Demi Moore ist zurück! Darüber kann man sich freuen, jedoch tut sie sich mit diesem Film keinen Gefallen, oder besser gesagt: der Film tut ihr keinen Gefallen. Moore spielt die Schauspielerin Elisabeth, die nach einer Hollywood-Karriere eine Fitness-Show im Fernsehen moderiert, nun zu ihrem 50. Geburtstag jedoch abgesetzt werden soll. Der karikaturenhaft in Szene gesetzte Fernsehproduzent, der ausgerechnet Harvey (Dennis Quaid) heißt, spottet misogyn über Elisabeth. Diese wird sich tief gekränkt auf eine innovative Verjüngungsmethode einlassen, die den Namen „The Substance“ trägt. Dabei spaltet sich sie sich gewissermaßen auf. Sieben Tage kann man als strahlend schöne und junge Sue durch die Welt laufen, anschließend muss sich der Körper regenerieren, und Elisabeth ist wieder ganz die Alte. Was jedoch, wenn es zu verführerisch ist, weiterhin Sue zu bleiben? Was, wenn die Abspaltung immer länger dauert? Coralie Fargeat inszeniert auf dieser Prämisse durchaus beeindruckenden Bodyhorror, aber die Botschaft des Films ist nicht nur plakativ, der Film unterläuft sie versehentlich selbst. Our show today is part of our Fitness Friday series, and it's another great one in our Fitness Friday programs.  We'll be hearing from returning guest, Sabrena Jo.   While many people gained weight during the lockdowns, others have used the change in routine to eat better and exercise more.  On the Fitness Friday program, we talk with Sabrena Jo about exercise and fitness.  But, with the new year, our new year's resolutions, after such a brutal 2020 and 2021, here's to 2022, and it's good to look forward and think about what's better to come.   The upside to a couple of years of totally adjusting our sweat routines: We finally had the opportunity to reexamine what type of activity brings us happiness; peace of mind; an escape; or pure, fresh ambition. Maybe you tried a new virtual exercise class, took your typical sidewalk runs to the woods to switch things up, or bought yourself a kettlebell for the very first time. No matter what your age, a lack of movement, sitting in a chair over 30 minutes can have the same affect on your body (equivalent) to smoking a pack of cigarettes a day. If you have diabetes it can add to more body pain by not moving. COVID-19 has caused many to be locked in their homes and have felt lost as to where to go for reliable help in how they can overcome the fears around a lack of movement, as well as what movement we can do inside the home. Guest Bio Colin earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from Boston University, Master of Physical Therapy (MPT) from Medical College of Pennsylvania Hahnemann University, Master of Science (MS) from University of Oregon and Bachelor of Science (BS) from Oregon State University. He has been a guest Associate Professor for the Oregon Health & Science University Medical School, George Fox University Doctoral Program in Physical Therapy and Pacific University Doctoral Program in Physical Therapy, where he taught students about using exercise as medicine for a wide range of chronic diseases and injuries. Colin has practiced physical therapy for 20 years, with an emphasis on reducing falls and chronic disease in older adults. He created and hosted “The Fitness Show” on PBS, an exploratory documentary on the use of exercise to treat and prevent heart disease, falls, back pain, osteoarthritis and many other chronic problems. He was the regional health expert for NBC news for 4 years and has been a health writer for the Oregonian since 2010. Colin is the founder of the non-profit “Coalition for Active Resident Engagement (CARE)” and creator/host of the “Choose Your Age” podcast for senior living communities.
