Fresh off of seeing Kendrick Lamar & SZA in concert, we kicked things off by reflecting on our experience at the show. It didn't take too long for another beef to strike in hip-hop, as we reacted to Ray Vaughn's and Joey Bada$$' diss tracks to each other and who we thought took round one. We also touched on the latest drama with Tory Lanez being stabbed in prison and the insane Diddy trial that's revealed more than any of us really need to know... In the second half of the episode, we went down memory lane as we discussed the biggest scandals that happened at our high schools, and also spoke on how success can create unwelcomed expectations when it comes to dealing with family & friends. To wrap things up, we entertained the idea of creating our own rent party business and discussed the difference between mutual aid and fundraising. We got a lot to get to on this week's episode! We quickly kicked things off with a temperature check on the current state of the world, before diving right into Shadeur Sanders' draft stock tanking and whether or not the NFL is quietly colluding against Shadeur. Catherine T. Morris, the founder of BAMS (Boston Arts & Music Soul) Fest, joined us for one of the most thoughtful and insightful conversations we've had yet on the podcast! As advocates for the Boston music and arts scene, it was important for us to recognize and learn more about Catherine's contributions toward the scene. Her mission to build racial equity and economic empowerment to Black creatives and entrepreneurs is evident through her work the growing success of BAMS Fest, and her role as the Director of Arts & Creativity at The Boston Foundation.During our conversation with Catherine, we learned more about her journey, including: her experiences with racism in the METCO program, her early work as an event coordinator during her college years, and her time spent in Philadelphia (which ultimately inspired her return to Boston and sparked the idea of BAMS Fest). Catherine also shared with us the criteria behind BAMS Fest's selection process for performers, advice she has for up-and-coming artists, and her overall views on the state of the creative economy in Boston. THE LAST EPISODE OF 2024!! ... ignore the fact we technically dropped this in 2025... After releasing their classic self-titled debut album, Boston's own Feed The Family came through to discuss their follow-up "Zing Language" and much more! From serving zings and facing the harsh consequences of street life, Feed The Family have transitioned and solidified themselves as one of New England's top rap groups, receiving co-signs from the likes of Griselda's Westside Gunn. In this episode, we discussed everything from how their new album came together, the group's focus on the "underground" demographic, and even took a deeper look at their own traumas and the hypocrisies of capitalism in America. On this week's episode, we sat down with Jason Almeida, better known as WHERE'S NASTY, a creative director, DJ, and event producer from Providence, RI. We explored his journey into hip-hop, the changing landscape of music discovery, and why numbers don't define success in the culture. Nasty also shared his experiences throwing parties in high school, getting into DJing in college, and how he co-founded Stay Silent PVD, the force behind iconic events like Day Trill. We also discussed the differences between Boston's and Providence's music scene, the balance between visibility and money in the creative industry, and the importance of understanding your audience through data. The OG gang is back with another week of Bad For The Community! We kicked off the show with a hypothetical: "What if someone from the future told you your dreams would never work out?" Would you change up or follow the course? We also talked about secret talents we wish we had, which led to Nate and Tomo freestyling some stand-up comedy. We later spoke on the controversy surrounding Keith Lee's latest DC trip and questioned why people on the internet care so much about random people's opinions. After seeing the viral clip of Dr. Bryant and Cam Newton, Rob has the guys look inward and get honest about their own low-functioning behaviors and toxic traits. We even shared our thoughts on Michael Rubin's comments about "Black on Black hate" and whether people should be able to speak on communities that they're not from. It's been a controversial week, to say the least! We kicked off with Nate recapping his weekend with The Chamber taking over NYC and the Broccoli City Festival in D.C. In the past week, Lil Yachty stirred up waves with his latest comments on hip-hop (24:30) and leaking a song with Drake without getting permission from the artist they sampled (38:00). We discussed Drake teasing a collab album with PartyNextDoor (47:30), Kanye's unfinished Vultures 2 release (54:00), and Tory Lanez latest single that he recorded and released in prison (1:02:00).Kamala Harris' "Blackness" has also recently been questioned by her political opponent, Donald Trump (1:10:00). In an effort to clear up any confusion, we took it upon ourselves to create the "official" Blackness test (1:15:30). Who asked? Nobody. Should you take it seriously? Probably not, but we did it anyways for sh-ts and giggles. We also reacted to the transphobic attacks and gender controversy surrounding Imane Khelif's participation in the Olympics women's boxing (1:35:30), and the reveal of Robert Downey Jr. being casted as Dr. Doom in Marvel's upcoming movies (1:49:00). We discussed Childish Gambino releasing his last album under the "Gambino" moniker, got into a passionate debate about whether or not Big Sean is "corny", and whether or not it was a boss or b-tch move for Drake to allegedly ban Schoolboy Q and other TDE members from performing in Canada. We got a loaded episode for y'all this week! Friend of the show and talented rapper in his own right, Meech (of Van Buren Records) joined us for a lengthy conversation about "life". We kicked off this week's episode with some lively debates on Apple Music's polarizing Top 100 Best Album's list, Rob's conspiracy theory around Drake and Sexy Redd's collaborations, and the declining shelf life and value of music. The second half of the episode is where things really start to open up with some deeper discussions surrounding identity and not being married to a specific lane, spirituality and free will, and how necessary it is to protect yourself against potential threats. On a more light hearted note, we wrapped up the episode with our NBA Finals predictions. We kicked this episode off with our reactions to the released footage of Diddy assaulting Cassie and our thoughts on abusers being protected because of their money and influence.
