he learned during the quarantine. Hey! Welcome to Episode 4! I just celebrated by 26th wedding anniversary with my hubby and he took me to Las Vegas. The “Elevate Your 8” philosophy totally went to hell on this trip and I felt a bit of Routine Hangover when I got home. So today's episode is all about how I enjoyed my amazing anniversary weekend and how I've been rebounding. Because OH MY GOD - the hubby and I really enjoyed acting like newlyweds again and getting home was tricky. As I'm listening to the show to edit, I'm realizing that the show is a part editorial comment on the current state of Las Vegas, but that's okay. I had a lot to say. I have a new mini-course to help my Elevater Peeps with your morning routine. You can find that at krismcpeak.com/morningglory. I'm super proud of this course and I think you'll find it very helpful in getting some additional time in your day while you develop your new routine. Just about 20 minutes a day, for five days and you are all set! Are you a recent college grad and you are looking for work and/or trying to figure out what you're gonna do about work? Let's chat! Fill out this form to schedule some FREE coaching and be on the show!
Welcome Welcome Welcome to Season 2 of “Elevate Your 8!” Wow, Season 1 was long, wasn't it? LOL. Not really sure how I decided I wanted to have a Season 2, but now we have it, and there you go. OH MY GOSH, it's been a summer and a half, hasn't it? COVID this and COVID that. BLAH. While I recognize that this is the most significant global event of my life and I completely understand the severity and impact, I don't have to like it; and, thus, I don't. But I'm hanging in there like many of you and I'm making the best of it. I have about a dozen face coverings at this stage of all sizes, shapes, and colors! But, Season 2...I have a new intro and I'm super pumped about it! The musician and narrator's name is Chris Corral and he's open to doing more freelance work, so I hope you'll check out his YouTube Channel and email me him HERE if you'd like to get some music composed and performed for your podcast or whatever you need. I hope that all of you had a chance to pick up my new book, “The 9-to-5 Side Hustler: A Guide to Balancing Your Day Job With Your Small Business,” yesterday on Amazon. It hit #1 Best Seller in 7 categories and was a #1 New Release in 4 Categories. You can still get the book today for 99 cents because I am just that cool. You can do it too. Everyone has their reasons to side hustle: Earn more money Pay off debt Learn new skills Use free time more productively Escape the rat race You can find Nick at sidehustlenation.com or check out his awesome podcast HERE.
This is the final episode of “Season 1,” which began in October of 2018. I'm excited to take the show to a new level with the publication of my third book and a relaunch of Elevate Your 8! So for the next couple weeks there will be some bonus interviews and compilations to get you through! Season 2 will kick off the day AFTER my book launch! That's right, my third book, "The 9-to-5 Side Hustler: A Guide to Balancing Your Day Job with Your Small Business" will be on sale on Amazon for 99 cents. And that is August 4th, my sister Jennifer's birthday. You can join the launch team by clicking HERE - and you'll get all sort of early access to chapters, giveaways on launch day, and other fun swag! But now let's talk about Lilli - I first met her when she was invited to be the keynote speaker for our Lancers for Life Leadership Academy that I launched at PCC in the fall of…. 2016, if memory serves. Dang, that was a while ago! Lilli's message really stuck with me so as I was visiting my LinkedIn page one day I found her profile and invited her to join me. In this episode we talk about how people can bounce back from furloughs and layoffs, reinvent their careers, and exactly why Strengths Finder is THE penultimate personality assessment tool! We share the talents of Maximizer, Relator, and Connectedness, so it was a great conversation all around. Links to some of the things in our conversation are here: My Chaos-to-Catalyst 7-Day Challenge The blog about meditation vs mindfulness My Facebook page, where in February 2019 I did several days of discussion and some videos on the benefits of various personality assessments. The Personality Brokers: The Strange History of Myers-Briggs and The Birth of Personality Testing, which is very critical of the science behind the MBTI. I had so much fun interviewing Kris McPeak from the Elevate Your 8 Podcast! This show is a much listen too! Because of how busy our lives get, it can be tough to get the most out of the time when you're not working or sleeping and Kris can help us do that! I met Kris at an event in Huntington Beach, CA where we were introduced to Allison Melody and are now part of Rise and Bloom. Kris McPeak is an author, educator, and podcaster with more than 25 years of experience in higher education. Her books, "Making 'Work' Work for You" and "Elevate Your 8" represent her focus and passion for work/life balance and intentional time management. She hosts the podcast, "Elevate Your 8," with new episodes every Wednesday. When Kris isn't working at her day job, her side hustle, or her podcast, she's running a US Masters Swim Team with her hubby, Charles; but you might also find her binge watching something on Netflix while knitting and snuggling with her dog, Duke. For more information here is how you can reach Kris: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/krismaspeak/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/spdcareers/ Web: https://www.krismcpeak.com/ Make sure to check out her show and leave some love by leaving her a rating & review.
