Tuesday Talks with Faraaz Ali, Coach, Comedian, Chef and Creative Director of the Soul. Faraaz's journey is about letting go of the many identities that hold us back from evolving into our greatness at a faster rate. The wisdom is in the choices we make coming from a place of being a global citizen rather than the many labels that confuse our authentic selves. Faraaz takes us through his journey of self-discovery and letting go of the identities in the process that did not serve him. We talked about global citizens and more…
In this episode, Dhruv and Aryan invite returning guest Ashwani Kumar Tiwari to discuss Anubhav Sinha's COVID-backdropped social issues drama "Bheed." Before that, however, Sanjeet joins them to talk about two other films directed by filmmakers frequently appearing in the "Special Thanks" section of every Sinha film -- Anurag Kashyap and Hansal Mehta. These three films -- "Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat," "Faraaz," & "Bheed" -- together reflect a specific type of leftist didacticism that exists in opposition to the right-wing films raking in cash at the box office nowadays. We discuss the merits and limitations of this brand of cinema, the divergent specificities with which each filmmaker utilizes them in thier films, and if some approaches work better than others. Listen to the full episode for a spoiler-filled discussion about the three movies! Afwaah (starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Bhumi Pednekar and Sumeet Vyas), similar to Anubhav's recent Bheed or Hansal Mehta's Faraaz, is a part of Bollywood's dissenting cinema. While it is crucial to have such films, they often assume a morally superior stance, neglecting the importance of narrating a captivating story, which can itself drive change. As the renowned late American critic Roger Ebert once said, movies are the most influential aid to empathy among all arts, and excellent films can transform us into better individuals. To know more about the film, listen to the full review by Anupama Chopra.

Director Hansal Mehta's Faraaz takes a real-life incident that happened in Bangladesh and uses it to make a political statement about India. We discuss the film's reliance on the “good Muslim trope”, and the odd choice to limit the internal debate to religion. We also talk about the film's tonal irregularities, its archetypal characters, and wonder who the target audience for something like this is. — Hosted by Akhil Arora and Rohan Naahar, The Long Take is fully bootstrapped. This poetry is written by Ahmed faraz and recital by wajid shaikh,Wajid shaikh mainly known for his voice and poetry Ab Ke Ham Bichre To (with English Translation) Ab kay hum bichday to shaayad kabhi khawabon may milein, This time if we part, then we may meet in the dreams Jis tarah sookhay huey phool kitabon mein milein Like dry flowers that are found in books Dhonda ujray huey logon main wafa ke moti Look for pearls of committment in ruined people Yeh khazane tujhe mumkin hai kharabon may milein Maybe you can find this treasure in bad people Tu khuda hai na mera ishq farishton jaisa, Neither you are God nor is my love like an angel, Dono insaan hain to kyon itnay hijaabon mein milein If we both are human beings, then why should we meet in hiding Ghum-e dunya bhi ghum-e yaar mein shamil kar lo Why not add the sorrows of the world to the sorrows caused by my beloved nasha bartha hain sharabein jo sharaboon main milein After all when the drinks are mixed, the intoxication increases Ab na woh main hoon na tu hain na woh maazi hai `Faraaz', You and I are not the same, nor do we have the same destination Faraz Jaisay do saayey tamana kay sehraon mein milein It is like two shadows meeting in the desert of wishes Ab ke hum bhichare Ab ke hum bhichade ahmed faraz Dry flowers Khwaab, dreams Contactwajidshaikhpoetries@gmail.com

Gayati. Live. Breathe. Sing! Informal singing by Gauri Varma
My atttempt at a favourite Ghazal by acclaimed Pakistani Shaayar Late Ahmad Faraaz. Sung by many iconic artists including Mehdi Hasan. The ghazal is steeped in romantic pathos: a lover pleads with his beloved to come to him even if she is angry or indifferent. So great is his longing to see the beloved, that he is willing to accept any reason for such a meeting, and presents various heartrending justifications to persuade the beloved to see him: to come for the sake of appearances, to honour and respond to his own love, to make him cry and even, to extinguish the last flickering flame of hope that continues to burn in his (the poet's) heart The mood is one of yearning and ego-less surrender.
